I came here with my father and brothers on Family Day of 2006 to bowl. I previously called this place to check the lane availability. A man named "Chris" answered. He said they had open lanes. I go into this place with my family. This man sees us and avoids us. He finally addresses my white father, saying "How's it going?", before talking about a lane being open "give or take 10 minutes". We wait. As I am waiting, I go to the ball return and get a 10 pin ball. I never played 10 pin and I just wanted to see how heavy the ball was. As soon as I lift the ball. This man SCREAMED AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS AT ME. Telling me that street shoes were not allowed, and to "wait my turn". This was in front of multiple people. I was a 15 year old kid, I never deserved that kind of treatment. This man, then crossed out our names and said that "You guys can go 'back home', putting the emphasis on the "home". Me and my brothers are part black, so I have suspected that this treatment was racially motivated. I have lived in Edmonton my whole life. I have never encountered such blatant disrespect and discrimination, even in Rural Alberta where my 8th Generation white father is from. If you are a person of colour, I would not spend my money at this place. You will wish you had not come.

Tuesday night deal for bowling is quite good. It gets really busy though. It also had pool table and a couple pf Arcade games for the ones who are still spiritually young :) The waitresses try their best to serve you well but in busy hours some of them get really rude. Final note, there is enough parking for everyone.

It says what did I like? Definitely not their ignorant, slow, disgusting service.... Security guard probably knows how ignorant the staff was! He made the birthday night and I'm very grateful for him ....we had no choice to hold it in because of the celebration... But all 10 of us will not ever give that place our $$$ ever again and we will be sure to spread the word :) Thank you so much to the security guard who made up for their horrible service and faces.

First of all, It's nice and underground lit up by many neon decorations to give you the feeling of night life in cities. The staff here is great, ready to help. Only problem is the food is very expensive they they don't allow outside food

I got the party package for my son's birthday and it was so easy! Everything was taken care of and there was even a TV in the party room so the little down time we did have was super easy. For bowling, I love the bumpers that go up and down automatically for each player. It's a great place for the whole family.

First of all, 17$ to bowl seemed high. We thought it would be good cause the place looks good. Our lane broke and didn’t set pins properly I got a burger and fries and it took at least 45 mins, and was ridiculously priced (20$). Would never recommend to anyone looking for a good time

We tried to book a group at Gateway for bowling 3 weeks in advance. Speaking to the rep they had 4 lanes available plus 4 walk-in lanes. Called 15 minutes later to confirm, but no, all 4 just booked...but you still have the walk-in lanes. Sent out the announcement, everyone shows up and...No! All the Walk-in lanes were pre-booked to a corporate party 'just like us' and we now have a dozen people coming but no bowling??? We never 'ever' pre-book our walk-in lanes. Bull!

Horrible service. We came on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 15 for a birthday and "Patrick" one of the employees, ripped away the assist dinosaur with no explanation or warning. When we asked why he just yelled at us saying it's common sense you can't use heavy balls on that. Honestly, I don't go bowling often, I don't know what is considered a heavy ball. There is no signage and we were never told at any point to look out for that. Also, our lane had to be reset multiple times and we had to wait almost 5 minutes for it to be reset properly. Despite the technical issues I would revisit the establishment, but after having to deal with such a sour employee who scared all the kids in our group I hope to never set foot in there again. Next time I would recommend visiting Ed's in west Edmonton, or Bonnie Doon Bowling place (I have only had great experiences there). So unfortunate we chose to spend our birthday there.

Bowling workers are not very personable, very slow to resolve issues. The arcade is great and the food services in the arcade area are fantastic. Unfortunately the lady who usually works behind the bowling counter sours the experience. We wont be going here again, 3 times dealing with her and every time it's awful so....3 strikes and you're out!

We had lots of fun at this entertainment centre. The bowling is lots of fun and they have a number of 8 inches balls that are not too heavy.... The foods also tastes very nice and quite affordable. The staffs are helpful and courteous. They have reservations for a large group of people and also game rooms for adults and children. Highly recommended.....

This business will bleed you dry, man. I rented 2 lanes for 2 games for 10 people total (including 6 kids). Two pizzas, 3 jugs of pop, and an appetizer platter. Grand total: $430 for 75 minutes of fun. Come on now. They had the guts to automatically charge me 18% gratuity. I saw that waitress three times: once to order (after we were in the 5th frame), once to drop off food, once to pay. It's not like this is a restaurant where we are sitting at a table. We even poured our own drinks! You think you earned that 18%?! On top of overpriced garbage bowling alley food? Get outta here. Real ripoff artists with that policy. Out here pretending they're a real restaurant that provides restaurant level service lol. Even the lanes we were on constantly had mechanical trouble. The repair guy come out 6 times across the 2 games to fix up the machines. Here's a tip for management: you can shear a sheep many times, but you can only skin it once. I was skinned, and won't be back.

First impressions, busy Place. Often booked for private gatherings makes it tricky for Guy to just walk in to bowl a couple of games with the family. Well run establishment but decor is in need of a refreshment. Pricey.

Service staff were pretty rude. Not very helpful. One of the maintenance guys shoved into us while we were walking out. The lames themselves were fine, but the seats and furniture were very beat up and dirty. Balls were also beat up and dirty. There are better options around the city for bowling. Pretty disappointing.

We made a reservation for a lane, one couple paid in advance under the reservation and my husband & I paid when we got there. It was $50 plus a tip to bowl for two games. They set us up in a lane, which didn't work. Some pins were stuck and we had to go the counter to have someone fix it. Instead they moved us to a different lane, and gave that lane to other customers. The new lane also didn't work, someone had to come with a tool to get it going. While playing the first game we had to go up to the counter 4 times because the lane stopped working. Either pins or balls got stuck in the lane. The entire alleys computer system stopped working before the second game. We were there at least a half hour after, and learned the manager of Gateway Lanes only works Monday to Friday, so the staff were left trying to deal with upset customers who wanted refunds. Our friends who paid in advance could only get their refund from her, so they were given her card. Ultimately we also left without a refund because they literally had no way to do it without the computer system. They had no hard copy back up system in place for such an occasion and as mentioned earlier we were told the general manager only works weekdays, and no one was shown how to resolve any of these issues in her absence. Saturday is apparently also their busiest night, I confirmed this with a staff member. They could only offer a voucher, which was unsatisfactory. The lanes didn't work properly and it was so frustrating we don't want to go back, so we were left to either wait for an undetermined amount of time or walk away from our money.

A fun place to visit with grandkids and is an enjoyable activity! The staff however are inattentive and rude. They spend their time visiting amongst themselves ignoring when the equipment continually broke down. One older male staff was extremely rude and appeared angry that he had to fix the equipment. I think the health inspector also need to stop in and help identify the smell that is permeating the entire alley, something is not right.

I was at the comedy factory, this place is great! I had no idea it has been around for 19 years. The comedians were really funny. They included the audience, even if it was making fun of ppl. There's a decent amount of food on the menu and drinks as well. I recommend checking out a show here. I'll definitely be back.

This is more specifically regarding their Comedy Club as I haven't really use their bowling services or anything got they have in the main area but for the comedy club: It was rude staff as well the drinks seem to come from Dirty cups they didn't seem to care very much about the general experience as it seemed very dirty the only reason why it has two stars instead of one is because I don't want to drastically rate Gateway entertainment based off of just one of their services I still know lots of people that enjoy going there for bowling and things like that but from my experience and the comedy club I will not be going back to see any shows there.

The vibe in here is amazing and the service is always smooth. However in my experience, there has been a couple issues with our lanes needing assistance mid game (ie a pin gets stuck or the game doesnt reset properly) which delays our game a bit. The workers are always happy to help but it's very annoying when this happens

Not a good experience here at all. I will never return again. Went there last Sunday with my boyfriend and was told there as a waiting list to bowl and to have a seat in the lounge while we waited and they would call names over the speaker system when its time to bowl. So we sat in the lounge (which smelled like dirty bathrooms) for 45 minutes. My boyfriend ordered for us, a beer, a root beer and fries. About 20 minutes later we received our drinks, but never did receive the fries we ordered. After 45 minutes of not hearing one name called over the speaker system my boyfriend decided he would go out and ask what was going on. When he went out to the counter there were empty lanes everywhere. The place had just about cleared out while he were "on the waiting list". He asked what was going on and why they never called any names but have empty lanes everywhere. The girl at the counter said they were not calling names but they she could get us on a lane right away. So we paid 16 dollars (both for shoes and one game), went to our lane and got ready. The whole place is old and dirty looking. The balls are dented and beat up. When i picked up the first ball to bowl inside the holes were so dirty I actually had debris go under my nails. It was gross. The people in the lane next to us were trying to move lanes because every time they would bowl they would have to physically get someone to come reset their lane. So I bowled first. Then my boyfriend, and then it was my turn again, but before I could even bowl the pins kept knocking over and every time we would reset it they would knock over again. So by the point my boyfriend was so annoyed with the whole experience he sang out to a worker who was going around physically resetting lanes if we could get our money back. He told him yes just go to the counter. When we got there and finally got served again (only one worker to do everything - check in, get shoes, check out) she docked us $7 dollars! $7 DOLLARS for one bowl each - 1 FRAME! And for shoe rental that we had on long enough to bowl once each! She refused to give us back our money and then when my boyfriend got upset about it and said it was stupid she turned to the customers behind us and said he has problems. Really? NEVER again would I return here and never would I recommend this place to anyone! Unless you want to be treated like crap and ripped off money.

LAST NIGHT MY FAMILY AND I WENT FOR POOL. NONE OF US DRINK ALCOHOL OR EVEN POP SO WE USUALLY ORDER ICE WATER. I WAITED UNTIL IT WASN'T BUSY TO ASK FOR A REFILL AND THE GIRL JUST SAID "UH, OKAY JUST WAIT". SO I'M WAITING AND THERE IS LITERALLY NO OTHER CUSTOMERS AROUND, SHE JUST STOOD THERE WAITING. SHE ACTUALLY MADE ME STAND THERE IN AWKWARD SILENCE WITH HER WHILE SHE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. WHEN OTHER CUSTOMERS WALKED UP LIKE 4 MINUTES LATER, SHE HAPPILY JUMPED TO HELP THEM. OFFERING THEM DRINKS AND FOOD. I HAD TO WAIT AT LEAST 6 MINUTES FOR ANOTHER STAFF MEMBER TO WALK UP AND ASK IF I NEEDED ANYTHING. THE GUY WHO HAD ACTUALLY HELPED ME WAS NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL AND ALMOST SEEMED SUPER INCONVENIENCED TO REFILL MY WATER. OVER ALL I USED TO OVER LOOK THEIR POOR SERVICE BUT AFTER LAST NIGHT, I WILL NOT RETURN!

Its ok! Attended a get together with coworkers had a private room after with food. Which was not that great. It was tacos...pretty simple ...but it was dry ....cheap However we had alot of fun bowling and the server was friendly an prompt. Great place to hang out and have fun! Experience best described as OK... We paid for 5 people but the game ended too early. The staff claimed that we had only paid for three people but reluctant extended our game but not enough. We had to ask them a second time to extend our game for us to even finish. The bowling lanes were good and no problems with that but when a bowling ball got stuck in the gutter the staff refused to help saying it wouldn't effect our game but there was a pin missing when the lane reset. Washrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a while and had paper towels all over the floor.

First time going to gateway and it was decent, its a huge place and pretty similar to The Rec room. 14 bucks to play billiards and 20 dollar deposit. They have tons of tables too. Only feedback i have is that this place needs a whole lot of TLC. The tables are filthy and dusty and the one stairwell we went down was dirty. Besides that I'd go again to play pool. They also have bars, food an arcade and bowling lanes.

I came here with a few friends for a beer and some bowling. The facility is fully equipped with everything from bowling, to laser tag, to a small arcade, to billiards. The staff treats patrons normally. The atmosphere was very busy. It took us 1.5 hours to get a bowling lane. This is why I gave a 4 star rating, because waiting 1.5 hours really threw off our plans for the night. However we had a lot of fun bowling with their modern score monitoring screens. I will come back, however maybe at a time when it is less busy.

I love this place, I've been going there for years. It's always busy & full of smiles & laughs. I've made some great memories there. The one downside I will say is often I have to grab some one because the bowling won't have reset on it's on & it gets stuck. It's not a huge deal but it would be awesome if they could adjust that. Love that there are so many things to do, something for everyone. #GAGA

Came here with a group of friends and what we got was poor service, overpriced food and bunch of broken bowling alleys. We pressed the service button numerous times and no one showed up to help us fix our screen and our bowling alleys. Some of us managed to go ahead and play while the majority of us were waiting for someone to come help us. We ended up leaving a lot later than we expected due to the poor service.

Lanes in the alley are decent, the food on the other hand is absolute garbage, extremely cheap ingredients at ansolutley outrageous prices. UPDATED, went again... why?!had to go to the counter 6 times in our game because of errors. ALSO, our lane stopped working had to wait 20min for the fix and then got fed and had to ask then to switch us and she gave me attitude behind the counter. And they messed up the bill for the food. Honestly, this is the absolute worst bowling alley in the city. FIGURE IT OUT. If I could give it ZERO STARS. Avoid it.

We enjoy coming here for date night. Lisa is the server we have had great experiences with and she's friendly and is easy to chat with. We are usually here once a month and although it used to be much busier before the vax passports came in, we still enjoy bowling nights here and having some drinks.

Gateway has done a phenomenal job at providing an exceptional experience during Covid. They've got all the health and safety practices in place to have a great time without worry. We went bowling with our small children (3 and 5 yrs) and they went over and above our expectations, they even played Disney movie songs for us! It's so awesome to go out and be able to go do something fun with our family while supporting Edmonton businesses.

Friends and I go to Gateway to bowl, weekly. Customer service kinda sucks, but I would guess that’s more to do with working conditions rather than the workers themselves. Unless gateway is *that* bad at hiring. The food is pretty decent if you can hunt down a server to order from. There’s often a wait for a lane (we go on cheap Tuesdays), but there’s plenty of stuff to keep you entertained while you wait for a lane. They have a wait list system where they will text you when a lane becomes available which is nice! The equipment is what it is. I don’t have a reference for comparison. Some of the lanes are a bit wonky (35/36!) and almost every week we have a problem with pins not registering properly, but we get it taken care of pretty quickly. No big deal. We consider the bad and the good as all a part of the experience. And obviously it’s not that bad, because we keep going back! But if you’re expecting to be floored with great customer service and state of the art facilities, this ain’t the place. If you’re expecting some fun, chill bowling with friends and some decent snacks, you’ll be happy.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This is easily the most unorganized bowling alley I've ever been to in my life. Overcharged my group and then had to "extend" our games every 30 min even though we were told that there would not be a time limit when we booked and they would take an additional 30 minutes to reactivate our lane. Just absolutely awful experience. I'll never be back

Place may be okay for bowling. But not at all recommended for billiards. Their tables are all filthy. Hard to imagine the last time they were cleaned. Surprised they charge people to play on these. All the tables were like this. I tried to power through a couple games as my wife and I didn't have much time. Rather than enjoying ourselves we felt more and more grossed out noticing how dirty the place was.

Went bowling there last week and booked online. When we booked for 8 people; it automatically selected 2 lanes with no way to change the amount of lanes. There was no disclaimer on the confirmation email stating anything about having to split our group by going 4 on each lane.Nothing was discussed at the front counter... no signs were posted...and there was no manager on site... ON A SATURDAY EVENING. Our game ended before we finished playing and were told that our game would cost another $88 to finish. Very unprofessional and will not be coming back.

Have went here a couple times. Stood there waiting for someone to greet us at the bar to play pool, no one came after 10 min so I saw the cook in the back and called for him to see if anyone was coming he just looked over briefly then kept doing what he's doing. This place has the worst service I've seen everytime I go. I recommend going somewhere else. I won't be back.

Worst service ever. Not even let us to even eat our food and want kick us out.

Booked several lanes for staff Christmas party and paid in advance, upon arrival they weren’t ready. When we finally got on, one lane wasn’t working properly and we had to move. The other lanes also has issues including random pins that would fall down, delays waiting for pins to be redropped, and forced resets to get it working again. Keypads, several keys didn’t work either. After bowling we tried laser tag and walked out after 1 game (even though we’d paid for 3) because the room size was tiny, and numerous guns didn’t work properly. We then went into the lounge and waited 20-25 minutes with no service, went up and tried to order and the bar tender told us to sit down and she would send someone. We waited another 20 minutes and finally went back up again and forced them to take our order. 30 minutes later (or so), our food came out and had clearly been under the heat lamp for a while. All in all, a really sad experience. Will not go back.

The staff looked very disinterested. I understand it's not the greatest job, but show some professional interest. The lane they gave us continuously broke down. They guy tasked for fixing the lane has no customer service skills whatsoever. Stay away from lane 23. Maybe the whole complex.

First time going bowling here and we had a group of six. We decided to do neon bowling. Didn't have a very good first impression. The lane that we were on had to be serviced multiple times. bowling balls where not coming back to us and the pins were not resetting. We decided not to start our second string due to all the issues we were having. So we decided to just get a refund... So in the end policy or not we were given the refund amount in cash as a whole (even though we all paid differently) and was told "we give cash refunds and you have to figure the rest out between you guys" .. ???????????? ... Yeaaaah so thanks for the AWESOME experience. Here's hoping that the ones reading this review have better luck. ???? As for my friend's and I, we won't be back ????

Bowling lane glitched out in the last three frames and they made us wait 20 minutes to basically tell us it wasn't going to be fixed so we asked for the manager and they blamed it on us... Another 10 minutes passed and they moved us to a different lane. 30 minutes to play for less than 10 to finish the game. Wouldn't go back.

This is the perfect place for a chill night out or wild night out with you and your friends. So many games to place, decent food choices, and good services. My only reason for three star was because of an incident that happened not too long ago. I ordered a cup of sprite for my drink, but got soda water instead, shared my concern with my server and asked for sprite. The second time it was still soda water. I went to the front to cancel my order with out any fuss (I only took one sip of each drink). At the end of the night, my server asked me to pay for BOTH DRINKS, after my explanation, she gave me the sassiest look and let me go. I didn’t go to the managers or anything, didn’t want anyone in trouble, if I order was wrong and I returned it to the front, there needs to be better communication between the front desk and waiters. And THE AUDACITY TO MAKE ME PAY FOR TWO WRONG DRINKS????????????

6/28/2018 Hockey team night out... Was super fun! We were in Edmonton from out of town for a hockey tournament and needed a place that could feed and entertain our players and parents. It was a busy Friday night, we had 18 players, plus siblings and parents so we needed a large place that could seat and feed us all. We also needed enough fun things to entertain a range of ages,,, We all bowled a couple games together, the kids played laser tag and the parents could sit and relax with some yummy food and adult beverages. The staff were attentive and service was quick, food was good and we were checked on through the evening to see how things were going. Thanks to all the staff for their friendliness and patience! It sounds like they are starting to do some renovations and updating, but it was still a great environment for us. We had called several other places that all turned us down because of our groups size - Gateway was great with our booking.

Entertaining games, prices are a little bit high and some of the staff lack respectful essential and customer skills. One of the staff was really cranky about us requesting help, apparently she called out to us that she paged a staff to help us but we didn't hear. When I asked if a staff was coming she said she's already "called a staff, didn't you hear me?" in a cranky voice. I replied with "Oh, sorry" but she just imitated what I said in a high pitch voice. It was very inappropriate but know that all the staff are like this.

Just went with my friends this weekend after not visiting this place since I was a child. Still the same great multi recreational place I've been too! Bowling is at a fair price, and the laser tag should not be overlooked! You've never bonded with your friends until you're all running around in the dark, sneaking around corners, or snipping eachother to get those points. ???? The service was great too! I think her name was Morgan (omg I'm so sorry if I got that wrong), she made us feel appreciated and she was super nice! 10/10 wanna bring everybody here!

My daughter signed up her family and myself and my Spouse for the Kids Bowl Free program at this location, so today we went with her and the Grands to bowl a couple games and celebrate my Birthday. What a great time we had! The place is clean, the staff super friendy and responsive. We all had fun on the lanes, then went to the arcade to enjoy the games. To my delight, there were FOUR pinball games!! I had a blast, the Grands had a blast, my daughter and husband had a blast. I highly recommend for family entertainment.

Pros: Cool and inviting atmosphere, especially for kids. Our server was very nice and accomodating. Cons: Lanes might need a little bit of maintenance. Balls are all banged up, and most of them are heavy (Or maybe they were all hogged by the kids lanes). One of the cashiers was pretty rude to us as well. I reserved 2 lanes that night and decided to take 1 lane while waiting for our friends. When they arrived, my friends were told to join our single lane because the next lane to us was "closed". We went for 15 minutes arguing with her but still gave into playing the 1 lane, fine with us, but after a couple of minutes they opened the lane next to us for a different set of people. Talk about great service! -1!

My friends and I bowled a few games on Sunday, it was pretty fun, but that might have more to do with the company that I keep. The price per game wasn't too bad, however I feel like the nachos ($15) that I ordered to share with my group were too expensive. You could literally see the grease on the chips. With a hand full of cheese and what felt like more olives than anything else. I'd go back but I would stay away from the menu and just bowl.

It smells like alcohol, it's muggy and walking down the steep flight of stairs adds to the feeling of a diseased rats nest that this place so tastefully executes. I would absolutely not recommend you take your family if you've got younger children..

I always go here for billiards . Weekend fun at cheap price cant beat this place. Pitcher of beer also at its best rate. I love spending time here with their great food also. Chicken wings and Nachos are delicious here. I also prefer this place for bowling, better than other places because of more lanes and never seen a single one closed. Good stuff.

Horrible experience. Paid over $250 for 2 games of bowling and for food and it was a disappointment. Staff are horrible and all hate there jobs, slow service might as well go get it yourself as it would be faster. Would not recommend this venue at all. Plus who has no change table in any of there washrooms? Changed my daughter twice on the counter in the washroom as there was no other option. They should not be able to run the way they are.

The service was actually quite terrible. They clearly need more staff or more efficient staff. The food took forever and when it finally came out was wrong. Would not give me a glass of water for my kids. Would only charge me for a bottle of water after spending almost $100 in food and drinks and bowling. The bumpers were stuck up for the games as well and they said "sorry nothing we can do". After we had already paid. The chairs had no cushion left in them. You would sink through the chair to sit down. If there was even a spot to sit. I would not go back. Red's in West Ed is far better.

Terrible customer service! Won't ever go back. The bartender waited until we ordered drinks, food and paid to tell us that bowling wasn't working because the system was down. We had to keep asking when it would be up and why they didn't inform us when we came in. The waitress we had, had a very bad attitude. Threw our food on the table and rudely asked if that was all. The supervisor kindly came over and informed us a little more of what was going on. However, she seemed more concerned about the two birthday parties they had scheduled that day. Not at all impressed. Especially it being a Mother's Day celebration.

The people are nice there and they have really good food like fried pickles (yummy) . I go there every year and loving coming to enjoy either bowling,play pool , play in the arcade and laser tag and more. They have so many fun events and have glow in the dark bowling too. You can have your birthday party there or go there for a school trip for the end of the year, just hang out or just to have a good time. They make my momentsto remember when I'm there with others. Is been going here since I was a kid and I rather go here then anywhere else to bowl or play pool. I like to go here with my son pretty regularly and I don't carry cash. This was the first time we were told we couldn't play pool without a 20$ cash deposit. We decided to stay and eat and watch the football game that was playing. The food we already knew as mediocre but ordered anyway. We were watching the last few minutes of very close NFL game that was very intense. The person who was serving that side of the facility walked up to our table twice during the most important part of the game interupting making me miss the last crucial play of the game to tell me that she messed up on my drink. I didn't care about the drink, I cared about the last play of the game we were obviously deeply invested in. Overall it was my worst experience there yet. Also I heard the waitress complaining about a 94$ tab with no tip. I didn't want to tip either honestly.

If you are looking to bowl, this is a great alley. There are 30 lanes, but on busier days there can be a wait. The customer service is good, and they extended our game for free after a miscommunication about the number of players. Overall, I would definately come here again, but remember that you can't bring outside food, so bring money, however they do provide water and cups for free.

It ain’t no plaza bowl, but at the same time, it ain’t no Bonnie Doon Mall bowl either (not that BDM is bad!). Good place to get your 10 pin action and it seems like a decently put together place! More so than I expect somewhere on Gateway Blvd to be.

Bowling alley was a bit run down. We had to change lanes because the machine wouldnt reload the pins. Had to get help multiple times. Then the kids were dissapointed because the laser game had broken down and couldnt play either.

Went there on a Friday night and it was not too busy. We were able to get our lane pretty quick but server never came back after giving us our order. Pop was watered down and when we ask her to change, she took it and never came back. We finished our game and had to go to the till to track her down so we can pay. Was not a very good experience with their service but the place is def good. My little guy enjoyed it! They had the railing up on the sides on the lane so he can play and get actual scores ????

Very poor experience when checking in. The lady working tonight (22 June at 8:00 PM) seems like she doesn't want to be at work. The server the same night said there's shortage of staff but for the sake of your guests. Please fake a smile at least. Our server though is AMAZING! Really a top notch employee. What a treat!

I went with my girlfriend and bought 2 bowling games, the pin machine wouldn't work on the first hand rounds. I asked them 3 times to fix it and waited for 35 minutes. Eventually I got sick of waiting and asked for a refund. Don't waste your time here

Bad bad bad! We had over a dozen people and purchased a few games. One of the lanes Didn’t work correctly and we constantly had to wait for the 20 year old head mechanic to go out and fix it. The manager could care a less of the issue and. It one person apologized for the issues all night. The service was the worst, we asked for a waitress and she never came, we to the bar and tried to order drinks but the staff meeting and phones in their hands seems more important. We finally were able to order drinks and they came half hour later, asked for a menu and ordered food 45 min later, asked for the bill and tried to pay it twice with no success. We were there from 630 until 11 and seen the waitress twice. The older blonde lady in the shoe rental section was the rudest person on the floor and you can tell she does not like her job at all. She was the worst part of the night and was a real pleasure to deal with. There are a lot more bowling places in Edmonton that are better then this place!

One word for this place “FUN” went hereon Saturday for bowling. When we arrived all lanes were taken, we gave our cell # so they could text us once a lane was open. We ordered a drink and before it was done we got our text. Iv only bowled 10 pin once before and it was here as well. Both times I loved it. It’s a nice relaxed fun atmosphere. It was really busy but still did not feel chaotic. I recommend this place for dates, night out with the kids, birthday parties or just a reason to have some fun.

Decent place to bowl, not that great if you have more than 3 people. The lanes are good, but the 'seating' area for people not bowling is rather non existent. There is only one small 2 person chair for each lane which is rather disappointing. If you have jackets/bags/purses there is no where to put them except for on the small double chair. No coat racks or areas for shoes/coats etc. Your lane is right next to the other lane which makes for quite the cramped area to stand while you wait for your turn. Good place to go if you're not with many people, but if you are with a group I would suggest another location.

It was a fun Tuesday bowling night with my InterNation group. I like the idea of the common disco lights ambiance of the place. It gives a perfect upbeat feeling while playing. However, the lanes that we were playing was not cooperating tonight. Balls return delays, pins alignment issues,etc. Overall, it was just okay.

The bathroom smells like a concentrated version of what you’d expect a bowling alley bathroom to smell like. Staff gets grumpy when you ask them for assistance when the equipment malfunctions. I’m surprised how much attitude you get from the entire staff and swear, we are easy going.

The vibe is pretty pumpin and you get to meet some pretty cool people. Laser tag is sweet when you have some time to kill on a slammed night of bowling or even just chilling in the longer waiting. Bowling is fun because it’s bowling, but I will be going somewhere else next time. The girls bathroom was so gross. Our lane (#31) kept screwing up and they didn’t fix it. They finally moved us to another lane, didn’t fix the one we were on, and then rented it to another party who still had issues. And to top that off, the whole place smells like there’s a problem with the sewer system. So gross. Won’t be going back. There’s better bowling alleys in Edmonton.

We went to celebrate my birthday. Three adults and two kids. We had a great time.the kids 6 and 8 had fun and enjoyed playing. The customer servise lady explained $2 per game per person because it was after 6pm on a Tuesday. Each game will take approximately 30 min. We bought two games per each. With the kids, the first game took more than 30 min. Then we our 2nd game we couldn't finish because it was 10:30 already. Eventhough it was half an hour later than the closing time, the staff didn't put any pressure on us to leave. We could have appreciated if we were notify in advance before the kitchen was closing. I most acknowledge they did notified before the bar was closing. We will come back for sure. I loved the music and the atmosphere.

My Family and I were planning on bowling at this location on a Sunday, we called ahead of time asking about reservations, they said to book online and they don’t take reservation before 6 over the phone. So we asked to book at 6 and they said oh we can’t do that! Which they said previously you could! Well we show up there and they told us we couldn’t bowl for another 45 minutes due to a bowling league coming in. But they never once mentioned it onto the phone. We couldn’t even get one lane. We drove 40 minutes into the city to bowl! The staff there were also super rude. This isn’t the first issue we have had with this place, so they have officially lost our business we will gladly bowl elsewhere in the city. Just be aware that the service isn’t amazing and they aren’t very helpful with when it comes to actually bowling. There’s also a very high chance that you might not be able to bowl!

Had amazing time bowling on Monday. We arrive early before their $1 special just make sure we could get lane. They were slow, which good for us. We had great talk with the lady who work the counter, she very friendly and knew a lot about the sport. She even told us if we would want get our own stuff there a place where we could go where she goes and it great place , East meets west I think. She even give us many helpful hints. During the evening it got very busy but lady's service never change. Which amaze us that she always had someone working our problems before we told her. She even explain what cause the problem. So much better then other bowling centers. Now on we will be coming to gateway especially if that lady working .

Won't experience ever!!! Beware!!!! $50 reservation fee and saying it's completely booked when it actually is not at all so they get your $50 reservation fee. You dont find out until you get here and discover it's cheaper just to show up! Ok so now I have an over priced reservation to show up to a dirty table. Spoke to the 'manager' about how unhappy we were to be told pretty much too bad. THEN our lane was messed up for half an hr, and still no help. Worst service and experience for the first day of our family vacation. I do not recommend this place. DO NOT order the nachos, its a half bag of tex mex cheese sprinkled on top and not even melted, canned unico olives and some cheap chips. Absolutely horrible!!!!! The orange juice tasted like a watery juice box. My husband ordered a "pitcher" of coors light and it came in a plastic pitcher that's about the same size of a tankard from the brewhouse for $19 HAHAHA. This place is a joke to say the least!!!!

Servers were great did what ever it took to make your visit special. However the food was questionable, I ordered a steak sandwich it was tasty and edible, my wife ordered a beef dip, the beef was inedible like shoe leather sent it back and ordered a pizza dog ( how can you screw up a hot dog ) well, the pizza sauce was warm and the dog was cold, served offered to take it off our bill, the fries were awesome now the cooks should learn about food safety and how to serve hot palatable food. The mens room on the lower pool table level, the urinals were running over on to the floor, but things never change it's been that way for the last 10 years. So to sum it up the servers get a 5+ for there efforts to make your experience good and the cook get a 1 for just being there so keep up the good work dervers

Shawn and his staff provided a great time for our team!!! Hosted our Winter Celebration, had the Prime Rib for our meal. It was fantastic and the price was Unbelievable!!! 30 people in our group , bowling was great, Service was fantastic, no one had to wait, we had a waitress the looked after everything!! We definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great location to have a fun night out!! For the price you will not find a better time!!!

Bowling was fun, our waitress was awesome but the front desk staff particularly one employee were extremely rude and condescending. I booked 2 lanes online for a birthday party with 10 guests in total. The online booking included 2 games per person and shoes. Absolutely no where in the online reservation did it specify you were on a time limit it specifically stated 2 games per person. I booked for 8pm but we didn't get started bowling until approximately 830 as we were waiting for people to arrive. At 1030 we got timed out in the middle of our game so I approached the front desk to ask to extend, the lady rudely at the front desk said it wasn't possible. My online reservation wasn't cheap and we didn't even get to play our full 2 games. Maybe consider specifying on the online reservation that you are timed while bowling. It was really disappointing considering myself and a bunch of my friends dropped alot of money for bowling, food and drinks only to be cutoff mid-game. Also everyone in my party were well over 30 and I have never been talked to by an employee of a venue like I was a 5 year old in such a rude and condescending manner for asking a simple question.

The girls in reservation were so friendly and helpful. Planned a friends birthday here and loved being able to try all the different activities they had to offer. Every time I am desperately needing a good date night I choose gateway. Whether it's bowl a couple games or play some arcade games. Celebrated my daughter's birthday there and by the end of the party I felt not relaxed at all. Bowling lanes didn't work at all. Wasted a lot of time waiting to get the lanes fixed. Afterwards we went into the party room and when the food arrived it was burned. Kids were so hungry so they had no other option but eat burned pizza. No cutlery in room to eat the birthday cake. It was a lot of running around on my part to get everything taken care of. Was a little disappointed. But the kids had fun and that's important.

Very disappointed in the customer service. 8 of us showed up at 8pm on a Sunday night(last night, June 14, 2015). We were told that they may be closing at 9:30pm as it was now summer hours and they were not too busy. On the website it said they start summer hours after June 30 and winter hours Sundays should be open until 11pm. Also we asked for 2 lanes but only could get 2 lanes if we had 9 people. Then she made some sputtering comments about the number of games and I could not understand what she said asked to repeat it and still did not understand. Paid for 1 game for 8 of us and shoes on 1 lane. Went back up half way through the first game to see if we could pay for 1 more game and she said we could go onto two lanes after the first game as it would speed it up and they could close earlier. How convenient. Beer was extremely foamy and took too long to get it. They are understaffed and poorly staffed. I will not be going back, especially after paying so much $250 ish for this experience.

Went for the jamfest kickoff and let me tell you this is what this place was missing great local bands. The host was amazing and lovely. The servers were amazing. Great entertainment. Price to get in was very fair. The place was packed! They had door prizes and a raffle. Felt like I wasn't in the bowling alley what so ever they brought a different atmosphere to the place which was great. I can assure you this will get bigger and bigger. Will be going to all future events! And know of some people that went that would come again with friends!

Bowling is fun. Billiards could use some work.. smells like mold in the area. Only one bridge in the place... no tabs meaning you have to pay for everything up front so you need to guestimate how long you gonna stay. Drink and food service is slow and pay per every item when you get it. If they have issues with people taking stuff they should take ID or credit card at the start instead making it the way it is.

Came here last year and had a bad experience but chalked it down to a one off. I was wrong. Just went back again and the place has gotten even worse. It's really rundown, nothing works properly and it's really awful service at the main desk. The server was pleasant enough but the other staff members don't have the slightest clue about customer service. Won't be coming back.

I just want to communicate my utter disappointment with the tactics of this business. We came here for a bit of a stag party because I like to bowl. My brother arranged everything. What was annoying was an employee decided it was a bright idea to clean the washroom at the bottom level right when we were there, I doubt he was cleaning it, he just wanted to restrict access to the washroom. He ruined the night because people who were desperate to use the washroom had to go to the top level instead. There is a ton of stairs here. He displayed absolutely rude behaviour when we asked them to stop pretending to clean the washroom while we were there. The employee just didn't want to clean the washroom in the bowling ally after we were done and decided to inconvenience everyone.

The establishment was decent, clean enough and everything worked as is should. However, we had paid for an hour bowling. The kids and I got our shoes, but had to wait about 15 minutes for my husband to arrive. So we did not activate our bowling station. Well, we found out, when our time was cut short, that they activate your time when you get your shoes. So, it felt a little disappointing and dishonest. It would be nice to know that sort of thing. Especially, when I told the women at the desk that we had to wait for someone.

Emma our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive. We never had to ask for our drinks to be refilled, or if we needed anything. She made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. As it was our first time there, she took the time to explain to us what Gateway had to offer! Great selection of games/activities, horrible establishment and management. Your roof leaks, your bathrooms are overflowing, and half your bowling lanes are broken. It took us over two hours to play two games with four people because the lanes kept breaking and it took forever to get someone to help. The service staff are friendly but management is awful. This is the last time I visit, which is a shame because it’s a great concept and nearby. Awesome idea, awful execution.

First time encountering this business. Came down the escalator and approached a sign that said shoe rentals and drop off. Watched the employees chat for a minute or two before being noticed. Gal was polite enough. Confirmed we didn't need reservations. Waiting for friends so went to play in the arcade. This is where it goes south. First coin machine has no power. Second coin machine doesn't accept bills. Tested it until my girlfriend started mocking me. Went to the bartender who referred me back to the coin machines. When I said it wasn't accepting bills, he rolled his eyes but changed my bill. Arcade was fair enough. Bad spot for a travel path tho. And dated. Friends arrived so went to the spot marked shoe rental and drop off. Older lady abruptly tells us we are on the wrong side. We come around, she's generally short worded, abrupt, little eye contact or customer service skills. We pay for the games, inquire about food service. She waves us off towards another spot. We decide to order later. Lanes are decent but pins tend to fall of their own accord. Waitress gave service at the lane but she was also short, abrupt, generally poorly skilled for customer service. Food is supbar with a slight chance of burning the next day. When we dropped off the shoes, there was again zero eye contact nor any farewell. Recommend this place for drug deals and bar fights. Don't let your children go here unsupervised.

I've now been here twice in the past few weeks. Once for my Mom's Birthday and last night with some work friends. Our servers were great both nights, but that older woman at the front desk as you check in is SO TERRIBLE! She is so incredibly rude, unaccomodating and just plain miserable. I cannot believe this business has someone like her as their first line of communication. She does NOT seem to enjoy her time here at all and any questions I had throughout the evening, I was uncomfortable asking, as it felt as if I was bothering her. God forbid you had troubles at your lane, as she seemed so irritated to help, I was actually more comfortable bothering our busy waitress to avoid feeling scolded. I highly recommend reconsidering her as an employee as I feel she really negatively sets the tone at the lane. I am so incredibly unhappy with her behavior and mannerisms and will not be returning or recommending this venue as a place to host future team building events with my work colleagues.

Went for a company event. Had a booking and no issues getting our lane, shoes, and getting setup. Once we ordered food it took quite a while to get there. For the portion size, the prices were a little expensive. The primary issue was the lane constantly breaking down. Every 4 or so bowlers the lane would stop placing pins, would not place all of them, or would knock a few down. It became frustrating to the point where we decided to leave with a few frames left.

First time bowling in the city and it was not the best. Bought 2 games and the first one took over an hour to get through as we had to switch lanes 3 times. By the time we got to the 3rd one we were over it and decided to just leave. Luckily we got refunded for the 2nd game, but won’t be returning unless it’s our very very last option.

Went with family last night and had a horrible experience. First of all had a SUTP coupon. The Coupon states Buy 2, get 2 FREE Games per group per day. There was two adults and two kids in our group and we wanted to play one full game. When I went to pay the cashier said we had to buy six games and the four person gets two free games. That is clearly not what the ticket said and I asked her to ready the ticket. We got into a debate on the meaning of the ticket and then she said if I didn't like it I could leave. It this point I became sharp with her and stated that we would bowl, seeing that my son and his friend were already looking forward to bowling. So I ended up paying for eight games of bowling when we only wanted four games as time was short. On top of this the cashier, proceeded to take another customer, when I was asking my group what size they took for shoes, so I had to wait until she finished with that customer. So we finally started bowling and not even one frame into the game the pin devise gets stuck and we have to wait five minutes for some one to come fix it. This happens twice more and we lost time for bowling and I now sense we are not going to be able to finish the second game as it is already 10:20pm and the Gateway closes at 11pm. On top of this my son and his friend had to use the smaller balls as they are lighter, but they keep getting stuck behind the pins. They would not return via the track, so the kids had to use adult balls. They kept getting gutter balls, so I asked our original cashier to get some to fix it and she said the kids would have to use adult balls. I asked to talk to a manager, who I forgot to mention the cashier said was not there when I first disputed the meaning of the coupon. There actually was a manager there and I explain the horrible bowling experience we were having, he was not helpful or understanding at all, and walked away from me twice. He finally stated he would give me a refund. I agreed that would be best. He came back with half of the money I paid. I said what was that, which his reply was that is how much you used of your bowling time. Poor staff, poor service, poor management, and poor facilities. I think this place needs some serious overhaul in all departments.

Customer service nightmare. The woman who took our payment for the lanes was crotchety and spoke to us like we were absolute idiots because we didn't know how many ways her register could split the pay. Two ways maximum? I've never heard of this kind of restriction, but ok. You don't have to talk to us like dogs because of it. We paid for two rounds of bowling. Our lane didn't work properly and wouldn't reset our pins about 25% of the time. We requested assistance several times, but the staff were somewhat slow to respond. One member of our group respectfully complained, and the manager came over to try and appease us, offering coupons for bowling. This is when things really took shape. The coupons were only usable after 9PM Sunday-Thursday and didn't include shoes. No clearer way than this to show how little you think of your patrons. Will NEVER return, and it would be better for your group not to go to these lanes. There are other, better places.

This place will cheat you out of money. We showed up and were told there was an hour long wait. There were about 5 lanes unused and no one in front of use, but ok. Those lanes ended up being used later by people who can after us but whatever. We go to the restaurant to eat and wait. Ten minutes went by before we were greeted and told a waitress would be by. Then another 5 before someone, not the waitress, came and got our drinks. Ten minutes later the same lady who claimed to be the manager came by and took our food order since we had still not been served by the waitress. When the food finally came after what seemed like forever it was missing a lot. I had ordered a quasadilla and there was no sour cream or salsa, which should be standard, and no ketchup for the fries. No utensils for any of the other food too. The food was bad and way over priced. We finally get our text to go bowl and begin. We paid for two games which was an absurd amount of money. We bowled the first game but then the lane shut us off before the second game and we weren't allowed to play it. This place stole $40 dollars from us. I will never come back here and I will recommend that everyone I know stay far away from this shady money stealing dirty shack of an establishment that has no business operating the way it does. I hope the people who run this place are ashamed of how they cheat people out of money on a regular basis.

NEVER WASTE YOUR FAMILY TIME WITH THESE GUYS! #1 for the WORST customer service in Edmonton. The Staff at the Bowling lane were rude and had no interest in fixing any mess ups. The bowling lanes got stuck at least 10 times in 2 hours and had to wait for 45 minutes to get a bowling lane for the kids though there were 5 free lanes. The staff took half the jar of beer away and when asked about it - they said "that was an accident!!! and didn't even care to refill it!!!". Worst of all .. if your dollar gets stuck in their arcade machine - their answer - "too bad! call the company for refund!" REALLY!! CHEAP PLACE!! STAY AWAY!!

Loved it. We had a great time bowling. We had a couple of issues with our lane, so the staff happily moved us over to another one. We had some finger food and some pop. Which was really good and there was lots to go around.
