Many of the other barbers in the shop appeared competent and had successful styles for their clients. ----------------- I went back today to try another barber. Well, last time I post a misunderstanding situation about booking mistake. Appears it was a small mistake but the shop handled. Very well and solved the issue as fast as they could and I received a very perfect treatment. Thanks to Chad and (Destiny) my favorite barber there and Michigan for taking care of it and now I’m back here satisfied and happy. It will always be the best spot to get any kind of hair cut. I've been here three times now. The haircuts are really good when you find the right barber for you. I've seen 2 barbers and seen people sitting with several others. Each barber has their own way to cut hair, and their own style. You really have to find the barber who meets your needs. Once you do that this place is great. I do take a star off because I feel the haircuts are a bit expensive. I typically get a pretty standard haircut, and perhaps I should find a cheaper place that caters to that, but I will keep coming back to Detroit Barber Co. because I've had great service, friendly conversations, and everyone I know has complimented me so much on 2 out of the 3 haircuts I've had had here. A great haircut can really make a person standout and that's what they offer here.

3/4 experiences here were bad. First visit, great haircut. Second visit, required a fix. Third visit, I came in for a haircut and beard trim, but the dude didn't even clean up my neck. Fourth visit, I get there for my appointment, the haircut in front of me is running extremely long. It ran so long that I was able to get on my phone and book somewhere else. All in all, they play favorites here. You can sometimes get a good haircut, but you'll more than likely be disappointed. Save yourself the headache... I gave this place way too many chances.

It's been twenty years since I've been to a barber's shop. The last barber I went to has long since retired, but going to his shop was an experience. As soon as you walked through the door you were transported to another time. The scent of witch-hazel hung in the air mingling with the smooth voice of Frank Sinatra from a transistor radio. Old guys wearing short brimmed straw hats would wander in and out for a chat or to peruse the racing form and place a few bets with the barber. On the wall was a sun-faded haircut chart that consisted of nothing but close cropped styles from the 50's. I loved going there, back when I had hair and needed a cut instead of just shaving my own head. Four months ago I decided to grow a full beard and badly needed a trim. I found The Detroit Barber Company in an online search and it looked like a place to try. I had my appointment this morning and it was almost like going home again. As soon as I walked in the door I noticed the old style barber's chairs. They reminded me of the times my father would take me to Mr. King's barber shop in the old Reno Building in River Rouge. I must have been four or five years old. There were antique display cases with the old advertising, what looked like seats from old Tiger Stadium, and even long benches like the ones us kids would line-up on, on a Saturday morning waiting for our turn. I could go on and on, but this was exactly what I was looking for--an experience. The barber, Keonte, was an expert at his work. I was very pleased with my beard trim and line-up. The prices are reasonable and I loved the online scheduling and reminders. A perfect experience. I am a customer for life.

I am very particular about my hair and the cuts. Hair cuts are not just shaving your head with a machine( it’s weird i even have to say this!) When i first moved here from Toronto, i tried a number of places in Detroit/MetroD area(trust me, many!) and a series of extremely bad haircuts. I preferred driving to Toronto and getting my hair cut there(no joke did this as much as i could until Covid) having said that full credit to Brian who is not only a kind, thoughtful, and a great human but also understand what you want to do with your hair and works with you for a great and satisfying result. 1000% recommend Brian at Detroit Barber Co!

If you like paying $45 dollars for a bald head and a line up, this is your spot! Great service, well staffed, no wait, but I felt like I was ripped off because for $45, I should've had the hot towel (which they had) and razor (which they had).. and still not pay 45.00 for a bald head. I may go back if I can't get a cut anywhere else; I had to try it out because it is so close to the office. That's what happens when you act brand new on your barber. This place does not get the #WolfofWoodward certified stamp. Not yet, at least. I could've eaten lamb chops and lobster for lunch instead of a $45 bald head. In all fairness, the prices were posted and the environment was kinda cool, but I would do you a disservice if I acted as if I was cool with the pricing. Too rich for my blood, at least for haircuts.

Came here with 3 people was our first time one of us had a bad haircut the other 2 was ok and they all of the sudden become busy once we bring up a complaint and don’t want to return money that was paid for a bad hair cut. I booked "the works" for my husband and our dads the day before our wedding and they all said the environment was great! Sadly, they did not get everything included in the package. My dad didn't get anything besides the haircut and paid $100 for less than a 30 minute haircut and left confused. They all did not get all the parts to "the works". I tried to call the barber to see what went wrong. I was promised a callback twice and nothing. I'm sorry, I still don't understand the billing after the owner replied. We were booked for an hour and ten minutes and it was less than 30 minutes of service.

Love this place. I’ve seen Mike 5-6 times and have never been disappointed. He is highly skilled and really listens to what you want and gives good advice based on your actual hair. One reason I chose Detroit Barber Co. was the large amount of barbers to choose from. I’ve felt awkward having a bad experience in a place with 2-3 chairs and not wanting to book with another person in the same shop, so a large selection of talent was comforting. That said, I’ve seen Mike every time and never needed to book with anyone else. He’s great!

Had to shave my beard when I got home because my barber left my entire neck untouched, yet trimmed down the rest of my beard; and almost two weeks later I have to go get another cut because thr grow back makes me look like Bernie Sanders and I’m only 36. And my barber was on something. I could say alcohol but don’t want to assume because I couldn’t smell it with my mask on.

Longest time I ever spent on a hair cut ????. I don't remember spending more time than 20 mins on my haircut till now from various shops. For a hair wash they charge additional ( which they mentioned online) $30 for just a haircut. The price they charge is high and I didn't find worth spending. Thanks folks, but I'm not impressed

I've been going to Detroit Barber Co. for almost a year and it has always been serviceable at the very least. A couple of months ago I scheduled a haircut last minute with the "Looking for the first available appointment? Choose the 'book with any available' option." It was very bad. While every haircut I've gotten from them has taken at least a half hour, this one lasted 15 minutes total. When I asked my barber to clean up my neck he looked at it, grabbed some clippers, and very quickly cleaned it up instead of taking his time like they normally do. Overall, it was a really bad haircut. Horribly uneven to the extent it should not have been. At my next haircut (a different barber shop completely) the barber agreed that my hair had gotten badly messed up at my last appointment. I don't plan on returning!

I had a 2:30 appointment and arrived on time. Your website shows a haircut and beard trim for 45$ with a time frame of 45 minutes. He zipped through my hair and beard in about 16 minutes. I think 45$ is a bit overpriced for the little time spent on my services. My past experiences here took at least 30 minutes or longer. I may not come back. You would think I would at least get my hair washed.

I had an appointment with Brees today for a head shave. This was my first time coming to the shop. I found the staff to be welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Great concept, wonderful variety of treats. My everything roll with Tofutti wasn't great, but I'd go back and try something else. Macchiatos were good, pour over was good. They have a few outside tables on the sidewalk and a good amount of seating inside

I have gotten 3 haircuts at Detroit Barber Co. Each one was performed by a different staff member. All 3 times I have walked out of the store and immediately put a hat over my head Detroit barber company is the best barber to go to if you want to immediately try to find another barber to fix their mistakes. The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because last time I went in and addressed their mistake they brought a competent barber out to fix it. Even so, I'm stuck with a buzzcut that I didn't want for the next month. For $30 a haircut, you'd assume the company would be able to hire decent talent across the board, instead it appears most of that money is spent on rustic knick knacks and gallon jugs of woodstain to appear hip and chic. Do not go here.

You get charged an extra $10 for a fade for “the fact the haircut takes longer.” I was in the chair for 20 minutes. I’ve been to other places that charge $30 which includes a shampoo - fade included. $40 would’ve been worth it if I was at least offered a drink.

When I first saw Destiny I thought omg she is tiny and female ???? ( My first btw ) and I really didn't know what to expect. She proceeded to give me a beard trim and touch up a few spots I missed on my bald head. I have to say it was the most gentle and nice experience I ever had at a barber. I had to see it for myself in her mirror. It looked great! This place is awesome and you can't beat the scheduling 7 days a week. highly recommend.

Great haircuts in Corktown with friendly barbers and a cool building. Only downside is that the prices are pretty high, especially for a quick trim. Otherwise would highly recommend the stylists and service, loved my cut.

If you want a haircut from barbers that actually take pride in what they do and won't let u leave until you look great then any of the Babers that work here will give you a great haircut and line up your beard. They will also will talk to you because they want to get know there customers so they aren't going to rush you in and out like if you go to big chain stores that cut hair. The staff that work the counter are super nice and helpful and will make sure that you are comfortable well you wait and knowledgeable about the products that they are sell because they use the products themselves. It's just the best experience I've ever got getting a haircut and that's why I continue to go back and I tell everyone I know about them and if they want a haircut that's going to look great then u have to go where the people cutting your hair take pride in what they are doing.

My experience has been great. I understand when people are behind on appointments it can cause a wait until you’re seated.
