Perfect buzz, friendly staff

Walked in at 5.25pm and asked for a beard trim that usually takes 10 minutes. There was nobody there but me and the barber but I was turned away as they close at 6pm. Won't be back

Great proprietor, years of experience, amazing cut/shave. Reasonable barbershop prices too! Great place for an experienced cut/shave.

Noel Johnson

Best haircut I've had in Van so far and a decent price.

Kelly Hefelfinger

Huck Baldwin

Great cut for my son. Best he's had in a while Not the best price for a 14 year old however, at $35 it's tough for me to justify.

Wonderful place for an economical haircut. Michael was super helpful and his suggestions were great. Would definitely recommend.

Mr Hobbs is great, lets you know about the haircut you want and whether it would go well with your hair and the end result is fantastic. I would recommend trying to get your hair cut by Mr Hobbs and not the other female barber there as it isn't quite as good.

Visited on a Saturday Morning - my hair was cut by the main guy (apologies I do not know his name) - Possibly the best haircut I've had in 24 years, I was consulted on possible changes for the better. I can not recommend this Baber shop enough!

I've been going to see Michael for over a year now. I feel sorry for him, because I have the worst type of hair to try and trim (thin, balding! If I didn't have such a weird head shape it'd all be gone) but never have I left after getting a trim feeling disappointed or judged. Michael always keeps my hair super short and does exactly what is asked, and he does it well. He's an old school barber (a dying trade) and a good bloke as well. Yes he may be expensive for what you get, but I'm always happy to support independent businesses run by people just trying their best to get on in the world. I don't mind paying a bit extra for that. I'd recommend 100%.

Michael is a true master of his craft and hands down the best barber I ever had. Beyond my 3 years in Vancouver, I have lived in Belgrade (Serbia), Los Angeles, Montreal and now Toronto, where I have frequented many good barbershops but none has been even close in the quality of cut and overall experience to Michael's Mr Hobbs barbershop. I was lucky to live few blocks away so this was the first barbershop I tried in Vancouver simply on the account of proximity. Oh boy, how that worked out for my hair and how dearly I miss this haircut nowadays in Toronto! Michael essentially designed a haircut for me that followed the natural way my hair grows as well as the shape of my head. Most impressively, he was able to masterfully fade it in the back with scissors so that my profile has a full, nice and natural look. He did it with ease and excellence of a master who enjoys his craft. The hot towel at the end is definitely a nice touch. The best part: the haircut would preserve its shape and would look clean and fresh for a long time, maybe 3 weeks or so! I have been bumping from one hyped barbershop to another since moving to Toronto to no avail. Michael started his training at the age of 15 in London, England, and that proper old world training and tradition is what sets him apart from this day and age barbers raised in our era of social media and instant education. The barbershop is very tastefully decorated and Michael is a great conversationalist, so it was almost like a ritual for me to go there, feel good about myself and get a fresh and clean cut. All one could ever want from a barber! Thank you, Michael, you are dearly missed in Toronto!

Does a really good job. And he is always very nice. Take my 6 year old there and he is comfortable.

I've been a regular for at least a year. Best barbershop in South Granville. The owner is super friendly and really knows how to cut men's hair. If your time is short I highly recommend showing up early because queues form quickly on the weekend. Don't forget to write your name on the chalk board! Enjoy a Werther's while you wait :)

Great cut/shave from a friendly and experienced proprietor, Mr. Hobbs is great to bounce ideas off too if you're not completely sure how the cut should look on your head. Friendly and reasonably priced, he's the only barber I go to now.

Aziz Zouaoui

Decent hair cut, great value for the price. Only thing keeping it from achieving a better score is their shaving cream. I bought some for about $22 and have been severely disappointed. It doesn't latter at all and you need so much of it just to be able to shave. I shave using a straight and have used many different soaps and creams, so far this being the worst. It did work as a good pre-shave cream (as it doesn't lather at all) but I'll stick to my Geo F. Trumpers or Colonel Conk's for my main shaving cream/soap. Next time I return I would like to get my cut done by the owner as I feel there was room for improvement. Hard to complain when a cut only costs $27, but if you're attempting perfection (or anything close to it) this is not the place for you.

Redwan Mahmud

Loved the haircut. Wait isn't too bad if you have the time. Usually offers chocolates and cookies

Hubert

I always have the best time when I go here. Unpretentious, comfortable, skillful, I can't recommend it enough.

Albert Saravi

Too expensive, 35$ for 10 minutes work. Most his costumers are little hair men.

Dan Udell

Always a good cut, friendly staff

I've been going to the owner for years. Great guy, great prices and stylish, minimalist shop. Little touches like hot towels and good conversation goes a long way.

Barry Young

James Becker

Amazing haircuts at a reasonable price. Well worth checking out! He is my regular barber that I will always trust with my hair.

Jordan Kerr

The man knows his stuff.

Tamir Streiner

Quite possible the worst shave I have ever gotten at a barbershop. I'm shocked at the ratings this place gets when they charge $32, take 5 minutes to do a haircut and then screw up the shave.

Wray McOuat

This barbershop is outstanding. Mr Hobbs has fantastic attention to detail, is very friendly, and price is reasonable for the high quality. Definitely give this place a try if you want to look your best for an important occasion.

Very pleasant guy, I didn't really know what I wanted and ended up with a great looking haircut. I was there at 0950am on a Saturday , and was third in line. I ended up waiting around 20 minutes for my cut, which I'm sure varies per day. Price was $29 plus tip, which for me and the cut I received very reasonably priced for Vancouver. Would go again and highly recommend!

Matt Fernets

I'm really picky about barbershops. I can't recommend Mr.Hobbs enough. Both Barbers I've had there have been really good. Wait times are usually pretty good, just make sure you write your name on the chalk board when you come in.

Great Shop!!! Very knowledgable and nice environment. I strongly recommend getting a beard trim or hair cut here.

Jeff k

Great experience. Gave him a rough IDea what I wanted with a cut and bear trim.. knew exactly how to frame my face and was out well under 30 mins. Found my forever barber ;)

Hadrian D'Souza

Nice guy and nice place. However, definitely not worth the price for services offered. You can get pretty much the same service at a chain for half or less than half. 2 stars because the owner is a decent dude.

If you’re looking for your next regular barber shop... LOOK NO FURTHER! I’ve been going there for several years and have never been disappointed! Yeah sure like others say sometimes you wait for 20 minutes or so on a Saturday at peak hour when everyone is off work going for a cut, duuuuh... but that’s because him and his son are that good at cutting and giving you a great barber experience cause let’s face it, it’s not simply about the cut, it is also about the chat and making you comfortable sitting in the comfy sleek leather chair! On a second note a big props to mr Hobbs shaving cream (he’s sweet at shaves too - cmon he’s a Brit, they got that down) I got ginger pale really irritable skin, whenever I shaved in the past I would always look like a red mess afterwards but this cream is insane!! I never had redness ever again with it... I’m actually able to shave right before a dinner or so without worrying about it. So yeah go see them and see for your self cause they won’t disappoint.

I went to Mr. Hobbs for my first hair cut (not done by myself) since the pandemic started and he did the most fantastic job. He is a personable, true professional and I could not recommend anyone better. Needless to say as long as he is cutting hair, I will never go to anyone else.

Very pricey for the quality of work. Had better cuts at a cheaper barbershop that does better fades !

Jeremy Vincent

I've been going to this place since it has opened. The shop is always clean, it's simple and tasteful, and the quality of the hair cut has always been good. The hot towel after is an excellent touch.

Fantastic shaving cream I bought for my boyfriend! He's been to nearly a dozen top barbers around the city ( he's very picky) and absolutely adores this place!

Been going in this barbershop for a year, nothing can go wrong in this place, every visit is satisfying. The place is cozy, clean, elegant, simple yet has modern touch in it. The parking tho is a different story coz you have to take street parking and sometimes on busy days parking is packed. Haircut is a bit pricey too for $35, but for the vibes and service i’m getting I don’t mind paying a little bit extra.

This guy isn’t a barber. I’ve been going to barbers my whole life in the Middle East and know friends & families who are great exceptional barbers. I can tell when one is a very skilled barber. And especially now with so many barbershops opened in this town, it’s not hard to compare the talent or experienced. This guy is a hairdresser wanna-be barber! He can’t do a proper skin fade or shave. And charges over the top for a so-so Fade or a cut.

Adam Fong

He was really good. He really knows how to cut and style hair!

Graeme Darbyshire

Decent cut and beard trim. Little pricey but you get what you pay for. Also I went when it was not to busy so that is a plus!
