Michael is a true master of his craft and hands down the best barber I ever had. Beyond my 3 years in Vancouver, I have lived in Belgrade (Serbia), Los Angeles, Montreal and now Toronto, where I have frequented many good barbershops but none has been even close in the quality of cut and overall experience to Michael's Mr Hobbs barbershop. I was lucky to live few blocks away so this was the first barbershop I tried in Vancouver simply on the account of proximity. Oh boy, how that worked out for my hair and how dearly I miss this haircut nowadays in Toronto!
Michael essentially designed a haircut for me that followed the natural way my hair grows as well as the shape of my head. Most impressively, he was able to masterfully fade it in the back with scissors so that my profile has a full, nice and natural look. He did it with ease and excellence of a master who enjoys his craft. The hot towel at the end is definitely a nice touch. The best part: the haircut would preserve its shape and would look clean and fresh for a long time, maybe 3 weeks or so!
I have been bumping from one hyped barbershop to another since moving to Toronto to no avail. Michael started his training at the age of 15 in London, England, and that proper old world training and tradition is what sets him apart from this day and age barbers raised in our era of social media and instant education.
The barbershop is very tastefully decorated and Michael is a great conversationalist, so it was almost like a ritual for me to go there, feel good about myself and get a fresh and clean cut. All one could ever want from a barber! Thank you, Michael, you are dearly missed in Toronto!
