I recently moved from Toronto to downtown Kitchener. I am delighted by the service and atmosphere at the Voila Institute. They gave me very modern looking bangs which everything complements. So affordable, conscientious and you get to help the learning process too!

I got my hair done today! I needed a good cut, wash, color and style! I showed Lu and Sarah the picture of the style I wanted done and the color I wanted it and the both of them made sure it happened!! I absolutely love the results!! My friends and family like the results as well and I got a lot of people turning heads to oo and ah over my hair!! This salon beats all others in my opinion! The staff are very friendly and very respectful, I love the vibrant purple and blonde!! This is the only place I can go to where I feel comfortable and enjoy myself!! I feel well respected here and enjoyed the work Sarah put into my hair! Granted my hair was a challenge itself, Sarah still managed to come out on top of it all with finesse and she even left me smiling hours after the appointment! Love my hair! Only one visit so far, but I intend to return. I had my brows done by an instructor and she was awesome. Didn't even let me tip her--although I would insist if she were a student. I want to come back for services given the super affordable prices! The communication within the company could be better--I booked an appointment online and rescheduled it over the phone, but they didn't seem to input this into their system as they phoned me about a missed appointment I didn't have, and didn't have my appointment booked when I walked in (hence being served by an instructor). Some of the receptionists were a little unprofessional--didn't greet me when I walked in, but I understand that they're students. Maybe some more education in this could help! :)

Great atmosphere, quality instructors on site, and always willing to swing you in asap. Great prices for those that like to help others while helping yourself! Remember. This is a teaching facility. Help them help you and go prepared. Never been disappointed yet and I've had my last 3 colors, highlights, and cuts at this location with same day service! Thank you! Keep up the great teaching and service!

Second visit today and I quickly recall the extended service time from my first visit. That being said, Avery did a fantastic job from begining to end. Asked all the right questions, seeked a second opinion from instructor when needed which I appreciated and overall did a fantastic job. Both my cut and colour turned out great..will just make sure I give myself more time next visit. Well done Avery, super happy with your work!

Completely incompetent customer service - I was rescheduled once because they forgot their closing time. They then attempted to reschedule me without a clear reason. I expressed my desire to keep the appointment, and they accommodated my request, only to call me again the day of my appointment to reschedule because no one showed up to work. I was fed up and got my hair cut elsewhere, and promptly cancelled my appointment. They called me again the day before my cancelled appointment to confirm that I was coming. I understand that it's a school, but they're also running a business and should figure out how to do so.

I am extremely happy with my all-over highlights and cut from Cas and Amy. They cut a lot of hair off but I felt like I was in safe hands. They were fun and I really enjoyed the experience. I was also overjoyed when I got to the register and heard the price - less than other professional salons and I was happier here than in the past. I am also pleased with the cut - three days later and it just falls into place, I barely have to do anything. Five stars all the way. I also felt good helping students get their hours during Covid (which must be very difficult during a pandemic) so they can graduate. Get a great style and support students!

They coloured my hair black instead of brown and kept thinning out my bangs which looks so stringy I have to keep them pinned back. 50 for dye and 20 for haircut not recommended. Go to Kimithy.

It's a school so they are still training and that's the point of their low price hair cut. Nice staff, they take about twice the time of a regular hairdresser and that's ok. But we are still paying, so students should ask a teacher for advice before trying something new for them.

Fun vibe and lots of great people. I am a regular and have had great experience with hair cut and colouring and their complimentary hand massages! The only time I had a problem was when they accidentally scheduled me with another stylist than the one I requested and when my mani smudged on one nail. Other than that they give you full attention and cater your requests. One thing though make sure you have plenty of time as they are students and still learning so they take some time.

First time client today. Mabel was my stylist and she was amazing. I walked in with some ideas, pictures and an open mind. With these things she had a vision. With the support of both the teachers other students I walked out with an amazing haircut. Highly recommended!

Came in for a haircut to cut off my split ends. My hairdresser was quite quiet, but nice. I was not asked what I want for my haircut style (ex. Layers) or how I want the finish style (ex. Straightened). The products used on my hair are still a mystery to me. When I went to put my head in the hair wash basin it was not adjusted despite the hairdresser asking me to put my head in, and she still did not adjust it until I started moving it. My actual cut has choppy, with very clear levels of lengths of my hair where I asked for layers and cut more than needed before checking-in with the teacher. The teacher came to check on the cut 2 times. She checked a single piece on each side and the back, and despite cutting them she did not check anything else which felt very rushed. All together a choppy cut, not enough teacher guidance and I will not be returning.

I love this salon and I will definitely come back. My positive experience started from the receptionist; she was very friendly and welcoming. Booking an appointment was very smooth and I was lucky to have an appointment on the same day ! My hair stylist was one of the student, Laura, a very professional, talented and friendly young lady. She took an excellent care of my thin tired hair, and at the end I had the most wonderful highlights with a pretty hair cut! I was also taken care of by their amazing expert teacher, she was keeping an eye on her students and she gave me the perfect advice. All in a very affordable price ! I believe that students do a perfect work, because they put all of their effort and focus, and they really do their best to succeed in the eyes of their client. Thank you Laura and thanks to your Teacher.

Avoid for dye jobs. I had an appointment for two pm, was not seen until 2:45 and was looking to have a dye job done. The instructor gave the student the formula and then off we went. The student was slow but definitely thorough. After washing everything out only the roots were dyed. At this point they were closing so the instructor asked me to come back another day, to which I declined as i didn't want to leave looking like that. I should have and just worked the dye out myself. The instructor took over and very hastily and quickly dyed my hair to get me out of there. $60 later and four hours of life I have three different hair colors going on and extremely damaged hair. Absolutely zero apologies or offers to fix it at another time. No excuses for the instructors behaviour, if a student makes a mistake take the time to properly fix it and not rush through so you can get home. I just want to cry about my ruined hair.

The booking of appointment was straightforward and friendly. I guess my expectations should be more realistic as this is also an education institute and in line with the price of the haircut. I gave the stylist some general criteria (ex. easy to maintain, shorter haircut for summer etc.) but she didn't seem comfortable with coming up with her own suggestions. We had also talked about somethings that weren't done. Overall, the haircut turned out ok but I will probably have to get it cut again in the summer. I am not sure about coming back here again (felt like less attention was given to me because I just wanted a cut rather than highlights or other more complicated styles like other patrons).

I've been coming here to get my hair cut, styled and colored and I'm always more than happy with thew results. Prices are fairly cheap and the quality of service is great. The teacher is on the floor the entire time and also checks before and after the cut/color has been done. Will continue to be a customer here for a long time in the future!!

My hairdresser was so nice, you get the whole salon experience and a great price! There are teachers on the floor all the time, hairdressers are very well prepared, you'll be pleased for sure!!
