Randomly dropped in this morning to see if I could get something done to my mop of unruly hair. Met with Kaitlyn (sp?) and had a lovely consult. She asked me a bunch of questions while checking out my hair and then got to work after asking if I'd like any refreshments. She is professional, friendly, easy going and a gem of a stylist. Shop was clean, fairly accessible and had pleasent music.

This salon is so much fun! I am always in love with my hair when I leave. My go-to stylist is Jade, and she is very detail oriented. All the staff are incredibly would definitely reccomend to others.It has an old-school feel to it, the decor in this place is so unique! Everytime I go there is something new. Love the Bitter Wendigo!!!!

Brought both my daughters ages 7 and 11 went for kids cuts. They spent a lot of time with them and their hair looks great. Been to many other salons and kids cuts were always rushed. Will definitely be back.

After not being to a salon in over 2 years I was excited for the experience and this funky looking place seemed ideal for myself and my family. A one stop shop I thought! But after receiving a cut and colour I went home and was not at all happy with my colour. I tried to contact the salon owner twice via email on how we could fix it it with no response. I was told email was the best way to contact or book an future appointment. To say I’m disappointed is to say the least! Hopefully I can find another hairstylist willing to fix it. Sad because other then minor issue with my colour the rest of my experience was great. But now the lack of customer service and communication has made me not want to go back ever!

I wish I could give this place more stars because of the great customer service and friendly environment. They did exactly what I wanted style wise and actually really impressed me with how good the haircut was. I'm normally picky with the places I go but everything about this shop screams come in and meet us. I'd 100% recommend for anyone reading this to go here!

This place made me trust a barber with my beard again. Incredibly friendly, and patient. Took the full hour and didn't try to rush. I got a haircut and a beard trim. The haircut is great and the beard trim went far beyond my expectations. I would give this place 6 stars if I could, quite possible the best experience I've had with a barber shop, ever.

Harley does an amazing job on my teenage sons hair! I have taken him to other salons in the past however I typically leave feeling dissatisfied and need to fix his hair when we get home. Harley takes his time and is very meticulous in his work, which I love!!! The staff are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. My son will not go to anyone else to cut his hair!

I am a fan! I have curly/wavy hair and have had trouble finding hairstylists that will NOT cut my hair as though it is straight. I made an appt. at the Bitter Wendigo and was given Caitlyn as my stylist; she listened to my account of why I have been unhappy in the past and she spent two hours working on my hair to give me a haircut I would love, and I DO! Not only did Caitlyn give me a fantastic low maintenance hair cut but she's a lovely person and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her while I was there. I am so pleased that they have opened their business here in the Oshawa downtown area, please bring your business/hair to the Bitter Wendigo, they deserve to do well and I think that if you do you will be just as pleased as I am.

After a rather traumatic and expensive experience at another salon, the Bitter Wendigo saved my hair! I am a naturally dark brown, curly haired person who had the aspiration to go blonde a little over a year ago. In order to get there my hair went through the gradual process of highlights, to an overall bleach wash, never truly getting my hair to match the vision of a platinum ashy blonde head that I was dreaming of. My last two visits at another salon, before finding the Bitter Wendigo, had left my hair 50 shades of crazy due to inconsistent toners and lazy applications. I was stressed and my hair was too! Cut to me panic searching “Oshawa hairstylist” through Instagram tags, and stumbling across the artfully curated feed of the Bitter Wendigo’s very own, @dontbe.jaded. Jade’s Instagram feed is mosaic of dreamy hair colour, styles, cuts, and even some edgy fashion inspiration. What had sold me the most is on her profile not only was there a story dedicated to her blonde hair portfolio, but you can directly book a free consultation or a regular appointment with the Bitter Wendigo. I did not hesitate to book a consult, because I knew at that point I had nothing to lose! Walking into the Bitter Wendigo, located in the up and coming downtown Oshawa, I was immediately put at ease with very cool set up of the salon. As you enter you see a thoughtfully decorated gallery/shelf archway around the front desk that leads you into the styling stations. If I could describe the aesthetic of this place it would be an artists/musician’s cool city apartment?! Chatting with the stylists, I find out that I’m not too far off and that they have not only opened the place themselves, but they also have decorated it too. This isn’t your run of the mill clinical/spa type feel salon, it’s warm, interesting, unique – a reflection of the owner’s, the magicians. The free consultation with Jade goes swimmingly and I am immediately put at ease. She asks about my hair journey, analyzes my hair and its condition, then asks what my expectations are. From there, she develops a game plan and explains to me in detail, each step of how she would approach getting my hair to where I want it to be with a price/time breakdown. I was so impressed and had nothing but confidence in her abilities. The big hair day comes and my outlook is completely different than my past experiences of sitting in a salon chair. Where I was once on edge and filled with uncertainty, I was now comfortable and optimistic. The stylists are very friendly down for a chat or a comfortable silence, they let you just “do you”. There’s coffee, water, tea and just all around good vibes. The four or so hours in the chair pass comfortably and I cannot wait to see the end result. My hair is bomb. Dope. Cool. The platinum/ashy/pearly/bouncy blonde curly hair of my dreams?! Gone are the bands of strange orange/blue/muddy tones. I am shook. Jade is a scientist/magician/fairy god mother. 100/10. This was my first time at the bitter Wendigo and I had a GREAT experience. I stupidly put off getting my hair trimmed in November and couldn't wait to get into a chair by the first week of February. My cut is (supposed to be) long on top and short on the sides (think P!nk) but it had turned into something like a bad Chelsea Cut slowly being devoured by a mullet. I showed Caitlin six or seven pictures of what it was supposed to look like, with a couple of what I wanted it to look like and BAM! an hour later it was perfect. She was able to read my wacky hairlines and my obtuse cowlick and transform my mop once again into some beautiful and easy to style. My bedhead is cute again, not terrifying. And when I actually style it, it’s AWESOME. Thank you Caitlin!

Couldn't find a better more professional family oriented Barber and hair stylist. My barber does great shaves haircuts are outstanding. When you walk in the door Place Feels Like Home you can always chat away speak your mind. It's always best to make an appointment though. Prices are more than fair and service is outstanding.

The atmosphere in shop is really cool and mellow. Caitlin did a wicked job with my haircut! I hadn’t had bangs before and even with washed and un-styled hair, everything blends so nicely! I had showed her a couple pictures of what I wanted and I think she did a really great job of creating something similar and better suiting for me and my hair type.
