I have gone to La Merca many times in the last year. Simone does an amazing job. I had no idea what I really wanted to do with my hair this time except I wanted it shorter and highlights. Simone gave me another awesome cut and my highlights look fantastic. I haven’t had blonde hair in 20 years (before it Darkened to dark blonde) and never foils. I am always wowed by her. I highly recommend Simone and La Merca. Simone had cut my daughter’s very curly hair and it is the best cut she has ever gotten. Prices are great, great service and very friendly staff.

I am torn on how to review. They did an great job on my boyfriend's hair, and my colour looks lovely. But unfortunately the cut was much different and shorter than expected for my hair :( I have curly hair and had said that I wanted to retain the length and be able to put it in a ponytail still, I just wanted it more round. My hair was cut significantly shorter while damp and combed out, and thus these things weren't achieved when my hair was finished, and instead I have something more reminiscent of a slightly rounded bob (when I went in my hair was a little past my shoulders and now it sits significantly above them). This was my first haircut in a long time since I had been growing it and was so scared to lose length, and although the finished product isn't a bad hair cut per say, it really isn't what I wanted and I'm ultimately very upset with the result and plan to spend even more money to purchase a wig. I didn't have the heart to say anything to the stylist as she was so lovely to talk to. All in all the customer service was great and their colouring and straight hair services were perfectly fine, but I wish I hadn't spent my money to simply have to cover my hair and I definitely wouldn't recommend them if you have curly hair :(

Extremely poor service. I really want customers to read this, because Gino and his workers don't care even they burn customers hair. I had asked them for balayage service and they assigned Stephanie Wright for it. Where do I start ? She is so rude, doesn't know how to treat a customer and had put whole lot of bleach into my hair.. Literally fried them !!!!! First picture is how my hair were, second picture is how they fried it i couldn't even brush them without them breaking. I even paid for the treatment which i must say was useless as I can do better conditioner at home. I went in to show what happened and instead of rectifying their mistake, Gino started teaching me about "education". I am sorry this is not what professionals would do to you hair. And they said they can not colour correct it. I sat there cried, the staff didn't even ask me for a glass of water instead Stephanie kept saying to me that you keep pulling your hair from the back color correction is not gonna make a difference. Really??? are you even suppose to be a hair stylist !!!! what education have you got about hair ??? and the worst part they said they will provide me darker shadows which acutally turned up grey as you can see in the picture.. After messing up yet another time. SHe didn't even ask if I was satisfied and walked away. I hair whole lot of different colors in my hair.. this is their service!!! I will not recommend anyone going there. When I compained about how my hair turned out. Stephanie said all of her customers have same compainls. Then why are you letting someone ruin your customers hair??? I really hope this place hire better staff.. My previous hair stylist are way more professional and I made a huge mistake by even considering this place for haircolour.

And for Women simone,She is very friendly and sweet. She takes immense care on ur hair and make sure what you like and she brings out the same u wanted. She is the best hair stylist I can ever have and she recommends what hair products we can get. I loved the haircut she did for me. Thank u simone. I will come here again. I totally recommend this place for the new comers !! Also we can get good quality shampoos for reasonable price and returns acceptable in case we didn't like it.

The girl was so sweet but my hair looks so much worse than when I walked in. I'll add pictures of what I asked for vs what I got. I even gave her a chance to fix it because she turned my roots blue, which turned my pink into a muddy purple. After "fixing" it, it was still awful ???? Extremely uneven colouring. I paid $400 & my hair looks like actual trash ???? I'm going to have to get it redone elsewhere for even more money now

This was my first experience at this salon. I actually met the owners at my work. They were so friendly and great people. Rachel was my stylist and I gotta say she is talented and goes above and beyond. You can tell she loves her career as she takes before and after pictures and shows a lot of passion! I am having my hair done right now and I have never been so overwhelmed with kindness. The setting is a warm, vintage atmosphere. The vanitys are timeless and distressed. It is a unique studio that has your eyes darting at all the pieces that peek your curiosity. My stylist has just brought me a coffee. Waste of money. Went for hair cut and beard. Guy just trimmed around beard, when i asked for cleaning my beard and mustache with blade, he said he dont know it and told me the other guy does it who was already busy. Spent 40 dollars and i felt like I wasted them. Going to my regular salon for leftover job. Posted photos of the job he did. REALLY? Look at them i could better job at home while sleeping.

I walked into La Marca with apprehension because I’ve never walked away from a wash, cut and blow dry feeling like I should be in a shampoo commercial. Khris, one of their receptionists, carefully and thoughtfully considered all of my concerns and hooked me up with a stylist named Caitlin. The consult with Caitlin was great, she asked amazing questions to really figure out why I hadn’t had great experiences before. During my hair appointment, Caitlin was very aware of my apprehension and with every step, she made sure that I was okay with the huge change (huge for me) I was making. Everyone I encountered at La Marca was so kind, considerate and accommodating, I felt I was really being heard and I was so well cared for. Caitlin is the best stylist to ever lay hands on my hair and I will never let anyone else touch my hair again. I want to mention Caitlin’s vibe too, because that’s something that’s important to me... Caitlin is super chill and will converse with you, but she also won’t chat your ear off the whole time you’re there. She is focused, really determined to give you the best cut and she will earnestly make sure you are truly happy with your hair. I can’t rave enough about my experience at La Marca. I highly recommend this salon.

I've been coming to this salon since 2001 (when it was Classic Hair Care @5points mall). Gino has been my stylist so long that even when I moved to a city 2 hours away, I'd travel back here just to see him because he's the only person that can create the perfect hair that I can visualize, but not verbalize! The new salon is shocking to walk into-the design is welcoming, but also super innovative, creative and like no other salon I've ever been to...beyond stylish. Every stylist in there is impressively capable with colour, cut and friendly. It's a warm and welcoming environment (and they offer free espresso and hot beverages!) I have converted most of my own friends and family to this salon over the years and they all rave about it as well. Durham is fortunate to have such a prospective salon that's also welcoming to all ages and hairstyles!

I'm a male with long hair down to the middle of my back. I needed a change and was very apprehensive about doing something drastic. I had Ali as my stylist and cut my hair to just past my ears. I can't believe how much I love it. Ali is very talented, very knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. The prices are reasonable and fair, atmosphere is trendy and comfortable. After doing online research I find their product pricing very competitive and fair as well. I will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!!

First of all shout out to Ali because she's awesome and goes above and beyond. However I don't think I will going back. Another staff member made the experience distasteful. When I arrived one person was sitting waiting and I was told "oh ya you can't sit...laughed at it" when I was there for the 3 hours they yelled accross the salon to remind Ali her next client was waiting. My hair was still wet. I felt like I should leave so the next person could come in. I talked to them before leaving but I won't go back to feel like that again when I'm paying that much.

Chrissy is a fantastic professional hairstylist!! I went to this salon in February on a recommendation from a friend and was so pleased that I waited through Covid restrictions until Chrissy could do my hair again. She has a super personality and is an expert hairstylist!! My hair is thick, wavy and difficult but her precise hair cutting technique makes my hair look beautiful!! The salon is very relaxed and not pretentious.

They do an amazing job, very well educated and walk me through the hair cut each time and make suggestions according to my hair type and what i want according to the weather! I have had great cuts by their stylists But unfortunately I have personally only had 1 out of 5 very expensive color/bleach experiences go as planned and for the high pricing of the services offered i would expect a higher ratio of successful color experiences. So I would definitely go to them for cut/style/shave but unless its a basic dye job i would rather play the dice on a box of dye for $10.00 vs $250.00 of dissatisfaction

What an amazing salon at an amazing price. I would recommend anyone of the stylist at this location! I personally had Keirsten and she was absolutely amazing but while I was there (for 3 hours because I have really long hair) every stylist did phenomenal work from cuts to colour and so on! Everyone was super friendly and super professional it was an amazing atmosphere and the work was unreal. I would rate this higher than a 5 star if I could, and I've been to quite a few salons all over Ontario and by far this one will forever be my number one! I drove in parking lot and called the salon hoping for a lucky break to get a cut without appointment. They took me right away. Jensen was my hairstylist and she was amazing! I told her how I don’t usually go to salon and she explained benefit. More importantly she was so professional and kind. Jensen did an amazing job on my hair and she had little to work with. I told her I would leave the cut up to her and she was terrific. I have never received more compliments on my hair after a cut ever! And I’m 50 and only yesterday was cut. When I called them they hung up on me mid sentence after answering only one of my questions, extremely unprofessional & a terrible place to go would not recommend.

ALI IS A SAVIOR! CANNOT RECOMMEND HER AND LA MARCA SALON ENOUGH! I purchased a relaxer from a drugstore to straighten my hair at home. After applying the product on the right side of my hair, the relaxer had a chemical reaction and it started falling out. I immediately washed my hair out and I had lost a lot of my hair on the right side and what was left was completely burnt, sinzed and matted together. I called La Marca and even though they were closed, Ali took the time to answer all my questions, thoroughly explain to me what to do until I was able to get in for an appointment the next day. When I arrived at the appointment, Ali walked me through the whole process and she was able to save my hair completely. My hair is soft and pretty instead of fried and matted. She literally brought life back to my dead fried sinzed hair. The price was totally reasonable and not expensive at all. Thank you Ali!
