Fantastic barber shop. I have been twice and both Stephen and Michael did a great job giving me two of the best cuts I have ever had. They were extremely thorough, professional and friendly. The best barber shop in town especially considering they charge $25 which is very reasonable. The only minor downside is they only accept cash and E transfer which isn't a big deal for me but might be to other people. I will definitely be going back for my next cut.

Because my life is non-stop busy during the week, I needed to find a convenient place to coif my mane on a Saturday. Enter Rebellion. They opened at 9:00, I got there at 9:15. There were about 5 or 6 other guys before me - a sign that they give good cuts. When my time came, I sat down with Mike, who painstakingly made sure my fade was crucial and my beard commanded respect. He did a great job! Also, Steven was wearing a vintage Far From Ruin belt! That made me feel relaxed and at peace. 5/5 would recommend ????

I have very severe eczema on my face. I have a doctor's note saying I can't wear a mask. I am being discriminated against because of my skin condition. Not impressed. Also, the flu is deadlier to children than covid. Why not have your staff wearing masks to protect the children all those years?

To his credit Michael at Rebellion contacted me to apologize and take responsibility for his behaviour. I accepted his apology and respect him for doing it. Let's give him a break, we all make mistakes. It's how we deal with them that counts. My initial post Perhaps the nastiness experience I’ve ever had as a customer anywhere. My long-time barber retired so I had my hair and beard trimmed by Michael at Rebellion. He was a bit abrasive but hey, I was looking for a new barber not a best friend. The haircut was fine but the beard trim was poorly done, he totally disregarded what I asked for. Oh well, it will grow out I thought but I’d like to get it right next time. Trying to be diplomatic I politely called rather than visit the shop but he insisted I come in and show him. The next day I dropped by, not to criticize, but to show him what I prefer so that next time it would go better. WOW! I was subjected to the most arrogant, angry, name-calling tirade loaded with f-bombs and insults. I thought he was a going to hit me he so furious. And he overcharged me too! So I’m done with Rebellion and hope I’ve saved others from a bad experience too. No hard feelings Michael, but you really need to control your temper.

You get what you pay for - a cheap haircut. I was able to get a refund but that won’t fix my hair. If you want a quality haircut where barbers actually listen to what you ask for - spend the extra money somewhere else on a good barber. Came in for the first time today to get a basic haircut, and asked to keep the length in the front, they did the opposite and the hair in the front was cut super short with inconsistent lengths throughout, sides were barely blended leaving me with a very sloppy looking haircut. I’ve had some pretty bad haircuts before but this tops it as the most inconsistent and sloppy job I’ve ever had.

Great place for getting a very professional and awesome-looking haircut for a more than affordable price. The high quality of the haircuts is accompanied by great staff and equally great music. After visiting this place at the end of 2019 it quickly became my number 1 choice for getting a haircut in Victoria. The only thing is, last time I went to the place, the barber was a bit patronizing; however, I did pitch a pretty bad idea for a haircut to begin with. But it was not excessive to the point of an issue and I've gotten a great haircut in return. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a haircut in Victoria ????

I first noticed a poster advertising a free haircut. It was posted on apartment cork notice board. I thought this was interesting as the impression I got from the poster was a more than upscale joint. I put it out of my mind until I was shopping and reconnecting with my friends at Sound Hounds. Around the corner, on Pandora and Oak Bay Avenue i had the good fortune of walking by an open door of what appeared a "happening". There was about 20 patrons eagerly awaiting their turn at the chair. It occurred to me that I would want to encourage and support anyone who has the faith in himself and the trust in his skills to establish himself in this most competitive feild. A free cut it s never really free but in this case, weather I manage to get in today (last day of promo)or not, the REBELLION barber shop has managed to secure one very loyal, connected and supportive client. Personally I was stoked to see Rebellion wasn’t filled with people in newsie caps and handlebar mustaches pretending it’s the late 1930s and discussing the new line of $60 beard oils. It’s what a barbershop should be. Good barber, good music and cool location. Looking forward to seeing what the shop looks like when the windows are painted-up and a few more flash sheets are on the walls. Will for sure be back.

Today the owner came in to do the Christmas raffle and asked for my help picking one, so I threw all of the entries in the air from a bucket and he grabbed one. He thanked me and then started cutting people's hair as it was extremally busy. I ended up getting him to cut my hair and not only did he do an amazing job (he noticed that my part was in the wrong place and fixed it for me), he ended up giving me the hair cut for free! I also learned that he was not supposed to be working that day and only came in to do the raffle, but decided to stay and cut some hair because of how busy it was. It was such a pleasant experience and showed to me how much he cared for his customers and employees, so I really recommend Rebellion Barbershop to anyone looking for a solid barbershop! It was my first time there and it certainly wont be my last. Looking forward to coming in the next time!!

Good hair cut. Fast. Free cut August promo. All he asks in return is give a Google review. Of course when I tried to give a review at home , Google wouldn't let me. Then I remembered his instructions. You have to use your cell data, not wifi. Hope that helps promo customers on giving a Google review.

I am pretty particular about my haircuts, and when I'm away from home it's so difficult to find a barber who will cut it how I want that I'm often tempted to leave it looking like something pulled out of a motel drain plug rather than risk a shearing that will leave me looking like I came out of a Super Cuts on training day (but for triple the price!). So when my brother recommended a guy he'd heard great things about who charged under $25 and had a 5-star Google rating with over 400 reviews, I was still wary. This time, though, the reviews are right. Michael was quite possibly the best barber I've ever had. He was actually super-fun to chat with, and the haircut was exactly as I'd asked but that much better. The shop was also a cool little place that hit all the right notes. Next time I visit Victoria for an extended period, I won't worry at all about whether I can get a haircut at home before I leave. I'll definitely be back to see Michael again.

Walked in for one of Scotts free cuts. Immediately sat down to some Mario Kart and got to relax for a minute before we got started. I usually dont get my haircut too often because of the awkwardness of talking to someone you don't know. Here its a totally different story, felt like I was having one of my friends cut my hair and it actually turned out good! Luckily, the barber was really patient, and asked questions, and suggested something I never would have thought of on my own. Came here a while back, I don’t get my haircut often (long in the winter, short for the summer) and I’m pretty shy when I first meet people, and I’ve been looking for a barber since my last one left Victoria, Josh was incredibly friendly to me and made me feel not shy from the first time having him cut my hair. He knew when to talk / make jokes, and he knew when not to, he was incredibly patient with me, and his social skills were absolutely perfect, just like the haircut he gave me, which was hard for me to describe yet he still knew exactly what I was talking about (mushroom bowl cut but modern is how I described it) I made sure to tip 20 dollars on top.

Been going to Rebellion for over a year now and have had a positive experience every time. However, I had a cut with Mackenzie and he was very disrespectful. My attempts to have a conversation were immediately thrown away. When using the buzzer for my sides and back he wasn't careful with it, and was hitting me in the head every time he made a stroke. It also felt very rushed. I would recommend waiting for another barber instead of using him.

The Rebellion Crew are the Best! Stephen's been my main guy for probably the last year or so, and as a guy whose never 'loved' getting his haircut, I feel super comfortable in his hands. I just moved to the neighbourhood and was looking for a convenient barbershop. A friend suggested that I check out Rebellion, so I walked over yesterday to try it out. Wow, it’s such a gem! Michael not only cut my hair, but he also gave me a Barber Masterclass. He explained why I should and shouldn’t do certain things (e.g. asking for thinning) and he corrected for a number of previous bad haircuts. I’ve gone to a number of barbers in Toronto, as well as Jimmys, Victory and Brothers in Victoria. None gave me an experience like I had at Rebellion. I highly recommend Rebellion and especially Michael. I’m stoked to have such an awesome shop nearby my new place and I look forward to my next cut!

Update. Still very committed to a world class haircut. Had an apprentice cut by Steve today overseen by Michael who is most definitely the Boss. I called it the S&M special. By far the best head shapers in Victoria. Sadly they have given in to having music blaring, including a series called Singing in the Shower complete with old seventies Elton John hits. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. Thankfully they changed the channel to something less nauseating. Sixth star for Scruff. World class greeting.

I've gone to this shop for a couple of years now, from when Michael and Josh were in the small shop next door to now in the current iteration with several other Barbers, and it's been a mixed bag for me. I've had a couple poorer haircuts and a lot of good ones and I've found it depends on who you get and what the day has been like for them. Josh always does an awesome job, he's polite and quick with his clippers and scissors. He's not generally chatty but I'm okay with that, sometimes I just want a haircut and sometimes they just want to get you in and out. Stephen does a great job and takes the extra 15 seconds to figure out where your hair part should be and is thorough, while still being fairly quick. He's friendly and chatty but is happy to let you sit silently if need be. Michael can do a great job, but sometimes his head isn't in it and he's just getting you in and out as fast as he can which leads to a sloppy cut (part is off, stray long hairs) It really depends on the day and how busy the shop is. He's always the fastest there, which is a big part of their business model, but an extra two minutes on your hair makes a big difference. I've only had Kendra cut my hair once, and she was nice enough but I wasn't happy with the cut, it was too long and my part was too low, so I had to fight my hair every time I parted it. I haven't had any other Barbers cut my hair here, but I will continue to come back as the price is right and the service is generally good.

It's hit and miss with this place. Sometimes the owner's in a good mood, sometimes he's snarky and rude. Similarly with the other barbers – for whatever reason, some days you're met with attitude and shortness in their interactions and the final result is usually an inconsistent cut. Little peak behind the curtain here. The vast majority of these 5-star reviews were done so because they had a deal that exchanged a free cut for a 5-star review. My experience here was not pleasant. Michael was blatantly rude for no apparent reason, and he spent half the cut texting. His cut was well below average. Tons of better places in this city – avoid this mistake at all costs.

Update : got my hair cut this morning so my advice is get there a bit early, give yourself a bit of extra time and relax. Will feel so good cutting off that quarantine mop. Michael is a rad dude and knows hair. His deodorants are really good too! Would recommend to anyone with hair

I have been visiting this barbershop for months now, every time I get a great cut and what better way to give my thanks to the clipper lords of Greater Victoria by writing a five star review. Many, many times, Josh has helped me get a self esteem boost so I feel like a champion when I walk out the door. There is a salon next door that sells mens products that have a very addictive hold and smell. Be sure to go by there but have some cash in hand to pick up some of it, it's fairly priced as well to other comparable products!!
