Avoid it. The hair is cut very poorly, which cannot be justified even if they charge half the price or even if they offer a free hair cut.

Good customer service , convenient way of booking appointments, clean barbershop but sub par haircut, the barbershop does not even have many options to choose from off the pictures on the walls. They clearly dont understand what a fade is even though i have been very specific. My haircut looks trash right now . Even the lineup is garbage it dont even look clean.

Cozy barbershop. Amazing talent. They are a bit understaffed but probably because they get less foot traffic. Parking is a bit tedious because you have to pay YorkU parking roughly $3-4 per hour unless you park at residential areas and walk a small bit. My haircut and beard came out immaculate here though. I was helped by Stephen on most occasions. I highly recommend giving this location a try.

My friend went hours before closing and got turned away... There was legit only one customer in there, and two barbers... but they said "Sorry we're booked until Saturday". It was Thursday. They didn't even ask if he needed to make an appointment. He just needed a quick trim an line up. Went the day before too and was told by another guy it was better to come back another day because they were busy at that time (which was true.) Was never told the next day was totally "booked." I've never seen that happen in a barbershop... Feeling low-key racist vibes from this experience, because I don't know why they would turn away a customer when they aren't busy. Or perhaps they aren't skilled enough to cut curly hair and got cold feet? Don't know. Either way, something was definitely wrong.

Great haircut! Exactly how I wanted it. Reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the guy washing my hair wasn't really good. You could see that he didn't want to be there and he was forced into it. This place isn't exactly a professional place, more of a hangout area, but the barbers are great!

The price has gone up to $30 and they are not even professionals. Usually young guys who started in 1-2 years. The hairline on my neck is so bad, I’ll have it fixed to someone else. I am giving 3 starts because not all of my haircuts were bad. I can’t say I am ever amazed the job they did though. Average quality, high price, sometimes bad hair cut. Edit: I noticed my hair wasn’t cut equally on both sides so I decrease one star. The left side is longer than the right.

Went to Joe for a haircut and he used thinning scissors to take bulk off my hair. He ended up giving my a bald spot from using the scissors in the same place for too long. I noticed when i got home from looking in the mirror so obviously he knew too while doing the cut. Instead of letting me know he messed up, he let me pay full price and tip him without saying a word. Dont waste your time at this place

I have never been to a better Barber Shop. The vibe and atmosphere is incredible and when mixed with the pure talent from the barbers it makes for an excellent experience. With the amazing Hospitality and quality service, The Gambit York University barbershop is by far one of the best in the area.

In all honesty, a blind person with an axe could cut better hair. I didn't realize until after speaking with friends how bad this place is. It wasn't until I got home that I realized how bad the haircut was. The barber seemed nice enough but didn't have an idea on what he was doing. It was uneven and he left clumps of hair in spots. I am not a picky person either. Will not be going back again.... However, this place will most likely continue to succeed because of it's location, lack of competition and questionable high reviews. Maybe someone at the shop knows how to cut hair. Either way, he wasn't cutting my hair on this day.

I called in and confirmed the appointment with one of the employees. I like the service that's why I go there but their system needs an update so that this doesn't happen to others.

Do yourself a favor! Avoid this place!!. I asked for a simple 1.5 trim on the sides, it was just AWFUL!! The barber was very friendly, however, the quality of work was just unacceptable.

Finished in record time like I wasn't the only one in the shop. I could've done a better job blindfolded with a pizza cutter. Truly the most tragic haircut I've gotten.They're nice people but definitely learned to cut over Zoom. And costs $40! Go somewhere else unless you wanna wear a hat for 2 weeks.

Amateurs. You can tell how they handle the scissors as they cut and keep the shop maintained. Very messy.....gross and poor visit made me walk out. Not sure how the heck’s these guys have “Awards” posted on their door....this location must be a grimey one.

I got a haircut from The Gambit today and it was not up to my expectations of service. I booked an appointment in the morning and there was still hair on and around the chair and floor from the previous appointment. I had to wipe and kick off some of the hair that was on the seat. I asked for a bald fade and a one cm trim off the length on the top. But the fade is not properly blended in some areas of my head. My cut is not properly evened out and it looks like I have a man-bun pony tail riding off the back of my head. For a $30 haircut you'd expect more from the experience and especially when this barbershop has multiple chains around the GTA. I definitely do not recommend this place. You're better off going to one of those $10 haircut places if you want the same quality of service.
