The staff here are really friendly and for fans of everything geek, the decor can't be beat! But this haircut... It's not good. I booked an appointment for a trim with Jen on September 1 and I was told the appointment would be about an hour long. Now, Jen was really nice and energetic, so I wasn't too concerned when she washed and cut my hair in about 35 minutes. But given that I have very thick, wavy/curly mid-back length hair, it was probably the fastest haircut of my life. That should've been my first clue that things weren't right. When I came in, I think I had about 3 layers that were cut on an angle. Now I have 2 layers that are cut very bluntly instead of on a flattering angle. So now my hair is VERY fluffy/poofy. All I wanted was a trim to get rid of some split ends, no change in style. Also, I told her I was going to a concert later that evening and wouldn't be going home first, so I wanted it to look nice when I left. She asked me if I wanted product in it, and I said yes, as long as it wouldn't be too crunchy. Well, it was crunch city. She didn't even dry my hair all the way before I left because apparently that would make it frizzy (other salons have dried it all the way and left it looking silky). Well, by the time it dried, it looked so bad that when my friend saw me, she asked me what I had done to it. I wanted to cry. Considering I paid ~$70 and I'll have to go have this fixed somewhere else, I'm not at all happy. I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone with long/thick/wavy/curly hair. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place. :(

I called to book Alex, my stylist of three years, and found out that he left. I really needed to get my hair done (hubby's office Xmas party), so I said OK to one of the junior stylists. HUGE MISTAKE. I asked for a blow dry, high on top, ends curled in...nothing too difficult. I even showed her a picture. I ended up looking like Professor Snape. Plus, she kept asking all kind of personal questions as some attempt to small talk, and not getting the hint that I was not comfortable answering. I ended up having to go home and do my hair myself. Never again.

Taylor was fantastic! She listened to what I wanted and let me make the decisions after hearing her input. I've been trying to grow my hair out for a very long time and I was terrified to let someone trim it, even if that meant my ends would remain ratty and gross. Taylor trimmed it beautifully and had great conversation to boot!! I think I found my new hair stylist.

Haircuts normally terrify me. I waited 7 years to build up the courage to go get one. I feel like they put on kid gloves of respect and care at this salon. At no point did I feel like I wasn't in control, the stylist advised me of what she was doing every step of the way. I got what I wanted, my hair is still long but no longer weighing my head down. Add in super cool decor that helped make me feel comfy, smiling faces and just a general good vibe. I have never left a salon so happy nor have I ever wanted to go again but almost immediately after I left I was trying to figure out when I can go back for a trim or more. Just the best.

Taylor was my hairstylist. She was absolutely lovely and did a wonderful job. The only thing I can mention is that I booked an appointment for a wash and style and they told me over the phone that it's 50$ however when I wanted to pay they charged me 68$ plus tip it was around 80$ which I think it's really expensive for only a wash and style. But other that that it was a great experience.

My hair stylist was Ashi and she did an incredible job that reminds me of what you see on instagram. I can't recommend this place more but all I have to say is this my new home and I will go here forever.

Went for colouring services only. The end goal was a pastel colour, if possible. I’m realistic. First session on April 21st went all good; Removed some pre-existing colour, bleached, and applied a nice bright shade. Not pastel, but all good, it looked nice. Left happy. Went back on June 4th for second session to go lighter; second round of bleach, followed by colour remover because the shade of semi-permanent colour that was applied during the first session left my hair stained green even though I was assured it was only a semi-permanent and would lift out (it did not). But no problem, eventually left with a beautiful pastel shade and was completely thrilled… until I got home and noticed the backside of my hair had melted off and noone had the decency to tell me at the salon. Stylist said it was overprocessed. Yeah, bleach was left on my head for a full hour then colour remover was applied right after. I was watching the clock trying to trust in the professional. Was offered a free undercut/haircut to make up for melting off years of hair growth but opted not to - would rather have my hair back. Traumatized from the hair loss but ohwell, the colour was perfect so tried to cover the missing hair with hairstyles. Still doing this months later waiting for it to grow back but it will take at least 10 years to reach the length it used it be. Tried to forgive and forget, maybe it was just an honest mistake. Stupidly went back for a third session July 24th to get just roots touched up since how can anything go wrong with just a touchup? This time I left the salon with a bright non-pastel shade again like it was after the first session. So all of the hair I lost previously reaching the pastel shade was for nothing. Also had discussed multiple times at the first two sessions that I do not like pink-tones and wanted blue-tones. After third session somehow left with hot pink tones. Bottled my rage but did cry at the sight of it and after getting shafted for a second time by this same stylist. Was told by the stylist that she is not a therapist, lol. Nice. Manager attempted to cheer me up and I was given a shampoo to help fade the ugly bright pink. Spent the next several weeks scrubbing my head with baking soda and shampoo mixtures at home to fade the colour some. Thousands of dollars gone, plus large tips paid at first two sessions, roughly 18+ hours of my life gone sitting there, and left with large chunks of missing fried off hair now looking ridiculous. Hair destroyed. Have been dying my own hair with products from Sally’s since then with no issues, no melted hair and nice pastel shades as intended. Will never go to a hairdresser again in my life. (The photo is of after the second session - my hair was past waist length before this.) Finally worked up the courage to post this half a year later… Do colouring yourself, don’t trust your hair to other people.

Recently took a "wrong" turn through a dresser and found this place on the other side. ???? I stopped in because I was in need of some big alchemical changes in the hair department and had heard spectacular things about this shop. Let me start by saying that I had an inch of regrowth, sort-of rose gold hair and was a total mess. I wanted to go a natural ginger color and was super nervous about the change. Hillary, a true Color Witch, magicked away all those fears- and the terrible, washed out curse of yestermonth's dyes and dead ends. I left there looking and feeling better than I have all year (might have been the HP potion they hid in the donuts). Truly transformative. I can't wait to go back again for another adventure.

I loved this salon. It was my favorite in New West, the staff is super friendly, but this time the hairstylist did a really bad job and didn't listen to what I asked for. I asked her to keep the same tones or close to what I had before, but she changed most of my hair to be very bright even though I told her specifically I don't like bright tones. Honestly looks like a mess, and they charged me $341. I'm so disappointed, not going back there again.

I have been coming here for months and my first trip was a full on cut, color and style for a cosplay; and beyond happy with the results from any other salon I've been to. The friendly (and hilarious) staff, atmosphere and themed decor immediately made me feel at home. Taylor was my stylist and knowing me, I am usually picky with my hair in general but I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience! After explaining what I wanted, each step of the way was described to me clearly before being executed so I felt comfortable yet in control at the same time. It's not often that I trust new places but B-Bombshell changed that for me. Heck, even hearing the nerdy chatter around me caused me to chime into some of the conversations and I usually keep to myself. In the end I couldn't stop looking at my hair in the mirror because I couldn't believe how accurate the results were to what I asked for! My verdict? 10/10 would recommend ????

Came in twice, first time I showed them a picture of a short Bob with curtain bangs and I left with a pixie cut. After, I came to get my hair lightened and toned. Hairdresser started putting the bleach from front to back which was alarming, but I trusted her. Went home and the front of my hair was completely fried. This was a while ago so hopefully they’ve stepped up their game

This salon is run by a group of diverse, amazing, fun, skilled stylists who are also dyed in the wool geeks/nerds/fanbois (and fangrrls). The walls are covered with fan art from games, comics, novels, movies and more. Each stylist also has there own little stash of "personal geekery" too. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting and they're good at their jobs too. More than capable of a standard "shampoo, cut & colour", they also specialize in fun things like hair tattoos, hair extensions and fashion colour dye jobs. All ages welcome too - I'm 52 and have been getting my hair coloured by Alex for the past 5 or so years - and just recently went from "Irish copper red" to glorious shades of magenta and purple (see the photo I've attached)

Great place! Easy-to-find location just off of the 22nd skytrain station. The best part is it's run and staffed by gamers like myself. I completely felt at ease there and my stylist Ryan was A+. Since we did such a drastic cut going from long hair to short he made it clear I could come back and trim/adjust things if I wasn't happy with the cut after going home and playing around with it. I'm definitely coming here again! :)

Finally found an excellent hair salon where the staff is friendly and very good at what they do. Julia helped me today and I must say that she did a wonderful job! She was very patient and listened very carefully to what I wanted my hair to look like and delivered exactly that. My girlfriend went in for a color,trim and thin. First she was given a novice hairdresser that we only found out after we started complaining that she had only being working there for 1 month. She spent the first 3 hours asking fellow hairdressers how to cut,color,thin and brush her hair. This should have been the first warning sign that she was inexperienced. After leaving the salon and taking a closer look at the hair you can tell that there are many bleached parts of hair where no color was applied. The color chosen was Navy blue and ended up being a teal/green color. Her hair instead of being thin and trimmed the stylist took a foot of her hair even after my girlfriend expressed her anxieties about having her hair cut short, the hair cut was so poorly executed that my girlfriends ends ended up being more damaged then when we went in. After paying 358$ for my girlfriend to have her hair butchered, we contacted the hair salon on a refund to which they would only give 38$ for a haircut and agreed to fix the color, but fixing the color is pointless because the hair is cut so short that color style she'd like is no longer applicable without cutting the hair even shorter.

I saw Ashley as my former stylist has moved on, and she did a wonderful job trimming and shaping up my shaggy locks into a gorgeous cut. I've already had multiple compliments, always a good sign. -------------- Front desk staff is friendly, Hillary is great to talk to and a great hairstylist. Always does a wonderful job with my hair. Not a lot of room in the waiting area but they make up for it by having a lot of things to look at. If you're a fan of any fandom, you'll find something here to pique your interest.

my hairdresser was very sweet. she did exactly what I asked for and gave me lots of tips for my hair type. i was happy with my haircut and bought the shampoo and conditioner she used on me. I was however very surprised that the front desk worker and some of the other stylists (not mine) did not have their hair styled. I certainly don’t style my hair everyday, but the receptionist had greasy, stringy hair and one of the stylist looked like her hair hadn’t been washed or brushed in ages. I was just shocked to see this lack of care at a salon. it kind of turned me off. i’m not sure if I will return, because as I said I did like my stylist

Unlike those $20-range salons I previously visited once every two years out of sheer cheapness/laziness, B-Bombshell prioritizes service and quality over value and speed. Prices start at ~$28 (not including tip) depending on hair length and stylist, but their on-site team is warm, welcoming, and genuinely look like they're having a good time and thus want to be here. My stylist was Lindsay and she's awesome. She's not only professional, but she's amazing with handling extra thicc Asian hair, building a rapport with her clients (bonus points if you did your homework and brought up her interests as mentioned on her B-Bombshell site profile), and (especially) coming up with hairstyles given very little prompts. The one she gave me makes me look like I can manipulate "tears" in reality IMO. Looking forward to booking my next appointment at the salon (be it with Lindsay or with another stylist). But in the meantime, I'm happy to sing the praises of B-Bombshell should the topic's brought up.

After getting to know my stylist at BBombshell, I decided to step it up and get my hair coloured for the first time ever. I knew nothing about how colouring works so relied on the knowledge of my colourist. Jaspher was so easy to chat with and explained that because I have naturally blonde hair, I could probably get away with skipping the usual bleach step (before colours are applied). So I went ahead and got blue and green fashion colours on my hair. I loved how it looked and was extremely happy. However, after only a week or so, the colours started to fade dramatically until they almost faded to nothing after a month. I was unhappy as in-salon hair colouring is such an expense and I had truly loved my hair when I had initially walked out of the salon. I decided to email photos to the salon to see what they thought and they generously offered to have me back for a do-over at no cost to me. I’m so glad I reached out to them again and so thrilled with their response. I went back and this time they recommended a bleaching step. My colour turned out even more vibrant than before and I love it. I’m so impressed they stepped up and asked me back. Thank you very much BBombshell and Jaspher in particular!

First of all, this salon gets extra points because there was an amazing She-Ra rainbow decal on the front glass so there’s that. Jen was my hair stylist. They made me feel so welcome, and the conversation was so organic that I kid you not, I had no idea any time had passed when my hair was done. I got a sick undercut from them, they made sure I liked the result, and they gave me exactly what I was looking for. The place is well decorated, geek goodies EVERYWHERE. A lot of hairdressers are LGBT, so it’s very welcoming and non-judgmental. This is my new hair-salon, they’re amazing and if you got this far into reading my review, you really should go!

I had a rough morning and, on a whim, decided to get my hair done to see if this would brighten my mood. Being new to the area, I had not yet chosen a home base at which to get my hair done on a regular basis. When I called the salon, the lovely lady who answered the phone was able to make a same-day appointment with Lindsay H, who was already lauded for her hair-painting skills before the appointment was booked. Between the pleasant conversation and the overall outcome of my hair, I would DEFINITELY go back. In fact, I will be going back. Anytime I want to feel fabulous or need a borderline sleep-inducing head massage. (Yes it was that good). Lindsay has truly mastered the craft of doing hair and listened to what I was looking for, as well as offered advice to keep my hair healthy. I usually don’t sing the praises of any establishments or individuals who work there. But it was necessary. Well done y’all.

overall a positive experience, my stylist was generally friendly, fun atmosphere, and i’m really happy with how they cut my hair. 3 stars is for how payment was handled. i knew the stylist’s rate before the cut and was fine with it. no talk of anything being different before or during the cut until i get to the counter to pay when the stylist whispered to the receptionist something about an “extra thick” add-on then turned away. mind you, i don’t have particularly thick hair (natural brunette so maybe slightly thicker strands) nor is it a “difficult” texture (mostly straight). i ended up paying about *$25 more* than i expected after tip. i don’t mind paying for a quality cut but would’ve like to know in advance and not be put in an awkward position where i can’t say anything without looking like a jerk :(

I got a pixie cut done 4 months ago at a different salon and decided I needed a trim. I had been trying to grow out my pixie cut and I made sure to convey that information to the stylist and to ensure she did not cut my side burns. It took over an hour to get a trim done. She also "styled" my hair by putting some gel and passing it through my hair with her fingers. Once she was done I noticed she had thinned out all my hair and had cut my sideburns to the top of my ears. She literally cut all the length I had grown out over the past 4 months. I wanted to cry. Upon going to the till I was charged a ridiculous price for a "trim" especially on a pixie cut. I was too embarrassed to speak my mind or call back since either way it's not like they could put my hair back together. Very disappointed.

I got into contact with the manager Matty and was immediately invited back and had a different stylist give me a look that suited the length I now had. 2 stars because the hair stylist I got did not know how to deal with thick straight hair. I told her I wanted weight taken off and layers but was left with a very blunt and boxy cut. She blamed my hair being too thick. I had to go somewhere else after to get it fixed and it looks 100% better and exactly what I wanted. She was somewhat friendly and talkative but it felt forced. I started coming to Jen awhile back after meeting her at ECCC in Seattle (small world!) and I'm so glad I did. I had always wanted to experiment with fun colors, but as a natural redhead I was very hesitant. Jen was great at helping me take little baby steps (starting with a stuble blonde ombre) until I was comfortable enough to dive in to full blown colors. She consistently makes my head look all kinds of pretty and I'm always so happy every time I leave. B-Bombshell is a wonderful salon that is reasonably priced and filled with the most talented, awesome people. My hairdresser was Chevy. I went in for the consultation and it was a pleasant experience. I booked an appointment which I had to reschedule and Chevy was nice enough to reschedule. After which I made it clear that I had a very busy day so I was making time for this and I was very very excited. Paying over 300 for the hair, I wouldn't agree in the first place if I didn't like it. The day came today, I went in only to find out that She had taken the day off and never replied to any of my messages on Instagram either. The guy there was very cold and said he had the time for a haircut but I will have to book another time for hair color or I can just reschedule. These guys never called me to give me a notice. In fact I got a message confirming my appointment a night before. This is the worse kind of experience because they clearly do not care or respect their customers time. Despite paying the high price, where is the quality of service? I reached out to Chevy again and she left me on read without answering. I wonder if its because of my SKIN COLOR! I'm brown and the way they treated me was not right. Its unacceptable. I will never go back again.

Big thanks to Sarah for giving me my first pleasant hair salon experience ever. They were super attentive, checked with me throughout to make sure I was happy with the process and result, and talked me through their styling process (products, tools, strategies, etc.) so I could get an idea of how to deal with my hair going forward. The conversation flowed effortlessly for my entire appointment and the atmosphere was awesome, it felt almost like chatting with an old friend. I've always had super, super thick and unruly hair (Scottish!) and my previous professional haircuts have ended in disaster. Sarah did an amazing job working with my hair, despite how much time and effort is needed to thin it out and layer it. At no point did they seem frustrated or tired. Now my hair is light, bouncy, and fluffy for the first time in years! I love it. The salon itself is super easy to get to, the stylists and staff are all really friendly and it was a light, jovial mood the whole time I was there. You get what you pay for, and I will definitely be coming back when it's time for a trim!

Lindsay was my hairstylist and she was so kind, friendly, knowledgable and had some great recommendations to grow strong, healthy hair. Not to mention, I couldn't have got a better haircut. It was exactly what I asked for if not better! Highlighly recommend this B-Bombshell Salon. Great service ????

I have had nothing but excellent experiences at B-Bombshell. I have been seeing Talisa exclusively for a couple years and she has always been excellent. She works wonders with my naturally curly hair, and after 4 years of growth we cut it off for a Wigs For Kids donation. She gave me a short cut which is super easy to style, and will grow out beautifully. Talisa also gave my almost 3 year old son his first haircut - not an easy feat. Little kids have a habit of moving, and Talisa adapted wonderfully. She explained what she was doing, and had him sit in my lap so he felt more comfortable. Not only did he look like a handsome little chap after, but she was very kind to me, as a child's first haircut can be very emotional for the parent! In short, this place is fabulous.

My friend had a very traumatic hair experience over here the second and third time around. They offered to fix their mistakes, but then once we got there they didn't even try to listen to what she wanted. For the price-point, I wouldn't recommend.

Geeky vibe with great stylists. Going in for a haircut here is always a great pick-me-up, and all of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. A great salon for those with a nerdy bent. They also use very environmentally friendly products. Perfect place to take your personal style to the next level, or for special occasion styling for things like cosplay.

Talisa has executed my cuts and colour perfectly, and she’s the easiest stylist to get along with. Finally, a salon that has eased my many haircut anxieties!

Hands down the best hair cut and beard trim I've had! The fact that it's easily the coolest salon I've ever seen is just the icing on the cake! I've seen Talisa several times now and she's always super friendly and very easy to work with, same goes for the rest of the folks that work there. Whether you're a nerd or not, it's a very welcoming atmosphere. Also, as someone who always forgets to call and book an appointment until well after business hours, their online booking system is excellent. If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I absolutely would.

Excellent attention to detail with covid precautions, and always friendly staff at every step. Cuts are fabulous, and I get compliments everywhere I go after a fresh cut. Best hair cut of my life! I had Talisa and she is an absolute rockstar. I have thin curly hair and she knew exactly what to do with it. I've never smiled so wide on my way out of a hair salon! Beyond the excellent quality of the cut, both Talisa and the salon itself have a super friendly and approachable vibe that made my time there really enjoyable. I've already booked my next appointment and I'm so excited to have found such a great salon so close to home!

Amazing experience! I went and saw Lindsey who was extremely personable and very talented. I had to go back to fix some length issues and my 2nd hairdresser was Hilary who was also amazing. Overall great customer service and consideration towards their customers. Very accommodating and I would definitely recommend.

Decided to do a big change by cutting my long hair about just above shoulder length and came in with a reference photo of what I wanted it to look like, even something close would have been alright. I didnt notice it at the time because the lady curled my hair in tight curls before I left and she had my chair turned around the whole time so I couldn't see myself. But the next day I noticed a super bad choppy job with layers short on one side and long on the other and it just looked like a bad punk hairdo. Also I told her I wanted it to be long enough to put in a pony tail, and she cut it wayyyy too short, I wasnt able to put it up at all! It was unsalvageable by any other hair salon without cutting my hair short short, which I was trying to avoid the whole time!!! I still look horrible and my hair is still choppy, will take a long time for it to grow back. My advice: if you are gonna come here, book with one of the senior stylists, not the junior ones.

B-Bombshell is the place to go whether you are a Geek, Nerd or if you're just interested in getting a great cut or dye. I've been personally attending the salon since it has opened and I have always left happier than I was going in. I normally grab a cut and a dye from Ashley and my colours are always vibrant despite my naturally black hair. The staff were also open in teaching me the best way of managing my hair and do great recommendations on different products to maintain my colour and volume for as long as possible. But in general, the staff are an amazing team! They are always there to support each other and they are always friendly and willing to talk to people from all walks of life. You can be having a cut and have a lighthearted conversation with the owner of the salon without even realizing it. For this reason alone, B-Bombshell feels like it's own community the moment you walk through the door. But if you're not feeling up to mingling with others, they have a wide variety of things to entertain you while you're there - Games, comics, magazines, books, or even the different pieces of artwork that hang on the walls as decorations. All in all, B-Bombshell has definitely lived up to it's slogan "Where Geek is Chic."

I love their hair products, they are very expensive but sure deliver a lot, they smell amazing and make my hair look luscious and beautiful. The service is great, nice and courteous , my only complain is the price, that's why I am giving it a 4 star.

Everyone at B-Bombshell are super friendly and easy going, and they are all very professional and helpful with advice. Their dye is amazing (I had my hair dyed purple in May and below is a picture of the colour in October), and I still have hints of the faded colour today (January). Been coming for almost a year now, and my stylist Hillary is wonderful! She's engaging, caring, hilarious, and always listens to her customers and provide suggestions that she thinks will work nicely with them. Best of all, their prices are very reasonable, considering how professional the quality work is provided, and they have a tea menu!

I first went here in 2015 - it was the first time I got to dye my hair and it was absolutely amazing. Jenn did a fantastic pink and purple color melt. Ever since then, I've been going to B-Bombshell, except now I always see Taylor. It doesn't matter what I ask for, every single time I go there for a haircut, it's knocked out of the park. The staff is so kind and sweet and they're geeky, just like me. It feels really good to be surrounded by familiar art and figurines, to be honest, and conversation isn't as awkward like if an old lady at great clips asks you what you're into and you say anime and she has no idea what that is. Amazing place, I will go here until it (hopefully never) closes.
