Visited the salon today for a hair treatment and style (flat iron). The experience was satisfactory at best, the stylist was kind but my hair feels a little waxy. I was charged NINETY DOLLARS for a wash and flat iron - whoa, had I known this price at the beginning I wouldn’t have booked. I have long curly hair so I 100% agree with an up charge but $90 for this service is robbery. My total visit was 1.5 hours and my stylist took another client for 25min while I was under the dryer for the second time (1st dryer was about 15min) so my total appointment was less than 1 hour. I usually pay $40-$45 for this service with better results.

My experience AT first wasn't so great. I think it was because the lady there was new. I asked for an ombre from dark brown to light blonde and something happened where the dark brown (which looked more black) leaked throughout my hair which made 95% of my hair look black. I paid and went home. I was very unhappy so I went back and a different lady named Sarah fixed my hair and she did such a great job! I'm glad I met her! I'll be asking for her when I go back ! :) I recommend Sarah. I'd also like to apologize for my previous comment. I was angry at the time and wasn't thinking. Thanks!

I came to Mehron after one of the cheap places gave me a terrible haircut and was fortunate to get matched up with Taylor. She is fantastic! She knew exactly what to do to fix my hair and made it look great, even though my directions were pretty minimal beyond wanting layering. I will definitely be back!

I had my hair cut here last August. One year later, my hair has finally grown back to what I started out with. I asked to have it evened out on the bottom to help me grow it out without having a funky mullet, but I ended up with chopped layers that were literally two inches long around the crown of my head. The stylist had another client waiting and seemed to rush at the end, leaving choppy layers and very short hair at the top that brought my hair from shoulder-length to Rod Stewart on top. I had never cried from a haircut until that one.

I had an alright experience at the salon as a whole, but unfortunately, after asking for balayage on my hair (which was quite dark, so I understand could NOT ago blonde immediately), I was told it would be lightened to an colour far different than what it currently is. I know dark hair is hard to lighten and needs to be done in stages, but my hair is so copper orange in many spots that it looks like I tried to home bleach it.. my stylist worked hard, and I appreciate that, but if orange was the only colour that could be achieved, I wish I’d been informed. I tipped her well and paid over 200.00 for the colour, and it’s currently so brassy that I almost don’t feel comfortable going out in public with it. The pieces she foiled are very blonde, but the rest which she opted to not foil are quite orange and I’m disappointed with that. I also know that over time they are going to get progressively more orange and brassy, which is going to get more embarrassing ???? I just wish I hadn’t been told it would be one colour to have it be another.

I came in with a bad haircut from another shop in town and the girl who worked with me took her time in order to fix it. I really appreciated her patience and attention to detail when fixing the haircut I previously had gotten from the other place. This place will definitely be my new "go to" place in Nanaimo.

Had a appointment for 2 pm on my 50th bday, was told that I had to wait 2.5 hrs more, I told them it was unacceptable and went to the place next door and got the same cut for 20 dollars cheaper, did a excellent job and received a generous tip that could of been yours. Ad well after my cut was done in 30 minutes I walked right by the mehron salon and notice that they only had 2 customers and there was 3 stylists. .. management needs to step up

terrible went in for a toner spent over an hr and left with a very light tint that washed out in two weeks she also convinced me to buy the 30.00 shampoo in total it cost me 140.00 for nothing ,I went to another salon she toned my hair in 10 minutes cost me 40 $ was told I got taken for a ride Never go there again neither should you

I’ve been a regular here for years but this one lady completely messed up on my hair I wanted gradual hilights but she gave me little strips didn’t look gradual at all and on top on that told me that she couldn’t put layers in my hair because it’s so thin and damaged (thanks...) then forgot about the oloplex treatment, ripped out a ton of my hair when it was wet and straightened it when it was also wet...completely fried and looks terrible, then tried to overcharge me by $50...Sooo unimpressed I had a event and my hair looked so terrible.. The owner is amazing tho I’m just scared to go back

I love the way my hair turned out! I haven't gone to hair shop for last 3yrs but I finally decided to do something. To be honest, I was not sure what to try at the beginning and pretty nervous about the change but one of the lady at the salon named Katherine, guide me through very thoughtfully and carefully that made me feel much confident, comfortable and helped me decide what I should try without much stress. I ended up doing hair dye and it looks fabulous! She definitely knows what she is doing and she seems really loving her job!☆ Also the same day, I brought my husband and mother in law for a hair cut! They loved it so much! Honestly my husband was having a super hard time finding a right hair cut in Nanaimo since last yr when we moved here. Anyways, folks, thank you very much for reading my reviews and I feel like I need to share the honest good news for the people who deserves the right hair style! Thanks again, Katherine! I'll definitely go back Mehron again!☆

I did a walk-in, not really expecting to be fit in that day but the girl at the counter was really helpful and asked one of the girls, who was painting her nails, if she could take me. The girl didn't really seem like she wanted to and said I'd have to wait. I was totally cool with waiting so came back in 30 minutes as instructed. When I came back, another girl said that my stylist would be a couple of minutes and offered me a beverage. 20 minutes later there was no sign of my stylist, nor any indication of when or if she planned on coming out. Kinda felt like she had enough of the day and couldn't be bothered with me. Anyway, I left and will never come back. The 2 stars is for the other stylists who were kind enough to acknowledge me.

Was so happy to find a place willing to perm however was nothing like i asked for. Perm is way too tight. I called and asked if anyway to correct and stylist didn't even bother calling me back. Also totally fried my hair. :( i gave them all info and told stylist how fine my hair was but she got distracted during processing time. Not o.k Spoke to owner will be fully corrected. Thank you so much. :)

I have been battling with an uneven cut for the past year and a half. I got one bad hair cut (at another salon, not Mehron) and my regular hair dresser (again, from a different salon) has been unable to make the left and right sides both the same length despite her 10+ years of experience cutting hair. I like a blunt cut and wear my hair straight so it is quite obvious when the cut is uneven. I chose to try Mehron because I wasn't getting anywhere with my other stylist. The young woman that did my hair was obviously quite new to hair dressing and at first I was somewhat worried that I might end up with another bad hair cut. There was no need to worry. She was the first stylist to actually get my hair even on both sides. What a stylist with 10 years experience had tried to do on three separate occasions, this young woman did on her first try. She was extremely friendly, attentive and precise. She did not compromise speed for accuracy. I can't for the life of me remember her name (the young woman with blue hair), but I would highly recommend her and Mehron Salon.

I first called and was hoping to get some questions answered because I am new with getting my hair professionally done, and wanted to be aware of what I was in for. The woman I was talking to wasn't really answering my questions and I was still very nervous. Later the same day I went in to the salon and mehron himself welcomed me in, offered me tea, coffee, etc and answered all the questions I had. I am very comfortable with what I want now and I know what wouldn't be great for my hair. Definetly going to come back to mehron for sure!
