I wasn't originally planning to get a cut here but dropped in because the nearby shop couldn't accommodate us. A female barber who you would normally expect at a hair salon did a clean fade for my kid and Sho took care of me for a clean bald fade. Sometimes you just need to get in and get out quick and this shop made that happen.

If I could give a ZERO I WOULD. I sent my son's to get just a line-up and these "barbers" couldn't even do that. It was so off. How could you not notice that the line is on a slant. One side was way higher than the other(front and back). And what's sad about it is both of my sons had different barbers. If I were you I wouldn't waste your time going there. What a disgrace.

The Freshmen I've had quite a few barbers in the past but when you find a barber that consistently cuts you precisely the way you want every time, you don't change! I've been seeing Sho for probably 8+ years and wouldn't change it for anything or anybody. Sho and his team are master at this art form and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. I've always had great service and haircuts at this place. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The reason this isn't a 5 star review is my shave. I paid $10 on top of my regular haircut (Which was just what I wanted) for the shave, but I had a bad experience. I went home and saw patches of hair under my neck and cheeks. I had to shave myself once I got home. I hope this is a one time instance. Besides this, I'd recommend this place any day.

I booked the night before for a next day haircut with bizy. The dude was late for my appointment telling me he got up like 10 mins before my appointment, real professional! He asked me what I wanted and I was very clear. I asked for a low fade and a line, what I got was the same generic haircut that only these young barbers know how to do. I got normal fade and he forgot the line. At the end of the cut was no where near what I wanted and was super short in places I normally would keep longer with a 'low fade" I will need to find me a older barber that has experience cutting more than 1 style of cut. Won't be returning! Response to your response to your response,: If you feel that being tardy is acceptable then you obviously live in another dimension. I had the same issues that buzzy did and I was there for my appointment and wasent late. You didn't even address the fact that he didn't even do my haircut to my liking. The haircut wasent bad but wasent what I asked for. I always leave a tip as courtesy. I don't wear my emotions on my sleeve this is why I didnt leave unhappy as I know if I would have said to bizzy the haircut wasent what I expected, I know his kind, he's very confrontational so I let it be, hair grows back. I tried your shop out as my last barbershop is always very busy. Bizzy said he knew the barbershop and was quick to cut them down. Again very unprofessional. I have gone back to my old barber as they actually listen to their client wants, and I will just have to deal with their busy schedule. There is nothing you can do to rectify this as your response is clearly protecting your employees and not seeing the clients point of view when you cannot accept fault. Terrible business practice. When you learn to take accountability, you grow... But in all of your negative reviews, you're quick to point out its always the customers fault. Good luck and all the best!

Worst place ive ever been to. That guy khan doesnt know how to cut hair i called asking whether they were busy and they said no come right in and i did and he took me for my cut. He was rushing my hair cut because apparently he had other clients coming in (lol?) and he told me to next time schedual an appointment so he could take his time. I was shocked when he told me to hold my own hair up so he could cut around my ears aswell ive never had a barber ask me to hold my own hair. I have a terrible hairline, I've been with multiple barbers who gave a generic fade, nothing too fancy. I spoke to my friends who recommended a barber around the area, the barber cuts my hair half way and tells me he is busy! I ask other friends for a barber who can fix this and they recommend Angelo from freshmen I paid him a visit he cut my hair right away told him to do his style and ever since then never been so excited to see get my haircut, he can make a guy like me with a terrible hairline look like a freshman. His haircuts are fast and precise he cares a lot about his customers and has a great conversations with you 10/10 would recommend!!

I got some other barber who works in the far back right, wears a hat. Not sure the name. He literally was on his phone for 5 minutes acting like I wasn’t there, I showed him what I wanted and he didn’t even listen. Then I told him I wanted a fade and he started at a number 2. Then he screws up my hairline. It’s a good barbershop but please don’t make customers go to a different barber then the one they book. This guy literally took 15 minutes. This guys a joke, waste of my time.

He always asks what you want and never cuts hair without a full understanding of what you are aiming for. I've been on the hunt for a good place to get a haircut for years now. Came across Freshmen because they had extended hours - they were open when nobody else was open. Since then, I've never had a problem getting in and out quickly... I can't stand waiting around for an hour at some other places. To my surprise, I found these guys were really good. They gave me the haircut I was looking for. They're friendly, conversations are good, and the shop is clean. But the most important is they know how to cut hair really, really well.

I honestly came here just because they had such great reviews, and figured its worth a shot. I got the barber Shoaib, and this man gave the cleanest fade I've gotten in a long time. This place is awesome for cuts because there is not long line of reservations like other places in Mississauga. Usually I can just call the day of or walk in and be able to get a cut. The fade is always on point. Only downside is they only do cash but luckily there is an ATM in the shop.

Was referred to "Sho" by a friend and had been there a few times previously. I had to change an appointment twice due to a personal emergency that was out of my control. As soon as I entered the shop, to my dismay "Sho" made sure he aggressively communicated being irked at myself changing the appointment. I attempted to explain that I would rather reschedule than make a booking and not show up and that the situation was out of my control but he wouldn't have it and kept continuing to be aggravated and quite aggressive. I had been going to freshman since I was happy to support an up and coming business and support our local community, unfortunately after todays incident I felt personally insulted and will be taking my business elsewhere. Side Note - Walked over to Groomsmen (Yes, The Groomsmen!) just across the street and was greeted with warm smiles and an awesome atmosphere on my first time there! Best part, the prices are the same! Customer service is key for a small business to survive in today's highly competitive market and to my dismay Freshman, if they survive, has a long way to go in that area. Disappointed.

I’ve visited a few barber shops before, however, none of them have the same vibe as FRESHMEN. Since my first haircut I never had an issue, nor wasn’t disappointed. The price is fair for the services provided by the barbers. Usually when my barber Angelo (I highly recommend) isn’t free, I tend to ask for walk-ins, knowing fully that they are all really good. I’ve never had any issues with booking online or on the phone, which is extremely important for someone like me who works full-time. I highly recommend FRESHMEN if you are a first timer or regular. These guys know what’s trending today. Not some average barbershop where they hand you a sample book and they end up giving you something completely different. Plus the bank is nearby so you don’t have to worry about withdrawing cash! A+

Golden. First time ever going to Freshmen and I was not disappointed, if I were to recommend a barber it would be Sho (founder). Great atmosphere, great customer service, I felt very welcomed and acknowledged by everyone in the shop which was nice. The haircut itself was very pleasing especially because Sho made sure to cover all areas of the cut to my liking. From, the fade, to the line up and most importantly the trim. Terrible attention to detail by the barber, to the point where my sideburns were different lengths by over an inch, despite having gone back to fix a different mistake. The barber I went to see (Moe) knows how to cut. He was able to give me my best cut to date. My issue is that the shop is not very organized. The first time I came in I had booked an appointment online but did not receive a cut until almost 40 minutes later because he had taken a walk-in and not removed the time slot online. Later that day I received an email saying my appointment had been changed to a later time in the day. Definitely weird but I'm thinking this was done to cover the late start. The second time I came, I booked again online for a 12 p.m cut on Sunday (when the shop is listed to be open on google and store front). I waited around for 15 minutes and left when no one showed up. There were 3 other people waiting that left just before me. I'm on a tight schedule, so time is very important. I was considering using this place on a weekly to bi-weekly basis but, unfortunately, I will not return. Suggestion: Tighten up schedules. Remove appointment times online when you take a walk-in. Keep shop operation hours up to date.

I first went to SHO just under a decade ago which its self explains how much experience he has and I have stuck to him since then, when you sit on his chair he gives you his undivided attention and gives you exactly what you ask for. There have been times where I have given him the GO to try something different and I have never been disappointed! he knows what's trending and better then that he helps put together a style that will suit you and looks nice which I found one of the best things as I'm very undecisive at times and I like to change my hairstyle frequently. One of my worst haircut experiences. How does this shop get such high reviews?!! I picked the place because it’s a walking distance and had hundreds of good reviews on google. I booked the appointment online, showed up and started on time. The barber must have either had a bad day or an attitude issue. He got defensive when i gave him feedback and his tone was so aggressive that I couldn’t wait for the cut to be over. At check out time, he asked for $35, which was surprising because when I made the booking the cut was listed at $25. And if that’s not enough, this barbershop doesn’t accept credit nor debit cards which is very fishy. The only reason any business would that is to evade taxes. I would never go back there and I’m starting to doubt google reviews credibility.

For the first time, I booked a haircut at this shop and with Angelo because a friend recommended him to me. Unfortunately, this was the worst haircut I've ever got. The fade looked like it was done by a beginner, extremely uneven and you can see the guide lines. I aslo said that I wanted around an inch off the top, but to my surprise, he took off around 2.5 inches. You're better off going to the Groomsmen across the street.

Unprofessional shop. I booked an appointment for 4:40 and showed up at 4:45. I waited until 4:55 while I watched someone finish their haircut and get up. Instead of taking me, the barber took a customer who walked in immediately as his previous client finished. I was irate and I let them know. As I walked out, the barber, I believe his name was Khan, followed me out shouting expletives back at me. What a terrible shop based on customer service and respect. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Seems like a constant rotation of personnel here. Every time i get used to a barber they leave with no notice. First i got cut by David, and without notice he left, and worst part is i had an appointment set one day, when i got there they finally let me know he was no longer working here. Meaning if i wanted him to cut my hair, i just wasted my time coming in to find something out that should have been communicated through the phone. From this point i got cut by Irving, which went great as he was very good at his profession. Now he is gone too without notice. How do you build a clientele like this? Am i going to need to switch barbers every month? I doubt i will come back to this shop, i will try to find a barber that is professional and works with consistent schedule. Do not like the constant turn around here.

UPDATE: Went back today to try again and i got a cut from a barber that goes by the name "Biz" he spent extra time to make sure I got the cut I wanted and accommadated to all my requests. The store owner also came and apologized for the previous time I went there and offered me my money back. He also left me a text to try and solve my issue, unfortunately I didn't get the text at the time. This experience was much better. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I used to get cuts from the owner of this shop for a long time when I lived nearby. I went in for a cut and the owner cut my hair. He used to take nearly an hour on his cuts and was definitely worth every penny. This time when I got a cut from him, he told me my hair was too messed up from previous cuts from other barbers and left my hair a mess. I had to ask him to cut it twice. He took under 15 minutes to do it as well. I wasn't going to leave a review but I thought about what he was telling me. He said to leave reviews when a barber doesn't do their job right because that is the only way they will listen. So that is exactly what I am doing. I don't doubt that he still has the skill, it just seemed that he wanted to rush my hair and didn't really put the effort in like he used to. Its a shame honestly, I was going to start driving from Oakville to get cuts from him again simply because I couldn't find anyone that matched his skill, but this left a really bad impression. The other barbers working there seemed to really put in work on their customers so I would still recommend going here and trying them at least once. Just try and stay away from the owner unless you've been getting cuts from him for a long time.

Went to get a haircut from raoul because my friend told me hes really good. He did the back of my head very well so props to him for that but the fade on one side of my head didnt match with the other side. I booked an appointment the next day to have it fixed and to cut my hair a little shorter and after leaving i relaized that the fade was still uneven. I asked to book one more appointment so i can get the proper fade without any mistakes and he tells me that its the best he can do. Also tells me that he could be cutting other heads that are paying money. I did after all pay $25 for the cut itself (which is quite a bit) and a $5 tip. Not the best way to keep customers if you cant provide the service asked for and fix up anything not done correctly. Not pleased with the service i received. I also felt a little rushed near the end. Didnt really get much of a chance to make sure everything was good with my hair. Also wasnt shown a mirror to see the back of my head so i had to get someone to take a pic of it. On the bright side, I enjoyed the music that played while i waited but i will definitely not be coming back here even tho i heard sho is good at cutting hair. Also not very punctual with time. Both of the times that i came in, i was booked for 11am. Had to wait till about 15min after to be seated for my cut. Dont really think theres a point in booking appointments if you cant be punctual. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO GO TO THIS BARBERSHOP AFTER READING MY REVIEW. One bad experience doesnt mean urs will be bad too. I have heard great things about Sho and the other barbers:) Raoul if your reading this, I want you to know that I respect you and thank you for giving me a good haircut overall. Just have to be willing to accomodate customers when they ask for it.

For those tired of spending long hours waiting for a cut, the fact that you can book an appointment online or via telephone is an added bonus, especially if you are like myself who likes to get in and out or often gets his hair cut and his son's [toddler] cut at the same time. Ive been going to Sho (founder) of Freshmen Barbershop for a number of years and in a city where there are a lot of barbers and barbershops to choose from I can honestly say all the other reviews about him and the barbershop are true. BAD HAIRCUTS! If you have experience with other barbers this will be a waste of money and time. For the price of $25 you are getting inexperienced barbers with little knowledge of common barber terms ( excluding the owner). Asked for a simple low skin fade with 1in of the top, walked out with a TAPER and minimum 3in off the top. In addition without consent he lined up my side burns with an ice pick/point, every barber shop I have been to uses the commen courtesy of asking thier client weather they want the point or no side burns (standard with skin fades). Overall poor experience especially for the price, unless you get lucky and get a cut from the owner the rest of the barbers are still in training and don't have the experience to justify the price.
