Start to finish, I was there with 3 boys for over 1.5 hours, it was a Monday. Way too long of a wait, and with it busy, they take their time. One girl took 2 smoke breaks in that time. She was so cold and rude with my son. She shouldn't work with kids. If it was a bad day, there is still an expectation to have good costumer service and be professional. My son even said thank you, and she didn't even look at him as she said "ok". I had called ahead. I'd prefer you turn people away and say you can't accommodate or explain the wait times, and send your employee home to deal with things. The other girl poorly cut my sons hair (took a chunk out and hard to explain the other mistake), and had to go back for someone else to fix it the next day. He was made fun of at school. Then received the refund from being over charged $13 from the first day. Terrible experience. We won't go back! The only good part was Erika, who was great and fixed my sons hair.

I have never left a place feeling embarrassed about my hair until I left this place. They did not do anything i asked them and my haircut is lop sided.The left is about an inch long and the right is more like 3. $30 on a haircut and and addition cost to go somewhere else to fix it. This was my first and last visit to this joke of a place.

When to get a cut where it's 1 around and then leaving the hair on top a bit longer. The hair cutter literally cut on side and left the other one long. She made it so it wasn't really noticeable till I got home and noticed this bs. Would not recommend going to sport clips after the experience that I had after going there a few times. Each time the cut varies from decent to it being terrible.

Dear SportsClips, I've visited your Boardwalk location twice, the first time I had a acquaintance cut my hair was not a bad experience not the best hair cut but convenient, it is on the way home lots of parking good location. Now my most recent visit to your establishment I had my hair cut by Cate/Kate.... I came to this location as I was in need of a trim before I started a new job when I arrived I signed in and then I waited, waited and waited.... Now I'm not being overly dramatic but I would say I waited at least 20-25mins (and that is me being generous) from the moment I signed in to get my haircut, and it was not busy. One child and his mom were waiting when I arrived and another gentleman was just finishing up there were 3 workers but I still waited. A lady comes in walks to the back comes up front and informs me she'll be cutting my hair once she logs in and cleans her station; so patiently I wait some more until my name is called. So the lady comes back grabs me and introduces herself as Cate or Kate (unsure of the spelling, but lets refer to her as Kate from this point on) as we walk to the chair. First and foremost I would just like to say she is a very nice lady, very outgoing and charming. She is extremely knowledgeable about her craft and easy to work with we had a great talk about work, school and KW among many other things. So Kate asks me what type of haircut I want and I tell she (keep it short and clean on the side and back and leave some length on top) I ask her not to touch my hairline and sideburns, to just square my neck line and to clean up the arch around my years. Kate advises me that SportClips has brought back their summer special and that it's a great value so we decide on that (no price was discussed so that is my bad I should have asked) So the hair cut commences, she washes my hair gives me a scalp massage, throws a warm towel on my face and then places a cold one on next. She then takes me back to the chair and she gives me a shoulder massage, we talk some more about what steps I should be taking for my hair type and such (avoid 2 in 1 and condition more... DEEP conditioning is required) Kate then styles my hair and tries to upsell me on some products (I resist) she styles my hair and our time together is done. We finish the cut and she takes me upfront to counter to settle the bill and charges me $29+tip (now I'm a low maintenance kind of guy, for a men's cut and wash seems a little pricey but okay fine I didn't ask about this price on this "summer special" so thats on me) So I leave thank Kate for the cut and hit the gym, everything is good I go to the gym have my workout, I grab a shower and this is when I realize that Kate mangled my right sideburn, like completely ignored its natural order.. the kicker is Kate either forgot or just ignored the left one... So now my sideburns are unbalanced and I've paid salon prices for this awful haircut, and I've become the butt of several office jokes.. I just want you to know that I will always avoid SportsClips after this most recent visit, this experience was very disheartening. Finally what is worst than getting a bad haircut where your hairline and sideburn (not sideburns) get jacked up?? How about paying salon prices for it... #thisplaceistheWorst I wouldn't wish this type of haircut on my worst enemy. Just warning anyone smart enough to read this, go somewhere else. They messed up my hair good several times, they rush the hair and everyone there is just yapping not even cutting hair, PLUS the hour wait because of their talking. Not serious at all, really bad quality and they cannot style very well. Heres a small list - bad hairline, raised up one of my sides, cut hair to short, pointed the front of my hairline. The only bonus is the product they sell. would not reccomend.

Worst haircut of my life. With the good reviews, I thought I would give this place a second try as my first experience was awful. Well, the second takes the books for the worst haircut of my life. The stylist was so quick and messy, despite no one else waiting. I came home to see longer parts in the back in certain areas, the area around my ears was hacked at, and the top of my hair is all different lengths. The stylist was not friendly and there price is not competitive, especially given the results. I would think twice about coming here if you want to walk out looking better than you came in...

Patricia is the best. I use to go to another place to cut my hair, but they raised prices and well I like a good hair cut and all, but not willing to spend an arm and leg for one. I booked in my phone and when I walked it, place was packed. I was able to move to front. After my cut, I got a wash and hot towel. Then a massage. Oh man, it felt great to feel like a king for half an hour. Thank you Patricia for making my day, now I'm at home and my girls are all over me and it's crazy here, but I'm so relaxed. Definitely recommend this place and I do suggest booking instead of walking in.

Experience varies from really good to really bad, unfortunately I've had too many really bad to bother going back again. Edit: Erica, Jenna, and Stacy do great work the other stylists are hit and miss I've made the mistake of trying other stylists and ending up with brutal hack cuts. The new online sign in is great however after signing in, waiting 30 minutes and watching my name come up to "on deck" Stacy and Jenna went home and two other girls were left to cut the 5 remaining clients, this added another half hour wait for me. Like I said pre edit, not worth my time, I won't be back.

So went shopping to kill time and signed in at 1:30 and called in to make sure I am first with her. When I get there at 2pm for appointment there was 2 other people added before me pushing me back to 3:00pm. How does this happen! This is ridiculous!

I walked in right at 9 when they open and waited till 10 to Not even end up getting a haircut an watching people who walked in after me get theirs first. Not only one person went before me an walked in after me but 5 people went ahead of me who walked in after me. This is not a good way to set up a hair cutting place especially if you want your customers to keep coming back. If you want a good quality real haircut go to a barber shop not this silly place called sport clips. If I’m paying that price I should be a valued customer. Update Oct 22. Worst experience ever, following many good experiences. Expected about 30 minute wait, they were busy. Ended up being 1 hour and 20 minutes. Helicopter parents were causing huge issues hovering next to their child the entire haircut. This was with kids up to 13-14 years old! No longer a place for men. Unless they change their policies (no parents allowed to hover) and pricing (increase it for young kids to match adult), I won't return.

I have brought my 3 year old son there 3 times now. 3 different hair stylists! Every time...?...GREAT!! They all knew how to distract and "cut" quickly, with an end result of a dazzling haircut and style! $16.95...plus a $5.00 Tip!! So inexpensive! ! In and out in ten minutes:) They explain to my son what tool they are about to use. ..let him feel the clippers on his finger before they use it. Very child friendly!! I will go no where else , as long as their establishment is still there. Kudos to a great , friendly and affordable hair salon! ! For those that reviewed a long wait time?..maybe ask what is a good time to come when there is not so much of a wait. I have never waired. Usually visit around 3:30 pm. W.D

Neither the app and the website are working, so I called the location to ask how long of a wait it would be, and she hung up on me! The last time I called earlier this week they at least told me it would be a three and a half hour wait, and told me to check the app even though I said it isn't working. I get that you guys are busy, but since there's no other way to check I figured I would call, but after this very rude behaviour I probably won't bother with this location again. It only takes a second to say the estimate wait time but I guess you have enough customers queued up that you don't want to bother being professional. I used to be a regular here but I won't be going back to this location after this.

I checked-in online and arrived on time at the store. When the stylist asked me if I have checked-in online I said that I did and I waited for my turn. In about 15 minutes, I see that my name has been automatically deleted from the list and I get an SMS that my check-in has been cancelled. I am guessing what happened is that the app thought that I have not arrived at the store yet and decided to cancel my check-in. I think the stylist should have marked me as "in-store" in the waiting list when I walked in. When I asked her about it she quite rudely tells me "I do not know what to do about it, there are only two of us in the store". I understand that you are a busy store but a little courtesy towards your customers can go a long way. It is not like I was rude and demanding. I just asked her why my check-in was cancelled automatically. I had been going to this store for the past 3 years but not any more. Really careless attitude towards customers.

Had one of the worst experiences here. Specifically ask hairdresser to not cut, touch, or shave my sideburns. First thing she does is shave my sideburns. On top of that she spins me around on the chair at the end of the cut and acted like nothing happened. Does this in no way affect the entire store but there is an Asian lady there (forget her name) can barely speak english and totally screwed up the the two guys in front of me and my haircut as well. The man in front of me had an embarrassingly uneven and not blended cut, and the boy in front of him had a huge line through the back of his head. Just embarrassing! Although I had good experiences in the past, I will not be back, due to the 40 minute wait times, high prices, and this last terrible experience.

First time visiting the sport clips brand and I was not disappointed. My stylist was very friendly and made sure she gave me exactly what I was looking for. I can’t remember her name but she had three elephants tattooed on her forearm, would definitely recommend asking for her in the future. Really nice to have all the sports on big TVs during the cut, and the MVP is well worth it as you get an extra wash, head massage, and you sit in a recliner massage chair. Really calms you down on a stressful day as an added plus to the normal haircut experience which really has nothing extra going on. Overall amazing. I will be back.

I'm absolutely so upset and embarrassed with the experience i went through. When i put myself in cue to get my hair trimmed that was much needed, no where on the site did i see they don't do women's hair. When I arrived and the lady took me to the chair. I was already embarrassed as I've had some issues with depression and care on my hair. She informed me they would charge me more than a mens haircut, which was fine. She then said we only do guys here and maybe occasional older women with short hair. So i said i didn't know and apologized ( later to find out their site says otherwise) she said she had one brush and told me i had to brush my hair. I've never in my life been asked to brush my own hair at a hair place. I then asked if she could help me, so she did. Then we talked about washing my hair and she said she's not sure she could wash my hair, that it might get tangled ( my hair was medium length) i said we can try then she said i only have mens smelling shampoo. I said i don't care. I was desperate to get a trim. She dry cut my hair, then near the end said she wouldn't have time to wash my hair because she has other clients and she's only supposed to spend 17 min on a client. ( i was only in the chair for maybe 20-30 min ) i was so bummed as it's one of my favorite parts about getting my hair done. So i just said ok. She sprayed my hair, put leave in conditioner and i went to pay. Over 40 bucks i had to pay for that. No wash. Brushing my own hair. Feeling rushed. Brushed off on what i want. I'm appalled at the experience here and I'm embarrassed at how i was treated because i was a female.

Every time I go to get my haircut there's only two people working and the wait is 45min- 1 hour. I've been there multiple times since the first week they opened but I'm done even trying to go after this last attempt. Stop showing up on my Google maps. Also your waiting chairs (benches) are very uncomfortable, plus trying to watch TV while waiting also sucks because all I see is a reflection of the sun because you don't have any blinds. Pretty much a joke.

This is a really neat environment for haircuts. The appeal to a guy who loves sports like myself is absolutely there and the time goes by fast when you're watching last night's sports highlights. Everyone there is friendly and willing to make sure your hair is cut and styled the way you would want it to be. The quality of cuts is a definite step up from the Supercuts and First Choices of the world. It is a affordable and painless experience. I would, and have, recommend it to friends.

I understand that it boils down to someone wanting to make a buck, and cant fault someone for trying to do so. Giving credit where credit is due, for trying to appeal to guys with the whole sports theme. The cut quality is about the same as first choice / top cuts, etc. In other words sub par. Defiantly not barber shop quality. But you get what you pay for. It is nice that they do offer free neck trims between cuts. However it would be better if they offered shaves. My experience included the "MVP upgrade". In this case the time spent on massage etc would be better used taking more time with the actual cut. As its been three weeks or so since being there and I am already seeing a trim is needed. Whereas normally it would be another couple of weeks before my hair would be at this stage. After this experience would rather go across the street to Maurizios Barbershop across the road, Oasis Joe's in uptown waterloo (Best cut in the tri - cities IMHO). Or a last resort Tommy Guns in Fairview park mall.

Took my 6 year old for a hair cut (he loves Sport clips Parkside) and had my 3 year old daughter with me. I've never had to wait for more then a half an hour at the Parkside location and had to wait almost 3 times that at The Boardwalk. If I was advised of a longer then "normal" wait time I would have taken him elsewhere. It was a Monday evening at 4pm? No explanation given as to why (other then the fact that only 1/3 girls were actually getting people through) one woman took over an hour to shave a mans head and face?! Literally with a buzzer and he had no hair to speak of to begin with. The other I'm assuming took a break? There were 2 customers ahead of my son and they were completed start to finish before the man getting shaved was even done?! I completely agree with giving good service but taking more then an hour on one customer when the store is quickly filing up (before he was done 3 more customers came in to wait)....... It's just truly frustrating to find a salon my son likes (6 year olds can be picky!) and then to find a closer location to our new home and now I have a bad "taste" overall.....just wanted others to know how frustrating it was having to wait for so long when it's not explained or a simple "I'm sorry it took so long".....my daughter was not impressed to say the least!

I went to Sport Clips at The Boardwalk with my daughter for Christmas Festive hair trimming, but I had a very worst experience with them. You can see their professionalism in these photographs of my daughter and I believe it doesn't require any explanation.! Oops! very bad experience, I'd neither recommend nor go anymore to them. A lit compensation/discount would never replace their work at my daughter's head.!!

Was told yes in a couple hours to come back and I would be her first booking. Came back right on time. Stylist was just in and had no client. Took my child for a trim. Told them he likes his hair long and we just want some of the weight taken off. He came out looking like Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber. Never asked for the MVP service. Just wanted a kids haircut. He didn't need a shoulder massage and shampoo. I paid 30+ dollars for a terrible haircut. For that price I could have gone to a real barber. I ended up having to come home and fix it because he was so unhappy with how it looked.

Extremely disappointing and upsetting experience at this location of Sport Clips today. A request for a certain size of clippers and a cut was changed on a child without checking in with the parent. Resulting in a much shorter cut all over than the child is comfortable with. One upset child now home, and a final decision - after many cuts for our kids over the last few years that have varied in quality - to not use this company again.

Manager was rude and unwilling to admit she wasn't following covid protocol by allowing numerous people in the store at once. Not impressed. Also, their check in system is beyond dumb. Simply take appointments so people aren't standing around, in this case inside in numbers exceeding the limits of 5 at that time.

You can get a great, no frills cut for a very reasonable price. It is literally just the cut. I would ignore the base price and look at the cost with MVP. This service gets you a seat in a vibrating chair, a wash and scalp massage. You also get a hot towel on your face which is wonderful. Once you get back to the chair they use this massager on your shoulders, its a bit hokey, but is included so why not. I am always so delighted by the staff. But they do get insanely busy, so consider an online check in to skip the wait.

I can’t even give 1 star. I went in for a trim and showed a picture and she ended up chopping all my hair off. It was a longer style and now it’s 1/2”. After showing the picture she said that she was just going to try something different and it was too late to stop in the middle of her cutting. Never going back and never recommend going.

This is my new go to place to get my haircut! The staff are almost always friendly and greet me right away. I've never had to wait more then 20 minutes to get in, if it's busy. The MVP haircut (shampoo massage, hot steamed towel/face massage, shoulder massage) is very worth is, being about $26. I came in on June 26/2015 and they had lots of advertisements that you could get "Double the MVP Experience for the price of one. Limited time only" - which sounded great to me, however I was then told that it didn't start until July 2, and they were not sure why it was being advertised yet. Doesn't make sense to me, as there's no dates on the posters. My other one complaint I have each time, is that the stylists do not brush hair off of your face. It bugs me as when we go to get my MVP wash. I start brushing a ton of little hairs off my face as we're walking over; and they don't after the wash either. As I get home, I keep noticing hairs all over my face... Most hair studios have brushes or even towels to wipe hair off your face. It makes me feel like I need to shower afterwards because I'm so itchy

I've been there two times and both times the wait was ridiculous. If you expect customers to wait 4ever you should take appointments. The lady's that cut your hair are in no hurry to move the customers along, they actually leave you sitting while they sweep the floor and chat with each other, the waiting room is full and there they are talking away.
