When I get a haircut, I want to feel pampered. This guy was so rough. I also want to feel confident after a haircut. This makes me less confident. They also use those weird scissors that give you a layered cut by thinning out your hair. He was literally pulling my hair out. Overall, I don't look well groomed. They also only take cash. I never carry cash. Luckily I had some on me, otherwise it'd have been such an embarrassment.

I've been a customer of Black & White Barbers' for a few years now. In the beginning I didn't have a specific barber and would just wait for the first available one. However, the first time Keyan cut my hair I knew he was the one who understood my hair and who could style it in a way that suits me. I have very tricky hair which is unruly and most barbers have a difficult time dealing with it. But Keyan is a real professional and knows his craft very well. I'd highly recommend Black & White Barbers and in particular Keyan.

After shaving myself for 35 years, I thought I would 'treat' myself to a shave from a barber. The Google reviews were good and it was close by so I thought I would give it a shot. Shaving services were listed on the website, so I assumed this was a typical service for them. The place was bright and clean and inviting and I was seated right away. After a few back and forths (all I wanted was the shave) we got going. Things seemed to be going well enough but I wasn't sure if he was getting all the tough spots. When he was done I got a 2 foot mirror check and I did a (too) quick hand check and it seemed like an OK shave. When I got to the car I checked in the mirror and was dismayed to say the least. I've never shaved myself this poorly in my whole life. There were patches missed all around my nose and mouth and a long hair remained from my beard at the corner of my jaw. I could have gone back, but do you really want to complain and have someone go at you again with a straight razor? I was nicked a fair bit as well, so I had no confidence that round 2 would be any better. I immediately went home and reshaved. Note that I use a safety razor at home and rarely cut myself. I can't comment on the quality of the haircuts, but the shaving service left much to be desired.

I recently started going here for my haircuts and they do a fantastic job here. I haven't had to wait longer than 30 minutes before I was in a chair. The staff dont talk much but if they keep the quality of cut the same i dont see that being an issue personally. Always feeling fresh when I walk out. Average haircut is 22 bucks.

Got a straight razor shave with Hooman. Service and shave were decent. Very little wait time even during the lunch hour. I sat down with a coffee expecting a half hour wait, but was seen within 5 minutes. Only issues were that the price listed on the website ($14) differed from the actual price ($18), and they only take cash. Also the coffee was garbage, but a nice thought.

I've gone four times and had four different barbers. Every time they have shown they really care about their work. Environment is pretty cool, usually have some eastern music playing, or a movie on. They have small TV's at every barber station and they play fail videos or people doing epic things type videos. Recommend.

I have been a happy costumer for years. These guys are professionals, they listen to you and will remember your style for the next time. Remember to have cash on you, although there is a cibc couple of blocks away. The only complaint that I have is that some days the wait is a bit long, I suggest that you call in advance to make sure that you get a place in a timely manner. This place looks better after the renovation and the free drinks make the waiting much easier.

Okay, so what to say about these guys... I've been going here for almost 10 years now, and these dudes are simply the best. Though the shop is normally busy, they've set up TVs all around the place to help pass the time between waits. The (owner?) recognizes people, and knows who normally cuts their hair - he will normally direct the flow of customers to the appropriate barber. I can't say enough good things about these guys, and I honestly don't know why I didn't review them early. 5/5.

Decent haircuts! Been there twice and got what I wanted both times. The barbers could use a little more practice with the razor blades before using them on clients as I got cuts on my cheeks/neck and razor burns on the back of my neck where he cleaned up the hairline. Other than that, barbers could be a little more sociable but it's an overall decent experience. If you're looking for a place to go in quickly and get a decent cut and go somewhere right after, this is the place for you.

The Important Stuff: Fade was on point, razoring was done well for the beard I have and was skilled enough to know that he needed to let the shaving cream he used soften things up a bit just looking at it. Always good to find someone who's intuitive enough to know what they're working with as well as he was. The rest of my opinions and things: Good to go to a place that has an opinion and doesn't just say. What are you looking for and then just kind of lazily do whatever anyways. I wen't in here to get a proper honest opinion about a refresh and the barber had a bunch of good advice on upkeep as well. I don't know why more barbers don't do this it'd be an opportunity to sell more products. In this case he recommended I pick something up over at Shoppers for my hair type rather than pushing his own product so even a honest sales person. Overall I'm content with my service here this time around. Gonna stop by again for sure.

I have had almost no luck the last two years getting haircuts save for one location that is entirely booked most of the time. Everywhere I try seems to botch the job, sometimes to the point where I need to return (see Luxe Appeal). I gave this place a shot and I'm glad I did. I walked in and was seated immediately. The barber was professional and did a fantastic job. They do a straight razor finish on the hairline, a touch almost nowhere even attempts anymore despite it being one of the best ways to get a sleek looking hairline. The haircut was 22$, much cheaper than most salons that literally use a buzzer for the entire cut. I will continue to go here for the foreseeable future. Keep up the fantastic work barbers at Black & White!

These people can't cut black hair. My problem is when you don't state it prior to the cut, so the customer can then decide whether they want to take the risk or not. This one barber cut my hair like how a toddler would. It's not a barber tier haircut whatsoever and he still charged me $26 dollars. Like...Just please don't go here if you black.

Their most recent hiree is this one Egyptian guy who has no skill with a straight razor yet he moves so fast with it. Needless to say he nicks my neck in a couple of places. I realized it and used their washroom and showed them the paper towel that I had pressed up against my neck with a small amount of blood over it. When I showed them what happened one of the other employees said. "Do you have an allergic reaction to the straight razor? Some people bleed because of it." I was bewildered by such a comment coming from one of the others who have been there from the start. I'm sure if they read this comment they'll know who I am. But I don't appreciate being lied to. I've been a customer who's been getting straight razor shaves for 3 years from them. I still rate this place 4 Stars because of the rest of the other guys who are both honest and do an amazing job. It's an amazing establishment nonetheless. I just avoid those two at all costs even if I have to come the next week.

Updating my review. The first and second time I came here, great haircut for $22. The third time, they charged me $27 for the exact same. It really seemed like the stylist I got the third time was milking me for an extra $5 just because I asked to confirm the price. He even hesitated before saying $27, which to me sounds like a conscious decision to see if he could rip me off. That's shady.

This place operates under a walk-in only policy, which caught me as very strange when I first called in an effort to make an appointment. I still walked over, as I live nearby, to try them out. The barber was clearly very skilled and finished the cut quickly, the only problem was that it wasn't what I wanted. We spent about 30 seconds discussing the cut before he proceeded and I was very clear about what I wanted: Not wearing my glasses for the duration of the cut, I could not see it's progression. Final words; the cut was good, although not what I wanted and therefore is not a good haircut in my opinion. If you value volume and looking like every other man, or other such irrelevancies you may enjoy this place. If you're looking for something unique to distinguish yourself, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Best place to get a haircut at for a guy. They can make a homeless guy look like a millionaire in minutes. Amazing barbers. 5 star experience for cheap. Very friendly staff. I can't believe I once paid 50 bucks to a salon who made my hair look worse than when I walked in.

Do not go here if you have long hair. My hair now looks like a mushroom. I had a full man bun and decided to get a fade and shorten the hair on top. The guy cut the hair, and said I needed to wait till the sides grow out for the hair to look normal. THE HAIR WAS AT LEAST 30CM ALL AROUND BEFORE HE STARTED CUTTING WHAT DO YOU MEAN I NEED TO WAIT FOR THE HAIR TO GROW BACK OUT?? Long story short the fade on the side looks ok, nothing spectacular, and the top of my head looks like a mushroom. Do not go here if you have long hair. You've been warned!!

Amazing barber shop for an accommodating price. These guys aren’t professionals and pay attention to the details of the cut using a straight razor to touch up the line up. Not to mention their complimentary cold drinks. Come get a cut for $22

These guys are the best of the best. I have never had an issue with this shop. I used to frequent fancy salons and use expensive products but those days are over. I am of mixed race and my hair tends to be a little tricky and stubborn. Sina fixed that right up. The wait times are perfectly reasonable as this is a high traffic shop but sometimes line ups do occur and you may wait a little longer. The wait is well worth it for the cut you get! At $18 dollars a cut, this shop is well within anyones budget even if your hair grows as fast as mine and requires a cut every 3 weeks or so. The longest I've sat in a chair is 25 minutes, watch out, these guys are fast! Trust me when I say these guys know what they're doing and pay them a visit. Don't forget to tip them well, these guys deserve it!

How to not get the haircut you want: 1. Tell the guy to only cut down the sides because you're growing out the hair on top 2. Bring a photo of your last haircut to make it extra clear to make sure he does not cut the top 3. Watch as the guy immediately uses clippers to take off a bunch of the length on top Cool. Skill can't replace a lack of listening

The best Barber in town!! I have been going here for 6 years now never had any problems. The entire team is great at what they do, they are friendly and all of them are styling experts! They will do what you want them to and make suggestions if it might not be a good fit. The shop has been regularly upgraded through the years, couches, TV, music, reception, renovations, etc, they continue to strive for improvement and better customer satisfaction. Great location. Great service. Great music/movies. Absolutely amazing people. You need to check this place out if you haven't already.

A busy little shop in the heart of DTK. Went in for a beard trim from Keyan. I felt very well taken care of and came out with a clean looking trim. Very friendly group. Cash only for payment is the only reason this isn't a 5 star experience.
