Best barber shop in Kitchener-Waterloo. The staff are always really nice, and it’s a place where you can just kick back and relax. They’re quality is over the top - hot and cold wet towels when you get your beard trimmed. It’s a barbershop suitable for all ages, I’ve seen kids leaving with the sickest haircuts from here too. Tip: book online through their website since they don’t accept walk-ins. They get busy so plan with at least a weeks notice.

With well over 60 haircuts and at least a dozen beard trims, I can say that Mitch is a true expert. I always leave clean cut and stylish, despite how unkempt I may walk in. I've never been so happy with a haircut in my life. Not just the result, but the whole experience was just amazing from start to finish! I was recommended this place for a good hair and beard trim back when it was spearheads, but I let my hair and beard grow out until I looked like a scruffy hermit before checking the place out. I had Tim cut my hair, and basically told him to do whatever he thought was best. The result was the best and most enjoyable haircut I ever had. He was a true professional, and really easy to talk to. He had me facing away from the mirror for most of the time, as if he was a magician who didn't want to reveal his secrets. To shave around the beard, he did the full old school hot towel treatment. I left the place feeling like a king. When I came home, my wife said "Wow, you look amazing!" To have your significant other of 10+ years who sees you every day be wowed - That's what it's all about! Everyone there seemed super chill and professional, but for what it's worth, Tim Chartrand is now my go-to guy.

By far the best Barbershop I have ever been to. I have now been getting cut by Mitch for the past six months or so, and I never have to worry about how my hair is going to look after I'm done. This man is incredible at what he does, and always gives me what I want, plus adds his own expertise making for an incredible experience. I have also been cut by Dave, and Emilee when she used to work there, both of which delivered equally incredible haircuts. Parking is a bit of a problem as the shop is right in the heart of downtown Kitchener, so arrive early for your appointment.

Hands down the best Barbers in town. They really do have you leaving looking great! They don’t rush any cuts and make sure to take their time during every step of the process. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much care goes into their whole process. The hot and cold towel is an awesome touch and a very relaxing experience. The Barbers are great people who seem to genuinely care about their customers. Many great conversations I have had in my chair. I will be a lifetime customer for as long as I have hair to cut! A tip as a customer would be to book your next appointment (or next two) when you go to check out, as these guys are so busy that it can be hard to get a spot last minute!

Hair my hair cut by Michelle today. I was trying this place because when I walked by it always seemed busy. Nice atmosphere, the staff were all very friendly and chatting with me. The haircut turned out nice, a bit different from what I normally go for but it ended up looking really good. Had some good conversations during the process, and it didn’t seem forced. A little on the pricey side compared to other barbers, but ended up with a good haircut. She was very detail oriented. Would recommend!

One of the worst haircuts I have ever received. After my haircut here, which was in a different style from what I asked for, they proceed to do a fade on my hair. The fade was so badly done, I had to go by another shop to get fixed. I would not come back here, and don't recommend.

I visited Spearhead for the first time yesterday and got my haircut by Qly. I arrived right when my appointment was to begin and there was no wait. Qly explained to me that barber’s I had been to have been doing something differently and he addressed it to make it look a lot better. I was explained throughout the haircut what he was doing and why he was doing it. You can tell everyone enjoys what they’re doing and they are well experienced. The finished product was the best haircut I’ve gotten and I’ll certainly be back to get my haircut again.

A little too trendy, seems like they have paid a lot of attention to creating a COOL atmosphere but on my visit the barber seemed to be more concerned with his new tatoo than the quality of my haircut. He actually said that I was lucky to get him as he is booked solid for two weeks. Good for him, i wish him luck but I will not return. You only get one chance to make a first impression.

Bad experience. The only reason I went to Spearhead because I could book appointments in advance. When I showed up, they did not acknowledge my presence. After 20 min there was no sign the guy in front of me was going to done soon. I told the barber “I have to go”. He said OK and that was it. To quote Seinfeld "They know how to take the reservation, they just don't know how to *hold* the reservation and that's really the most important part of the reservation".

After a bad experience with a Magicuts that nearly buzzed me bald, I started looking for something a bit more upscale and professional and close to home. This is where Abel's comes in. Abel's is a small barber shop, located in downtown Kitchener, with a lot of personality. Located right next to the Coffee Culture, which is across a hall from it, giving you a nice spot to wait for your appointment. Once inside, you will meet the group of barbers who work there. Many of them are tattoo covered, fun-loving people, with great taste in music. They all get along and are bantering with each other and their clients, crearing a light atmosphere. The work they due is immaculate, and relaxing. You feel like you are in good hands, and nothing ends a cut better than a hot neck shave. They offer other services such as beard trims, as well as group events, if preparing for a wedding. Abel's is my go to now for a hair cut, and I couldn't be happier.

I cannot recommend or say enough good things about Abel’s (formerly Spearhead) and their staff, their captain Mitchell Bright is my barber but each member on staff has an equal dedication to their craft, an eye for detail, a true love for what they do, and a professional demeanor which is beyond reproach. As a Professional Piercer cleanliness is of supreme importance to me and my clients, and Abel’s holds those same ideals close to heart which is just one of the many reasons I wish I could give them more stars on this review, and why I will proudly advertise their business in my own.

Best haircuts in the entire area. Quality is superb. Better book in now if you know what's good for you. Don't waste your time with chain stores like crappy cuts who only want your money and don't give you the quality you need. If you want to look like a REAL gentleman then go to spearheads, garanteed you will come out looking like one, Mitch and his crew make everyone come out looking like supermodels. I know I did... Everytime. Not only are they great at what they do but their super curtious. It's like walking into a episode of CHEERS. They always offer you a drink they know you by name, make you feel like your at home.

It's a pretty decent place. The barbers have a habit of turning you around while they cut your hair so if they have misunderstood anything you said, you find out too late. I've always had decent cuts though to be fair, just miscommunication always ends up leaving me a little dissatisfied.

New to KW and desperately needed a haircut. Abel's had great reviews but both the main barbers were booked multiple weeks in advance. Decided to book the "apprentice haircut" with Eric and figured, for $20, it would make do in a pinch. Eric was pleasant to deal with and seemed pretty talented at his craft, but I didn't quite get the style of haircut I came in for. I came in with longer hair (too long) and wearing a side part. I wanted to keep the same style by keeping a bit of length on the sides. But after two hours of clipping and being faced away from the mirror, I was turned around at the end and that saw my hair on was trimmed disappointingly short on the sides. It's too short to the extent that I can't wear the side part that I had been accustomed to. I understand that Eric is still working on his craft, but I didn't exactly feel like I had been listened to when we talked about what I wanted. And by being faced away from the mirror the whole time, I didn't get a chance to voice any concern over it until we were finished. Ultimately, my hair will grow out soon enough and it is not the end of the world. Eric seems like a nice guy who cares about his work and others have been happy about his cuts. Plus, I knew I was taking a risk going with the "apprentice haircut". At the end of the day, it was only 20 bucks. I'm not sure if I will return to Abel's, but if I do, it will likely be with another barber.

I decided to treat myself to a full face shave after having a beard for 20+ years. Ryan did great work . There was lots of witty banter between the employees. It seems like they enjoy working there. The shop is clean and smells great. I won't hesitate to go back.

I lived in Toronto and got In to the barber life, once I moved to Cambridge I was looking for a new barber in the region. My Barber in T.O recommended Spearhead and I am so glad they did. Serb gave me a super fresh cut and was personable while doing it. I will definitely be going back and recommend anyone else who is looking for that legit barber experience and a good cut.

New location is VERY DIFFERENT. Clean, white walls, simple and vintage, it works well for the location. Staff are great, barbers are very talented. Drastic price increase, up to 60% more for the same hair cut, compared to the prices from the old location. Abel's on queen is a high end barber shop now and sadly I can no longer afford.

I've been here twice now and it's been consistently amazing service. I was immediately greeted and offered water/coffee for my brief wait (I only had to wait because I was early). My barber, Andrew, spent a few minutes talking with me and offering suggestions for the haircut before we started and helped me find a style that worked well for me. All of the other staff were really courteous and friendly. The haircut itself was great; he paid close attention to details and didn't rush anything. I'll definitely come back for round three!

Excellent Barbershop! I moved to the area last year and had been just floating from place to place getting a cheap haircut. I'm glad I decided to come in! Jess has apparently started there recently and was doing walk-ins, and she did a fantastic job! I haven't had either of the guys cut my hair, but based on reputation alone I feel that you can't go wrong going to Spearhead. It was the first time in a very long time I've felt comfortable with my hair immediately after getting it cut!

Very friendly staff. Good conversational skills. Nice chill environment. In a good chill location. Close to downtown but not in the hustle and bustle. The straight razor in the neck was amazing. The really know what they are doing with your hair. Guys, my wife also really liked the tonic they put in your hair. Made me come out of the barber shop feeling manly. The only reason it is not a solid 5/5 is, and I know this might not be a barbershop thing, but they didn’t have sinks to wash your hair after so I felt like needed to shower after to get rid of the little hairs.

First time at the new location yesterday. Super stoked about the haircut, which have always been unreal. Staff are awesome and it's a nice clean professional shop. Disappointed with the price increase, at the old shop the same cut would have been a 30 dollar cut with gratuity, now came to just over 40 with gratuity. Parking was brutal and ended up walking from Victoria park to avoid paying to park. Didn't feel the vibe at all that I use to feel at spearheads. Love the guys and the quality of the hair cuts, just wasnt expecting such big changes.
