I had a great experience at Starks Peterborough. This was my first hair cut after emerging from isolation, and Starks was the perfect choice. I didn’t know what to expect under the new distance & mask rules, but they were very clean & professional. Sonia was my barber, and she did an impeccable job! She was skilled and attentive, both making sure I was put at ease, and that I was satisfied with the results. She’s found a new regular client in me! :) Even if you’ve been using a different barber before, I highly recommend that you should give them a try. You will be glad you did!

This was by far the worst haircut and customer service I have ever received. After waiting patiently for my appointment, which started late, I had a "consultation" with my barber Rachel, describing exactly what kind of haircut I wanted, even showing her a prior photo of myself for reference to supplement our in-depth discussion regarding my hairstyle, of which she assured me she could complete with ease. After the first 5 minutes I reconfirmed the length and style of the cut as I could see it was not going in the direction we had agreed. This was meet with a reference to the time and the next customer in 30 minutes which would not allow her to "recut" my hair a 2nd time? Instead of being focused on the task at hand, she was more concerned about getting me out of the chair for the next patron, which set the tone for the lack of detail of the entire cut. When she declared my cut to be finished, I asked to see the back to confirm my hairline which was nowhere near what we had discussed. Upon pointing this out to Rachel, she said she would make note for next time, fully intending to send me on my way with an incredibly poor effort of which I told her was not satisfactory. After much debate, she reluctantly agreed to "fix" it, which she proceeded to essentially shave the back part of my head totally destroying the cut and going against everything we had discussed in our "consultation." As per the attached photo, she was totally willing to send me on my way with this cut which is appalling, citing a lack of communication!?! This cut would not be passable in any respectable barbershop anywhere. Management needs to clearly provide additional training as having an inexperienced barber such as this is incredibly disappointing as a customer. Thankfully Kim stepped in after Rachel tried to send me on my way AGAIN and worked to salvage my remaining hair. Kim was much more collaborative and skilled in her efforts (actually caring about the outcome and my experience). She also did not charge me for the cut in the end which was appreciated. By the time this ordeal came to an end, I was in the shop for over an hour. I had paid for parking for 45 mins (an extra 15 mins than what was necessary) and returned to a packing ticket due to the time needed to salvage my cut. Do not waste your time or money at Starks! Management should reassess their staff as the attached photo is evidence of the quality you can expect from this location!

Love that there is a place in town like this that really appeals to the younger generation that a old time barber shop just doesn't do for me. My experience having my hair and beard trimmed wasn't the best, but when the issue was brought to the owner's attention it was handled with care and respect. We all know that an individual employee can sometimes give a poor impression, but when an owner steps up to correct the issue it means everything. Jesse and Johnathan ensured that they dealt with the situation personally and showed that they truly care about their customers. They are clearly focused on creating an inviting and comfortable space to receive men's grooming services, and their commitment doesn't go unnoticed.

It was my first time at Starks Barber Company in Peterborough. I ordered the Starks Treat Service which included a shampoo and condition, a hair and neck trim, and a massage afterward. The Hot Towel was also apart of the package but due to covid-19 there was no towel service included. I had seen very high reviews before booking here, and I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and quality of service that I experienced today. I was offered a coffee and water upon arrival as well as offering to hang my jacket up before I walked into the studio. Kim did a spectacular job and paid extra attention to detail on my treatment and it turned out very well. All the staff did an excellent job making my partner and I feel comfortable throughout the whole experience. I will be coming here for the foreseeable future and recommend Starks Barber Company to anybody who wants to pay a very fair price for an extremely high quality cut in the Peterborough area.

The barbershop that does it all and does it really well. Great cut and even got my eyebrows waxed before my wedding. Looked great and they even do men's long hair which is nice after being rejected by every barbershop for having long, lush, and beautiful hair. Booked an appointment for 9am. I reached there at 9:05 am. Didn’t find a parking spot so I had search for a parking spot. Went in at 9:12 am only to know that they have cancelled my appointment. They didn’t even inform me or ask me if I’m am coming in or not. Why do they ask for contact information when they don’t want to inform that the appointment is cancelled or not. Worst customer service.

I had to share this one. This place is beyond amazing. I am very happy with the response I have received from Starks.... I was on my way to Ottawa from Toronto and stopped at Peterborough. I saw this nice place and thought of getting a haircut. They not only gave me a good haircut but helped me with the problem I had with the product and the bill. The lady took my query over the phone without me having to come to store. To be honest I was not even expecting a response , but Nicole and one more staff member proactively worked on it and within an hour, I had a resolution. Really appreciate your professionalism, quality and absolute customer service.

Kim was super friendly and I liked how cautious she was with how much she trimmed off since km trying to grow my hair out. Only thing that kinda sucked was selected the straight razor beard trim and just got the trimmer. Other then that I'd recommend over Henry's barber shop around the block.

Starks just opened up for business a week ago, which is why they're the only place in town that doesn't currently have a 2 week wait list for a hair cut. I decided to give them a try today and i'm glad I did. My barber, Kim, did an excellent job on my hair, and was very friendly. They offer hot towels, neck massages, ect. They even offer straight razor shaves, or at least they will once Covid 19 is finally over. Great first experience

Kim's service is amazing! There are lots of great options in Peterborough but I choose to go to Starks because of Kim. The atmosphere there is bright, luxuries and inviting. The chairs are SUPER comfortable. I highly recommend this place and I'm a picky person with where I go.

You can see that she takes her crat seriously. Also, due to my own mistake (my fault totally) I paid too much and the staff were very honest and vigilant about me getting the extra money back. Kudos. I got the Starks Treatment with Holly. She is an excellent stylist and my hair looked great. The treatment was amazing. It was relaxing, comfortable and left me feeling refreshed on a very hot day. The establishment is clean and visually pleasing and every other staff member I interacted with there were very pleasant and personable. Wow. I've been going to my regular barbershop and barber for years but now it looks like I've found a new one! Kim did a great job on my hair. She was professional and friendly and I would highly recommend her. The shop itself? What can I say? Everything from the staff to the furniture is top notch! As soon as you walk in you feel like you're being pampered and cared for. You will be disappointed when it's your turn to get your haircut as hanging out in the waiting area is part of the experience! The only thing I'm disappointed with is that I forgot to buy some Starks products for my hair! I will be back when they are able to give my pandemic beard some special treatment. I have been struggling with how my hair lays on my crown and Ryan suggested a specific cut, executed it flawlessly and now I have no issues styling my hair at home. The client lounge was comfortable and I was offered refreshments right away. Tara was my stylist and she took great care of me. She explained the process from start to finish, every step of the way. She took the time to talk to me about my hair style goals (I am growing my hair out). She gave me options on what we could do today to make me look my best while working towards my future hair style. I am very happy with the final look. I want to note the great implementation that the Peterborough location has taken to deal with the crazy situation that we are all navigating right now. As an essential service worker, I appreciate that they took my safety seriously. They rolled out the red carpet, made me feel comfortable, relaxed and safe. It was exactly what I needed at a time when we all deserve a little extra something. I will be spreading the word and signing up for a full time membership. Cut and colour me impressed!
