I am very particular about my hair. I have been going to the same place for years but wanted to try somewhere that was much closer to my home. I told the barber what I wanted and even showed him several pictures. I wanted short on the sides and back and for him to leave most of the length on top. He proceeded to take off close to half the length on the top. I will not be back.

Classic barbershop, and a fixture of Elgin street. There's only two chairs, so there can be a bit of a wait, but the guys do a better haircut at a better price than everyone else around downtown, so it's well worth it.

I told the guy what I wanted (a fairly simple taper fade and trimmed on top), but he didn't fade at all, he just shaved the sides unevenly. My right side above the ear is a good 1cm longer than the left side. He also changed the direction in which my hair was styled. Terrible haircut.

Perhaps Ottawa's last true barber shop. This is not a franchise - you will not find "barbers" in their 20's with no experience here. The two barbers have been cutting hair at this location since the 1980s. It is always the perfect haircut, exactly what you ask for. It does takes time though, both in the chair and the wait, but if you want to go to a no bells and whistles shop that actually knows how to cut hair this is the place. The barbershop is also open on Saturdays if you cant get downtown during the week.

I found the place to be incredibly dirty and cluttered. I did not get a haircut personally, but instead was trying to get my toddler a haircut who was not cooperating. The gentleman cutting his hair had very sloppy technique and was going at an incredibly slow pace. Its understandable that kids haircuts are hard and not everyone's cup of tea, but then I would expect the barber to tell me before he started cutting the hair. Personally having witnessed his slow cutting technique and how messy the place was I would never get a haircut there myself, nor would recommend it to anyone. Judging by the number of good reviews, it seems that the barber shop simply caters to a different audience that does not work for me.

It's a bit of a cluttered hole in the wall but the two barbers there really know there stuff. I wouldn't have anyone else cut my hair at this point. The prices are quite cheap comparatively and given the quality of the haircut it's a no brainer.

A really good haircut style and technique! Old italian school! It does take time (I recommend not to go if you’re in a hurry) but it’s worth it. First time will be a little different. It’s the kind of haircut that looks good for more than just a week.
