Today I went for my third cut at Blackbeard's and Danny gave me the best haircut I've had in a long time from any salon or barbershop. He was very friendly and the shop has a nice welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend getting a cut here.

I recently went there and got the pleasure of getting a haircut, exactly how I wanted it. I normally get my curls chopped off by barbers who don’t listen when I ask for a very light trim. I also got the fade done exactly how I wanted it, since I don’t normally do a bald fade. The barber Chris really took his time to make sure everything was perfect. I left with a clean cut and no razor burns. I would definitely come back

First time trying a local barbershop and I was definitely not disappointed. The moment you walk in you are greeted by a friendly bunch of barbers and you can tell they are passionate about their job. I had Lindsay cutting my hair and she was awesome, very friendly and was able to educate me on how to cut and style my hair better. I left completely satisfied with a fresh shave and cut. I will be returning for sure! Definitely try these guys out!

I've been cut by almost everyone that works there, but the shop has always been incredibly welcoming, the first time I went, I walked in and I felt like I had been going there for years with how the attitude is there, super classy inside (aside from all the Pens merch, which is only forgivable due to the fact that they have a Wings banner on the back wall :p lol) incredible atmosphere, and every time I go I get exactly what I asked for, they take their time and know exactly what they're doing, keep up the good work! (Also, I don't work for nor am i affiliated with them in any way, my user name is just a joke about my thick red beard)

Friendly service. You pay for what you get. Dan was professional, courteous, and made good conversation. Decor is unique and has a barbershop feel to it. Hot cream shave, special magic dust waxing powder that adds texture to your hair, special air jet that blows hair off. Not the hot blow dryer which was a nice change. They have their own aftershave too! All of these are available for sale in the shop! Check these guys out, you wont be dissapointed. Call ahead, they always pick up! Parking available on Bond St and back of the shop :)

Knowing that I have different type of hair (Afro-Cultured) I made sure I described the cut I wanted and I even showed a picture of what my hair really looks like because I had left it dry so the hairs would be cut easily. Not only were the lines jagged, but the sides of my head are terribly faded...if faded at all. I specifically made myself clear NOT to touch the top of my hair (my hairstyle is a high top fade) but the barber wouldn't listen and kept arguing with me to convince me it needs levelling. Because he didn't comb out my hair properly, the top of my hair looks chopped up and far from levelled once I washed the hair. I also asked for him to trim my facial hair, and he placed my strap 'below' my jawline...not even on my face. On top of all that, he still charged me $65!!!! Not sure if it was just a bad experience, but this is a friendly warning to all my coloured folk. If you choose to take the chance and get your hair cut here, make sure the person cutting your hair understands it's not typical hair they're cutting. The accommodations (shop, chairs, atmosphere) is pretty premium though, so there is a bonus.

I'm writing this just after getting my haircut done. Before I get into any detail at all, overall the experience was great. Never mind the fantastic haircut I got, the atmosphere of the shop was fantastic. As for the haircut I was extremely impressed with the attention to detail and the care they have in their work. I also want to thank Kyle for the fantastic haircut (Didn't really get to properly thank you since you had to leave!) I wish you luck with whatever the future holds for you, you're already doing one hell of a fine job! Your attention to detail, patience, and finesse was great. As Danny was saying in the store, my oriental hair is very tough and harder to cut which most people have a lot of trouble cutting properly so for somebody who is still in his study, wow fantastic job, one of the better haircuts I've ever gotten. I can tell you're still a little hesitant about what you can do but some more experience under your belt and you'll be flying! Thanks again to Danny who was not only a knowledgeable barber but also a fantastic host, very friendly. I usually just go to any random haircutting place but after today, you can bet that I'll be coming to Blackbeard's when I need my next haircut!

Walk in and your instantly greeted. Usually I'm able to walk in and get seated for a haircut. It doesn't matter who cuts my hair it always is done a professional and friendly manner. Plenty of TV's to watch sports on while you are getting your hair cut. This is my favorite barbershop in town.

I've been to this barber shop a few times since I moved downtown St Catharines over a year ago while going to university. When you first walk into Blackbeards you see the decor is evident of your typical barber shop. The walls show middle of the century depictions of what was the Golden century of mens barber shops. A shoe shining chair resides in the corner of the shop, which I thought added a bit of extra class to the atmosphere. The owner is a nice enough guy. Very friendly and welcoming. Some of the staff is less than charming but definitely knowledgeable and professional. The hair cuts are good. Nothing to brag about and especially for the price that you pay ($25 for a standard cut). I went in for a simple touch up once and was there for 30 minutes on a Friday waiting, which is normal for the time of day and before the weekend. My trim took no more than 10 minutes, possibly less, and was still charged full price of a standard hair cut. To give a clear example of what I had done incase you think I'm being unreasonable I had less than half an inch trimmed of the side of my hair to even out my undercut. For a hairdressers that considers itself a barber shop I can say that an action like that is not only discouraging as a customer but also takes away from traditional barber etiquette. Overall perception.. A shop that has all the fittings of a traditional barbershop with an owner that fits his role as a barber in both his appearance and professional attitude. But if you want to pay a high price at a mediocre barbershop than Blackbeard's Barbershop is the place for you.

$65 dollars for a haircut and beard trim. I always tip so it all came out to $70. This is unreasonable for a men's cut. Was not told about price ahead of time and did not ask to get a shave or hot towel but i'm sure those costed out individually added to the total cost. For $70 i would have expected my hair and beard to look perfect or nearly perfect, however there were several issues including my beard being patchy after the cut. Smart barber, never had me facing the mirror until the end. I still had him make some adjustments but at that point the whole thing was a fail. My opinion? Guys who think their pros, charge pro prices, but need more training on cutting hair.

Took my 6 year old son for a haircut. They were patient and accommodating with him and made it an experience for him. I went back for a shave a couple days later. I have a fairly thick beard and found that barber struggled a bit with it making it a bit uncomfortable for me. If I lived in the area I would most likely frequent this shop for my haircuts.

I called to verify couldn't make it on time, but were still wondering if they were showing up. Which I get. Waiting on appointments you booked as work sucks. Which is why communication was key. Bottom line. We got a laugh at our expense, and my husband came out with a very nice fade. Also should add that my husband's barber he had was great. He did above and beyond to get the job done.

I’ve been to Blackbeard a few times usually find it to be decent, expensive but good work that is until I had the owner cut my hair.. EXTREAMLY DISAPPOINTED. I was in to just get a fade and clean it up not much hair very easy and asked to have my bottom under chin just a simple straight edge nothing more. He proceeded to line up my entire face shaved my eye brows and cut in a part line in my hair. Never asked if I wanted it or is it ok to do so... sure so he made an attempt and then over charged me for the work he did ? Didn’t ask for the works.. but reason why I’m even more upset then those factors.. his line work was garbage and I mean it was offffff not able to make an even line I wish I could upload some pictures to show how horrible it was. Very upset went back to ask him to fix it he argued with me saying I’m picky and as if I’m wrong ? It wouldn’t bother me if it was maybe a bit off and still sorta straight but how bad it was I feel like it is important to express the experience. If your going to black beards do not get a cut by the owner get someone else to do it, he has a few decent people working there. 45$ to leave disappointed was not worth it.

So when it comes to barber shops I like to try a few of the barbers before I try another place or leave review.. I first tried this place in the summer and I'll be honest I had some average (and some below average cuts but the location is convenient for me because I work down the street. You can easily tell some of the barbers here care a lot more about your hair than others. However last visit I tried a barber who is new there and a fair bit younger named Mikolai, and I must say I think I found my permanent barber. He was very professional and had high attention to detail. I will not be going anywhere else for my hair and beard!

I got a fade and there was a line the on sides of my head it look like I had a short haired mullet he fixed it a bit but there is still a line. My sideburns were crooked Even though I told him not to touch them. No chance they will get my business again.

Cleanest barbershop I have been in by far. Even the bathroom was very clean not even splashes on the mirror. I have been in many other local shops and found this is something most lack. My haircut came out exactly how I asked, and my barber Mikolai paid lots of attention to detail as well as have me a few much needed laughs over some good conversation. I’ve never looked this good. Thanks Miko I’ll definitely be back!!

Awesome haircuts! They keep up to date with trends and styles. I'm not particular with my hair, I just want to get a good cut that looks nice, and this is the place. Highly recommend getting the hair cut and beard trim. It may take over an hour, but it is worth it!

Gone downhill last few times I've gone through. Paid 65$(not including tip) for a beard trim and haircut. Haircut is ok enough but the beard was butchered and had to shave it off. Since Lindsay is gone its not the same

From the United States going to school in NOTL. Went in at around 9:00 on a Saturday they had soccer on TV, very nice quiet setting, they even had Tony Bennett on the radio. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They touched up areas I didn't expect like my brow and back of my neck all with a straight razor. Absolutely recommend far beyond expectations. If you have a vision for how you want to look these guys can achieve it! Definitely will be back. Oh and the aftershave they use is phenomenal as well.

Came in looking for a new barber. I was super early for my appointment like I was there at 3:45 for a 5 o clock appointment but I didn’t mind waiting. My appointment was with Chris who took me in at 4:10 which I had no problem with. But I got a rushed haircut and messed up beard shave. Chris’s excuse was he didn’t want to say no and had a customer waiting that’s why he rushed me. He didn’t charge me for the beard shave but I surely do not appreciate the rushed service and messed up haircut I still have hair behind my ears which I will have to shave and shape once I get home. I wasn’t in for free shave I was there as a paying customer and if my request couldn’t be accommodated that is understandable I spoke to Chris about it At least he was polite about it but I’m not letting him cut my hair or shave my beard again.

I’ve gotten my haircut by Nick and I think all of the barbers as I get my hair cut every two weeks. I recently started going there and they are by far the best barbers in the city. They take their time and are precise.

Extremely disappointed, I went in after growing my beard for 3 months and was looking forward to getting a nice trim, clean up, and fade. Immediately prior to the haircut I said please do not take any length or size off my beard just clean it up, and shape. I trusted that I was in good hands, somehow the gentlemen managed to shave off nearly my entire beard, unacceptable. The haircut okay, but blatantly just against what I asked for and not with my style, will never return. What a disappointment..Not to mention I had to go home and fix it myself

There isnt a negative star. So my boyfriend goes here often and we have brought our international student here as well. With us present, other visits our student paid $30 for his cut and a massage and hot towel. This time our student went alone and was charged $45 for a cut and hot towel NO massage and he still gave him a tip. I would never have given a tip especially when feeling racially descriminated. I'm Italian,boyfriend is Greek, student is Chinese. Shame on you Danny. We obviously will not be returning.

I Recently booked an appointment and was matched up with Chris. After seeing a negative review about him i was a little hesitant as it was my first time here as well. Chris ended up blowing my expectations with his patience and his attention to detail and gave me one of my favourite cuts to date. I went in here today as I seen some very good reviews. I paid 50$ for a cut and line up (which I don’t mind paying if it’s a good cut), the barber spent about 20 mins on my cut. It’s not nearly what I asked for. The side look terrible goes from a number 1 to a long length of hair that wasn’t touched. The two sides don’t even look the same. I said it was ok as I didn’t want him making it any worse, I will have to go get it fixed. Never been this disappointed in a cut, especially not after paying $50.00!!! I also left a $10 tip oh and my beard isn’t even lined up, it’s all over the place. Very very disappointed with this cut been looking at it for the last couple of hours. Would not recommend and will never go back! Ps the barber was Danny.

All the staff here are super friendly and welcoming. There is a great atmosphere with a comfortable waiting area, trendy barber chairs, TVs with sports, great interaction among staff and customers. All great barbers so your in good hands with anyone on staff as they keep up with current trends for cuts and styles and always able to give you the cut you want. I personally have to highly recommend Ryan as he’s always happy to chat during the cut, all around great guy and he always takes his time to make sure everything is 100% what you want and he’s really perfected his craft.
