If you want a true barber's cut this is the place to go. Staff is incredibly knowledgeable about hair, know exactly what they're doing and what suits you best. They offer great recommendations without being pushy. It seems that you need to be covered in tattoos to be working their but don't be scared because they're all laidback, easy to talk to and really friendly guys. Awesome place!

Love this place so much! The atmosphere is amazing, the decor is cool but the barbers who work there really make the place stand out. I always book with Olivia because not only did she pinpoint the best cut for my hair the second time I went there (which is no small thing) and I am always more than satisfied with the cut but she is also incredibly friendly and really strives to make you comfortable. The other barbers are great as well; when you’re there they always include you in their conversations and don’t just talk over your head. This place is also queer friendly and as far as I have seen they have taken initiatives to make people of all identities comfortable getting their hair cut. I can’t speak to how they might do with different hair textures as I have at most type 2 (wavy).

Quality haircuts, though it's a bit expensive. I really really liked the cut I got, even though I booked same day, I got in, had a nice talk with the other patrons, and left really happy with my cut. I liked the products they used and I felt like I was in good hands the entire time. I'll likely be returning to see how consistency is!

Jeff Gilby is all you need to know!! I followed him over after he switched to crows nest as I could not imagine letting anyone else work on my hair. From my first appointment he has treated me like family, any time I see him I am greeted by the same wholehearted and upbeat personality. Now let’s get to the good stuff: the haircut. This man is another level of talent, from the competitions he attends to his meticulous dedication to improvement; he is always developing his technique and it definitely shows. I don’t think I have ever left wishing I didn't listen to his recommendation, somehow he continues to evolve my hairstyle while still maintaining the vibe I am looking for. Even after all these years I consistently leave feeling impressed -a feeling that remains even after a month of it growing in. Shout out to Jay and Joy as well, I've been getting to know them recently and they are turning out to be just as awesome! The atmosphere all three create is so welcoming, and the conversations are always great. This place offers the perfect balance of professional service and hanging out with friends. Hands down the best barbershop I have ever been to and I recommend it to everyone!

Walked in and managed to get in 45 minutes later. The woman who did my 15 year old son's haircut was wonderful, and the cut was really nice. She didn't rush it, despite it taking her 20 minutes passed closing time. My son is on the autism spectrum and she didn't bat an eye at his slightly immature behavior for a boy his size and age, and she made great conversation with him. She even threw in trimming a little bit of his facial hair for free, as he isn't great at maintaining it himself. Over all great experience, and well worth the slightly higher price point. Thanks to all the staff. ^_^

If you're in your Mid 30's or beyond and your Dad took you to the Barber Shop on the weekend or every other weekend, then you know what a "True Barber Shop" is when I say it. So some guys from my generation realized this was a need NOT being met and opened Crows Nest! I found the shop in Hamilton about 18-24 months ago and haven't gone anywhere else since. Beard trim, straight razor shave, and a hair cut your Grandfather wouldn't smack you upside your head for! I know it's not the scene for some, so if you don't like gnarly dudes who are covered in tattoos coming at you with extremely sharp tools, well, I simply can't help you! You want to get handsome again, get your shaggy ass down there now!

Recently moved to Hamilton, and needed to find a new barbershop. Google search found Crows Nest with a really high level of satisfaction from customers, so decided to give them a shot. Walk ins are handled by apprentices, otherwise an appointment is required, so booked time with Jimmy. Arrived on time to find municipal parking (buck an hour) right next door, and slid right into the old style barber's chair. Jimmy asked some questions as to what I'd like done, and got to work. With easy banter going on, he worked with the speed of a guy who knows exactly what he's doing, and damn, what a fine job he did. Best haircut I've had in over 20 years, even the old lady admitted it looked good - although she's still aiming for me to cut the hair at the back. Jimmy did an outstanding cut, reasonably priced, and I'll be coming here for the next 20 years.

Wanted to find my boyfriend a barber as he was going to supercuts and had never experienced a barber before, this one had the best reviews so we went in today (Sunday) to see if they would take us as a walk-in. Chris the apprentice was just finishing up with a client and told us he'd be 15 minutes so we waited on the porch which was nice as it has a bench. He was exactly 15 minutes and took my boyfriend right away. Took about 30 minutes for a cut and beard trim and he did an AMAZING job. Super nice guy, really does such a great job. My boyfriends hair and beard look perfect. Better than ever before AND it was cheaper than supercuts. Cash only but they have an ATM machine, 100% recommend.

All their barbers are well trained, so you can't go wrong. My go-to is Jimmy, he does an exceptional job and he's a really decent guy to chat with. For the full treatment, get a 60 minute cut and shave/trim, it comes with a hot towel.

Being visibly queer/non-binary and rockin' a fresh classically "male" haircut isn't always easy or easy to acquire, but these guys make it a breeze! Crow's Nest is the main source for feelin' good on the inside and outside for myself and a lot of folks I know in the LGBTQ+ community. Wanna cut that will make others stop and ask you where you got it? Hit this place up! Before moving to Ottawa from Halifax I was told to track down Jeff Gilby to keep the hair lookin fresh! Think about that!! People 1500km away knew what Jeff was bringin!! The recommendation was on point and I haven’t looked back. Jeff is always upbeat, will never accept a “good enough” result, and every time you darken the door you’ll be welcomed like family. The shop is friendly (I’ve popped in just to chill when I’ve been near and had time) and everyone in the shop gets in on the convo. Whether gettin a trim or leechin their wifi, you’re with friends. Other shops talk big; Crow’s Nest doesn’t need to - they just bring it.

We took our 2.5 year old in for his 2nd ever haircut and they did a great job! ✅ They were super patient even as we had to pull out all the stops to keep him sitting still and happy (sitting on Dada’s lap in the chair, eating chocolates, reading books, watching Netflix, etc.) All of the staff were really accommodating of a toddler’s, well, toddlerness. ????????????????‍♀️ Great music, good vibes, really positive experience overall. ????

I come here because Jeff Gilby is the only man I'll let work on head and face hair. He is phenomenal. The dude participates in barbershop competitions on the regular. Did you know those where a thing? I sure didn't until I met Jeff, and after he cut my hair I understood why they exist. To show off talent like this man's. I haven't gotten a chance to know any of the other barbers there but I'm sure they're cool too. Also the place has a super chill vibe. There are so many crosses on wall because getting a cut here is like a religious experience. Just do it; you won't be disappointed.

So this place came as a bit of a surprise for me. Walking in Westboro and then I see this cool barbershop. Everyone in the shop was laughing and having a good time. Super Chill. I wanted to be a part of that so I booked an appointment. By far one of the best barbershop experiences I've ever had. Jeff cut my hair. The guy is a master. Shaped it, gave his opinon and it paid off listening to him. One of the best cuts I've had. Jay was super chill too - talking about hip hop, sneaker collections and video games. I'll be coming back again and again . Like I said, the best barbershop in town by a long shot.

I highly recommend Jeff and Crowsnest for anyone looking for that old school charm of your grandfather’s barber shop. If I lived remotely close to Ottawa this would be my go to place for hair cuts and beard trims.

Can't rate this place well enough. They give amazing haircuts, they use a straight razor (very skillfully) to clean up neck hair every time, and the atmosphere is a very laid back old fashioned barbershop with cool knick knacks on the walls, and sometimes if you're lucky, someone working there has an adorable little french bulldog that's got a bed and bowls in a corner, and sometimes he'll just be laying there with a big bulldog smile. I don't know, going there is almost a trip, I haven't gotten a tattoo there, but the with delicacy they use when they've got a straight razor on my neck, I'd certainly trust them to tattoo me.

I highly recommended Crow's Nest to anyone who wants a barber that is extremely skilled and friendly! It's not easy finding a good barber nowadays and I just got extremely lucky with Jeff! He does amazing work! Crow's Nest makes it incredibly efficient to schedule cuts with him, and it is very easy to find free parking in front of the shop or in the area. I appreciate the time, detail and skill Jeff puts in, and nothing feels rushed! Besides that it's a very clean professional atmosphere and they play great music while you wait! What else can I say this place is awesome!

I had heard nothing but good experiences about the Crows Nest, and it is well deserved! Please save yourself some heartache and Book an Appointment- walk ins are just about guaranteed to be turned away right now. The shop is clean, well decorated and the staff are really attentive and caring, not to mention they do a great job! I was a tad nervous coming in with my long(just below shoulder length) hair, but my last /salon/ experience with getting an undercut was less than stellar and I figured a barbershop would have the needed skills. Booking on their website is super easy, just make sure you select the right location, and I was able to get in a week from my booking date. I had Amanda, and my lines were super clean, the trim on my remaining long hair was great and it was an all around pleasure to be in her chair! I appreciated the extra care to make sure no stray hairs we're trapped under my mask to. Tristan was in that day as well- and his before and after shots of his customer we're also stellar! ( Also 10/10 for the quick razor save on the back of my neck with and the hot towel)

Worst hair cut I've ever had. I showed him 3 pictures and told him exactly what I wanted. I told him multiple times I wanted it longer. I left with hair less than an inch on the top of my head... He didn't listen to anything I said. Came home to find he faded it up way too high and the back just sticks out. There's are chunks of hair on top with hair cut so uneven cuz he didn't cross check the top going front to back and side to side, like any barber should do. I have wavy hair, if he cut it longer it would have a bit of height to hold the curls and sit nice. Instead he cut into the waves so they stick up and out. It will take me 6 months to grow this mess out. Avoid this place at all cost.
