He knows how to deal with my hair type and double crown so I never have a bad hair day. Eoin, the owner and sole barber at the Brewery Barber has 4 decades of experience and 50,000+ men's haircuts under his belt. He's a master of the works - a hair physicist, if you will. Every move he makes on hair is purposeful, careful, and precise. Simply put, Eoin knows exactly what he's doing with with his clients' hair. He gives a great haircut every time. When I first came to Eoin, I had a 6-month old shaggy mop on my head and he turned it into a work of contemporary art for just $20. The barbershop itself is no frills - no retro decor, no beer, and Eoin doesn't sport a cool beard (in fact he doesn't have a strand of hair on his head). However, what the Brewery Barber does offer is a real high quality haircut. ***Note to all shaggy mop heads out there - Eoin will take care of you, but do him and yourself a favour and don't let your hair get that disheveled a second time around.

The owner called me spoke to me about my needs and determined I didn't need a beard trim appointment me beard was included in a haircut! Got to the shop... At the Keith's brewery and was made to feel very welcome for a great cut and chat definitely make an appointment to go it'll be busy especially in the summer. Eoin (pronouced Ian) was very friendly. It is evident that he knows exactly what he is doing given his numerous years of experience. He is a lone barber and the shop is not at all pretentious compared to many modern barber shops. You can tell he enjoys what he does; he is very social, something I really look for in choosing a barber. But at the end of the day what matters is the haircut. My only gripe would be the little use of his scissors and reliance more with the Hair Clipper (Buzzer). This resulted in my hair not being texturized as much as I am used to. Although he did utilize the Texturizer Razor to add varying length to some of the hair in the front of my hair. After a few days I grew to really enjoy my haircut and I do plan on coming back. I highly recommend Eoin.

I went in today for a haircut for the first time on Saturday. It wasn't that busy which was good. The barber was quick, talkative, knowledgable & affordable price : $20. I wanted a specific haircut. I shown him a pic of what I wanted. My hair is thick & coarse but still looks straight so he did his best to make it similar. It looks quite nice , I think it will look better once my top front grows longer into a fringe/ side sweep. I will come back again. Thanks again !

Absolutely exemplary service! I've been coming here nearly as long as I've been living in the city, and Eoin's been nothing but diligent when it comes to making sure my hair gets what it needs. When I'm unsure on what I want to do, I can leave it in his hands with absolute confidence and I've yet to regret leaving the decision to him. He's always been more than happy to experiment with clays and oils to see what works best for me as well. I ended up getting all of it because it worked so well for me. The amount of times I've recommended him to friends looking for men's cuts has gotten absurb, so why not sing his praises to strangers as well? Getting to him is a lot more difficult than it used to be, but I'd still rather make the trip than go elsewhere. So yeah, I guess I recommend coming here.

I usually end up spending way too much time chatting with him, because he is just such a joy to talk to. Came In With High Expectations, Left Disappointed The proprietor Eoin is quite welcoming and seems like a very nice fellow. I came as a walk-in and explained that I was new in town and looking for a go-to barber. Despite the business’ name, Eoin insisted he was a *hairdresser* and not a barber. He then proceeded to rant about the state of the industry and how all the "barber shops" popping up were just trendy hipster hair salons and not authentic, in the classical sense of trained barbering. Fair point, though I didn’t ask and wasn’t really interested. Eoin then broke two cardinal rules of customer service: 1. “The customer is always right” Eoin explained that the haircut I have worn for the past 3 years (an undercut with a tight fade in the sides and extra length on top) was “wrong” for the shape of my head and the growth pattern of my hair. He said I would do better with something shorter on top. I replied that was fine, but that I preferred to stay with what I had. Eoin instead gave me a cut as he desired, giving me a tight fade in the sides but a short side-part cut on top, taking off most of the length I had saved up. 2. “Don't talk politics” Eoin insisted on discussing the inauguration of US President Donald Trump. Having worked in the service sector for many years, I learned early that – much as in a bar – it is not proper to talk money, sex, or politics; particularly not with a customer, and especially not with one you just met. To boot, I had mentioned that, as a member of the armed forces, I had no public opinions on politics, but Eoin persisted, causing me further discomfort and awkwardness. The shop is clean and well maintained. Service was prompt and inexpensive. Eoin is skilled at his trade, but he leaves much room to be desired in his customer relations. Also, he left an odd longer portion at the back left corner of my hair, which formed a large cowlick that required a great deal of product to glue down. It took me roughly 2 months of growth to get my hair back to where I liked it, and each subsequent barber I saw until then remarked on how the back of my haircut was “lopsided”. Nothing personal, but I won't be returning. In sum: Pros +friendly +relatively cheap Cons -overbearing -disregards customer’s wishes -discusses partisan politics -no military discount

Walked in for my first haircut in years - had messy medium-length hair and no idea what to do with it; the barber was great and explained some of his recommendations based on the features I knew I wanted changed. I let him do his thing and he was really fun to talk to the whole time. I don't know how long I was in the chair, but it flew by and couldn't have been much more than 15 minutes. He didn't add any product until after the cut was complete - a nice touch that lets you see what the hair really looks like without any styling. He finished up by showing me how to lock it in with a little hair spray and I left the chair feeling great about the new look! I wouldn't change a thing and will definitely be going back for my next haircut!

I searched Halifax for a place that cut men's hair. I wanted someone trained as a stylist and not one less trained but that offers tofu unfused lattes rather than good men's cuts. This is the place. Convenient for me but if you are a tourist it is right off the Harbour Walk. Efficient, competent, friendly and extremely reasonable. He doesn't offer skull massages for $40 but gives a very good hair cut and listens to what you want. Your wife/partner can grab a beer nextdoor or shop. Great location.

Today, I was in a jam and ended up getting my hair cut by someone else. It was a total mess - stray long hairs, crooked neckline and patchy. I swung by Eoin's shop unannounced to see if there was anything he could do with it. Not only did he fit me in in between appointments, but somehow he fixed the hack job I walked in with into a great looking cut and DIDN'T CHARGE. This is how you earn lifelong customers. Needless to say I will be returning to Eoin for as long as he's wielding a pair of scissors. Thanks again, Eoin!
