These horrid people cancelled my daughters hair and makeup on her GRADUATION day! I called to let them know the ceremony was running late amd we'd be there ASAP. The lady I spoke to said she'd inform the hairdresser, and told us to get there as fast as we could. A while later another lady called and said we were too late and that they weren't going to take her. It was her GRADUATION! Its not a day that can be replaced or replicated! The owner, Darla (?) couldn't have cared that my daughters day was potentially ruined. Basics Haircare stepped in and SAVED the day. On top of that, they wouldn't let my daughter pay! What an amazing salon!

Honestly I’m super disappointed in the Headroom’s customer service. I had my hair coloured about a 3 weeks ago with the intention of “going darker” which I had explained was to keep some of my lighter blonde highlights with more brown undertones. The stylist dyed my entire hair dark brown even though it was a semi-permanent, but overall I was hoping for much lighter pieces throughout. My hair was dark chocolate brown after the fact and even though it looked nice, it wasn’t what I was hoping for. I’m usually not the one to complain but I contacted The Headroom about a week afterwards because of my ongoing frustration and explained my dissatisfaction to the receptionist. Unfortunately I wasn’t called back by the manager until about 3 days afterwards. She scheduled me in to come back to the salon the next day; which I did (waking up early from my nightshift) to have my hair corrected. The stylist agreed to add a few lighter highlights- approximate 8-10 to lighten to the ends (as I had hoped for initially) to coordinate on a plan so that I was happy. I appreciated the effort to make my hair what I wanted until she completed her job and took me to the front desk only to state, “Because It’s an added service there will be an addition charge” Of course in the moment I am feeling guilty so I pay the addition $47 to “fix my hair” as well as the overhead original cost of $230 for my cut and colour (with tip both times) I’m sorry but what professional salon charges you to “fix” their work when your customer isn’t satisfied? I won’t be returning and neither will my husband.

I have had the opportunity to have several services at The Headroom ~ cuts and colours. I can honestly say that each time I have been there, my wellbeing has been all of the staffs goal. During one of my appointments, I was lucky enough for it to be a teaching appointment for one of their apprentices. During that appointment, Danielle, the owner, explained so much of what the customer could be thinking, and how the stylist should be responding; watching facial expressions, asking the right questions, staying in tune with your client. I was impressed with all the teaching and training and product knowledge that this salon does. If you are looking for a leading edge salon in Grande Prairie, this would be it!

Had my hair cut and treated by Amanda S. today. Definitely a better experience here than most places I've gone. Most just cut your hair quickly and send you on your way. But I was having issues with my hair and she took the time to explain how to fix it and gave me tips about everything. You can tell she really cares about her clients hair! I visited for a consultation. The stylist was pushing me for a conditioning treatment I did not ask for. I did want want some greys blended and lighter ends toned. We reviewed prices and everything seemed fine. I did return and recieved services. The entire time the stylist recommends some blondage extend shampoo and conditioner to keep my color fresh. It is expensive and I refuse. Less then a week later, I have yellow hair. .

Best color I've had in a decade. Melanie is a color and cutting GOD. No it's ands or buts about it. Gorgeous ashy browns and champagne babylights... The color litterally melts perfectly together... Result was better than I could ever imagine. I started with a deep brassy red, with a 4" regrowth of roots with grays and naturally ashy brown hair. My hair is very long, she cut beautiful layers in that DONT MAKE MY HAIR LOOK LIKE A STAIRCASE - and make my thin hair look so full!!!! 110% recommend.

Desire cut my wavy hair and it changed my life! I'm not even exaggerating. She cut to enhance my curls and showed me how to take care of my hair. I wish I could post a before and after because it's unbelievable. It's gone from frizzy and limp to bouncy and wavy. If you have any amount of texture to your hair, or even if it's just a bit frizzy and you can't figure out why, you owe it to yourself to see Desire. She's also really fun to hang out with, so that's a bonus!

Went in last Friday to get my hair a lighter blonde to match my extensions. I even brought in the extensions so the colour could be matched. Great service, very kind ladies. But I walked out with my hair darker than it was when I went in. When I left it looked blonde but after the first wash it just looks brown.. kinda disappointed for the amount of money I spent. I have to get it done again.. I’m willing to come back and give a second chance considering how nice the staff was. Just really inconvenient considering I wanted my hair to be done before I went on a trip.

I had this done August 7th , this morning one of my wefts had fallen out as the stylist rushed through and didn't sew it in properly. it has been 11 days these should last 1 year and I was garunteed that. needless to say I'm down one hair extenrion and the hair itself i had picked looks nothing like the picture and it is blended horribly. Stacie Forsberg has been amazing with my hair since I first went to her a couple years ago with a total color mishap! She fixed my red locks and kept me a gorgeous ginger all the while strengthening my hair. Then it was time to go blonde! My hair is in awesome shape and even with my sensitive skin to pretty much any hair product I needed to be using, Stacie still found products I could use to keep my hair great! I went into the headroom a couple days ago after doing a bit of research into the salons of the area, as I am new to GP. I booked with a 'master' stylist to get my blonde ombre refreshed. What I received was not masterful at all. The appointment was very rushed as they had clearly not booked enough time for my appointment. The stylist was very rough and clearly rushing as she was brushing my hair, I could hear and feel it ripping and breaking. The dye job was the least masterful thing I received. There was little blending near the roots and it looks very chunky and blocky (see attached photos). This is the most I've ever spent on a cut/dye (over $400) and so I was expecting a lot better. I'm very disappointed and ashamed of what my hair looks like now. Very unhappy and disappointed with The Headroom :(

She was very thorough in explaining what she thought should be done. I agreed, I had total confidence in her. Went for a haircut with Jamie. She had never cut my curly hair before, but she was very confident, and was familiar with the do’s and don’ts of curly hair, made suggestions for exactly what I needed done with my hair before I even had to say. Bailey did a really nice job of my hair. I got a cut, color and bonding treatment. She was knowledgeable and friendly. The only suggestion I have is to work on cleanliness. I was the first appointment of the day and there was hair on the counter and on the floor. However, I would still recommend Bailey as a stylist.

I met with Amanda and she gave me advice and some suggestions; I let her do her thing and take over because she made me feel comfortable. (I also creeped her IG portfolio) Since she has done my hair; I've cried with joy twice because I feel beautiful again and I deserve it. I have thanked over and over because it takes a lot to give myself self care when so busy working full time and being a mom full time. Black to blonde is never easy, im aware of that but after nearly 600$ and 2 sessions later my hair is orange/red after asking for a blonde baylayage.... After my second session it was a bit lighter and looked a little blonde but after my first wash it faded out and now i look and feel like a chucky doll...ive decided to book elsewhere because im concerned ill waste another 270$ and still not acheive the dirty blonde baylayage i want at my 3rd appointment. Over all staff is really friendly and nice, i thought my hairdresser was awesome but i just dont think this is the place for me.

She said it was a miscommunication but the picture I showed was pretty self explanatory. $220 for something I don't feel confident in isn't awesome ☹️ So disappointed! To anyone who reads this, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND the Headroom South as the team there is fantastic and THEY ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO CUT HAIR - prices are really affordable and the experience is one you won't get anywhere else. I'm fairly new to Grande Prairie but had a negative experience at the previous salon I went to as they completely destroyed my hair and it took over 3 months to get it back to the way it was. I was super skeptical about trying a new place after that HORRIBLE experience, but I'd heard about the Headroom South and saw the good reviews on google so I decided to give it a try. The young woman who cut my hair, Amanda Seary, before starting took the time to ask me what I liked/disliked from previous cuts and was wanting from this cut/ what look I was going for. I immediately started to feel comfortable and less skeptical as Amanda actually LISTENED to my feedback and based on that provided me with options on what she thought would be the best cut for me. We agreed and throughout the whole haircut Amanda was very kind, considerate, and enjoyable to be around. She checked in with me throughout the cut and I've never had that experience before as my previous stylists would butcher the cut and ask ME AFTER what I thought about it. My hair turned out amazing and I will NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE but the Headroom South because of Amanda Seary and her team. I've been going there now for over 3 months and I walk out feeling so good and confident as my hair looks amazing every time. I have another appointment booked with Stacie after the Alberta quarantine. Stacie is phenomenal, she's very kind and caring, making me feel very welcomed, and she did a remarkable job on my hair, I would and have recommended her and the headroom to countless friends and people at work. I receive a ton of compliments on my hair now. She gave me a hair cut that makes me look and feel a lot younger. After and during my bleaching she was explaining how to take care of my freshly dyed blonde hair and its really helped. I love love love The Headroom! My first appointment was August long weekend and I got in to see Amanda Seary. I decided to get a major transformation and chopped off all my hair. Not only was Amanda amazing, the entire salon was encouraging and supportive of the whole process, which included an incredible color change as well as the cut. The service was great, from the coffee and baileys to all the comments and input as it happened. I felt at home from the moment I walked in, and have been back twice since with my next appointment already. Having a stylist who isn’t afraid to have an opinion on the direction to go, while still listening to my thoughts is exactly what this is! The experience in the salon is great, and I am a very loyal client!

I have been seeing Amanada Seary at the Head Room now for quite some time! Hands down the best hair stylist I have had in years!!!! I came in with a very difficult situation (bad coloring,matting and very poor done extentions etc., etc. from an outside source).I was very insecure about my situation. Right away she made me feel comfortable. Amanda made my hair perfect! Since beginning to see her about a year ago my hair has been healthy and my extentions are perfect! I mean perfect! If you are visiting the head room ask for Amanda! She is kind professional and patient. I hope to never have to see another stylist ever again! She has brought back a confidence in me I had lost when it came to my hair havent had since my early 20's and I am forever greatful! I don't ever write reviews but this girl deserves recognition for her work and just being a good person to her clients all around. If I could rate a zero, I Would!!! After coming in for my appointment, I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted done (same picture I had shown a different stylist of the same level, in the same salon) she made some suggestions and proceeded to give me a quote. $300.... when I told her that that was way over a $100 more than what I had paid previously and asked if I could get the same thing as I had before she said she would not be able to. I asked her if maybe prices had changed since I had been there last. At that point she told me ( in front of other staff and clients) that I should just go and book a different appointment with a different stylist. I was humiliated and disgusted!!!! Not only by the prices but mostly by the way I was treated!!!!

So I’m going to start off my saying that I have always been nervous about trusting someone to colour/cut my hair. After looking at the reviews for The Headroom, I decided to give them a try. I had hairdresser Katie work her magic (for real it was like literal magic !!) on my hair and I’m just gonna say WOW she knows what she’s doing!!! She was soo knowledgeable and you could tell right off the hop that she was passionate about what she does . I have never felt soo confident with the tone and blending of blonde hair till after today . She made sure that she understood what I wanted then she just went multiple levels above that expectation. 10/10 recommend her and this establishment to anyone that wants to feel like a Queen!

I had probably bounced between 5 salons until I finally met Danielle which I think is going on 6 years. Because of where I worked, I found myself a little particular in the things that not everyone notices. From the minute you are greeted when you walk in the door, and how friendly all the staff is...they know YOU! You are not a customer, you are a client, and they make you feel wanted and very welcome. This salon strives on knowing the latest and greatest in all the techniques and focuses and supports so much training and education. A local Salon supporting local....they are unique, focused and just an overall great team. I always feel so great when I'm leaving...whether it be because my hair is looking beautiful, or if I just stopped in to pick up product and had a friendly conversation. Made an appointment for makeup for a wedding and a trial, the website said it would 45$ + per person. When we went in for the trial it was the same price as the actual makeup for the day of, and it ended up being 75$ per person!! We spent 180$ for trial make up for 2 people to wash it off an hour later. For the make up itself I didnt mind the eye make up, but the lady did not match the foundation colour to my skin, and I asked for a simple application and got a very dramatic look. We canceled our appointment for the wedding.

I had high hopes for this salon, but unfortunately was a little let down. I went in for a lighter balayage but came out darker. I feel like the color doesn't blend and melt like a proper balayage should and that is disappointing because the color contrast is now pretty blunt instead of a gradual blend against my dark roots. I really wanted to like this salon due to the good reviews and friendly staff, but I just wasn't wowed by the outcome and wish I didn't get my hair done in the first place.

My go to place to get my hair done. I get my hair done by Chantelle she is hands down the BEST in town!!! Always knows what to do with my hair. Been a foreign I have always had a hard time finding the right person that knows how to deal with my crazy volume and thick hair. So happy with the service I always get! I know I can always bring my little one with me and Chantelle always makes sure we are both well taken care. Chantelle is also amazing with kids hair. LOVE this place!

Worst salon I have ever been to! My appointment was booked for noon. I had a hair cut and my eye brows to be done. I showed up 10 minutes early. The stylist was still with her previous client so the receptionist did my eye brows around 12. She finish around 1215 and said my stylist would be another 15 minutes. I was still waiting at 1 PM. An hour past my appointment and no one came to me to say anything. Just kept walking by as if nothing was wrong. Worst customer service I have ever had in a salon.
