Unfortunately it was a pretty rushed haircut, I spent maybe 10-15 minutes in the chair. My haircut ended up pretty lopsided and it wasn't really a clean cut (looks pretty messy especially after the water dried). $17 bucks is a decent price for a haircut, but I would have at least expected a little more time and effort put into the cut.

The mentioned lines are from loyal customers that come back her time and time again. I used to come back to Kingston from Toronto to get a haircut from Vecchio's when I first graduated.

For all the hype I would suggest maybe get another barber working for you guys.... went in today around 11am and 6 people were waiting and 1 person working. Hard times to wait over an hour for a trim. 1 person working??? Although.... went back early the next day and got a sick trim from the younger buck. Definitely recommend

A family business (uncle and nephew). My husband has been going there for more than 30 years. He now has dementia and they manage his condition beautifully: always welcoming and delighted to see him, never rushing him, patiently assisting him to negotiate in and out of the barber's chair and being very respectful throughout. They always take care of trimming his mustache as well as his hair. It is often pretty busy but they have ample seating for the varied clientele who might need to wait. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

I hope you read this review before considering Vecchio's. I would express two points in this post: 1) The service was brutal and 2) the quality of cut was absolutely terrible. After reading amazing reviews of their work here on Google, I was THOROUGHLY disappointed by the utter impatience and subpar quality. The entire experience was beyond stressful and demonstrated Vecchio's lack of professionalism as well as inadequate hair-cutting abilities. I will try to explain below. 1. The attitude of the employee was entirely disrespectful. As someone who had never been to a Western-styled barber shop, I was unaware of the common colloquialisms used in hair dressing. (i.e. #2, #3 cuts, etc.) When asked "how short do you want it," I said "not too short," as I usually do with the barbers I go to. The particular Vecchio's employee made a point to express his difficulties comprehending the "not too short" comment, mentioning that different people mean different things when they say "not too short." I then showed him a couple pictures of the approximate length I preferred, to which he said in a very impatient tone that he still couldn't tell. Only after he began cutting my hair, did he mention that people generally used #2, #3, etc. to specify length. I apologized at length for not knowing the "right" way to talk about length in this context. I had never encountered a barber who absolutely REQUIRED lengths to be specified as "#2, #3, etc.," and I made that perfectly clear. Nevertheless, he continued to speak as if I was intentionally trying to make his job hard, which made the entire experience unbelievably tense. 2. The cut was absolutely horrid. Despite showing him pictures of the cut I wanted, the barber's end result was not even remotely close. When I asked him to fix it to look at least a little bit similar, he looked at me with disbelief, as if I had insulted him personally, asked if I had $20 extra, and proceeded to entirely destroy my hair. I literally left the barber looking like a wild animal. From the front, it was obvious that the left and right were completely unsymmetrical; on the left, the hair was short all along the side, and suddenly spiked up near the top; and this was not the effect shown in the pictures I gave him. From the back, the barber left 3-4 strands of hair sticking up about 5x longer than all the other hairs. Furthermore, the entire left side of the back was about 2x longer than the right side. Again, these were effects not present in the pictures. Despite all these inadequacies, I did not ask for further fixes for two reasons. 1) I could feel that the barber was angry and did not want him to make any more rash cuts to my hair and 2) He cut the hair so short that there was barely any room to make fixes besides shaving me bald. This is not the first time I have had my hair cut. I've had haircuts all over the world, in Germany, Hong Kong, USA, all over Ontario, and yes, in my mother's kitchen. This was BY FAR my worst experience, bar none. I've not even gotten into the emotional trauma I've have to endure, walking around with this "dead animal on my head" so to say. I recognize that this barber shop seems to be quite well known and respected in the Kingston area. They also seem to have great reviews and steady business (as I could tell from this review board and the number of people waiting). I am thoroughly baffled as to why my experience was so terrible. Not in a million years would I wish my greatest enemy to visit this establishment.

The hair cuts are roughly what you’d expect when paying less than $20 but my main issue was the enormous waste of time my visit was. I walked in around 1400 today and there were 4 people ahead of me with 1 barber. Considering the speed of the cuts I felt this wouldn’t be too long a wait and so I hung around for ~30-40 minutes. The barber did an okay job of approximating the same haircut on different heads and one guy popped out for 10 min to return for his haircut later (this will become relevant later). I end up getting a call which I take and I understand that speaking on the phone can be loud so it’s not unexpected when the barber tells me to take the call outside. The guy was rude about it but hey who cares, I’m here to get a trim and if my call is bothering people then I’m happy to get out of their hair. Remembering the guy from earlier I pop back in after ~20-30min and the line is significantly longer now (maybe 7 people). Anyways, I wait for him to finish up another haircut (same style, same middling quality workmanship) and ask if I can go next and the barber tells me “No you’re at the back of the line now. I told you to take your call outside the window. Now you wait. I told you so.” His exact words earlier were “get out I don’t want to hear you on the phone” and he pointed outside. Not only had I literally seen somebody leave and come back to resume their place in the queue but the barber felt he had to tell me to wait again with an “I told you so”? There didn’t seem to be any consistency in the arbitrary rules set forth and while it could just be that the guy had a bad day, a modicum of professionalism would’ve been appreciated. Overall I saw 5 haircuts and wasted nearly an hour. If you drop by this spot you’re in for a mediocre haircut with terrible service at a good price.

Walked in after no haircut but a buddy with scissors around my ears for the last 3 months and gave the barber no direction other than “I’m growing my hair out for a year but have an important meeting next week and can’t look like a homeless guy”. Looking for the best barber shop (note: NOT salon) in the city? This is the place to go. I've had my hair cut quite literally from coast to coast and this is one of the best places I have patronized. I've been going to this shop for the past few years. Marc and Greg are both skilled barbers and I always leave with what I want. They try to be clear on what I want and are not afraid to ask for clarification. This is part of their great communication. I've been there with 10 clients in line and the amazing part is that in our impatient, short attention span society I never see anybody fidgeting or showing impatience. Quality is always worth waiting for. And yes, it is a bit old fashioned in that they don't take appointments and only accept cash, but those are very minor points to me. Keep up the good work guys!!

Stopped in to get a medium skin fade and a shave, didn't get greeted at all for starters. The wait was almost an hour with 2 barbers which is expected at most places. The gentleman I got asked what I wanted and when I told him a Medium Skin fade seemed he didn't know what that entailed. He cut it a bit high for my liking but still was a decent fade. The part that got me to rate so low was when I told him to leave the front and we will see how it looks after he cut the rest of it, of course he chopped away at it. I let it go until he tried to keep going. Upon asking him to stop cutting the front because it was getting to short he seemed affronted that I requested that. He then lifts the front between his fingers and asks "you think this is to short?" Yes I do, it's my hair, not yours and for 17 dollars with an almost hour wait and attitude my business will go somewhere else. Also didn't get a shave because the other guy went on lunch, not their fault but I'm glad I saved 35 bucks and will do it myself for that type of service.

Honestly the worst cut I have gotten in my life. I came here because of all the glowing reviews, but was very very disappointed. The younger man was the one who did the cut and he was done in perhaps 15 minutes, the quickest cut I have ever gotten. He cut my hair extremely sloppily and did not smoothen out the look after (all my hair was cut straight and looked very abnormal) and this all cost $17. Definitely never coming here again.
