This first time I went there, the guy with the beard was not pleasant at all. I showed up on time for my appointment and the guy with the beard willingly neglected to even acknowledge me or ask if I had an appointment. Instead, he decided to have a beer and have a 15 minute long cigarette break outside while on phone, then he decided to clean the front. I decided to give them a second shot hoping for a good experience. Same thing experience as the first time— I waited 15 minutes to for my 12:30 appointment that I made in advanced for the barber to decide to cut his friends hair that just randomly showed up and willingly neglected to take me for my appointment. This is the absolute worst barber shop in the city. There was no apology, no explanation. He just simply wanted to cut his friends hair and most likely sip the nude vodka Soda he was about to crack at 12:30pm while working instead of honouring my appointment. They didn’t even acknowledge me as I was leaving. Do not waste your time. Or money. They do not provide a service worth what they’re charging. I recommend anywhere else. 1 star is a kind review. There should be a negative star.

I do not care for a barber having more of a passion to shoot photos and generating web traffic for social media than cutting hair. Perhaps FortKnight should become a media company rather than a barber, generated traffic you have. Good or bad, traffic is traffic, enjoy!

If you travel at all through the American South, you experience barber shops as community meeting place on the regular. You can stop in for a haircut, or a shave, but really what you're there to do is visit. Fortknight, tucked away as it is, in the corner of gastown, is as good a barbershop as you will find in all of Vancouver. A great cut, a close shave and good people.

Best barbershop I’ve ever been to. The cuts are always top notch, as well as the beard trims. Real community vibe: you can have a chat with everyone in the shop while getting your cut, or if you’re not feeling talkative you can chill. They’re always super welcoming but note that they’re a no BS crew. If you want to come in with BS, how do you say, “fuhggetaboutit”.

I really didn't like getting a haircut here. I think the staff needs more specialized training to get my 50 bucks again. The appointment was 25 minutes late and the space was dirty. It was awful.

I don't like to give bad reviews, but my friends mom's haircut is better than this 50 dollar haircut. The appointment was 15 minutes late... Was not a very pleasant experience.

One of few pinnacles of barbery in the lower mainland. Phenomenal craftsmen such as Will Smith, high class, highest quality. A good cut ain't cheap, and a cheap cut ain't good. If you havn't enjoyed the experience of a true barber shop, start here. Second to none. Beware, though; once you've had a real haircut you wont be able to settle on anything else. Thanks for keepin me fresh, boys.

I'd had this place reccomended to me by friends a while back so I tagged along with my partner when he made an appointment for noon. The shop was closed when we arrived, the gate unlocked but half closed over one if the doors, even though it was supposed to be open for abt an hour by now. Weird. We call, to see if something is wrong or we got the wrong time, and the line picks up and hangs up on us. Also weird. We're starting to feel unsure, and a couple minutes later a lexus parks in front of us, a guy hops out without acknowledging us (we were right outside the shop), another guy had arrived in a cab at near the same time, and they both go into the shop and close the door. The blinds go up and one guy literally just sorta.... throws open the door a few inches and we take it as an indication to go in. One of the guys ask my s/o "you're (his name)?" He says "yes sir!" Or something to that degree, and he literally just says "hang tight" and he proceeds to leave to smoke a cigar with his buddy outside. My s/o decides then to take his business elsewhere, as not even 5 words had been said to us at that point, and "hello" or "sorry, stressful morning i gotta go smoke" were not any of them. (How do you not greet your customers when YOU are late and your customer is literally greeting you?!) Also, wasn't keen on having to smell/smell like that guy's cigar the whole time he was paying 70$+ for a professional service. Wish I'd read some of the bad reviews before we'd gone, as it's clear this is not the first time this situation has happened, and I get now why the people who reccomended it had only gone in there for one-off appointments. Wish I had the option of 0 stars! ????‍♀️

The guy who cut my hair was outside smoking a cigarette and kind of gave me this condescending nod as I came in and told me I was late (I was 5 minutes late). I showed him pictures of the haircut I was looking for and specifically told him what I wanted. 20 minutes later he told me he was finished and it wasn't even close. I asked him to do it again. 10 more minutes pass. And I show him the picture again. The guy says "well I'm not going to give you three hair cuts and you were late anyway" so I just paid him and went somewhere else the next day
