The cuts I get here are definitely about the atmosphere and the knowledgeable staff. For cut quality, there are on par with their pricing in Calgary in my experience. +1 for Tamara +1 for Filthy Fades

Very friendly. However, I asked for a classic fade and ended up with a 1 length buzzed undercut. Not a good haircut at all.. I actually buzzed off what was left so I didnt have to hide it.

I have got a Buzz cut on Saturday Mar 10, 2018 at Royal Oak. The lady who gave me the hair cut didn't even bother saying hi to me. She kept turning the seat around to cut my hair instead of her moving around to the point I got dizzy. She never let me look in to the mirror during the hair cut and even after the haircut I myself looked in the mirror to make sure I got the right hair cut which it wasn't the right one!!!!!! I was mad enough that I didn't even bother to bring it up to her. I have had hair cut at this location before and never has this experience.

I was previously a customer of this location for a couple years - the people working there generally don't seem too bothered if you have to wait a couple minutes while they walk around playing with their phones before taking you in and they seemed constantly distracted but have normally left me looking pretty good so I kept going back. This week they made a mistake and left me with a terribly uneven haircut then gelled my hair straight back to hide it so I didn't notice it until that night after a shower. I came back the next day to get it fixed and the guy there outright blamed me for the problem saying I just didn't understand what was done and must have explained what I wanted wrong (it is 1 inch different on the left compared to the right, no I didn't ask for that) and was generally abrasive about the situation then charged me for the haircut after fixing it. It just cost me $25 to look like an idiot for a day, then more the next day to fix it. I'll be going somewhere else from now on.

Its more amusing to get a 5 star hair cut when your barber actually talks to you, the workers do there jobs precisely and with passion. Very impressed, they are now my go to barber shop!

Went once and was a friendly and comfortable experience. I'm going back as soon as I can. There are plenty of places that will cut your hair. This place will take care of your hair. I don't have my hair done much but this will be my regular place from now on. I don't feel like a "generic customer" there.

When you have young kids getting a haircut is a hit or miss. Many spots made for children are a miss so I decided to go to a barber this time. I was not disappointed, the gentleman worked very diligently on my son's hair. He did a great job. The price is pretty much the same everywhere but it is the quality that matters. I will go back again.

If you care for a clean and precise haircut then avoid this place. They cut hair in such a sloppy and rushed way. Got an undercut and the guy cut INTO my long hair on top and now my lines are jagged. Hilariously bad! Avoid!

Horrible service. Waited and nobody acknowledged that we were there. After making a fuss, told the lady what cut my 9 yr old wanted and she simply dint look amused and straight up said no. Refused the haircut and left. Not worth a star at all.

My grandmother was charged $47 for a "hair cut" but the stylist didn't listen to her when she asked for shorter hair. She was too shy to ask about the price but that seems outrageous for a senior with short hair and asking for basic trim. Wont be recommending this place from now on, I wish I was there to question it before she paid. Her hair looked the exact same after the cut and she was upset but didn't want to cause a scene. She said she asked the stylist to go shorter but she didn't. She has had a cut here before and didn't remember being charged that much, and was much happier with the cut. If there is an upcharge for covid then fine but communicate that with your customers before sitting them down in the chair. I'd be happy for someone to reach out to me to try to correct this, as I can't recommend this place to anyone anymore.

I've had a mohawk for many years and am quite particular about how it is shaped and trimmed. Christine at denim and smith gave me a close clean cut with amazing lines. The atmosphere was relaxed and it made getting a regular maintainace item much more enjoyable.

I went to the location in Royal Oak. The barber(s) there give haircuts with skill and professionalism one would expect to pay much more for. Every time I leave there it feels like I'm wearing a work of art on my head. Highly recommended.

I'd been searching for a new place to get my haircut for a couple years after moving and not being willing to travel that far to my usual stylist. I was reluctant to go to Denim and Smith because it seemed a bit too franchisey for me but I'm glad I did. The haircut I received was probably my favourite haircut that I've had in the past decade. The barber was also very helpful in pointing out what will work and won't with my hair and then what to do in order to get the same look I left with.

Have been going here for a number of years. Went in today after work. Three girls working and a few people waiting. Was told it would be about a ten to fifteen minute wait. After waiting for twenty five minutes I was next and a girl just finished with one client. Then she proceeded to talk to him for ten minutes after he paid his bill. At that point I just got up and walked out. No concept of customer service. I won't be back.

Recently tried Denim & Smith after moving to the neighborhood and I will definitely be back. I'm not overly attractive and I've never done well with the opposite sex, but since Kelsey cut my hair, there's a lineup of women around the block. The only criticism I have is that I didn't find Denim & Smith sooner.

I would describe my experience as sloppy. My cut looked good when I left. It was styled nice but after a shower I noticed a bunch of uneven cuts. My Grandmother could spot the long uncut hair and she cant see so well. The barber was also pretty rough with the electric razor and cut my head a couple times. In my opinion it's not worth giving a second chance.

Kelsey is the only barber that I will go to. I have followed her to three different Denim and Smith locations. She listens to exactly what I want; she is meticulous in the way she cuts my hair and she is extremely professional. The only negative thing is that she is very popular so quite often I have to wait to get my hair done.

I go to barber shops because I prefer to have my hair cut by men, so I was disappointed to find it was only staffed by women. I was in a hurry though so I went for it and my stylist was friendly and professional and the price was decent. Haircut was okay, but after styling myself I noticed some uneven parts and the blending was nowhere near as precise as my usual barber. Not bad, but probably won't be back.

My Hubby ALWAYS goes in to see Nikita! Only Barber allowed to touch his hair. She is always on time and is up to date with the new styles. She also takes the time to get to know us and have conversations with us while we are there. She knows the kind of work My Husband does and knows during the summer months his sleep is important, so a high maintenance hairdo won't do. In the winter he loves looking sleek!
