I don't trust any and any body really to do my cut and my barber from Vancouver told me about Troy and I'm glad he did...so be it a fade..or design...Status got you.

At the shop, we showed Rayne a picture of a style, I was anxious...she looked confident and reassured me. I left and came back to see an amazing result (like the picture- very short but still feminine!) on my daughter, and they were both smiling:). A decent venue, but very pricey. The coffee shop style punch card they gave me won't see much use mainly based on the atmosphere. The music was all top 40 stuff which is fine and will suit most, but the place was quite messy and the space was used poorly, and just draws your eyes towards the clutter. Most of the hairdressers were sitting on the couches on their phones, and all but one had very questionable haircuts. The cut was fine, but was little better than something I could've gotten from elsewhere for half the price. The dresser herself was nice and I gave a small tip (if I gave a larger percentage I might as well be getting dinner with it!). I likely won't be visiting again, but I am happy with the cut I received. Overall, better than average.

These guys saved my bacon yesterday. I had just received a cheap haircut from a discount competitor, and it showed... I had to take new head-shot photos for work the next day (today), and my hair looked terrible. My girlfriend called around in a last ditch effort, and these guys managed to sneak me in at the last minute just as they were closing for the day. Troy was very reassuring on the phone about helping me out, and Martin gave me one of the best haircuts of my life. I've been to Status on several occasions and I'm always happy with my haircuts - you know you've had a solid haircut when you don't have to do any touch-ups at home after. Great atmosphere and the people that work there are also very friendly and definitely take pride in their cuts. My only concern is that their price seems to vary every time I go in for the same haircut, not sure why this is or where they got the numbers from that day.

There is only a few certain things that i would write a review for. A proper haircut would be one of them. Coming from Alberta, trying out many different places, “hair studios” “Barbershops” was a challenge at first due to my family owning a Barbershop business. My whole life I have only got haircuts from family members, and just picture..trying out different places... you get anxiety, fear, doubt aaaand prolong a haircut for as long as possible. Walking into Status, explaining my fears, my wants and needs instantly made me feel like I was back at home.. Comfortable, relaxed and ready for a haircut. They understand what you want and have in mind. Everybody that I’ve got a haircut from at Status has been phenomenal and fantastic. Great haircuts, great service and unbelievable atmosphere. This is THE place to recommend to your Family, Friends and simply anybody who is looking for a great experience while getting a trim.

I remember the day I walked into Status, looking online I knew I wanted to meet Troy and see if he had time to help me out. I am originally from Calgary and have been to many Barbershops ( Alberta Barbershop, The Ave, etc,..) The owner of Status- Troy, is professional, greets clients as they enter ( very much barbershop like) so its walk in only. There is the option to call in and put your name on a list (an hour before, or if your having a hairmergency) * So, thats always a plus. The ambience is great, friendly and they have a great team with a diverse skill set. Not saying its for everyone, but Status is a community, a place where you can go in ( every 2-3 weeks) depending on your needs, sit down with your Barber, share some jokes, catch up on life, share stories, all while getting a clean cut. It took me sometime to find someone or someplace where I could felt I connected well with the ambience and the barber. Give Status a try!

It may be that you're going to get a pre-programmed cut here, no matter what you ask for? Brought a photo and asked for a short and blunt-at-the-back cut, with minimal layering/feathering. Got a very short and heavy-on-the -clippers result—nothing remotely resembling blunt. Disappointed. Maybe I don't have the right language.

Great spot. I took my son there last Friday and he was in a chair with a cool young dude, cutting his hair, in about 2 minutes. We did not have to make an appointment, which I love. We live far from town so to be able to just drop in and get a haircut was very convenient. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with comfortable couches, TV, and great music playing. All the people working there were friendly, cordial and just happy to be working there. I highly recommend a visit to Status Barber Shop. You'll definitely be back more than once.

I came in for the first time for a cut since my regular hairdresser was away, and had Karen for my stylist. Once I got home and washed the product out of my hair, I quickly realized that my natural part was not cooperating and falling where it normally does, which created a very uneven weight line on the side of my head. I called and explained what had happened, and Karen didn't hesitate at all to get me to come back in so she could blend the weight line in and fix the unnevenness. As soon as I got in the door I was received with a warm welcome and a smile from Troy, and was informed that it might be a little longer wait time due to them being busy. I put my name down on the green sheet and sat down. This place looks amazing. It is very warm and sort of feels like home. What really peaked my interested was how friendly all of the barbers were and the bond they had with their regulars. Now I have been to a lot of different barbers but this one definitely sticks out from the rest. The atmosphere in there is so relaxing and wonderful. It's as though there is no stress in the world. I was very much surprised when it was my turn and I was greeted by an amazing friendly welcome by Troy. Troy greets you with a big handshake and a big infectious smile that no matter how down or off a day you might be experiencing, will bring a smile to your face. I felt so comfortable with Troy and just felt this huge trust in him to trim my beard and style my hair. I have tricky hair to cut and rarely feel comfortable with anyone on a first appointment. The results were amazing. He did a great job and was clearly comfortable and confident in his skills. I've never had such a great haircut, especially from someone working with my hair for the first time. I recommend this place to anyone seeking a amazing barber with a relaxed attitude and incredible skills.

Hair cut was very well done aside from my side burns being slightly different on each side. Atmosphere was good. I asked to get my eye brows slightly trimmed because they were getting curly and I ended up losing a chunk of my one brow. I have tried 5-6 different barbershops in Victoria. I will not say there aren’t any other good BBS in Vic; I will say that if you want a proper premium fade, by anyone of the barbers at Status, I would def say to go there. By far the best service I have gotten here amongst the other so called BBS that may look the part, but don’t live up to their hype. It’s all walk in, but they have a ton of really great barbers, so the wait is never too long.

I went in because I had a half-ass cut from some no-name barber, and I just wasn't happy. That cut was just a few weeks ago, and so the barber (T-Bone) didn't have much to work with; however, I was very pleased with the haircut I got and the conversation I had with him. He even called over another stylist at one point to discuss what to do with a certain part of my cut, which I think is so cool that they collaborate on styling.. Half a dozen visits to Status and I've yet to have a less than exceptional experience. The atmosphere is laid-back, the staff are all super friendly, and the barbershop itself is clean and professional. Every barber has their own personal style but they all deliver when it comes to giving clients what they are looking for. I had one of the newer barbers by the name of Andy aka Lefty cut my hair today. I was very happy with the end product- I will definitely be going back to see him! Highly recommend Status for anyone looking for a sharp cut in an upbeat barbershop.

I’ve been getting my hair cut here since i moved to Victoria in August. I’ve always been super happy with the haircuts I’ve gotten and the place has a great atmosphere. Although the last 2 times I’ve come in ive got the same guy and it has not been good at all and i think i might try somewhere else. First time i got this guy he just didn’t t do what i wanted at all but i decided that hey maybe i just wasn't clear, so today i gave him a second chance. I decided to show him a picture so it was clear what i wanted (low/medium fade). He looked at the picture twice and seemed like he knew what he was doing but he turns you around so you cant see in the mirror the whole time hes cutting and then by the time hes done and turns you back around its too late. He went wayyyy too high on the fade and his fade was super choppy, like clear lines in it where is should fade. Honestly super unhappy with my cut. Probably the worst I’ve ever had and i did my best to fix it myself when i got home. Total waste if $36. Not giving status as a shop 2 stars because normally they are great but this guy deserves a max 2 stars. For anyone wondering who this guy is, I’m pretty sure his name is Martin (did some digging on instagram), hes got pretty long puffy hair and some tattoos. Consider yourselves warned!

I personally think Status barber shop is the best in town because every single barber brings their own unique style to the table. They really make a great team and are well versed in barbering. Competing in competitions and always pushing themselves to do better and learn more which I find really inspiring. My favourite barber would be Rayne. I just want to send a koodo's to Gary for a great haircut and excellent customer service! I stopped in last week for a cut and had the privilege of sitting in Gary's chair. The entire experience was top notch, right from the moment I entered the shop. Gary greeted me at the front counter and wrote my name down then invited me in to wait for a short 20 mins or so. He was knowledgeable about hair growth and gave me some great information pertaining to my apparent hair thinning! The haircut was great, I even received a compliment from my gf when I got home! In the past 12 years i have lived in Vancouver, and Saskatoon and i have struggled to find a consistently good barber. I moved to Victoria 2 years ago and my experience at Status has been amazing. All the staff are friendly and cheerful, that welcoming approach is reflected in the owner who greets and engages every customer walking in the door like family. Wandered in off the street for a much needed cut and was greeted immediately by one of the barbers who asked me to sign in and take a seat. Wasnt waiting for more than 2 minutes and 'momma joy' went to work making me presentable. Not being from Victoria, Momma Joy wrote down a list of must see's in town, and made sure I had her business card in case I needed further directions. During my cut, the owner - Troy, introduced himself and asked where I was from. Turns out he was the original person to greet me when I first came in. The site says they welcome female clients but I feel like an alien every time I walk in there. They handle me like they don't know what to do with me and I've been passed around before. I've gotten my hair cut by three different people and every time was pretty confusing even though I always showed realistic pictures and was open to their interpretation. For some reason "pixie cut" is a foreign word that is only met with confusion. Maybe barber's don't do pixie cuts and I'm in the wrong? I believe they state that they do long hair (which seems more complicated?) and my hair is pretty short so I thought it would be fine. Basically if you're looking for a pixie cut this is not the place.

Been going to status for the past couple years and have nothing but a great experience. The fades are always on point. My last visit was more than undesirable. I explained my haircut as a fade with just an inch off the top, I guess the lady misheard me and thought I said an inch left on the top. I normally wouldn't care because hair grows, but upon further inspection of my freshly chopped mop, I noticed it was drastically uneven. I actually look ridiculous. There are sections of my hair that were obviously missed. I didn't notice this during my haircut because I wear glasses, and because she put so much grease in my hair that I didn't ask for. Bit disappointed I paid 35 dollars to wear a hat for a week. Besides this one experience status is a great place to go.

My go to barber is Rayne, but if she isn't available I also highly recommend, Troy (The owner), Maurice(MoCutz), or Kane(Wolfman). I've been going to Rayne now for almost a year and she always does such a terrific job!! She outdoes herself every time and never seizes to impress me. Whenever I walk out of status, I'm always looking fresh!! Thank you Status :) keep doing what you do best.

You can't really review this place as a whole. Some of the barber's are the best I've ever seen and then theirs others that are no better then your average $15 haircut. The pricing is also woefully inconsistent some barber's charge $35 and another will charge $45 for the exact same cut.

I have been going to Status for over 7 years now. Every year with less and less hair. I bring them my limited porcupine hair growth every time and let them work their magic. I have never been disappointed. Every time I have left status feeling less bald and looking mint. If you have hair or are looking for a clean shave, this is the place to be. Even the beard cuts are on point every time, in my experiences elsewhere, a proper beard service is quite a rarity. Highly recommended to anyone.

He knows what he is doing and styled my hair in a very nice fashion. I had trouble replicating what he had done so I gave him a text asking for some help. The atmosphere at Status is also great, with its clean, contemporary look. A comfortable waiting area completes the package with good music and a large screen TV set to the sports channel. The staff are not only super-friendly, but very professional and skilled at their trade. The price may seem a bit steep but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

My little boy has two cow licks that can be difficult to work with. I've gone to many barbers and even tried a beauty salon to get the right hair cut. I've never found anyone who really listened to what I wanted for my son and have been disappointed everytime. So I decided to try status for the first time thinking why not? If it doesn't work I'll just add them to the list of places that I've had bad experiences with. My little guy has CP and has been through alot in his young life. So the one thing I wanted was for him to have a cool hair cut like all the other little boys. We were very fortunate that we got Rayne as his barber. Like many other moms I showed her the haircut I wanted for my son. She was amazing! She actually listened to what I wanted ,a GQ cut that I could dress up but also one that he could play inside or outside and still look great. Rayne nailed it !! I've never been more happy. We are even at the grow out phase and he still looks adorable. We are definitely going back. I tell everyone who asks where he got this amazing haircut at.
