Worst haircut experience ever in Halifax. Felt unwelcomed, a bit rude when asked about suitable hairstyle for my hair.... all they asked me to do was to choose from one of the 5 haircut; from the poster on a wall. Didn't even bother to moist my curls before before using scissors... I just ended up with uneven hair lengths, which makes it obvious especially while using products on my hair to style it up. In & out in less than 8mins, no attention to details, as if they just wanted me out... even when the shop was empty. They might be good, but not good enough to understand different hair.

Uppercutz is a men's barber shop with friendly staff. Their prices are reasonable for the quality of their service, but they can get busy quickly, so best to go early in the day or book an appointment. They offer a wide range of hairstyling and beard trimming services and options.

I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this place, and was so excited to have my son’s hair cut. Everything online says they are open from 12-5 on a Sunday. At noon I called, went to the door (no sign indicating that they were opening late), and waited. Then, at 12:15 someone answered and explained that they were opening an hour later because “yesterday was so busy”. This is poor business, and I’m fortunate that I was driving. I headed over to Tommy Guns on Larry Uteck and had a fantastic experience- I’ll be going back there for sure!

Hands down the best barbershop in the HRM. Awesome atmosphere, with bumping tunes and all the barbers are super friendly. You can tell that these ladies love what they do and they are good at it too. So far I've had haircuts from April and Jamie and they are the best cuts I've ever had. If you want a top notch cut and a great overall experience this is the place to go.

I made an appointment on the phone. I arrived on time and the lady told me to wait 10 mins, she went outside and then came back, and went right back out to smoke before coming back inside. I told her what I wanted and she said pick one of the 5 from the wall. She was rude and made me wait and in the end I just left before she cut my hair because she clearly didn’t know what she was doing. Not professional 100% don’t recommend

First haircut in Halifax. My barber took me as a walk-in about 1 hour before I had to be at a wedding. She was very skilled and in 20 minutes or less, she gave me one of the best mid-level skin fades I have ever gotten. As a visible minority (black), I was extremely impressed and as someone who visits this city quite often, I will definitely be giving this place my business exclusively.

I use to get my haircut at Upper Cutz once a month at Upper Cutz for a couple year's service and quality of the cut was always top notch...not sure what happened but quality and service is gone and so are the top notch barber's...the salon was not clean..no hand sanitizer and no wipe down of the chair...I would not recommend Upper Cutz for your next haircut

Until I gave Upper Cutz a good try (6-7 visits), I thought that the expertise that barber shops offered was just *knowing how to cut dudes' hair.* What's weird about these folks is that they concentrate on a niche market; and if you're not in that niche... it's like they just don't understand you. They're nice enough ladies - which is what encouraged me to give it a good try - but there are better shops for me. The thing that finally got me looking for a new barber was after Upper Cutz started mandatory appointments, I still had to wait for 50 minutes while the barber assigned (by them) to me *plucked some guys eyebrows*. Unbelievable froufrou stuff. Just a shave and a haircut, please. That's my 15¢.

Started coming here as my go to. Good cut, the girls are fun and I enjoy talking to them like people and not the small talk like most barbers. I've found it easy to get a quick appointment and even walked in a couple of times and was served right away. The prices aren't the cheapest in town but I think it's worth it.

Having been dissatisfied with the larger franchise hair salons for quite sometime, I decided to give a local barbershop a go. I read through some reviews specifically looking for comments about beard trimming and came across Upper Cutz Barber Shop. Christy cut my hair and gave my quarantine beard a trim. I honestly can say this was the best haircut experience I have ever had. She took her time and asked all the right questions; I could literally tell that she wanted me to leave happy with the cut. Christy also took the time to briefly explain what she was doing at different steps and why. I left feeling and looking great with a better understanding of what good customer service is. I highly recommend Christy for your hair and beard trimming needs! I will definitely be coming back!

I highly recommend UpperCutz. I’ve been going here exclusively for almost 2 years. Christie does good fades and I’ve always been happy afterwards. She’ll give beard advice and good trims. The hot shaving cream straight edge on the back of the neck is nice too. Reserving online is easier than calling. Use either gmail or facebook (not both) so it’s easy to find your appointments.
