It's called uppercut barbershop cause they uppercut your head with the trimmer. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had!! I would rather go to first choice over this. I felt like the barber I had was just jamming the trimmer into my head and the fade I got was soo uneven!! I tried this place out cause of the high ratings it has!! Please don't be fooled by the ratings like I did!! These guys don't know how to blend in a fade or even give you what you asked for!!

This guys are so unprofessional.first of all they don't listen to you what you want and i had a very bad experience with them when they did cut my back of the neck with razor blade they were not gentle with the equipments. Very bad experience.

I checked this place out just yesterday after reading the many positive reviews online. I was not disappointed and left a very satisfied customer. First impressions: very cool aesthetics and atmosphere! Jonny was polite, professional, and deftly skilled. As someone with thickly, coarse Asian hair, it can be challenging to find someone who knows their way around a pair of clippers well enough to prevent them from catching. Jonny didn't disappoint and gave me probably the best cut I've had since moving to Vancouver Island from the Lower Mainland two years ago. Will definitely be returning!

Before going to Johnny I had a life of haircuts by bus-stop truckers and alcoholics. It was string after string of mediocre Magicuts without the magic, Great Clips without the Great, and First Choice without choice. My head looked like a mangled salad of brown hair and lost dreams. After going to Uppercut Barbershop and Johnny I'm a new man. I can walk into supermarkets proudly, my Facebook statuses get more likes than ever, and my girlfriend is actually a real person now. I highly recommend Uppercut to anyone needing to get a haircut like a real man, or a trim on their man-bun & beard. Much like Zumba instructors, cheap haircuts aren't good and good haircuts aren't cheap. This is worth every penny.

I watched as I’m assuming the apprentice who btw doesn’t speak English cut my sons hair into a faux hawk - not at all like the photo we arrived with. Why on earth did they think my kid should get the apprentice is beyond me?? I told the other guy it was his 1st barber experience so that should have made the more experienced guy want to make this a good experience for my son not a teaching moment. I kept telling the apprentice that my son didn’t want that cut so after some translating by the other barber he cut it into a shorter faux hawk. I kept saying no - they kept translating???? I watched my poor kids face as his hair got shorter and shorter as this guy tried to ‘fix’ it. Another barber finally stepped in and tried to fix it but it was about 2” shorter than my son wanted it and still didn’t look at all like the photo. We stopped this whole thing before my son was totally bald. They did not charge us for the cut - which was the only good thing about our experience here. We won’t be back. We won’t recommend them. We will share our story. My kid cried in the car when we drove home. Thanks Upper Cuts for a horrible experience.

He’s never been hung over or shaky in the hands (unlike many others around), and it was clear from the get-go that he’s passionate about his art. Jonny is open-minded and determined, and this shows through his level of success and steady stream of clients, both new and returning. It’s been two years since Jonny first cut my hair, and while I no longer live close to the shop, I still drive that long hour to get cleaned up by one of the best. Check him out. If anyone is like me, it can take ages to find a trustworthy barber to provide a good cut that gives you that sharp look. First cut and impressions were great! Jonny has over 9 years of experience. I feel a great sense of peace knowing I have one place to hit up when I need to get a cut. The booking system is easy to use, and keeps you accountable to show up. Worth noting, bring cash. I had my hair cut by Shae (spelling) on a Monday afternoon. Shae has good attention to detail and was very thorough with his cut -- even going so far as to ensure my hairline was as precise as possible with a razor -- but he was fairly aggressive with his cut, poking and scraping my scalp with the shaver and comb. There was also some abrasive red marks on the back of my necks hairline from the pressure he used with the razor. Also he likes to smoke and the smell lingered for the entire cut. Perhaps slowing down will reduce the aggression and popping a mint will eliminate the lingering smoke. He also looked tired so a good night's rest might do him some good too. In regards to the establishment, it is small but decent, with an interesting theme of red walls followed by pictures of famous fighters and actors hanging on the walls. The comfortable seating area and free parking was a nice addition too. Note that they only accept cash! This was a big inconvenience for me as I do not carry cash on my person very often. Luckily I was allowed to go to a bank and come back but it was quite a nuisance. $22 for the cut. There's certainly room for improvement. Hopefully Shae reads this review and considers improving his abilities and the business considers incorporating interact visa, MC, or debit. I might return.

The barbers here are very kind and attentive. The price is reasonable and I always come away with a good cut. I've recommended it to several people. They don't care about your gender, they just cut your hair well, always at the same price. There have been a couple times that I haven't gotten exaaaaccctly what I wanted, but that's okay, it's been close, I'm not always the best at explaining, and I sometimes want hair that's a little wacky. First time here, I heard great things about this place. Asked for a bald FADE on the sides and the back, and #2 on the top. Instead of a fade, I got it all straight razored which is not what a fade is. A fade is supposed to blend in with the hair, not make you look completely bald. Then with my beard I wanted it to look clean, but not too short. Instead of asking me, the barber used a 1.5 attachment on part of the beard and asked if it was okay. I wasn’t okay with it but the damage was done. Overall, not very impressed considering the amount of praise they receive. For me, its not warranted at all. Only reason its 2 stars is because the barber was nice, but the execution sucked.

Best barber shop I've ever been too. I come out with a great haircut every time. They pay so much attention to detail, they take a straight razor and trim around all the edges of your hair. If you have to wait for someone to finish, there's 4 comfortable chairs to sit at and a TV in the corner to watch so you can feel very at home until you can get your haircut.

I've never really looked forward to getting haircuts in Kits as it was either bargain basement barbers giving you the 2 minute job or overpaying for expensive hairstylists. Now that Uppercut is here it's a different story. No need to travel to Gastown or East Van for the haircut you're looking for. You can go online and see what times are available and book appointments which is awesome. You won't regret trying this place out (I live over 2000kms away and I still wait til I'm back in Van so I can get my haircut here).

This used to be my go to spot but I won't be going here any more. Usually my cuts are decent and done professionally, but I think the quality here has deteriorated over time (I've been going for 2 years). The barber was distracted during my cut, often pausing to conversate with another barber. He did not follow my instructions and shaved the sides of my head bare when I asked for a fade. I don't often leave bad reviews, but I just thought i was treated quote unprofessionally.
