Just like Floyd's barber shop, but Dave can cut hair! I hear Jonny can too. My husband appreciates the old fashioned simplicity of sitting down to wait his turn - no appointments, no fuss. Dave is so cool that he doesn't even mind the wife (me) coming in to visit as well. If you want to hear the latest scoop on downtown, or maybe learn about farmer's markets and also pick up some lovely locally made soaps, AND get a proper gentleman's haircut, you've found your shop!

Ive been going there for over a year now and havent gotten a bad cut yet. They are inexpensive and very good at what they do, and the atmosphere is very professional yet friendly/fun. Ive tried over half a dozen barbers/hairstylists in nanaimo and in my opinion 'That 50's Barber Shop' is the best.

Worst hair cut ever, didn't get behind the ears for for a skinfade. Came up too high on one side and left patches. My bangs we're all uneven and "F"Ed. I'm pissed because I had to shave my head to fix the embarrassing mess called a hair cut. If I could have posted a shot of the botch job, I would have. I spent 20+ for the and in the end, I could have done at home for free.

After years of hearing about how I had to try this barber, I have to say that he did a fabulous job of cutting my kids hair into a killer mohawk! My hair, on the other hand, was left choppy and uneven, my gf had to go over it afterwards to fix it, and he messed up my beard trim so bad I almost had to shave it off just to get it half decent again. To summarize, great for kids, but if like me you are used to a good barber that does meticulous work, well....

This is a great place for men young or old to get a decent hair cut for a reasonable price. There are plenty of things to look at and talk about if you are waiting in line. This Barber has also done a lot for the community, especially for young students at the beginning of each school year including donations and free hair cuts. I would much rather spend my hard earned money here than at some big name place with a high turn over of staff who don't care for their clientele.

Worst haircut I've ever gotten, and the dude was super douchey too. No music on, no conversation, couldn't do a fade he said, rushed me out of the chair, and when I did try to play my laptop with the movie dead pool on it since there was no music or anybody talking.. He tells me to shut it off like a complete dick. Save your money and buy some damn clippers.

Not only does this place have the feel of an old school barber shop and give great haircuts to match, they also help out the community. Notably the back to school packages (school supplies, clothes, etc.) and haircuts for families who would have a hard time doing so financially their own.

leaving several weeks of cut hair on the floor in front of the chair is dirty. I have been treating myself for lice which I believe I got at that place one week ago. Will not return or go to any barber that is too lazy to sweep up hair after every customer. And my hair was cut poorly in about 4 minutes and did not trim my eyebrows as he did twice before.

Great place, cool atmosphere and Dave does excellent, quick work. I have been exclusive to this place for the last 3 years and I'm always more than happy when I walk out the door. Not too mention he goes above and beyond with giving back to the community. He has never offered to do my eyebrows, nose hair or armpits... and I appreciate that quality in my barber. I save that kind of shenanigans for spa days with the boys after a hard day of splittin firewood. I am excited to hear the rumors that they will be offering discounted Brazilians every Sunday in December in support of the re-re re-release of the David Gogo Christmas album!

A calm, quiet atmosphere, never crowded. Large windows. No TV but quiet music. Minimal scented products in use. Shop is clean. I have been using Dave's shop exclusively for a few years and have never had a problem other than his short hours on Saturday, which are now extended.
