My two kids and I get our hair done at Roots. I use Ashley and she is fantastic. She does a great job and it is always good conversation. She has great ideas and loves what she does. My daughter goes to Jason and loves it every time she gets her hair done. Although my son is the prima donna of the bunch, he pimps himself out to whoever is available and is always happy with the end result so you can't go wrong no matter who you get.

I called to book an appointment for a student priced cut, the put me on with one of their most expensive hairdresser. Charged me 140 for short hair half foil. Did a terrible job. Wouldn't fully refund me feel ripped off. Been going there for over 15 years. My family and I won't be coming back.

I was visiting Courtenay for my daughter's wedding. She made an appointment for me so I could get my hair curled. I wanted to be with her while she was getting her hair done for wedding. We thought we went to good salon. My appointment was with Keith. He is a very accomplished hair dresser and made sure I knew that. He said he couldn't curl my hair because I needed a cut. I explained that I was leaving it for now as I soon am going on another trip and will wear it up in combs. He continued to embarrass me and kept pulling my hair showing me why I needed a cut. I finally said I could just leave. He then said all I'm gonna do is curl it. So he did but it was bad. Charged me 47 dollars. No wash just curling iron and spray. My daughter was almost in tears and I was extremely embarrassed. Not a great start to the wedding day. I went home and fixed my own hair. I know Keith is a great stylist but he needs some customer service lessons.

kris is the only person i'll let cut my hair. if you're a trans guy looking for a haircut Go To Him, i can pretty much just say my dysphoria is bad and he gives me a great cut that makes me feel a lot better. all of the staff are very friendly and you really feel taken care of. the receptionists offer you coffee, tea, or water when you get there. i've also gotten my hair dyed by tana and it was exactly what i wanted.

I always love the cut but my business was clearly not important, nor was my time. I booked an appointment online 10 days in advance. I received a confirmation email and then went into the salon in person a week before hand to ensure my appointment had been booked correctly. I was assured it was. The day of my appointment I received an email asking if I could come in a half hour later because my stylist was running behind. No problem, these things happen. I replied that was fine. I received an email 2 hours before my appointment thanking me, and saying they would see me soon. I turn up to my appointment 5 minutes early to be told that my stylist was too busy, and wouldn't see me. They said they had tried to call me but had the wrong number, and that when I had booked online the appointment was actually already taken and so it was too busy and they couldn't see me. I explained the multiple ways I had confirmed my appointment and even showed them the email they had sent me 2 hours earlier, and they said they were sorry but they had asked the stylist if she could fit me in and she had said no. They said they were sorry but that the best they could do was an appointment 4 days later. I was clearly not an important customer, and will now be finding a stylist who values my business and my time.

Not cool at all. Screwed up my sister's bangs. Ruined her hair. Ruined her self esteem The stylist didn't listen to a word she (my sister) said and just cut it. She asked for her bangs to be cut normally, like bangs that cover your eyebrows. The stylist cut her bangs off way shorter lie an inch above her eyebrows!!! Because that's what the stylist thought would look good!! She (my sister) never asked and was very direct about how she wanted her bangs cut.This women just went snip snip because that's what she thought would look good!!! Listen to the customer for christ's sake!! Walked out, my sister doesn't know what to do now, lots of crying. You could've just listened!! THANKS A LOT!!

Had my hair done by Michael the owner with 20 years experience and it was the worst hair experience i have ever had. the cut was hideous, but the color was even worse. he himself referred to my color turning out as "that wasn't suppose to happen" and that it "looks like a calico cat". lesson learned, don't have your hair cut and dyed by someone who has no hair...

I recently went to Roots to try their new Kerasilk smoothing offering. Keisja, the stylist who treated my hair, was very professional as we went through the process of smoothing my rather voluminous hair. The end result was nothing short of spectacular. My hair has never felt smoother or softer. I will definitely be going back. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff was friendly.

I visit this salon because of Keith. Excellent hair designer. He cuts hair like no one else. I wish he didn't leave Vancouver. I've travelled up to Comox from Vancouver to get my hair done by Keith. Worth the trip because I always get an excellent cut that is wash & wear without too much fuss and suitable to my hair type. Edgy, hip or classic, he can do it all. If you want run of the mill, there are lots of shops that do those styles/services. Roots is a nice salon, great products...i've never had to wait long after I've arrived. Staff are friendly.

had to get my hair and makeup done (I never wear makeup). Courtenay fixed my hair and Ashleigh my makeup. they listened to me, were very gentle, and the results were amazing! Salon also has some jewellery for sale by the counter area. Highly recommend!

My men's cut took was an hour and 15 minutes long. Way too long. The price was ridiculous. $35 is far too much. I've had much better cuts for a much lower price. I will definately not return.

Yooooung chap takes me to the chair in a hurry, throws a cloak over my arm full of my computer and phone to show him photos, I ask him if it's maybe too early to put it on, he says no, then he whips up a brush and starts brushing my hair!!! Long wavy thick hair... I cannot brush my hair dry as it turns to puff! And how would he then get a vision with me of what I want??. I walked out as fast I could.
