Absolutely terrible!!!!! The service was horrendous and the damage done to both of my son's hair was unbelievable!!! I could have done a better job with a bowl and a pair of garden shears!!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! The worst part about the whole experience was calling to speak with a manager about the issues and having her brush me off stating that there was nothing she could do and everyone has a different opinion of what a good haircut looks like!!! Phoned on a Sunday at 11:45, Vida said she could fit me in at 12 exactly. So at 12 noon I walk in and get seated right away. Wash and haircut was quick and exactly how I wanted it. I even forgot my wallet at home and she was more than accommodating to let me run home and get it. Needless to say, I was very impressed and will be definitely be back.

Booked my appointment online and got in right on time. Hair was very overgrown from the last lockdown. I wanted to try something new and that's what I got thanks to Sarah! She was very professional, but fun! I love when the staff actually interact with me and I am not just left sitting there awkwardly the entire haircut. Haircut turned out great: nice texture, layers, versatile so I can change things up! Felt nice to get all that hair off my head, and it was nice that it was such a good experience.

I was really disappointed in the effort that was put in. I got my hair cut and dyed and left so disappointed I went to Walmart to pick up a box dye to fix it straight after leaving. It wasn't as expensive as some alternatives and for just a simple quick cut it is convenient however I would not go back! She also kicked my cat.

Went in just to get daughter's blonde hair toned,nothing else. Took them less than 45 mins. Not only was it patchy but was charged over 100 bucks for it,plus your forced into leaving a tip, so it was well over what it should have been. We didn't realize how horrible it was until we got home. I used to go to my hairdressers in swift current for 20 dollars for them to fix my tone. If that's all you need, go over to Sally's across the parking lot and buy it for less than 20. Won't go back.

I have a fairly simple haircut, and I find that I'm usually happy going to this location. I do find they can leave my hair a bit longer than I ask for, but it always looks good. I chose this place because of the reviews and was really looking forward to a different look. But after the hair cut I didn't see any change in my look, my hair were just shorter and did not feel any different or new. I showed the person what I want and she said that's just styling. This wasn't the first time I cut my hair, I knew what styling looks like and what a different hair cut looks like. Anyway, she was nice and professional with me but the experience really wasn't what I expected.

Started out fine, Manny is very polite and friendly. She trimmed up my hair like I asked, and then told me she was going to clean it up further. I didn't realize that was code for "an additional inch and a half". Not only is my hair wayyy too short, it is also uneven, and not "cleaned up" all the way around. My sideburns are still incredibly long, where as the top of my hair looks like Dwight Shrute. While they were friendly, I will not be returning.

Called to tell this hair dressers that they need to sanitize and do diligence in preventing passing along hair lice. I went to get my hair cut here a couple weeks ago and a couple days after could not stop itching! I got my boyfriend to check and recheck my hair and he only just found the actual lice today. I called but they said being two weeks since my appointment I could have gotten it anywhere, and that they refuse any customers with lice. Well first off, I'm a stay at home mom who spends all my time at home with my only child who has no hair yet. I haven't had any visitors and have not had lice since I was a very young child and have a very ritualistic routine. And secondly - you're telling me you check every bodies head for lice before you cut? No - if you see the lice during a cut you have to finish. Also have heard many bad reviews about first choice not following cleaning protocol with their hair utensils. Very disappointed with the service and how they handled this situation and frankly disgusted. If I could put 0 stars I would and I will never be going there again!!! ????????????

I attempted to have my haircut on a Friday around 1:00pm. I went in and a gentlemen was already having his haircut. The woman working inside looked at me like I was inconveniencing her but came over, told me it would be about 10-15 minutes and took down my info, stating she would call me when I could return. I went to the nearby bank and returned in a few minutes and watched the gentlemen before me leave. Ten minutes later and still no call, okay maybe she is cleaning up or on break. Ten more minutes, an elderly woman enters the salon, leaves about 15 minutes later. Okay, maybe she had an appointment, still no call, another gentlemen enters and starts getting his haircut. I drive away. If you are busy, why not say that? I'll come back later, but to blatantly lie about 15 minutes and have me sit and wait for an hour is just incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. As of the writing of this, almost two hours later, still no call to even say sorry there was a mistake or a mix-up. I will not be back.

Amidst CoVid I was reluctant (as I’m sure many are) to be in a public place for so long. My hair usually takes 4 hours to do because I maybe go 2-3 times a year but all hesitations aside when I arrived. I was greeted so kindly at the door and asked to please wait outside as they are limiting the amount of clients in the salon. I was required to wear a mask, all the staff wore masks as well. Such a lively and friendly atmosphere and for a first time Mom away from my little Daughter for the longest stretch ever, I felt totally safe and had one of the best ME days in a long time. Those ladies are sanatizing everything!! The broom handles once touched, the sink, everything!!! And credit to them because the prices have only increased by Maybe $1 to cover the cost of their PPE, which they all wore. I ALWAYS get amazing service there and the absolute BEST colour and cut. I don’t know how they do it but my colour lasts for months. Highly recommend. Nicky is amazing!!!! All the ladies are. Thank you for giving this new-CoVid scared-Mama a special and FUN afternoon. ❤️❤️❤️

No shortage of competition in inexpensive haircut places along Highland, but FirstChoice is the best I’ve tried. I’ve had 2 stylists reliably now and they’ve been attentive, nice, and don’t rush. I have a pretty standard set of requests, and no problems! They have 1/2 sizes in clippers which is nice.

$18.99 for a buzz cut. When I got home and looked in the mirror I couldn't believe how bad it was. The stylist left uneven hairs sticking out everywhere. Messed up the line around one of my ears so now there's a 1/4 inch part missing. Just 5 minutes with my own clippers made it look a lot better. I don't understand how a professional hairstylist can mess up a buzz cut this badly. I've had much better from barbers for only $10. Way overpriced and lazy haircut that I had to fix myself.

I have been coming here for a while and have hardly been having positive experiences. I went again just recently and that will be the final time I go. All I wanted was a simple trim, and as a result, they left me with very long hairs on the sides of my head that were never cut, and the back is longer on one side than the other. I have to use scissors to try and fix what they did, and this is after spending almost $30. They're happy to take your money, and that means doing a half-hearted job so that you'll leave and they can move onto the next customer. I will not be back.

I just get a simple cut and layering every 6-14 months. I’m in and out in 20 minutes. The staff are friendly [not too chatty; I have social anxiety] and thankfully my hairdresser today wasn’t wearing perfume [the last one I had in December did]. If you are expecting a salon level pampering, I wouldn’t go here. My family and I are simple people and enjoy First Choice. I used to goto a salon downtown and hated it because it was expensive for a simple cut. And I don’t understand why people complain about ‘worst hair cut’. KEEP YOUR BILL! If clearly states that if you are not satisfied, they will cut it again for free! I did this 2 years ago. [Which was hard with my social anxiety but I managed]. And they were polite about it and everything. I highly recommend being vocal about what you want [I actually forgot today to ask for layers until the end so she went back in and did it, turned out great]. If you don’t like your cut, go back in with your bill and have them cut it to your specifications. Try a different hairdresser. Some are great with layering, others are better with buzzcutters.

The cut turned out okayish... I've never seen a hair stylist rely on clippers more that this visit. Changed from a 1 to a 2 to a 3 then back to a 2 then back to a 3 etc. Scissor over comb always gives my style a better look

Had 2 stylists after about 15 min wait. So three folks were finishing and only one lady who turned out to be my aunt's in law was ahead of me by the time i sat down. I got the 3-4" of hair length removed and opted for a braided end as my wet hair didnt require washing and blow drying takes 45 min easy with my hair and after all the colour treatments ive had in December to have a fresh new look for the new year, heat isnt a great idea. I got two dutch braids on the side and they neatly allowed me to ignore hair duties today and possibly tomorrow if im gentle WHILE i sleep. And since my hair was still damp i can flare the braids out and have a nice boho look for brunch tomorrow. If they are too messed up will have the wave...Salon: nice friendly and easy going for a decent rate. I enjoyed my experience. SARAH DID THE CUT and IVE LOST THE NAME OF THE MY BRAIDER! DOH! Well she was great and its a nice change from the 200$ disappointing jobs in fancy salons. Was worth it even though i live elsewhere. My mum will be going back. We are all just tired of paying high rates for mediocrity. I asked for simple braids and 4 inches off; in some places i can just imagine what they would charge me. Recommended.

poor service, rude manager, dirty place I made an appointment at 1 p.m. after I arrived the manager was eating lunch and after 25 minutes she came and said the price for root color was $52 while in another branch located in Stone Rode the price for root color is $42. When I when there the person who was in front. Give my self the person who was in training. I ask the person about previous experiences. She said i have 4 years of experience. But she was in training. I saw her picture for hair style and start cutting. She didn't know was she was doing. She took 1 hour to cut my hair. Even No one ask to that this person is in training to if you don't feel comfortable than someone else can cut your hair. Finally after 1 hour licenses person take over my hair cut and She was great so she tired bring my hair cut on track. But she couldn't. At end my hair cut was massed up. And I was very disappointed. I don't recommend someone should go there and get hair cut with under training person... And "first choice " please ask the customer before you handed them to the under training person. Really Really disappointed ☹️

Went in. Explained that I wanted a pixie cut that I could just mess up and spike, showed pictures of what I was looking for and got a short cut that just does nothing. When I booked I said I wanted it dried and styled and that wasn't done either. Shouldn't have to pay for a cut that is not at all what was wanted. Its super short and just fuzzy. I'm embarrassed to be seen like this. I'm extremely unimpressed. The manager fixed the hair cut thankfully. She textured it and styled it. Much happier now

I had one of the best haircuts in a while. All thanks to a lovely Thai lady who really delivered. I've had the unfortunate experience during some previous haircuts to walk out with a scraggly cut, bits of hair on the face and neck, or too much gel in the hair. Not today! The blending, trimming, blow drying, and gel use was perfect. Kudos to the stylist and keep up the good work!

the haircut i recieved was nice, but the employee i delt with was not. she was very rude, and critical, of the shampoo i choose to use. she inquired, and i only answered because i thought she was making conversation. i realize they're professionals, and care about the health of their clients, but she came off as simply judgemental. i got a lecture, and tons of scolding for not using the more expensive brands that are "hairdresser approved." i was so embarassed. other customers around could hear her talk about how bad my scalp, apparently, looked. likely never returning here.

My husband and I went for haircuts on February 19, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. We were acknowledged immediately upon entering and were told there was a bit of a wait. There were only two hairdressers working and they were busy, so it was totally understandable. When it was our turn and we got our haircuts, they were exactly the way we had asked for them to be done and we were both very pleased. The two ladies working were Roshann and Jen, and they were both very friendly and experienced. We will definitely be back and hope that they are both working again that day. Great job ladies and thanks again for doing such a nice job. Keep up the good work.

We had to wait for an hour or so before getting our haircuts which the staff notified us of that when we checked in. The staff was very friendly and gave us great haircuts. The service was more than what we were expecting to receive from inexpensive chain haircutting shop. We will go back.

Haircut was fine (mine isn't too challenging). Stars removed due to lack of clarity about their promotions being only available at certain stores. They have corporate stores and essentially franchises, but without asking in advance, there is no easy way to tell which type you are at.

Extremely unprofessional service. The stylists name was Mike who cut my hair, before he started he went out for a cigarette and didn't even wash his hands came in and ran his fingers through it, didn't section my hair to cut it properly (I am a stylist and needed a cut as my girl at a different salon was away) I gave him a picture that would be or should be possible to do as my hair was passed my shoulders and I only wanted 2" off. He took 4-5" off, didn't comb or brush my hair properly, didnt blow dry Because he said time I was crucial, my hair was soaked, he has horrible manners toward my son who is 3 snapping at him because he kept getting up and out of a chair. Ignorant to the other stylist working named Kate and To top it all off, he missed a huge section of hair and there were handfuls of hair I could pull out where he didn't brush after he thinned it. Go back to School and learn to cut hair properly, wash your hands after smoke breaks and don't belittle your co workers infront of customers.

Alright, so I was walking around town and went for some food. I saw a hotdog stand and he owner said my hair is very messy and he suggested to go to this location. The next day at approximately 2 pm I rushed into the store and there was nobody waiting for a cut. It looked ducty and and naughty as this bearded freak who saw me immeadietly and quickly put on this muddy Gucci hat trying to flex on me. He said “you need a cut?” And I said yes. He kept going on about how good he is and his training and it was quite annoying to be honest but I didn’t mind as it was just a simple conversation. He cleaned the seat and as I was waiting he was ordering subway with extra ranch and lettuce. That was the only thing on the footling. 8 mins later the food came and he began to munch on it aggressively. He proceeded to touch my head with a hand covered with sauce. It felt good but smelled horrible. I asked him to eat later but he said he’s been working for 7 hours straight cutting big mon hair. I asked for a lineup,cut 1/2 inch from the top and fade the sides. He said that’s easy but 19 mins later I saw my head shining as it was completely bald. I ran away grabbing his subway without pay. Here I am now an egghead writing this review. I want my refund

I have been going here since 2008. I took my 6 year old daughter for a haircut on June 24, 2017 and there were 14 people ahead of us So I left our name and ran some errands. Although it was very busy the staff were very professional, calm and attentive to the clients. My daughter received an excellant cut and the stylist was very patient and kind. The prices here are the most affordable and can't be beat for the high quality of service you receive from the staff. I wish they would open another store in Antigonish.
