Went in for a haircut and beard trim. Haircut was ok, beard trim was bad. I said not to remove any length but just to clean it up and start the shape as I'm still growing it out. Brian didn't seem to listen and went ahead and took length off, then my cheek lines were uneven and the bottom of my beard was on a total slant. How did he not see that everything was uneven? Also, I said that I'm trying to lower my neck line and not to shave any of my neck line off...When I got home and discovered that my cheek lines and bottom of beard were totally uneven (had to fix everything myself) I noticed while fixing everything, that he ALSO shaved my neckline down.... Just ridiculous. Now I don't know if he was having a bad day or perhaps had other things on his mind, but my beard sure wasn't. He also kept smashing into my adams apple with his comb and clippers. My neck was extremely irritated and had bumps all over for a couple days and my throat was sore from him hitting my adams apple over and over again. By the time I left, my back was sweating because of how much discomfort I was in during my sit. I told him I was happy (what's the point of saying I wasn't, it's not like he can put the hair back, may as well avoid an awkward situation) All that for $60!!! And on top of that, I kept reading reviews about how they bring you coffee while waiting and so on, well not only was my appointment late ( I was there 10 minutes early, he was 10 minutes late), but I never received any coffee. Hands down the most expensive terrible barber experience I've ever had. Will NOT be returning. I feel like the majority of the reviews are from people who haven't tried too many different barbers. I usually go to an old school barber shop in the West Shore, the prices are 1/3 of Uomo and I've never had ANY problems with my beard trims from them because they ACTUALLY listen to me when I say "don't remove any length" or "don't touch my neck". If you want to try Uomo, perhaps make sure you get in with the "master barber" Steve. He might do a better job, but go at your own risk...it might just be a painful waste of money.

Great barbershop with an Italian style. They are clean, organized, the staff is friendly and they are taking measures to reduce the exposures risks of this pandemic. They have a fair price and provide good haircuts. However, I had some issues. It was our first time and I showed pictures of reference for my son and me. And for both, we had something different. For my son, it was better than I asked. But for me, I hated it. But it's a process and I would return there.

I've tried damn near every barbershop in Victoria from the overpriced hipster ones to the cheap old school guys who probably should have retired 15 years ago, until finally I arrived upon Steve at Uomo. The first time he cut my hair it was so fast that I thought there was no way he did a good job. But when I looked in the mirror it was possibly the best cut I've ever had which boggled my mind. I soon realized that he is just so highly trained and has been doing it so long, that he is a master of his trade. I was so used to setting up shop in the chair for what felt like an eternity as the barber constantly had to square things up and go back and fix things, that I never realized it was possible for someone to be so skilled that they could probably knock out a top notch cut in their sleep. It's like the difference of watching a home cook vs a professional chef chop vegetables! On top of that his knowledge of hair and products is crazy. I think he even refers to himself as a "hair geek." I have had struggles with oily hair and he taught me to majorly decrease how much I shampoo my hair to restore the natural balance back to my scalp and it totally worked. He is also just an all-around awesome guy to chat with and always has sports going on the TV and espresso & tea at the ready. So as you can probably tell, I highly recommend Uomo to anyone looking for an extremely solid barber that will never disappoint!!

My only complaint is you can not add more stars to this wonderful person and barber. I walked in, solely based on the google reviews. My visit was comfortable, honest and stimulating. He is a master communicator and even a better barber. Add the two up and you have a 1st class establishment that sets itself apart from the other barbers in town. A true artist at his profession with genuine interest in your desired cut. Steve was the only barber I have been to that stopped half way through and asked my thoughts. Most barbers ask after they have cut too much off. Steve cut half way then proceeded after my input. Absolutely perfect, my go to barber for life!

Uomo is not just a place to get an amazing haircut, it truly is an experience going there. From the top-notch staff, who are truly Masters of their craft, to the wonderful and relaxing atmosphere of their modern-chic locale, it is no doubt in my mind the première place for any man's grooming needs in Victoria. I find going there to be a journey for the senses. It starts off with the warm greeting as I enter the door, like a friend they haven't seen in a long while. Next the smell and offer of fine Italian coffee tempts me to indulge just a little. Then getting the front row seat to watch a Master artisan's skill transform my appearance in front of my eyes, is something I am always impressed by. And finally the icy warm tingling on the back of my neck from the aftershave cream they use, tops off the journey. Even after I leave I notice the looks towards my head that I get and I find a heightened sense of self-confidence lasting for days afterwards. I never had a place where I would go loyally to get my haircut, I would just go to wherever was most convenient and so I have gone to my fair share of barbers, salons and hairdressers and in all that time Uomo is the only place that I feel has actually earned my loyalty and now it has it. I have found that the saying you get what you pay for is so true in this world and especially when it comes to haircuts. At Uomo though I really feel you get back way more in value than what it costs in money. I have had my hair cut for $11.95 at First Choice and I was fine with it at the time never knowing what could be. Now that I have experienced Uomo I feel like that $11.95 was wasted because I could have put that towards investing in myself rather than saying to myself 'well at least my hair is shorter'. You don't have to take my word for this at all, go and see for yourself. If you take pride or even want to take pride in your appearance, you really owe it to yourself to go to Uomo and to experience all this first hand.

this place is my idea of the perfect barber shop in the hood. steve baily and his associate are personable pros. it has a comfortable relaxed atmosphere in a great part of town (haultain corners ) . its clearly a popular spot as its always hopping yet it never feels like you are being put through a conveyor belt:) steve sets such a high standard for the shop and it shows. of course the main thing is that they give an awesome cut --and they listen to what you want but also make great suggestions -its nice to see guys leaving with different styles of cuts that look great and are current and suit them . refreshing :)

Having no previous experience with Uomo and sharing a quick email description my situation (never having a "look" change in many years and having grown out my hair and beard so a barber would have something to work with) I received a reply within 24 hours and an appointment shortly thereafter. Steven was receptive to the challenge and after a brief hashing of ideas my look was transformed with a great cut and trim. Steven also recommended some beard oil and hair product which has made it possible for me to easily replicate the result in the morning with limited mirror time. A true professional and executioner of his craft I would recommend Uomo & Steven to anyone. Reasonable pricing and plenty of parking nearby as well.

I dont usually make reviews but i felt i needed to do this one. This guy charges double the price (25 dollars) than other more established barbers in town (13 dollars)so strike number one. I came in with my son and we had an appointment but that didn't seem to matter because when regulars would come in I sat and waited. My son got a really bad haircut from his apprentice (at full price) that had to be fixed by another barber later in the day. So after sitting for 40 mins and seeing my son's bad haircut I decided to get mine cut downtown for half the price and a much friendlier atmosphere. The customer service was awful. And at one point when he could have been cutting my hair he was having a ten minute conversation with the guy who bumped me about how great of a barber he is then he was on the phone for another ten minutes when another regular came in and I got bumped. I would never go back to this shop. I made an appointment. So that's is not a drop in.and regardless of drop in or appointment all clients should get what they pay for and be treated fairly!!!! Are you saying drop in clients don't deserve the same service?!? I said #1 on the sides and #4 on top. Pretty self explanatory cut how much more specific does one need to get? Every other stylist or barber knows what that means. And its you whi isnt being honest. I said "sorry i asked for a #4 on top" so put that in context instead of trying to cover your error. And you are calling me a liar. Nice business model. Good luck with that.

Great results, produced quickly, for a fair price, with extra touches that made the experience a true pleasure. Couldn't ask for much more. I'm happy to say today I have finally found a regular place to get my haircut. I'm always nervous trying a new place, but after following Steve's blogs on the website I was excited to give Uomo a try. Steve was extremely welcoming and the atmosphere is easy going and unpretentious. He took the time to listen to what I wanted and most importantly cut my hair exactly how I asked. After blowdrying it I was asked what I thought. There were some evident longer sections still and I asked to have it evened out. Sadly, this lead to some pretty decent chunks of my hair being cut much shorter than the rest. Bummed!

I've been going to Uomo for years now. I once asked Steve what sort of haircut he thought would look good on me, and he actually told me. I've asked every person who's ever cut my hair this, and he was the only one to answer. I went with it, and it looked great! He also helped me figure out what I was doing wrong in my shaving routine that was aggravating my face. I usually wear a beard, but now when I shave I have no problem with my skin, and I can enjoy my new look. I really can't say enough good stuff about Uomo. Good haircuts, good shaves and grooming, friendly people and atmosphere, and all in a comfortable neighbourhood barber shop setting. Oh, and Steve cut my hair for my wedding; I won't go to anyone else.

What a pleasure to be review number 100! I’ve been going to Uomo barber now for roughly 10 months. Before discovering these guys I had tried nearly all the hip barber shops around town . Every time I was always left feeling irritated, not listened too or simply just ‘ butchered ‘. Finally I somehow landed at uomo and I haven’t looked back since. Stevens a great guy. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in what he does. Most men that keep a groomed beard like myself will tell you after awhile they become quite obsessed with perfection. The stylist that cut my hair for 26 years has retired and I was a little apprehensive about another person cutting my hair. Steve does an awesome job cutting hair. Ever since I discovered this place, I haven't wanted to get my hair cut anywhere else. Steve is incredibly good at what he does. I can always be assured that every time I come in, I'll leave with a great looking cut that will continue to look good as it grows out. I don't need to say much, Steve just gets it. Steve is very friendly and personable, but he also knows when to let his customers relax if they don't feel like chatting. Great place. I highly recommend it.
