I love this shop! My boys and I have been coming here for years. I have one son who is on the spectrum and used to hate haircuts. Through the barbers taking an interest in his interests and talking him through haircuts we are now successfully get through haircuts with ease! I also get my hair cut here, and have never left with out a great cut!! The barbers are amazing and the atmosphere is always positive!

I came here on a Saturday morning, 15 mins after opening thinking I'd beat the wait and I was right. Only 2 barbers both in the middle of cuts, no lines. I walked in, no greeting, no acknowledgement, they didn't even look up. I took a seat not really offended because maybe they're "in the zone." One barber finished the cut, swept up his area, took off his apron and walked past me. No eye contact, no "I'll be right with you I'm going to take a break," NOTHING. Call me old-fashioned but I think you should greet customers and show some basic customer service and kindness. This is an industry that was shut down during the pandemic and has recently been open so you think they'd be more appreciative of someone choosing them as a business. I ended up going down the street about a mile and a half to Jude's barbershop they were warmer, receptive I got an excellent haircut no waiting and proper customer service. I will never go to uncle is again and anybody looking for a haircut I will definitely steer them away from there.

I had a great visit to UncLees Barber shop today. I have usually only gone to the quick cheap places that are a dime a dozen. But I figured I'd try something different. I got a great haircut and it was a all around great experience. Definitely feel like I have been missing out by going to the quick cut shops the last 10 years. Ill be back again and look forward to it.

I took my 4-year-old son to Unclee’s for the first time last week. We made a 9:30am appointment with Sam and when we arrived, there was only 1 barber there (turned out to be Sam) and someone had just sat down in his chair. He didn’t greet us or let us know what was happening… we waited until 10am when he finished and then finally said “sorry, I double booked my 9:30am slot.” As he starts the haircut, he keeps trying to force my son’s head back and the angle is unnatural and hair kept falling into his eyes. Then my son gets panicky because while hair is in his eyes and Sam is forcefully holding his neck back, my son says his neck hurts and starts to cry. Sam loudly sighs, annoyed. I tell him that he can’t force my child’s head back like that—that he needs to be able to sit up straight because it just wasn’t working and something was hurting him. He finishes the haircut, finally, and when my son gets up, I see that the back of his head and neck were all scraped up, with one large scrape at the base of his neck and smaller red welts all in his hairline. I don’t know if it was from the clip on the cape and Sam forcing and holding his head back or if it was from the clippers… but regardless, this shouldn’t happen. We have had haircuts all over and have never had an experience like this. It was just horrible from top to bottom. Sam should clearly not be cutting kid’s hair. Don’t advertise to children if this is the way they are treated.

Cris is great! Very kind, caring and hair specialist! He takes his time and is a perfectionist with your cut. He takes his time and gets everything you want done, and done at the best of his ability everytime. The barbers in the shop are hilarious and amazing at what they do! Great place to get a haircut!

Highly recommend this shop for any parents. I took my 4 year old son and was highly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the balance of community & professionalism and the general friendly nature of all the Barbers. My son entered with a fear of haircuts but left with a fantastic cut & a desire to go back for his next one already! UncLee, himself, took special time to talk my son through the process and made him feel especially included when they picked out a design for his hair. He made the whole process incredibly soothing for my son!

My husband made an appointment for 130, showed up 5 minutes early just to end up waiting until 155 until we left. No one said anything to him or apologized for the wait. When we first walked in they asked if he had an appointment and we said yes for 130. They close at 2 we we just left.

I needed my COVID hermit beard trimmed down so I could come out of hibernation and rejoin society. UncLee knew exactly what I needed and got my beard and ‘stache looking sharp and crisp. Definitely an amazing atmosphere if you enjoy the open conversation of barbershop! Matt there is amazing and I’ve been getting my haircut by him since he started the process. Very professional and always asks what kind of cut you want. I’ve had him so all sorts on my hair and all have been amazing. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new place/barber. They also have a great aesthetic as well with a pool table and arcade machines. Exactly the kind of vibe you want from a barbershop!

One of the worse cuts I've had in a while. When I showed up, they told me the guy who I had an appointment with had just decided to leave for the day so I'd have to wait for someone else. He ignored about half of the instructions I gave and got testy with me when I was asking to try and fix them a bit. Also very much a non-professional setting, which is fine if you like that, but the guys are just blasting music and yelling at each other across the shop about stuff the whole time. Feels like half the time they were paying more attention to the conversation than the haircuts. Not planning on coming back. Edit: Seems I struck a nerve from that childish tirade of a response. Don't get your feelings so hurt over one review, it's not good for your health.

Took my sons for haircuts. There was an activity corner for my youngest while his brother got his haircut. The barbers were all down to earth and created an overall relaxing atmosphere. And both boys came out looking like a million bucks thanks to Matt.

called ahead to ask if they had experience cutting hair for biracial hairstyles. The man (tall white male) who answered said yes and so I set up an appointment. I arrived for my appointment and confirmed with the same man I spoke to on the phone that my hairstyle will not be complicated for them to cut. I wanted a bald fade - There was NO fade. even my dad commented how my hair starkly changed from the top of my head to the side of my head. Very disappointed with this experience since I had asked ahead of time and would’ve preferred a more honest answer if they did not know how to cut my hair style. biracial hairstyles are always different and my hair is extremely curly, I would’ve preferred an honest answer before having a mediocre haircut.

Nice, convenient location. Barbers do a great job and are laid back and friendly. Pretty quite atmosphere but I went first thing in the morning while everyone was still waking up. First time I’ve had a barber ask specific questions about how I wanted my hair cut and styled. Took my two young boys and all our haircuts turned out great. We saw Cris but everyone coming in there was getting great looking cuts.

Atmosphere feels off if you are new and don't know any of them I made an appointment and had to wait for two other people what really upset me is what they did to my best friend the day before his wedding they said his barber he booked weeks ago was not available and gave him some new guy and he had to have another barber redo his hair last minute NOT GOOD for your reputation unvlees. I will never use this place or recommend anyone here again!

I am very picky when it come to getting my hair cut. Before coming here, I would drive almost an hour to Grand Rapids just to get a haircut every 2-3 weeks. UncLee does a good job and definitely will not disappoint. They also have an online booking system, which is extremely helpful.

630 appt, still sitting here at 715. This is common for this place. Whether it be at their old residence at Vine or this location on Main. Apparently they like to overbook. Doctor's aren't even this brazen with people's time. Got no problem paying or tipping for an excellent cut, but I'll never come back since nothing has changed about their punctuality.

I love coming here! I remember the first time I went here, I almost didn't go. But here I am, 6 years later, finally writing my review. Even though Lee has moved the shop from Vine to West Main, it still has an at-home feel and is a very accepting place. And everyone is very professional and the shop is very clean in the whole covid pandemic. I don't let anyone cut my hair besides Lee, and because of that I always have the best haircuts. And at an unbeatable price, you'll be getting your money's worth and then some. Seriously, this will be the best haircut you'll get in all of Southwest Michigan. Next time I'm getting the beard trim too :)
