Just went there for the first time and had Vincent. Walked in and was greeted by everyone with a friendly hello and a handshake from Vincent. The haircut was fantastic with a nice little clean up of the beard. I think I found my new Barbershop.

These guys are the real deal. Having started the man bun trend single handedly and now living with my shame I finally felt it was time for a change. It is a hole in the wall, like all great secrets. I was pleasantly surprised by the classic barbershop atmosphere. Mike was friendly and introduced himself as he prepared to lighten my considerable load. He braided it up for donation and gav’er To be honest. This is the best hair cut I’ve ever had. You should go here. This is what getting your hair cut should be like. It was husy when i went but they were on schedule from my online booking. So go drink some milk or whatever it takes to grow your hair faster so you can visit this follicle fantasy. 100% is my barbershop.

Fantastic appointment only barbershop. I see a lot of people complaining about their walk-in experience at an appointment only barbershop. This happened to me before, I walked in without knowing and I was served a coffee and given the information on how to book my appointment. Though it can seem very frustrating initially, it's actually a good system. I've never had to wait for a haircut and don't have to worry about having my barber stop and go deal with a walk-in customer. It adds to the experience tremendously. The place is overall very peaceful, good 1950s music playing in the background, retreat aesthetic, and professional barbers. The haircuts are done with respect to what you want and cut well. The experience and haircut you leave with is definitely worth 5/5 stars.

This place is seriously the best. I really can't speak PERSONALLY for all of the crew here but I've never seen anybody leave looking less than stellar. I tend to stick with my main man, Dave. I'm quiet and anti-social so I like that he's quiet and the fact he knows how to cut a beard is a plus. ???? Macho environment might rub some people the wrong way but it's all it good fun. If you've any doubts, I happened to be there while a trans boy was getting his first haircut and everyone was all ????????. These people are the real deal!

A samurai of simplicity and integrity, a master of his craft and dedicated to the people who sit in his chair. I tend to book last minute so I go with whoever is available. I'm never disappointed, though. I've probably had my hair cut by at least 6 different barbers across both locations. My hair is pretty simple and other barbers elsewhere will just do the minimum required as if I told them I was in a rush. Here, every barber takes their time and is very particular about the quality of their work. You can find cheaper barbers but here you know you're going to get your money's worth.

How flippin' cute is this place? Too flippin' cute. That's how cute. The place is so old school and cool, has the neatest 40-50's salon vibes, complete with the old school barber chairs and everything. I've been taking my partner there to get his hair cut since we started dating, and each time we go, he's always floored with what a good job they do; and the man is PICKY. The service is really unmatched, they have cool historical books to look through while you wait, coffee, tea, pop, and they sell the products they use themselves as well! My partner cannot get enough of the aftershave they use, it's got that cool old school (say "old school one more time, Kristen, really, say it.) black licorice type smell. Honestly. Such a neat little place to go get your hairs cut, I would truly reccomend this place to literally EVERYONE.

Wow this place is amazing! The staff are so professional and super friendly. We took our 2.5 year old here and he cried the entire time as he is not a fan of getting his haircut, however, the staff were so friendly and smiling and did not let the screams and cries of my son get to them. Some of the best people ever! Additional update: Took my 3 yr old and he is scared of clippers and cries, but the staff were trying everything they possibly could so that he wouldn't cry... The female barber Steph is beyond amazing and was extremely patient with him, in the end he was too scared and cried too much however the staff needs to be recognized how compassionate, professional, caring and simply amazing they are. She only got half of his head done as the crying was too much, she didn't even want any money after spending 30 minutes with him......simply amazing!!! 10 stars if I could. Thanks you Steph!!!!

The barbershop you've been looking for. Nite Owl is a place that prides itself on honed skill and old-school pride. The enthusiasm of every person cutting hair in here is palpable—a tremendous cast of artistically-inked characters who you will actually want to talk to. (IMPORTANT: although aesthetically retro, you can only book your appointment online. There is no phone, and no walk-ins taken.) Music ranges from country to psychobilly. Free coffee is available. "Fresh pot every Friday" is how it was explained to me.

Place seems pretty legit and judging by the reviews it seems like these guys are, but I wasn't all that happy with my cut from Jara. It was my 1st time at this barber shop. Asked for a low fade and showed where I would want the fade to stop and he started the fade there instead, asked for a 0 to 2 on the fade, got 0 to 3 on one side and like a 4 on the other side. Had an uneven line across the right side and the 2 sides did not match at all when it comes to any of it. I pay extreme attention to symmetrical detail. I really don't mean to be harsh, it could have just been an off day but I'm just tired of leaving barber shops unimpressed and spending up to 40 bucks each time. I usually do my own hair but I just don't always have the time. I have had 2 good barbers my life. One in Niagara and one in Calgary I'll be going back again to give another barber a shot. Hopefully I return after that.

This was the best hair cut I've had in at least 4 years. Nite Owl has an old school feel and excellent conversation. We discussed all the best local pizza places which is always best heard from a local. Steph cut my hair taking the perfect amount off which is important with a receding hairline. Steph also shaved my neck which was an excellent finishing touch as it always presents better. Thanks so much guys!

I really didn't think I could look this good until I came to The Nite Owl. Sailor Tony cut my hair and he was extremely attentive to my needs. I gave Tony a photo and while I didn't get it exactly how it was shown, he transformed it and made it his own and I am not disappointed one bit. Keep in mind that the barbers here cut their clients facing away from the mirrors, so you won't get to see the results until the end. Have trust in your barber, because they really do know what they're doing! The other barbers in the shop is equally just as good, so don't hesitate to book with someone else! The haircut was pricey for sure, but absolutely worth every penny (nickels since we don't have pennies anymore). Will most definitely come back again in the future.

I started going to the Nite Owl a year ago and unfortunately have gone elsewhere twice in that time ( I have the tendency to wait until my hair or beard bug and want it cut that day). I have had a hair cut, a beard trim (yesterday) and the whole shootin' match of haircut and shave. The team there is completely professional and really friendly. The service is top notch and they do a great job. Yesterday I told Mike when he was doing my beard trim I was going to be more organized so that I could be sure to get in here. You really have to go in to fully appreciate the difference. You never know, you might even get a little live guitar! (thanks for the performance Adam!)

The place features very retro decor and is as full of character as the barbers themselves. It was Monday and I was thinking it was impossible to find one, but Google provided me with a suggestion for this place nearby and I was super-happy at the end. A great place in Etobicoke for a 50's style haircuts and trims. Their online scheduling system is great! However.... when I first rated this place with 4 stars, I received an email from the manager requesting that my review be changed to 5 stars or removed....Really?!? He states (See attached picture) "...It's *literally* the only non-5 star review we have, so for us it's like getting a bad review. For us it'd be better to have no review at all..." Is this how you treat a customer? Reviews are to be honest, constructive criticism for business. There is always room for improvement, and there are probably things that caused my barber (Simon) to leave this establishment.. Because of all of this, I have decided to take my business elsewhere.

Probably the coolest place to get a shave and a haircut. Also they will offer you free decent coffee or a cold beverage while you wait which is excellent service. I had my first cut at The Nite Owl last week and what an experience it was. Obviously the most important point of this review is the perfect hair cut I received. It is clear that Brian not only knows what he is doing with a pair of scissors but that he loves what he does and takes pride in every cut. Brain's attention to detail is clear from the moment you walk into his authentic Shop (chairs, magazines, stands, etc. etc.) but is even more evident when you look in the mirror upon receiving your cut. I'd highly recommend a trip to The Nite Owl.

My wife is currently going through chemo and had already shaved her head to a 1.5 length but the hair was still falling out so she decided to get a proper shave. Tony got her in his chair and proceeded to prepare her head for the shave and she became emotional (not the best place- an all male barber shop!) but he just gave her a Kleenex (actually a napkin) and went on with it which she very much appreciated. Sometimes you don't need to talk everything out! Tony did an amazing job all round on her shave as well as making her very comfortable! When he took her in the back to pay, he said "this one is on me" and any other shaves required will also be on him!! Being very emotional she started to cry again so she gave him a big hug and thank you! What an amazing man and what an amazing establishment! I know some will say it's just a hair cut (or shave) but for her it was so much more than that and she and I will never forget that kindness! Thank you Tony and thank you Nite Owl.

I came here just for a beard trim. The barbers were very friendly, timely, and had incredible hair and beards which told me a good bit about the barbershop even before I sat in the chair. My barber, Vincent, offered to even shave my head before he got into the beard trim. The whole process took around 30 mins in which I had a few hot towels on my face, various oils and creams, and a very good trim which looked incredible in the following few days. You can book an appointment online and the prices are very reasonable for the level or service and quality you get. If you are not happy with your current barber or would like to get your hair cut by a professional who knows what they are doing, come here. You will not be disappointed.

Went to the Long Branch location on mutliple occasions and always leave feeling like a new person with a great haircut. I’ve booked with Devon, who was an apprentice the first few times I went, and was blown away at his attention to detail and obvious joy for the craft. I’ve also met the owner Brian and he’s about as genuine and humble as they get. The decore is proper old school barber shop meanwhile they are up to date with their online booking system. If you want a proper hair cut the way it was meant to be, look no further. Cheers.

I stumbled upon the Nite Owl in Long Branch by total accident, and have been a repeat customer ever since. The vintage decor, complimentary hot (really hot!) coffee and jammin' tunes are just the beginning of the Nite Owl experience. The barbers here are highly dedicated and take their time to make sure you're walking out the door looking your best. They combine advanced cutting techniques with a wide range of hair products to finish the job. Shop chatter is always funny and light. There are new barbers coming through all the time, but I have had great cuts here no matter who is doing the work. Make sure you book online in advance, and bring cash. Come alone, as waiting area seating is extremely limited. Not for young kids. Rates have been slowly increasing over the last few years, but are not unreasonable for the quality of service. Book yourself in for a full hour cut and hot shave for the total experience.

I have been going to the nite owl since I moved to the area around 2 years ago. The experience and atmosphere here is unlike anywhere else. There is no arrogant or segregated vibe when you walk in. Everyone feels like they belong and the barbers go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Everything from fresh coffee and beverages, to gum and jelly beans for kids. Apart from the environment, the haircuts here and absolutely amazing. Top class barbers with a range of styles. There is also a large selections of pomades to choose from and buy. The owner Brian, is a class act. Highly recommend him to cut hair. As well as Mike. All of them are great though. Cannot say enough good things about this place.

I asked Mike to touch up my beard and blend his lazily blended fade but he told me that his next apt would be coming through the door. NO PRIDE AT WORK. Clock watcher at work. They turn you away from the mirror so you can't see how poorly blended the sides are and how quickly they have cut through your hair missing simple details. Smoke and mirrors with old school vibe attempting to hide a lack of pride and a factory philosophy. Lots or barbers with more pride in the city. I had experience with mike and otehrs in the shops...2 cuts to unwrap a disgusting business practice.

I took my 11yrs old son in there to get his first 'professional' hair cut. I have been hacking his hair cuts for years! WOW, what a great place. My son though a little nervous at first was quickly made to feel welcome and was estactic with his hair cut. He loved it!! Definately be our regular stop going forward. The guys and customers create a great atmosphere of old school barber shop.

I walked into The Nite Owl a couple days ago to get a haircut. I was just passing by the shop, and thought I'd pop in, seeing as I am new to the community. As I walked in, not only was I not greeted, but not even acknowledged. I saw two men in aprons standing there on their phones, and a girl cutting hair in the corner. I asked if anyone was able to take me, and once again, no acknowledgement. I thought there might be the possibility that no one heard me due to the sound of the machine running so I sat down. After about five minutes, one of the lads finally approached me and asked if I was booked in. I replied no, thinking that since no one was cutting hair except the woman, I would be able to get a haircut. I was then rudely informed that "We don't take walk -ins". I sat there puzzled while we looked at each other waiting for the other to say something. Finally I asked "How do I book in then?". At this point, he left into the back of the shop and came out with a comb and said "Here. Have a good day." Not only was I spoken to rudely, but I felt like I was being pushed out. It was clear to me that my money and patronage were not welcomed there. Sad to say, but I will never be setting foot in any of their shops again. All in all, the shop has a very nice 1940's-50's style to it, but the barbers are rude with their language and their lack of respect within a conversation.

If the art of babering was lost I certainly found it at The Nite Owl. From the warm reception when you walk in the door to the last brush of your hair you hope your experience will never end. It's not like the other pretentious ultra hipster places that call themselves a barbershop...these guys are actual barbers and have mastered there technique and profession. If you want a great cut do not think twice book your appointment and you won't regret it.

Deeply impressed and completely satisfied. Took my son in law for a haircut and hot towel shave after a big night celebrating his 30th birthday. Our barber, Vincent, was fantastic and a master with a straight razor. Both of us walked out feeling like a million dollars. The Nite Owl is the genuine article. The service, memorabilia, and aroma of traditional barber products made me feel like I had entered a time machine. The banter, moderated by gifted staff (excellent barbers, raconteurs and all round nice guys), added to the experience. The owner of The Nite Owl should be proud of his staff and prepared for this to become one of Toronto's signature experiences. I'm considering abandoning my "no shave weekends" whenever I'm in T.O. It's that good fellas.

Hands down the best hair cuts I've ever had. I have a weird egg shaped head and I'm going bald making it a pain to cut but these guys put in the extra craft and attention you would seldom find at a barber. I usually go with Mike, Lauren or Vincent but really anyone who you pick will do a fine ass job. The $ may be off putting at first but its worth every penny.

The gentlemen here are clearly well trained in their craft and take their work seriously. It was by far the best haircut I've ever received! Brian took the time to hear what I wanted, made suggestions based on the pattern of how my hair grows and at the end I was shocked at how perfect a job he did; right down to blending my beard into my sideburns and finishing off with a perfect straight blade shaping around my ears and neck; what a pleasure it was. Went in yesterday for a haircut and beard trim. I went from having hair to the bottom toof my shoulder blades short. I described what I was looking for and even showed a picture. I gotta say Kenya gave me the best haircut I ever had. It looks fantastic. I saw the cuts she did before me and they were great too. I highly recommend her. Thanks Kenya!!! Visited for the first time in June 2015. What an amazing throw back to the classic barber shop from the decor, music, vibe and barbers. Great service. Great haircut. Would make the drive again over to this place. Nice to see a resurgence in class barbers that are service quality first and not focused on volume in and out of the chair.

I walked in one day wanted to cut my child’s hair. I was told that they do not cut certain styles there. Keeping in mind my child has fine hair straight. I believe that these people are prejudice and one minded in nice words. They are not treating people equal. Have never seen any other kind in their franchise because they do not accept anything but their own. They told me they don’t do fades !!!

Probably the best hair cut I've ever had. Dan did an amazing job and really took his time. Nothing felt rushed whatsoever. Very much an "Old style" barber shop from the floors to the wood panelling, music, pictures, magazines, everything - and it's amazing. Very affordable for an experience that rivals some of the most expensive shops in town (I've tried a few). Anyone can cut hair and trim a beard but these gentlemen are maestros in their trade. As others have said - cash only so be prepared for that (the store next door has an ATM).

A relaxing environment with tons of interesting historical stuff around. Staff were all quite friendly and professional. I got the straight razor shave and beard trim and let me tell ya...this is easily the freshest my beard has ever looked. It's a little short, but that is simply because the bottom of it hasn't been growing long enough. The Nite Owl DEFINTIELY has a new long term client in me!

I've been visiting Brian the proprietor since his days at the crows nest. Whether it's Brian or one of his barbers cutting hair, the cut quality and experience are top notch. Nite Owl takes barbering seriously and it really shows. They often have journeyman barbers from the US or overseas; always talented and it really speaks to the investment in the craft that the shop promotes. The shop itself is a clean and well preserved operating relic of the authentic shop that has operated for decades. Have a visit for a great cut and welcoming experience. Even got my shoes shined last time during my cut.

He even gives me advice on how to maintain my beard between trims. I came in a couple of weeks ago and I'm usually intimidated and a tad nervous going to a new barbershop but from the moment I stepped in the door, I felt like I found my spot. I've been looking for just your kind of shop: classic, non-pretentious, and welcoming. I've been to many different barbers "shopping around", and never quite found the right vibe until I stumbled upon your establishment. I'm kind of an old soul and I don't really relate to these new hair salons that cater to a younger crowd: blaring hip hop music, and shaving all sorts of quirky designs on the back of some dude's head. I vibe more with the Classic Barbershop motif and you guys bring the old school charm back in spades! A prime example of the old school, classic barber, even down to the decor which feels like getting your hair chopped in a 1940s time capsule. Plus it's one of the few places I can ask for an executive contour and not receive a confused look like I'd just asked in Klingon. Reservations are super easy to make online and the pricing is unbelievable for the quality of cut you'll receive.

VERY expensive. 35 for hair and another 35 for the beard. For that price I would expect only the best barbers that you could find in Toronto. I was very disappointed to only have a metiocre haircut. My barber did not line up the front of my hair, he only tapered the back, neck line and around my ears. I do not recommend.

I have been going to the Nite Owl every three weeks since April 6th this year, I have had cuts from Sailor Tony, Big Dave and this coming Monday Brian is in the rotation! I can't say enough about the quality of the work these lads (and the occasional Lady) do at the Nite Owl. Its simply a case of them being dedicated to their craft in a way you just don't see very often anymore. The atmosphere is welcoming and 100% customer focused, I won't go anywhere else, try the Nite Owl once, you will be hooked. keep doing what your doing boys, the music is excellent as well!
