Hands down, this is the best barber shop I have ever. The biggest drawback can be the wait, but bring a book or phone and take a seat. I am not sure if it is standard, but the day I went EVERY SINGLE PERSON was offered free coffee while waiting-- and not warmed over, office drip coffee. The three barbers know what they are doing. I got in the chair and after answering a few questions, the barber (whose name I have since forgotten) went to work. He took his time; I may have been in the chair 30-40 minutes. However, his cut was flawless! Afterwards, the sale of products wasn't pushed on me at all; he just said "I'm going to use xxx product; would you like to smell; is that okay?" and that was that. I think the cut cost around $35, which seems a little high in this area, but certainly well worth it. If I didn't live hundreds of miles away, I would return again and again. No parking; credit/debit cards accepted.

Saint Lou's is a true Halifax gem. This place is more than great haircuts, it a community hang out. For those that choose to put down their phones, there's lot of great conversation to be had both with Rob and the other lads in the shop. A really comfortable, genuine atmosphere. Cold beers are a major bonus too.

The best men's cut in the city, bar none. Inexpensive ($20), and you can get a phenomenal fade, great every time. Witty banter, great music, and they always remember your name. You can't beat Saint Lou's.

Aside from getting a great haircut, good bunch of guys there. Got a sweet cut from Dexter, and will definitely be back. Location in the historic properties is awesome as well, and got a complimentary coffee while I was waiting from 'Two if by Sea'. What's not to like?

A few folks dislike the no appointments but I love being downtown with a few extra minutes and popping my head in for a quick trim, really flexible that way

I love Saint Lou's, and I have been getting my hair cut here for more than five years. Rob and his crew are personable, experienced, and will give you a great haircut--what more could you need from your barber? Free drip coffee from Grounded is a great perk, as is the great selection of haircare and mustache products kept in stock. The shop gets busy on weekend mornings, but cuts are efficient without feeling rushed. Plan for an hour to get in and out after arrival to be safe (though sitting with a croissant and coffee in the shop is something I'm happy to do on a Saturday morning).
