Desperately needed a haircut after the lockdown was lifted. Clean place all employees wore masks While i waited i was offered a beer in a frosted mug. Bianca was friendly professional and very attentive. Listened to how i like my hair cut and delivered. This is my new barber shop now.

I had a good haircut here the last time I visited. But I didn’t get the full service (I.e. shampoo, and chair massage) like it says on the price board. But....I probably wouldn’t want to get a massage by a male anyhow. But if your not going to get the full service, then you shouldn’t charge full price. *The haircut was on point and would have given a full 5 if this was a traditional barber shop.*

I have been coming to The Huebner/ Churchill location for 2 yrs. I have not traditionally paid for executive service until I decided to walk through these doors. It's pricier than most barbershops but completely worth it. From the warm friendly reception when you walk in, the beverage option for comfort, and attention to detail (hot towel shave, shampoo e.t.c....)to the great stylist they have there. It is definitely exquisite and a premier barbershop to visit. Manny is my personal favorite.

Raving_Cain what can I say the barber has taken a challenge since he met me. Ever since then he has always exceeded my expectations in cutting my hair. I go to him twice a week to keep the people raving about my clean cut look. I have always liked this place. Always professional upscale gentleman atmosphere were you could still have a beer or water before your cut. I typically do water to keep it no carb but, certainly nice to have that option for a texan shiner. Thank you Matador Men's Grooming for keeping it fresh!

Unfortunately, this place looks to be on a downward trajectory. They had some good stylists that appear to have moved on, and the quality of the cut and service has deteriorated. I'm only giving a two because of my prior excellent experience here. However, my recent haircut was very rushed and was extremely sloppy. My wife had to fix it when I got home. For $45 including tip, I expect much better given the competition around town. I abandoned Roosters (Matador's previous name) when this started happening, and I'll now do the same here.

Don’t ever post reviews but thought about how satisfied I was with the service I received that I would go ahead. Definitely deserved. This is the 2nd time I’ve received a hair cut from Jessica at Matador. I have severe PTSD so just going to get a haircut is a major ordeal for me. Jessica understood and shared that she was from a military family and went out of her way to make me feel comfortable, which takes quite a bit effort. Once I was comfortable she provided input on how to make the cut fir my features and went about the cut with precision and really did a great job. Professional, caring, and skilled. I left calm and very pleased with the result. Same experience with the 2nd cut. Customer for life. Note about the rest of the staff. Carol cuts my sons hair and always does a fantastic job and the rest of the staff really does work to make you feel comfortable. Thank you. Martin P

My husband went in today and the haircut was supposed to be 25-30 mins. Instead he was in the chair for an hour and a half. 2 hours total if you count the wait time. They went over the same spot multiple times which irritated his scalp to the point where red splotches were everywhere. He became anxious and overheated in the chair for being in there for so long and it was not a relaxing experience in any means. The only reason they are getting the 2 stars is because his haircut was nice in the end but definitely not an hour and a half nice. Nice lady in the front but she saw me waiting and becoming impatient at the hour mark and did nothing about it. Unfortunately won’t be coming back.

He was extremely attentive and meticulous and provided a haircut that ultimately offered stunning results. I can’t recommend him enough if you’re looking for a nice business cut fade.

Best place to get a haircut by far You get to choose between beer, water, or coffee. They are straight up perfectionist cutting and trimming until you hair looks perfect and they also give you tips on how to style your hair and what to use. Definitely will be coming back

Its pricey no one really offered me water or any refreshments. I felt like my hair cut was not worth what I paid for. They don't even hand you the the hand mirror in order to tell them what you want. I feel like the stylist was just trying to get me out of the chair. I'm disappointed with the service that I got. You do get shampoo, a quick neck massage, and shave on you back neck. I would not come back because the haircut did not live up to the customer satisfaction and the price.

After needing a haircut for a good while I finally decided to go and get one. I walk in to check the prices and immediately notice the nice leather chairs and fancy atmosphere. The prices were a bit more than what I usually paid but I was interested in a different style haircut and the lady up front assured me that they could do anything I wanted. Plus I had just turned 20, and I thought to myself "treat yo self". And so I did. This haircut was divine. Spectacular. Amazing. Really, it was the whole experience. To start off, you get a complimentary beer, water, or coffee while you wait or during your haircut, which is freaking cool. So I'm chillin in the chair getting my haircut, and the lady suggests a different hairstyle and says it would work really well. So I told her "Alright, just make me look fresh and clean, ya know? As long as it looks good". She continues to cut my hair, and once she's done she comes back with a hot towel to put on my neck. Gentlemen, if you have never had a hot towel on your neck, you are missing out. She then massages my neck a little with the towel, it was great. Next, she puts warm shaving cream on my neck and shaves it, all that good stuff. Then she lays me back to wash my hair and comes back with ANOTHER hot towel and wraps it around my face leaving my nose open (because oxygen is nice). In that moment I was nearly in heaven. There I was, laid back with a hot towel on my face and this amazing woman washing my freshly cut hair. I was so happy and content with my decision. After she washed my hair and removed the towel she sat me up and put some aftershave on my neck and massaged it in. Oh. My. Lord. This put a whole new meaning to treat yo self. The aroma of various conditioners, aftershaves, and hair products drifted in the air while Beverly Hills by Weezer played on the radio and my neck was massaged. I was in a small piece of heaven tucked away in a random strip center in northern San Antonio. The whole time I never had one worry about my hair turning out badly. I had complete trust in my hairstylist and she did an amazing job. It was the most stress-free experience of my life and by far the best haircut I have ever received. 10/10, would recommend, and definitely will be back in the future. TREAT YO SELF.

Terrible service! Had an appointment at 5pm, when I arrived they informed me it is cash only, they should have told me when I called to make the appointment. I went to get cash from an ATM and came back 5 minutes later and they were busy attending a walk on, I am a regular customer and they don’t seem to care. I will start going to another grooming place.

Manning cut my hair. About 9 months ago he cut my hair and paid attention to detail and took 50 minutes. This time was quick no more than 20 minutes. After shampoo he wanted my neck up from sink immediately, he said come on help me out. It was a 10 second delay. He didnt provide elements of hair cut that were paid for like hot lather shave because his machine was not turned on had cold shaving cream yet there were other machines he could have used. He wasnt going to shave and he said too he forgot. He also forgot the masaage part. That I paid for. Didnt ask about my beard trim. No eye brows. Minimal attemtion to detail. I asked about his life but he was not much of a converationalist only talking about himself. I expressed being unhappy on the way out and explained why. Cost for 20 minutes was 35.00 and I said not leaving a tip. Usually I leave 10 to 20 for a tip. What is disheartening was that the manager, Carol, observed and I indicated my disappointed. She was cutting hair right next to Manning. Carol's chair was right next to the checkout person and had to overhear my disappointment. She said nothing and didnt look or acknowledge me through anything said. The only one today that was prodessional was the check out person. Today I was not dressed up as in the past and perhaps I was treated definitely. After going to Matador for about 3 years I will never return to any of their locations. And I will tell my 100 person or so network who goes to Matador. Finally, I had another hair cut the same day at a different place. There were many mistakes and I didnt tell them that I just had a hair cut at matador.

BEWARE!! Without a doubt the WORST experience I have ever had in any barber shop. Manny is incredibly unprofessional and a barbar school student could have done a better job! Customer service is non-existent and extreme rudeness seems to be the acceptable demeanor of the employees. A complete rip-off and my advice is to stay far away from these temperamental divas who haven’t a clue how to do their job or treat clientele.

Have had my haircut by both Manny and Sara and I have to say they are both really good! I’m very picky about my hair and they cut me up just right. Sara explained to me the details about my haircut and what the different lengths do to the cut as far as styling etc. I now know there is way more to a cut than I thought and have a whole new respect for barbers.

My husband brought my son in for a haircut, just a clean up of his ears and back, and he came home with a mess. Super choppy, uneven lengths, long strands of hair left, generally a really bad haircut. We called that day, after his hair dried and it became noticeable, and were told a manager would call back. Never heard from them so we called again and still haven’t heard back. Wouldn’t recommend just for the lack of professionalism on the managers end. Edit to add: I did eventually get a refund which I appreciate, but it was requested that I delete my review after, which is shady in my opinion.
