I’ve been going to man cave for 5 years now and I’ve always left with a great haircut. I’ve probably got a trim from everyone who works here at some point but for the past 8 months I started seeing Ghazal for cuts and beard trims. She really takes my cuts to another level so I’d recommend seeing her. She does a great skin fade. I like the fact that you don’t need an appointment, it’s right in yaletown, good music and soccer on the tv screens, good prices and the staff know what the latest hair trends are.

I used to go here religiously as it was convenient to work and where I live. I stopped going as they started charging me for fades which I never used to pay for. Being a person of color I can only really get a fade and didn't feel the need to pay extra for what I used to get included in my cut. It also seemed like they we're aiming to get people in and out the door as quickly as possible and didn't spend much time focusing on a clean cut. I suppose if you need a quick cut it's okay, but will not be returning for my bi-weekly hair cuts.

I can't say enough good things about Man Cave Barber Shop Yaletown location, from the moment you walk in you're welcomed by a polite receptionist, the atmosphere is upbeat and positive, and is very professional. Regardless of the lineup I always go to Oscar to get a skin fade and beard trim as I know he is always consistent at making my hair look the best. I don't trust many barbers with cutting my hair but I know he is always going to give me the haircut that I described to him. Excellent service would highly recommend!

Edit- I emailed the manager after he responded letting me know to email him, never got a response. Hair cuts are good for the most part. However I’ve consistently noticed poor customer service. The barbers are always speaking and laughing to each other in their own language about who knows what... and there is a lack of trying to connect with the client. The most recent time I went in, the guys were making fun of a new receptionist – in their own language – who sounds like she is new to Canada.

I live in Richmond but went downtown to this place. There's nothing pretentious about this place. Just guys doing great work and keeping up a good conversation. My barber was Oscar and he knows what he's doing. This was my first time there and it was obvious that there's a high level of loyalty and connection among the people that walk through the door. The barbers are skilled and they keep people moving. Saturday mornings are busy...be aware.

Me, female coming in with a bob. My time here yesterday started quite off putting without even a greeting from the barber as I approached the chair and sat down (second from the right). As we proceeded, I got the vibe that they were overall just uninterested in cutting my hair. That vibe was difficult to communicate with especially when I came in for a drastic change that I was hoping to get some professional guidance on. I had examples from a single model of what I was looking for but the experience trying to share my vision through that felt dismissive. As I was looking for a salon/barber, I had found an older Instagram post sharing that they get a lot of female clients so I thought man cave would be a good fit for the change I was making. I just felt uneasy with growing anxiousness throughout my whole experience. It was the worst when I noticed my hair being cut further without being consulted on the length I wanted. It started from the back before I noticed and was cut shorter than I wanted, evidently and unnecessarily shorter than what I had showed. Felt like a haphazard job. Lacked communication and to top it off, beelined it to the receptions desk to check out what I would tip. I am unhappy with how I look now but the experience really makes me feel worse about it.

We came to get two haircuts. The price is steep for a dry cut. The twelve minutes we spent there would have been only ten except we had to go back for a touch out on a puff of hair that was missed. There were people waiting so I think some dressers are better than others but we were really not stoked. We might have to go somewhere else to fix it.

Sat in 2nd chair from the right and the barber used plastic guards which resulted in a very poor fade. My fade has very uneven lengths of hair all along where the fade was supposed to done. She cut the top of the hair fine, but would not recommend based on the quality of the fade.

Pretty bad 15 minute haircut, minimal care or interest shown, beard clean up was lopsided, felt like I was being manhandled. I don't doubt these other positive reviews, but this was a terrible first impression.

It doesn’t make me happy to write this review because I’ve had positive experiences here in the past, but the customer service I received when I visited the Man Cave around 1 week ago was so awful I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. This visit actually started out nicely. I waited almost no time for someone to cut my hair, and the haircut was great. During the cut I made the decision that I’d like a shave too - and apparently this is a cardinal sin at the Man Cave. I asked for a shave after the cut was finished, but I guess the man who cut my hair didn’t do shaves so he told me he’d have to hand me off to someone else. I was fine with this and paid ($25 + tip) for my haircut before I was put in another chair for the shave. The man who did my shave really did not like that I had just had my hair cut. He complained to the other man who cut my hair for the duration of the shave, and haggled for a cut (40% I guess) of the haircut money. Mind you, not a single word about this was said to me. If I had known it was such a big deal I would’ve just opted out of the shave, but it was too late at this point. After a very uncomfortable shave, I paid ($35 + tip) with the barber hovering over the till. He even complained about the amount I tipped after all that, I guess this wasn't worth the ~15 minutes of his time it consumed.

AVOID!!! If you read all these 5 stars reviews and think this shop offers the best bang for your $28, then you will be treated like a tourist and get 10-15 mins of an amateur level barber with an attitude. The result felt like I could do a better job myself with a $20 Wahl electric hair clipper set. Moral of the review - every time you think you can save $10 and enjoy the convenience of walk-ins, you do the walk of shame for a month LOL. Please find a barber who charges at least $40 in Vancouver if you care.

Great barbers. Always get someone with good talent. Front desk girl drops the ball a lot. I have called in to see if my preferred barber was in, she confirmed, then I get there to find he’s not in. Or she doesn’t warn when wait times are high. Or doesn’t schedule properly. For example, right now I have been waiting 1hr15min for a specific guy to cut my hair. I was not warned that there was a huge lineup for him. However there wasn’t - there was nobody here. It filled up a few min after I arrived, and now two guys who arrived (walk-ins only) 30 min after me have been helped by my requested cutter before me. Arriving to an 8 chair barber shop with 4 people in the foyer and waiting 1hr30min is unacceptable.

Barbers know what their doing. Great fades. If you want a line up for your beard, they’ll hook you up and have you leaving fresh as well. There’s an additional cost for everything, but you get what you pay for so worth it in my opinion. One downside, if you’re hoping to get some threading done on your eyebrows (I’ve had it done there before and it looked great), I think only one or two of the guys can do it, so some days you can’t get it if their not working. Really like the vibe in general, and the staff are friendly.

I’ve been to many barbershops in Vancouver, and Man Cave has some of the most talented staff members I’ve ever experienced. In particular, I had the chance to get a number of haircuts from Jordan and Oscar, and both have a keen eye for detail and due care that most up and coming barbers don’t usually show. I came for a drop-in, fully expecting a long wait, but Jordan managed to squeeze me into his already busy schedule. Amazing customer service.

This place is essentially a Great Clips that hired a better interior designer. It was cool watching baseball while I got my hair cut, I didn't even notice how bad she did. I'm sure some of the other barbers are good but I got unlucky.
