There are many barber shop in Portland that offer full service, but Heritage is the only one I've been to where they take the time and effort to do a truly fantastic job. Each of the barbers has a real interest in what they do, and create a comfortable relaxing experience to go along with a great cut, trim & shave. Highly recommended. Make sure to make an appointment and block out a full hour however.

This is the barbershop I have been looking for for years in Portland. I can't testify for all the barbers but Brian and Bob are awesome. These guys are very skillful and experienced. They listen carefully to what I want and give me a great cut that I don't have to go home and fix (like most the cuts I've got in town). They are very friendly and the atmosphere is great.

I would have never stumbled into this place but I have followed one of the barbers, Ryan, for some time. And when Ryan, who does excellent cuts, said he had a spot there and how much he enjoys working there, I decided to make the extra drive from Gresham to Heritage Barbershop. When you first walk in, the ambiance is as laid back as well as the barbers in the shop. I would highly recommend anybody who is within a 25 minutes driving radius to give these guys and girls a shot at earning your business :)

I recently moved up to the PDX area and felt lost with no confidence in my hair and beard. Alan was beyond exceptional and helped me find It again. His professional demeanor, up beat attitude, and skill set was something I never expected - in an amazing way. I feel I found my new barber for years to come; the man is additionally skilled with beard Trims and razors. I’m sure other barbers are just as talented; the atmosphere here laid back and up beat. It may look like a hole in the wall, but once you enter the establishment it harks back to a traditional barber shop with complimentary spoils for customers. Music, seats, drinks, and personalities are all exceptional. If you’re new to the area or simply looking for an amazing experience, give them a try! I know they’ve got a positive happy customer for as long as I’m in the PDX area.

I've tried a TON of barbershops in and around Portland looking for beard grooming. Heritage has been excellent. Everyone I've worked with seems to know their stuff and isn't afraid to voice an opinion which I appreciate. Part of what I needed was advice on how to achieve a more groomed look for work. Both shops have a fun vibe. Plenty of relaxed (and optional) conversation going on. Also, the owner is a huge Timbers fan which is bonus points in my book.

Got a great haircut today. I'd had some hair shenanigans going on over the last several months, and Bob took the time to evaluate what U was after and my hair, then did a great job cutting it. My wife really liked the hair cut which is a huge bonus too. The shop ambiance is laid back and comfortable. Definitely a great spot.

I come here for my beard trims. Chelsea is the go to for hair cuts and beard trims. She has a good eye and is pretty straight and will help you if you need some direction on a style. Working in the salon environment, and going to a shop that can accepts walk-ins, I understand that sometimes it’s hard to accommodate a walk-in, so I made sure to call ahead and luckily Jenn had an opening that afternoon. She was awesome, super sweet, and did an AMAZING job on my bf’s hair (after coming in with an awful haircut from somewhere else lol). Very relaxed environment, fun company...next time we’re in town and need a haircut I know exactly where to go!

I always make my appointment with Savannah. She’s professional and knows just how I like my cut, and today’s was perfect. I give her an unqualified five stars. But only three for the shop today. The cutter next to Savannah’s chair had a foul mouth and that makes for an unpleasant, less than family-friendly environment. I’m not a prude. I’m ex-Navy, and I’ve heard and seen it all, but Navy language by staff in a commercially public business is out of line. Clean it up, people.

Heritage is an old fashion, unpretentious barbershop. The Burnside location is conveniently located and has a small parking lot. I was a devoted Rudy's customer for many years. Then when the pandemic hit, Rudy's on Division closed and I don't believe they reopened, so I tried Bishops on 28th, but I didn't like the vibe, specifically the customer service, then I found Heritage. I've had 3 cuts from Liv. First of all she's fabulous, I love our discussions and I get a great hair cut. Oh, and their known for their hot towel neck shaves. Highly recommended.

I took my husband hair for his birthday because he has no idea what to do with his hair and beard and neither do II! Fortunately Clayton did and got him trimmed, shaped, and shaved up. The barber even did his eyebrows! Now hubby is looking and feeling great has he should :-) we even got ideas for his bald spot that should be easy to do. Clayton really knew his stuff :-) I think we'll be going back. Oh, and the complimentary water, coffee, beer, look fall, and whiskey certainly didn't hurt either :-) it's just a really chill, relaxed atmosphere and everyone settles in like it's the place that they've all been going to all their lives.

I’ve always had a hard time finding a barber that understood my hair well, what I actually like and I had some type of friendly connection with. At Heritage, I found all of those bullet points with Jenn. The shop itself is very well maintained and looks wonderful. From the small chats I’ve had with the other barbers, they all seem great as well. However, I have to specifically mention how great Jenn is. From my first cut, she took a lot of time to really ask what I like and didn’t make me feel dumb for not knowing specific barber terms. She was extremely attentive to all of my requests. Not only that, but she’s genuinely super easy to talk to. You can tell she really loves what she does and making fun banter/conversation with her customers. I feel really fortunate to have found Heritage and to have had Jenn cut my hair. I can’t recommend their shop enough and if you’re wondering who to book with, you can’t go wrong with Jenn at all. They have a lifetime customer with me!

Amazing experience! Took a haircut with Rob and didn't regret it! Hair and beard cut/trim, he seemed like he actually cared and told me some tips on some stuff to do for prolonged hair care! Felt like a $200 cut but was $45, definitely worth it if you don't want to go to one of the chains

Made an appointment a few weeks before visiting Portland on my annual Christmas trip and was pleasantly surprised by the cool, laidback atmosphere. I got the full beard service and the barber did everything I asked and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. My girlfriend was impressed as well, which is not easy to do, especially when it comes to my beard. It’s also a block down from Screen Door, which I feel like makes this place a slam dunk if you’re in the market for a great beard trim or haircut. I’ve already added a reminder to my calendar for next year to make another appointment.

Blending and sculpting of the haircut was literally perfect. It is super convenient to make an appointment online, and credit card is accepted in store. There is a small parking lot in front of the shop, and I got a spot to park easily. You will get a few questions when you walk in as precautions for COVID-19. My barber was Jenn, and she was awesome. She basically tailored all my needs of hairstyle to the smallest details. She also observed the direction my hair grew and make sure the way she cut fitted in naturally. She trimmed my sideburns back and forth, just to make sure the length is spot on. This is the cleanest haircut I ever got. I drove more than 10 hours to Portland, and this haircut makes it totally worthy. It's a shame she won't be reading this review because the chance of reading a bad review will ruin her career.

We walked in and immediately felt welcome - loved the atmosphere and how relaxed and friendly everyone was. I think his barber's name was Ryan, the redheaded one, he did a fantastic job on the cut! He was patient and meticulous even though my little guy was a little squirmy. He looks so handsome and grown up. This mama is very pleased and will be coming back.

Moved from Montana recently, and I was looking forward to getting a fresh cut at this stylish place so much that I drove more than 10 miles to get there. Upon arrival I walk in and sit down expecting to wait a few minutes. It was 2 hours before closing time. There were 2 barbers without clients sitting on their phones at their workstations when an older gentleman welcomed me up to the register. I quickly acknowledged to him that I was a walk-in (sign says walk-ins welcome). He looked around and he said "I'm sorry, we just don't have anything for you." I said "So you're telling me there's nobody with open availability to cut my hair?", to which he replied "Yeah sorry man." I left feeling as if I wasn't a valued customer and disrespected at that. In this era, reputations are very important, and I will be happy to share my opinions of Heritage Barbershop, and be happy to take my business of cutting my fast-growing locks somewhere else. The sign on the door said "cash preferred, cards accepted", and the sign on the table said something to the effect that their prices will be going up due to "operational costs". I want the public to know that this place isn't worth your time to build a relationship with a barbershop.

I have to say this place is my favorite barber shop. I have tried 5+ in the Portland area and no matter who I get at this shop the cut is always superior. They have a way of making you comfortable in their shop and treat all their customers well. I think the best part is they teach you how to look after your hair once you leave, which gels to use, how to comb it, dry it, and how often to wash. So not only do you look great leaving you look great up until your next cut.

Went in as a walk in to see about a razor fade. Small shop so there was a little wait but it was well worth it. Kim the manager did mine and she took her time. About thirty minutes but she was super nice and the time honestly flew by. They have free drinks while you wait and a very nice space. Ill be going back for sure. Beat to make an appoint though. This shop seems pretty popular already.

I visited heritage barbershop yesterday for what I thought would be a quick clean up cut. While I understand I have very thick hair with some curl and wave I’ve never dealt with such an inexperienced barber. He barely wet my hair before cutting it in some spots leaving a very uneven looking haircut and generally just took way more off than I had instructed. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but I’m just pretty disappointed currently. the experience wasn’t entirely unpleasant and maybe my expectations and maybe my expectations were too high but I don’t see myself coming back again.

I went to Ryan for a haircut about two years ago and haven't looked back. I gave him a vague idea of what I wanted and he was able to completely revolutionize my hair into what it is today...a masterpiece! When he made the move over to Heritage I followed him there, and the extra 20 min drive is well worth it. The shop itself has a chill vibe with cool people, and free beer!

Bottom line: If you want your money's worth and come out looking like a million bucks, I'd recommend going to Heritage. Their staff knows what they're doing. From the handful of times I've visited (since COVID-19 happened), I always left feeling I got my money's worth. Their talented crew really knows how to cut hair and are abreast with a lot of trends in the hair world--I'm never afraid to ask for their opinion and any tidbits of information to keep my hair looking good. As of COVID, all appointments (even same day one's) must be called-in and scheduled--not a big deal as some might make it. Expect a little bit of wait! Even though you may have scheduled and showed up to your appointment on time, there's a pretty good chance you'll have to wait a bit for the person ahead of you. From my own experience, I usually have to wait 10-15 minutes by the time I arrive. Again, this isn't a big deal to me but I think it's worth mentioning. Good things comes to those who wait.

Not only did he do a great job trimming and shaping my beard, but he also explained every step as he was doing it.
