Amazing work. Mic and Jay are phenomenal. The rating is only representative of the wait time. I would gladly pay $40 every two weeks for a haircut if they did appointments. Outside of the 3 hour waiting time I've had. I do love the place for quality of work :) Edit- Since the appointments have begun my rating has gone up to 4 stars. Works great :)

Great atmosphere and a perfect cut by Kirk. Although I waited over 2 hours, I wrote my name on the sheet, did some errands and came back which worked for me. I noticed some people were waiting in the shop for hours and got pretty angry about this. Appointments would clean this problem up but Henry's seems to be doing just fine! Will be returning in the future.

Because it's one of the more popular barber shops in town, I'd take advantage of their sign-in system. The waiting time is long, definitely around 3+ if there aren't enough people working. That being said, the long wait times and frequency of customers is a good indicator of how popular these guys are. Plus, there are distractions such as the TV, radio music, magazines, and a chess set.

Ok so this isn't a fast food barber shop, some people love it, some people hate it. If you go there with an open mind and patience you'll get a good cut and you might even make a friend. I usually bring some work with me because Jay is always a minimum hour wait. Jay only recently took ownership and he's doing a great job renovating and keeping that old style influence. Shame that there are one star reviews talking about "tattooed thugs" being unprofessional... Find a barber you like and develop a relationship with them, if that's not an option for you head down to first choice and hit up a salon full of women.

Simply the best cut for men in Peterborough and surrounding area. Hands down. I have frequented many barber shops worldwide, from Toronto to Trinidad and back, and can easily say this is the most polished cut, environment and barbers. Reading others' reviews the wait is by far the biggest issue, but I just went in today and they're remedying the situation. Appointments will be available soon! Keep up the great work guys and don't get bogged down by "grammar" and "tattoos". That kind of judgmental hate belongs in someone else's "salon".

If you are looking for authentic and traditional Barber shop you need to go and visit Henry’s Barber shop in Peterborough Ontario. The place take you back to late 1930’s. It’s started by Mr. Henry an immigrant from Germany and continues its tradition till today. The stuff worked there are very pleasant, humble and will give you the best hair cut in your life. My son introduce me to this wonderful Barber shop, I was impressed with their attention to detailed and take their time to give you the best ever hair cut. The atmosphere is just perfect, I have not seen such a shop that mixing tradition and modernity under one roof, while you are there you may see Mr. Henry given hair cut to his client even his at that age.

I have a great experience every time I get my hair cut at Henry’s. They follow the European Barber Apprenticeship Standards to ensure they’re barbers cut to a high standard. The negative reviews on here describe how they show up to Henry’s as early as 2.5 hours before close and the door is locked because they are at full capacity and are already staying late to accommodate the guests waiting. They can’t be held accountable for their influx of customers. A very easy solution to this problem is to call the shop before you leave and see if it is busy or not they will tell you straight up if they can cut your hair or not. Keep up the premium cuts!!

This may be my easiest recommendation yet, I've just had the best cut in my life, the amount of care taken and the end result was astounding. This is going to be my go to Barber shop for sure. I love the traditional ambiance of the place as well. A gentleman named Brett cut my hair, he didn't rush anything and he took his time to make sure I got what I wanted and he clearly knew what he was doing. Will definitely recommend!

4 hour wait with 2 kids in tow! They put their buddies ahead of those on the list numerous times while we were there! When we did get a cut there it was amazing but it's just not worth the time! They really need a take a number system or someone manning the desk, cleaning up, laundry etc It's so poorly run

I was lucky enough to draw Henry himself as my barber. He shared some great stories with me as he gave me an excellent haircut. This was my first barbershop experience and I will be back again. Others have complained extensively about the wait. Personally I only waited about 30 mins. and was in and out in just over an hour. This was around noon on a Thursday. I can see how wait times can get long as this is a very popular joint. Plan accordingly and try to find off peak hours.

Highly disappointed, my husband and I came down from the gta to see about getting a haircut for himself and we went to go in and they had the doors locked before 5 o’clock, there sign says 6 o’clock. We came down for the evening due to this barber shop being so recommended by friends but especially you would think on a Friday night they would be open when people usually work until 4-5 There was no sign on the door and 3 barbers there and nobody waiting. Highly disappointed as we drove from afar and were looking forward to trying this barber shop.

The guy who cut my hair spent half the time talking to the other barbers and didn't listen to me. I came in with long hair, asked for a trim, and specified that I wanted it shortened everywhere by about an inch. He cut the sides and back completely off and gave me some sort of a weird fade. Also had to use an atm and pay those fees, the guy said they don't have a debit machine. I guess he did a good job for what it was, but it was pretty far from what I asked for, and now I have to start over if I want long hair. Bad service all around, I do not recommend.

Went in for a hair cut and had to wait over an hour. Got up to the chair and it was another 5 minutes while the barber talked to a friend, plus multiple few minute breaks while the barber chatted with others. Couldn't watch in the mirror as I was being spun around the whole time. Service was unprofessional, and the shop was filled with hipster gobbeldegook to put in your hair. Haircut was alright, but I've had better at first choice...

Good place for a haircut and they do good work, but be prepared to wait a very long time (often an hour or so) and suffer for the lack of a formal queue. Getting an on-premise ATM was a help; now it only wants for a ticket/queueing system. The recent renovations and change of ownership did away with some of the seedy charm, replacing it with bling, but the atmosphere and work is just as good as its always been.

I've only been here twice, and both times I left very happy with a great haircut. I would come here more often, but they are often busy, and don't rush people through, which means you usually have to wait awhile. Some reviewers seem to get really upset about the wait times, however at this point, it should be well known that this is the reality, and you should set your expectations accordingly.

Henry's is the best barbershop in Peterborough. Super friendly staff when you ask them questions or need help selecting best cut and products. The owner Jay is very knowledgeable and passionate about barbering. Catching Henry on the odd day is awesome. I can't believe that at 80+ he's still in there with the boys chopping it up. That's loyalty! Can't wait for the new appointment system. Zillah is my guy!

Honestly it was nice seeing how much effort the guy put into my haircut. I've never had such a nice clean cut. One of the best places to get a clean fade. Would highly recommend.

Best haircut I have had in my life. 26$ for a men’s cut but it takes close to an hour with the amount of time, skill and precision involved in their work. Monday’s are appt only so if you don’t want to wait then book your spot then because they can be busy during the week if you are looking for a walk in. I assure you it is worth the wait for a cut, friendly and skilled barbers only at this shop.

The “barber” Graham messed my beard up and even missed doing a important part all together. When someone has a beard they put this much time into you don’t just start chopping away at it! You cut my moustache when I didn’t even tell you too when it was clearly long and pointed for a reason, you forgot to point one of my sideburns and left it straight while the other side was blended and pointed, you brought in the sides of my near in way to much. As a “barber” who is charging 50$ you should be asking about each part of the beard that they want not just hack away and assume you know what I want. And then also forgetting like you did is amateur. Don’t do big beards if you don’t know how

Best haircut I have ever had. Longest wait I have ever had. I went during the google rated mid-day lull (12:30) with 5 people ahead of me in the queue, they averaged 3.5 barbers active (lunch breaks etc), and I didn't get my haircut completed until 2:40.

Just got a terrific cut from Graham, I cannot recommend him enough! Since this was my first cut since the re-opening I was little uneasy, but I was thoroughly impressed with how they are respecting all the necessary COVID restrictions: masks required (they'll sell you one if you need), sanitizer available throughout the store (they also sanitize their tools/chairs), and you have to wait outside until they call you in to follow physical distancing measures - all in all it left me feeling far more assured and comfortable. It's appointment only so call in or book through their website! Thanks Graham!

Apparently when you write your name down it means nothing. buddies come first in this barbershop 21/2 hr wait time for a cut is not acceptable I could have drove to Toronto to get cut and still been quicker. I’ll never recommend this place to anyone for a cut

Terrible Customer Service!!I went in for a haircut and put my name down with 12 people ahead of me waiting. 4 hours later and spending $10 bucks on parking, I Finally had to leave and go to work so i asked if i could book an appointment, The Barber gave me a card with the website to book an appointment so I follow his instructions and booked an appointment for Thursday. I once again take time off work and pay another $4 for parking to last the duration of a haircut and once i walk in i talk to Jay (One of the owners) and he tells me there was a glitch in the booking system and i was not supposed to have an appointment. He then tells me i must put my name down and WAIT like everyone else but should not take 4 hours like the other day. I had an appointment and no offer to push me ahead of the people who did not have an appointment. He then told me they lock the door at 5:30. Unbelievable!!! Jay had zero sympathy and could not care that they already wasted 5 hours of my time, money for parking and still have no haircut. I could not put my name down and wait because i booked the appointment during my lunch break and had to go back to work. Jay told me i should have had a text or a warning that my appointment was canceled, i got nothing ... Even if i go online right now it says my appointment is still valid. i attached a screen shot of my appointment.

1st cut was good. Went back twice and both cuts were bad. 2nd cut asked to have my hair half way up my ear. Barber proceeded to cut all the hair around my ear. 3rd cut. Watched the barber spend an hour with hair trimmer taking some guys hair down to the wood. When he finally finished and cut mine, took about 15 minutes and did a complete hack job. Basically if you want to start a bromance and have someone use a trimmer to cut all your hair off your good to go,anything else avoid this place.

Henry’s has terrible customer service. They have no appointments and people sit around and wait 2+ hours for a haircut. Yes, when you finally get your cut, it looks great. But who has time to sit and wait for 2+ hours these days? The barbers know this is happening, yet are too utterly stupid to do anything about it. Has anyone seen Henry’s Barbershop Instagram page? The abundant grammar and spelling errors prove these tattooed barbers are illiterate morons. PREDICTION: A new, trendy barbershop with talented barbers will open in town that actually provides a service that treats their customers with respect. New said barbershop will accommodate all of Henry’s clientele. Henry’s will close. The end.

I'm very unhappy with my haircut. I got some guy in the back right corner, that was too worried about who was coming in and out of the shop than my hair, avoid him! One side is different from the other. There is good barbers there but if someone can't do anything more than a fade, maybe he shouldn't work there. Shout out to Jay and Kirk, they're good.

They sold out in terms of being a classic barber shop. Your typical hair salon but for Men. The wait is terrible, people are rude. The music is r&b, hip hop, and club music even the renovations And product lines have taken that comfortable feeling away, along with the people that go there now. From one of the oldest barber shops around. Only appointments Saturday's, so if your planning on going without one, expect a door locked with people inside, close early very regularly. I used to o there years ago and it was such a friendly and quality experience making you feel in good hands with Henry always keeping an eye. Now it's all these thug looking tattooed barbers with poor social skills. I grew up in a time where going to he barber was a pleasurable experience that made you look forward to your weekly/monthly trim. And after my last few visits, it WILL be my last to Henry's. I really hope Henry's is reading this. Death of mom and pop shops in Peterborough. So sad

So far the only place I've been to that has left me feeling so relaxed that I mistook a stressful Thursday for the weekend - on my first visit. The atmosphere is welcoming with some cool decor and the staff are very polite and friendly. They seem to know when someone would enjoy a conversation vs those who don't and prefer to chill. Outside of that, I got a cut from someone named Nelson which was outstanding! Gave me exactly what I wanted and what would look good on me. Definitely my go to place in Peterborough from now on.

Got my haircut from here twice and was totally impressed by it. But I have also been here 5 times and met a locked door 2 hours to an hour and a half before closing. When you drive from over a half an hour away just to find out that the open Barber Shops doors are closed is kind of disappointing.

The place is too busy, so if you're a walk-in expect to wait up to 2 or 3 hours. The staff work slow, which isn't always a bad thing, but it's because they spend a lot of time talking nonsense to one another. I have only gotten a cut from one guy there, and the fade was less than satisfactory. The beard trim was absolute garbage, and I ended up touching it up extensively at home. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. The only thing nice is the aprons they wear.
