I go to Rays barber shop either monthly or bi weekly for both a hair cut and or a hot towel shave. Ray and all the girls there each bring an excellent atmosphere with them in to work. It's always full of good laughs, stories and above all else, excellent hair cuts. My gonto and something I recommend to literally everyone I've talked to about Rays is their hot towel shave. Rhonda is a wizard with her hands and blades. There's not many people I'd trust with a razer blade to my neck but my god do I enjoy it. Fully and highly recommend for any man or kid out there. 5 star and more if it was possible.

When I moved to Charlottetown and needed a place to get my hair cut, not only did I read glowing reviews of Ray's.. but also all my new coworkers said that was the place I should go as everyone went there - even the colleague who is bald and no longer needs a haircut.. and it's easy to see why! The staff are super friendly and professional with a welcoming family atmosphere and I've been extremely happy with all of my three haircuts since 2019... yes I only get it cut every 6-8 months so when I do go.. I am choosey! Or as one other vellicate reviewer might say fastidious, judicious in my shingling dispensation for an exultant perspicacity. they also give treats.

Rays place is the place to go. Everyone there is amazing and as soon as you walk in the door you're greeted with a smile and kindness. If you ever wonder where you should go for a haircut this is it. I have never felt exigency, let alone to impoverish my time, to scrutinize a locally owned business prior to my last week’s empiricism. I sincerely hope that this occurrence was strictly a "phenomenon." I am writing this review under an anonymous name, and will not be disclosing any detailed information on who is responsible for this rather unfortunate mishap. I strolled into the barbershop, and asked if they take appointments; I was informed that they are a walk-in-only-styled shop. Directly moments after the first admittance, the staff were rather rude and irritable. They continued to show similar behavior for the duration of my visit. Once I sat down in the chair and explained to the haircutter (not gender specified) what I wanted to be done to my hair, they (again, not gender specified) began to graze my hair at a relatively quick rate. I elaborated on how I wanted my hair to be short on the sides but to keep the length on the top. My hair was fully cut in an estimated elapsed time period of ten minutes. When finished, my hair was ridiculously short and uneven on the back and front. I was very disappointed with the quality of the cut, and never fully realized how unsatisfying it was until I reached my vehicle. I do not even comprehend how to begin depicting what the back of my neck resembles. The hair tapers off at a very strange angle, and a gap exists between the two side "angles." I do not want to get into more detail about my hair’s appearance. I would rather say that I believe it is a lack of effort by the employee which led me to write this daunting review. Above all, I have paid $25 for a cut that lasted approximately 10 minutes, and I would advise you not to come here. Sincerely, Anonymous user who visited an anonymous time

Everyone was pleasant, but the haircut was very rushed. The hair rinse was essentially a blast of cold water down my shirt, then a small towel to dry myself off. I then had to apply my own pomade and had to comb my own hair.... In my haste to leave, I accidentally tipped, and I regret it. IF I ever went back, I would insist on Ray himself, but it's not likely that I will return.

So I have been going to Ray’s Place since I was a teenager in the mid 70’s ( yes that does show my age) I left PEI in 1984 and returned in 2014 where I once again frequented Rays Place. I can not count the number of hair cuts I have had at this establishment. And while I have become Follickly Challenged over the years, the attention to detail, the professionalism, the conversations as I sit in the chair have always been first class. I have always felt that I am the only patron in the shop while I am getting my hair cut. And yes there may be some who are not fond of no appointments or the first come first served approach. I am not one of those people and have always felt comfortable getting my hair cut by whichever barber was next in line. So for as long as my Follickly Challenged head will allow and while I live on PEI, Rays Place will be where I will continue to go.

Even if you don't know what you want. These barbers have a good sense of style and will give you a cut that fits your head shape. You'll have a good conversation while getting your cut and you'll get to know the people working there. This is definitely one of those places you go there once and you'll never go anywhere else.
