Want some old school barbering atmosphere while getting your doo chopped and channeled; then this is your kinda place. Jim the owner/operator and his friendly tribe of barbers (a few cousins thrown into the mix) do good work at a fair price. This established shop attracts the old and young, foreigners, domestics and primarily males. The barbers generally listen to clients' wishes then modify them rather subjectively; yet still deliver the goods when it counts. Lots of wall mirrors and hair style photos posted around to allow you to dream you have the same great locks as these perfectly coiffed models. Centrally located on Hastings Street in 'The Heights' shopping area of North Burnaby. Recommended!

Went in and asked to clean up my beard. I specifically said don’t cut it, just clean it up. After i sat down, again I told the young bearded barber in the back not to touch my beard as I was trying to grow it and what does he do....takes the electric razor right to it and kills months of growth right on the spot. I leave with patches in my beard. Im not the type to leave reviews but everyday I look at my face I just angrier. Terrible! I won’t be back. If they can’t clean a beard not sure what they do with hair.

It was my first time getting my haircut at Top Barbers, and I am not happy with the result at all. I specifically asked for a light trim at the top. The lady cutting my hair completely disregarded my request, even after I repeated that I did not wish my hair to be cut too short. She went on to tell me not to worry and that it will look good. She sheared off most of my hair, only using her scissors to make minor touch ups at the end. I usually am pretty low maintenance with my hair, but the cut I got had absolutely no style or layering. If all you want is a buzz cut, then this is the place for you.

Danny does a very good job! Great skin fade , hot shave with what comes across to me as essential oils on the hot towel. Electric face massager on top of the hot towel , these are very nice added touches. They hold your place in line so you can go grab a bite or run errands. You do not have to waste valuable time sitting in the shop waiting if you are busy. The shop has a very refreshing sence of community. I am very pleased.

Got in there and the barber came out of the back room with his buddy, who sat there and watched him cut my hair. They were talking another language unless his buddy wanted to comment on my hair (very awkward). I told the barber I was a student but he proceeded to charge me the full price and gave me awkward change for a tip. Probably the worst haircut i've ever gotten as well. AVOID

Bad attitude and did the opposite of what I asked for. The two other assistants were fine, but Danny in particular had a bad attitude in my interaction with him. He asks for one picture of the haircut I wanted when clearly one was not enough. Proceeds to cut in a completely different style than I expected. He doesn't talk during the haircut, so I ask to make sure to know what he's going to do next and then he angrily tells me to leave feedback at the end. If I leave feedback at the end that would be too late, wouldn't it? After I get him to correct the haircut, he ends up messing it up again, by "cutting lines" on it, which is again not what I asked for and not in my picture. 0/10 experience and won't be coming back here again, at least with the idiot barber Danny.

I am a barber by trade. Old school.Traditional haircut. Fussy. At Top Barbers # 1 chair meets and exceeds my expectations. With very insufficient training in how to cut man's hair ( none exactly at present) it it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a good barber. Not talking about hairstylists. There are a lot of those. Some of them are good, most of them are not when it comes to doing a professional job as a barber. I am lucky to have found one.

I have been to Top Barbers twice. I left my previous barber because I would ask for a certain cut and would end up with another, even though I would stress that I wanted my hair cut a certain way. Not so at Top Barbers, my hair was cut exactly as I wanted, and it happened again on my return visit. I think I have found a new home!
