Though I'm a girl, I went in for a design/hair art on my undercut. The guy took great care of me, and did way more work on it than I expected, especially for the ridiculously cheap $15 price! he blocked out the design with the tip of a buzzer, and then meticulously went in with a straight razor, taking a lot more time and attention to detail than I expected. Very satisfied!

This was my first time visiting this barber as I was in the area so I walked in and sat down for about 10-15 minutes which was normal. I asked for a mid skin fade with electric shaver with about 5.5 guard on the top of my hair. Firstly the fade he did was almost a high skin fade when I asked for a mid skin fade and the fade is uneven where right right side of my head was higher than my left side. Second I have a full beard which I line up myself. I did not ask him to touch the beard as I was gonna do it myself once I got home. As the beard is going up towards my head its getting narrower. The left side he did fine but the right side the narrow part is much lower than the left. Overall if you want a cheap skin fade they do ok. But for special occasions or events I would pay a little more money and know your getting something exactly how you want it.

For a cheap but good fade this is the place to visit. However, the barbers are not very professional when it comes to cutting hair. They just good for a sid part with a fade, buzz cut with sking fade or classic slick back. I've gone to expensive places where they nail the crop tol haircut but here the technique used was not right, which totally ruined my hair. But still I will go to this joint if u want a good and cheap haircut. I would recommend Mike, he is the best when it comes to the fades.

Come here if u want a different fade on both sides. I got a 0-2 fade on one side and then a 0-1 side. Why do you give me a lopsided fade? Don't believe me? Just look at the Instagram cuts. Left and right fades don't match up. They also dont sanitize their equipment. His name is Mike.

Not safe place. I have being there couple of times , Barbers were decent people.However this time is a different experience where one of The Barbers shouted at one of the clients and grab his arm only because the client tried to clean the barber chair where the barber failed to clean it himself.The barber snapped , yelled at the client in an animalistic and physical way which made everybody silent even his colleagues. I'm afraid that this behavior might continue with other people in the community and as I am a local guide I would alarm other people as well.

A very warm environment, with a tightly knit group of skilled barbers. Had excellent experiences with all the barbers, but Steve and Mike stood out the most. Steve is an extremely precise and surprisingly quick barber, and Mike is a very friendly person who cuts a mean low fade. Barbershops with the same amount of talent usually go for $20 plus, and any barbers that sell for less should usually be avoided. They charge fair $16, pound-for-pound the best price around. Sometimes I see myself giving a little extra as a spontaneous expression of thanks. 10/10 would recommend.

I bring my 2 boys here age 3 and 11 every 3 weeks. These guys are great with the kids and the kids are happy with the cuts. The first come first serve system means you may have to wait a few mins but they are fairly efficient and the longest we have had to wait is 20 mins. Bottom line is excellent cuts and great prices.

Came here 3 times to get a haircut. The older guy was really nice and friendly . The second time I came here I was greeted warmly by the black man ( I couldn’t get his name!) . He did an EXCELLENT job. Really put effort in the fade and effort on the top . However the third time I went I was rudely greeted and the Italian dude cut off a chunk of my hair in the back and charged me extra. Haircut was extremely rushed and didn’t meet any of my criteria. The top part he just used his razor and cut it .

IMO the perfect example how every small business should follow. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. Their skills are second to none and will be able to give you what you ask for. I personally think this one of the nicer barber shop I've been to, the overall look and design is clean and modern, but reminds you are in a barber shop not a salon. There are at least 4 barber at any given moments, unfortunately I don't have a specific one I go to =( FYI expect to wait if you do have one. They go the extra mile with the napkin around the neck and vacuum the excess hair etc. Something that stood out for me if their payment system. Basically they take everything for example if you choose to pay with American Express you will have to pay an extra $1 but at least they give you the option unlike other small businesses. Save the $1 by paying cash, which I would never do lol. Tons of parking outside and places to eat if you have to wait.

Guys, I’ve been a loyal customer for years now but unless you get vaccinated, I can’t come as I have family member with respiratory issues. Please, please for your safety and your customers, get the jab. So after receiving a message from management which says there was a misunderstanding (there was not BTW as the barber told me himself he had not been vaccinated even though eligible)… he suggested that all the barbers had been vaccinated. I suggest people ask for themselves if it matters to you and people operating this sort of business think hard about how they communicate this … I know it’s a thorny issue but transparency is always better and then let people decide… no drama, just facts.

This is my new favorite barber. The staff is friendly, professional and highly skilled. Their service is relatively quick and a regular men's haircut is only $16. Amazing find! A must try if you're in need of a cut. It's first come first served, but you can wait for a specific stylist if you want. I've got thick wavy hair and a beard; I've tried most of the stylists there and they've all handled the cut and beard trim well. They do a lot of fades, but not solely, and do well with my old guy style. I've done the $150 cut, Royal Oak always delivers and at a fraction of the price.

It seems like the price has gone up but it's still within an acceptable range for me ($21 for men's cut but paid $22 because I used visa card). The guy who cut my hair was nice, didn't strike up a lot to small talk (which I appreciate) and seemed attentive to my hair. The place seems safe as all staff worse masks and the waiting area was partitioned for one person. The only downside is the price but I still gave 5 stars because if my overall experience.

You're all in one shop for haircuts for men. Very professional establishment run by a great group of guys. I've been going here for the last 4 years. All of the barbers are skilled at their craft. My main barber is Steve and if he's not available I'm more than happy to wait for his brother Marc. For me, it's all about the fade- and they do it so well. Always leaving happy and better looking than when I came in. They sanitize and are up to code with Covid procedures making it a smooth and comfortable cut.

For the price ($16) you get a quality haircut with optional styling, that its comparable to a $65 cut from yaletown or $40 cut from run of the town places. Good friendly run location, they're quick about it too and know what they're doing. My go to barber for the past 2 years

But of a mixed bag here. I've had some excellent haircuts and friendly service at a good price, but conversely, their walk in system isn't regulated at all. I just waited an hour and 30 minutes outside of the shop during a busy Saturday. As their ticket system is an honor system in a sense, it allows for people to skip if tickets aren't checked. Today after waiting for an hour and a half, I watched two people who clearly came after me and pulled tickets get serviced first. When I asked the barber why that was, he seemed confused and seemed to think they'd previously gotten their tickets and come back. That wouldn't be an issue if true. Problem is, I watched them take their tickets after me. After that, I left. This isn't inherently the shops fault, but if they're going to abide by a system that relies on honesty, they need to make sure people aren't cutting lines by taking tickets and lying about their numbers. No one likes to spend that long on a Saturday waiting to get a haircut only to see multiple people skip the line without consequences. I watched a other person before me leave in a seemingly similar frustrated manner. That said, if serviced within a reasonable amount of time, you can usually count on a cheap, good quality cut here. Edit in response to owner: Hi there, unfortunately, no, I'm not misunderstanding the ticket system. I watched the two individuals in question walk in, grab the ticket, and then walk out. One was a man in his 40's in a teal/green beamer. He parked, smoked a cigarette, and then got a ticket (I watched him pull it) then walk out. Later on while waiting he skipped the line in front of me, which is when I inquired with staff inside. I'm quite sure that they did not check his ticket, which is why he skipped the line. I have no reason to lie or leave a false review for an establishment that I've generally only gotten good service and cuts from. I'm not looking to bash your business or anything of the like, just highlight that there could be more diligence in checking tickets to ensure your system functions as intended. It's unfortunate that people took advantage of it, but that's what I saw with 100% certainty. I've been here plenty of times and never had the issue.

The short: - tried once in Jan 2021, and would go back - I liked the haircut quality for its value (~CAD 20) The long: - friendly service - walk-ins allowed - could not see dedicated parking but shop is in a complex with plenty of parking - decent covid measures: staff wore masks, partitions between booths, sanitizer available, small area so might be better to limit occupancy (did not see any signs stating that), no contact tracing

Its pretty good. I dont understand why the $1 surcharge.. seems like tax evasion and due to covid why are you charging your clients a surcharge to use their card? You should be doing your part and accept credit/debit at this time regardless. Im more irrated at this cause I dont know any barbershop who charges a surcharge. Makes me not wanting to come back here. Not everyone carries cash too.

Have been coming here for a cut for years. One of the few places you can go to and have a consistent quality. Steve is my go-to guy, best fades I’ve ever had, but the good thing about this place is if your main guy isn’t there, you don’t need to worry about walking out with a bad cut, as everyone is skilled and experienced. Good value as well. Very chill staff.

I originally started coming to Royal Oak Barber after my old barber retired. It was a short drive from work, and the reviews were good so I gave it a shot. I've since changed jobs and live about a 40 minute drive away, but I still make my way out for the quality haircuts. Special shout out to my barber Mark. Mark is not only a talented barber, but he understands the soft skills that take a barber from good to great. He makes an effort to get to know you as a client. He knows when you're in the mood to talk, or when to keep quiet. He is super open to any requests I might have had with my hair. Although I primarily wait for Mark for my cuts, the other barbers have been (almost) as good as well. They all are a friendly bunch. Note: they don't take reservations, so make sure you give yourself ample time if you're waiting for a specific barber.

Vibrant barber shop, well decorated makes you feel welcome. Both barbers are friendly, talkative if you want, and quick and efficient if you want that. Knowledgeable and skilled, they make an effort to remember you and your style. They are proficient, well located, but priced higher than most places in the neighborhood. I guess the old adage you get what you pay for applies and the place down the street sucks- they have attitude and terrible hours. Here at Royal Oak Barber Shop you can call in an appointment and they will do their best to accommodate you. Reservations recommended, if you walk in off the street returning customers with a slot reserved will go before you, but that seems reasonable to me. Call first!

I've been to many barber shops in my life and this one is by far the best! I've been going here for a year and won't consider anywhere else in the Vancouver area. I've had Arisa, Mike, Mark, and Steve cut my hair, and they're all phenomenal at what they do. My go to barber is definitely Arisa. She listens carefully and cuts exactly what you want and with precision. I also like that she takes her time (doesn't rush any part of the cut) and makes sure all the finer details are taken care of, beard trims included! Thank you!

The barbers Mark, Mike and Steve are professionals seen cutting hair from client-to-client during late afternoon hours till closing. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a new haircut or a different to go regularly. Also, go early if you don't want to wait!

Was in town from GTA to meet with clients and didn't have time to get a cut before I left. Found this place on google and it had good reviews so I tried it. Very friendly shop, place was busy but I didn't wait long, and the young barber that cut me did a great job (Oscar I think), and then they only charged me $12... Left him $15 and walked away happy. Would definitely recommend this place.

Avoid Mike! He did not listen/comprehend any instructions on how to cut my hair. He decided what would look "best" and did his own thing. He is the equivalent to level 1 tech support where he is only capable of reading a script. As soon as I said fade, it triggered the script and he's like "fade, i can do fade" and started cutting. Very uneven cut and poor cutting technique. The shop itself wasn't very clean and the barbers did not seem to be following COVID-19 guidelines. I saw other customers allowed in the chair without masks; I saw one barber rub his disposable gloves with hand sanitizer; and one guy was just spraying some sort of disinfectant into the air. Additionally, I was charged an extra $1 to use the card machine. This is not indicated anywhere in the shop.

Long wait. I brought in multiple pictures of the cut I wanted, all angles shown. Suppose to be a fade but now the back of my head is bald straight upwards. I literally commented that I didn't want any of the bangs cut too short. He told me that this is what he thinks I should have instead of going with the picture...guess I'll be wearing a hat for a couple weeks. *Edit to respond to managers reply* the manager aka you who cut my hair. I specifically told you at the shop. Now since I wrote a review you want to act all nice. Why would I invest and waste more of my time to go-to back to this shop.

Came here expecting a quick and decent haircut...boy was I wrong. Waited 45 mins and finally got a seat. Sat down and got the cover pulled around me. Chunks of the previous persons greasy hair fell on my lap. Ok not off to a start but I'm a very forgiving person and not easily irritated. He apologized and said sorry my friend. While putting the tissue guard on my neck I looked at the counter to glance if the clippers were sanitary...nope still had chunks of the previous persons hair also with flakes of dandruff. He then proceeded to ask how I wanted it cut, I told him and me expecting him not to use those specific clippers because he also had others on the counter. But unfortunately he grabbed that one. This time I didn't sutter to politely ask him to brush it off before beginning to cut my hair. All in all, haircut was decent. He seemed like he wasn't all to focus. You get what you pay for here. I won't be coming back.
