I've always had a great experience here, chill vibe, great people, great talks, and good music. I would recommend coming here, be communicative in what you're looking for and all is good.

This became my go to barbershop the first time I got a cut here. I got my haircut done by Andy, who I could tell really knows what he's doing since he's so quick but still manages to give a great precise fade. The vibe is pretty chill and sometimes the have a cute dog napping around the place. So I keep coming back.

*** POST-LOCK DOWN REVIEW *** First of all, I would like to share my experience in general and then go into a post lock down review, but in short, I would give them a 10 out of 5 stars if i could! I have been going to Justin for well over 5 or 6+ years, I got to say you will be in the best of hands when coming to Shanghai Barbershop. Justin is an amazingly skilled barber and he always does his best when working. I can definitely say the same for the rest of the team at New Shanghai Barber Shop. Everyone is super welcoming and very very friendly. Everything is done in time and with the best possible quality. The place is kept really clean and sanitized, specially the brushes and cutting/shaving equipment. I have never in my long time going there walked out unsatisfied and I can say with confidence, if you try it out you will never want to switch shops! ** Post Lock down ** Even after this whole pandemic, the team has gone through great lengths to make our visits as comfortable as possible, they have put guidelines to keep everyone safe through their visit. Everyone wears masks while working and they keep the place fully sanitized, they have all the chairs spaced out to keep everyone at a safe distance and they do temperature checks for the safety of everyone. They have a full guideline of how they are keeping a safe environment while the pandemic is happening in their website, and I really appreciate that. The team truly care for their customers. All in all, you will definitely be glad you chose this team to care for your hair! :)

Hands down, the best barbers in the city. The shop is bright, spacious, and feels very approachable. I'm usually intimidated to walk into barbershops because of the dark vintage atmospheres, but not here. Staff are friendly and best of all the haircuts are always good and consistent! Did my research and came across New Shanghai that had fantastic reviews so I decided to have a look. First impressions during COVID: wow these guys care about health and safety for sure. As I sat into Andy's chair, he made me feel welcomed and got to know me very quickly. He asked me what I wanted and I explained the skin fade to him with a hard part. Guy performs. Clean fade, clean hard part, and great convo throughout. Attention to detail, and his whole team makes sure that every cut is quality and consistent. Before the Covid-19 pandemic a question I frequently got asked was “Where do you get your haircut?”. My answer with extreme enthusiasm was always “New Shanghai Barbershop”. The cuts there are always 5 star quality, clean and precise. The barbers there are skilled and always improving. Every time I ever referred someone to New Shanghai they came back extremely satisfied. After the restrictions of Covid-19 let up and BC entered there Phase 2 of reopening the economy. I can still proudly recommend New Shanghai. The team there have set up an extremely safe environment. The cuts have seem like they’ve improved if that’s even possible. It’s clean and the proper precautions have been put in place. If you’re looking for a spot to get your haircut. This is it.

When they reopened, they were immediately on top of it. The temperature readings at the door, cleanliness, enforcement of mandatory masks all make you feel at ease. The atmosphere and decor of the shop is great. It seems like every time I return to their barbershop they have a new piece of art on the wall. My current favourite is a Kobe print done by a local artist. All and all I couldn't recommend this barbershop more. I don't live or work especially close to the shop, but it's always worth the extra effort to get my haircut here.

I’m not exaggerating, I’ve tried probably 15 different barber shops in vancouver/Richmond/Burnaby and this place by far has the most consistent and skilled barbers. I can say for sure if my go-to-guy Tony isn’t available, I could get my hair cut by someone else there and be ecstatic about it. The hospitality and genuine vibe they give makes cutting hair something you look forward to every week - unwind, relax and chat while knowing you’ll look like the next James Bond after the visit.

The entire cut was enjoyable, comforting, stress-free and just wholesome in general. Not only is my fade perfect every time but my hair is always cut exactly how I would like it. When I first sat in Justin's chair he took the time to assess my current haircut and asked me what I would like to change and how I plan to style it. As it turned out my hair needed to be a bit longer to achieve the style I was looking for. Sure enough as my hair grew, Justin would make the necessary adjustments to ensure my hair would grow to the exact style I was looking for. I’ve been a client of Tony, Travis and Justin since they worked at JD’s, and I was super proud when they finally opened their own shop. *** POST-LOCK DOWN REVIEW *** I've been seeing Justin at New Shanghai for some time, and have visited the shop since the lockdown was lifted as well. Every time I've been, I've felt valued and found the shop to be extremely professional yet very welcoming at the same time. All the guys there seem to enjoy what they do and are extremely appreciative of their clientele. I haven't gotten a cut from other barbers yet but I can vouch that Justin is exceptional in what he does and he will make your time in the chair well worth it. I can without a doubt recommend the shop and the barbers there and will continue visiting them in the future. Important to note as well, they have definitely done their part in maintaining social distancing within the shop as well. They ensure each client and barber has a mask, is temperature checked prior to entering, has their hands sanitized, and there are clear markings on the floor to indicate distancing measures. Do not hesitate to visit them now, or in the future.

I've been going here for a while now and it has been the best barbershop I have been to. The inside of the shop is super hip and cool, and it is always very clean. Andy is an amazing barber and my fades are always on point. I came in with a bad haircut, and Andy gave very great advice on how to fix it. He knows his stuff and I would definitely recommend going to him.
