Heavy D's energy was booming out of the kitchen - so kind and passionate - he came over and made us an extra special lebanese zatar pizza dish out of the goodness of his heart - on the house!! What an absolutely delightful and delicious experience. I would drive up from Vancouver just for dinner on a Saturday.

Look no further, this is where you wanna go. Unreal location !! right near the beach. This is an extremely authentic barber shop! the real deal! Dan is friendly and highly skilled at his trade, the shop is super clean and has a ton of character, good music and conversation. Went on the search for a barber shop as my beard was getting beyond my skill's comfort level. I needed help. On the recommendation of Jeff at Big City Beards, I booked an appointment with "The first available" through Heavy D's online system. It was really simple to do, even selecting the services I wanted because of the clarity of description. Matt's was the chair I sat in my first time there and I recieved an excellent buzz and trim, with a superb fade between the two. This will be my third time sitting in his chair tomorrow, and from what I have seen I would have been served just as well sitting in Heavy' Ds chair. The banter was lively and well rounded. The prices are, well, you could easily pay more for similar service. Everyone you will deal with here is top-notch, and their goal is two-fold; make you feel comfortable and welcome, and make sure you are happy with the service you have received. Seriously, especially if you are proud of your whiskers, these guys are 5 stars all the way!

Heavy D's Barbershop located 1420 Wingrove St. In Nanaimo. Excellent staff, and even better is their quality of workmanship. They do a great fade. Be sure to book an appointment online with their super easy booking system. They also sell a variety of hair products if you should need some.

Had James cut my hair now for the third time, and he does an amazing job. He is personable, professional and takes pride in his work. It's hard to find a good barber, and James is a great one in the making. I would recommend him for any cut, and from what I've seen from his chair I'd recommend anyone of those guys in there! The shop is clean and the guys there are managing covid regulations exceptionally well. I feel safe and always taken care of. Only thing it needs is an open pit bbq joint next door! I also love the tunes in there!

Great place for a haircut and chat! Dan and his wife are very kind and easy to talk with. I got a tight fade and Dan is very precise and experienced. Haven't tried a shave, but it is a service along with beard trimming.This opened recently, so not always easy to get a time, but it will grow so be patient. Walking distance for me, so even better.

First time I went in for a haircut from the owner, Dan. He is professionally trained, kind, provides input as well as accepts feedback. The haircut was too notch and exactly what I needed at the time. Follow-up haircuts have been with barber Matt. He is friendly, great conversation, as well as providing a give and take discussion on how your hair will work or look given the desired length. Products at, and quality of, the shop are awesome. Heavy D always gives a great haircut and engages in conversation with my 8 year old boy. As most 8 year old boys do, my son tends to have difficulty sitting still but after a quick, polite reminder from Dan they are back to cutting hair and we are happily on our way.

This man is hands down the best barber in Nanaimo. After combing through the city (pun intended) I finally left the barber shop with a glow and a fresh cut. I experienced several different barber shops and salons looking for a good fade and all I was let down by.
