I don't even know where to begin, I had the best experience I have ever had at a hair studio and I personally didn't even get my hair cut!! Okay listen, I have a friend who feels uncomfortable before even walking into a hair salon because of the way people look at her choices in style. After spending two day and being told be 3 different barbers in barrie that they wouldn't touch my friends hair because she was female and to go to a female shop, I finally called "Maverick studio for Men" when I told them what she wanted, they didn't ask for gender, just booked her an appointment for 2:00pm the next day. Reluctantly, my friend got to the appointment and we were pointed in the direction of two people, one standing finishing a (what she thought was ) client and a female hair dresser. We would have to wait till that one was done. My friend looked at me with a little worry in her eyes. (You see girls are usually the one to give her bad looks) Just as I was about to ask her to give the girl a chance, #baberzakk pops out of the chair and says, "Perfect now I am ready to do whatever you need" and turns to look at us. My friends eyes lit up and she was ready to go with no hesitation. (I think when my friend saw how interested he was in keeping himself in tip top shape, she was assured that he would take the same care on her hair) I explained what my friend wanted and Zakk paused, gave a quick look, judged the scalp and said "yah man, I can do that, no problem!!! Hardest part is gonna be the " O ", the " C " and the " D " but if you can hang out, we can get this done." From that moment on Zakk kept us in stitches, laughing at his jokes and getting the whole establishment in on the excitement of something new even for him. The staff was very pleasant from greeting to leaving and I would recommend this baber shop and hair stylist to all my friends now. Look out Mavricks Studio For Men, you will be seeing a lot more of the Thomas Family and our friends. Free word of mouth advertising for the rest of my families life, got a shirt, we will pump this studio for all parents to bring there family members to.

I booked my appointment online, which was a super easy experience. When I got to the shop, I was promptly greeted and had my jacket taken. I was told who my barber would be (Ivan) and then was directed to his chair. Ivan asked how I wanted my hair to be cut and went to work. Ivan gave me a haircut with the most detail and precision I have ever received. He made sure to show the the progress many times and confirmed little things throughout. The straight razor to clean up my neck was a pleasant surprise. Overall this is a very high end barber shop and you can tell they pride themselves on the work that they do. This will now be my go to place for a haircut!

Called to see if they had an appointment available for my son the lady that answered said we can take him now I said ok just heading up there now. Took 10 min to drive up bayfield st once we walked in lady told us that was 10 min ago we can no longer take him. Rude customer service given by her instead of even asking if we would like to book a time or seeing if something else was available she went back to standing at the back of the salon. Would have been nice to be told if I couldn’t make it in the time frame they wanted they wouldn’t be able to do his haircut I wouldn’t have wasted anyone’s time by driving up there. Carlos Barber Shop will get my business from now on called asked the same thing and they gave me the time to get to there place. Whatever reply is forthcoming won’t change my opinion of this place and won’t recommend to my family or friends.

I visited at maverick by yesterday at 12:30 pm by booking an appointment. they are welcoming but When I said I would like to have partition on one side and I would like to also cut my hair precisely from front but they just ruined my experience by saying I have another client on waiting, But what about my haircut? It is not a way to do haircut at all. I understand the service and staff is polite but it does not make any sense if they do not do proper haircut, which is the key thing for what I have been there. After that, they ask me are you happy with haircut? its sound weird to me and I said yes. Please guys you have good saloon and staff, you can perform well by assigning another hairstylist to your client. I can also understand that your another client is as valuable as me but by providing this type of service you may loose your customers. everything is good but please improve on above incident. Aiden is an amazing barber. I got my hair cut a few months ago and told them to do whatever would suit me. Aiden asked if I wanted more feminine or masculine cut and when I said something in between he went with it. I absolutely loved the experience and walked away with a hair cut I loved. I have been a client at this barber shop for the better part of four years and I can say that no other place in Barrie is worth your time. Everyone who I ever saw employed here has not only been kind and sociable, but has far and away given me the best haircuts in Barrie; especially Aiden and Mike. The only reason I had to leave was my move away. However if I visit Barrie in the future, I will be making a stop here for a haircut, regardless if I really even need one. I highly, highly recommend giving this studio a try, they will not disappoint you.

Best experience I’ve ever had at a barber. Everything here is superb, the location, the shop, most of all the staff. This team simply gives a dam, you’re not just another number. Phill, I hope that’s his name, super talented hair dresser, he wouldn’t let me leave till it was perfect. These guys take their skills seriously and it shows. I’ve been all over, paid out my “bum” for haircuts that were “bum”, I never truly had a good experience until tonight. Anyways, I highly recommend you check them out!

Stopped in to make an appointment for just a beard trim, we were told their next appointment was at 2:30pm, it was 1:45, meanwhile there was a barber just sitting in one of the barbers chairs on his cell phone. At any rate we took the appointment and killed time for 45 minutes. We went back 5 minutes prior to our appointment and we were then told it would be another 10-15 minutes, so again we waited. When we finally went back in, and THEN we were told because of the computer, someone had booked an appointment for 2:30, and we got bumped and asked to come back at 3. We said never mind just cancel the appointment. Wouldn’t recommend this place as their customer service sucks...

Boyfriend went in for a cut and they did the worst cut ive ever seen. Sides where buzzed but a bunch of missed long hairs, not even blended with top. Ended up taking him to get his hair fixed somewhere else within 2 hours.

Honestly fantastic experience. I had Matt for my barber and he was pretty great, from the moment I walked in and saw how well-done his own hair was I felt pretty confide t this would go well. I left looking amazing and my time in there was pretty nice too. For my first time trying a barber instead of a salon this was a nice introduction, I wasn't used to having a hot peppermint towel placed on my face while they washed my hair after the cut. Also he used an actual razor blade to cut around my ears and the back of my neck rather than just using the electric clippers, which was nice.

Reviewing on behalf of my BF. Really wish we could give a better reviews. Not once but twice, an appointment had been made, and both times they were not ready for him when he was there. The first time he waited 45 mins to go in for his supposed appointment and the second time, we showed up right at opening and were told to come back for 1030am and they booked him in for his hot shave. We came back about 10 mins before hand ( as we know a little waiting is normal), yet 3 people who did not and were just walk ins got in before him. Again we waited 30 mins past his time and left. I don't know how you can set up an appointment time for a client and then just ignore that and take walk ins before him. Unprofessional and will not be recommending to anyone. Get a better system.

So, have booked online twice in the past and had hair cut with Aiden. Booked online again as soon as they opened up (after Covid restrictions). Received an email conformation for the appointment. Arrived this morning and accessed my email to fill out the Covid screening page - that email had been sent out Tuesday at 10:30am. Found another email had been sent out Tuesday at 5:40 pm indicating my appointment had been rescheduled to Thursday. Pardon? No phone call, just an email to arbitrarily change my scheduled appointment. Oh, and to a different stylist! I guess this is a “you’re lucky we’re privileging you with our services” circumstance. Representative on the phone basically indicated there was nothing that could be done and had no idea what occurred since there isn’t anything in their system showing the appointment time that I’m claiming. I guess I faked my email confirmation. 40 minute drive wasted to attend. Not impressed. A shame, because Aiden does amazing work. Unfortunately, I won’t be risking booking here again only to find out the booking system has glitched. I want to believe it’s a computer error, because if someone did this intentionally, it is the height of ignorance and unprofessional conduct - just unsure how a computer program switches my appointment and the stylist - neat trick. Either way, not saying you won’t get a good cut, but I’m not going back. *UPDATE* After communicating with the shop manager (Aiden) I have accepted his explanation and adjusted my rating above. It would be unfair to leave it as a one-star when he has accepted responsibility for what occurred. As frustrating as the situation was, I believe his position that it was human error and unintentional. My extreme disappointment obviously caused me to be hasty in my decision to “not go back.” I will be returning and will have faith that it not happen again.

Brandy ended up cutting my hair, I asked for a low bald fade and ended up with the Base Borden beginners package.... I felt very uncomfortable the entire time, my hair cut was not done with pride, patience or craftsmanship....

A little disappointed when coming home and noticing my hair was cut higher over one ear, than the other side. Moreover, I was asked if I wanted it tapered or squared off. I asked for it to be squared off. When coming home I noticed in better lighting, that it was in fact, tapered off. While it was a simple buzz cut, I thought these parts would be done evenly and as requested. It kind of looks a little sloppy. My partner is happy with his cut, but might not return as I'm not happy. That'll be his choice!

Had my haircut with Andrew and he did a wonderful job. He did my haircut with a razor which I had never had at a barber shop before which made for a cool experience with a unique finish to the cut. He listened to my styling concerns and jumped through every fiery hoop with the style and grace of a swan/dolphin hybrid animal. Customer service was top notch and the cuts exiting the shop from the other barbers were also beyond reproach. Someone give this guy the key to the city.

Brought my son to this salon twice, told the stylist exactly what I want even showed them a picture and they insist they can achieve it but they cant. They say they can do proper fades but so far twice and they couldn't get it right. When I spoke to the stylist and asked her to try and go shorter she had an attitude and blew me off. I DO NOT recommend this place if your looking for a specific look..there a fancier Magic Cuts.

I was walking through Georgian mall one day a few weeks ago and I happened to notice the shop, I have a 12 year old son with very thick,straight hair that just does not want to do what he wants. He has had some major bad experiences and has a very serious dislike for getting his haircut. So I went in on my own to try and get a feel for the atmosphere. I was greeted by Aiden who took the time to listen to our needs and the anxiety surrounding haircuts for my son. He promised that if I brought him in that he would take good care of him. After a couple failed attempts to get him there, I got my very reluctant son into Aidens chair today. I can honestly say I have never seen anyone treat my son with that kind of care. Checking with my son, doing everything possible to make us feel comfortable. He did an amazing job with his hair (honestly that was secondary to me though). My son has already agreed to go back to Aiden next time and actually seemed happy about it. Sometimes a haircut is not just a haircut and we got much more than that today. I am thrilled with the service! Excellent job! Thank you so much!!

I went in tonight for a haircut and straight razor shave. I've never experienced a straight razor shave before and my girlfriend purchased this for me for an early Valentine's gift. However when I first got there the front counter girl made me pay for it first because she wanted to cash out early. This was at 7 pm. As I was getting my shave done it was hurting and it felt like my hair above my lip was being ripped out. When I made the comment the girl said it was because of my beard. During the whole time all girls were rude and had very inappropriate comments being made to one another. I also noticed they were turning customers away by 8 for just a haircut. Sadly I won't be returning. Especially when I got home and noticed that there were spots that were not shaved on my face. Really not happy

Booked my appointment online and was pleased at how easy it was. When I arrived at the shop they offered to take my jacket and advised me I would have a brief wait. Phil was my barber and he was both personable and professional. We discussed the cut I wanted and he added some input. The work was both meticulous and fast. He showed me his work in the mirror several times to ensure it met my satisfaction. The cut was excellent. I had also booked for a straight razor shave and again the service was professional. The service included hot towels and steam and no shortcuts were taken. The service exceeded my expectations and I will most certainly book again. I would recommend you book an appointment as several walk ins were turned away as they were booked solid. The staff were not rushing to get through the cuts in order to take more but rather keeping the quality high.
