I randomly came across Blakkloud when my usual place closed down. A quick Google search showed that Blakkloud was nearby so in I went - and I'll be forever thankful that the other place closed down as now I won't get my hair cut anywhere else. Kate and her crew are outstanding; personable, fun, and clearly at the top of their game. It was the only time I've ever wished my hair cut took a lot longer than it did!

Iv'e gotten my haircut a few times now by Kate, and I will definitely continue to come back. Kate is very professional, easy to talk to and personable, and gives a great cut. On the latest visit she suggested giving me a straight razor fade on the sides and back, and I am so happy I agreed! It looks and feels great, and she took the time to make sure we were both happy with how it turned out. It's a great price for the service offered, and I would highly recommend for any guys.

I loved my hair cut but the girl could've at least acted like she enjoys her job. She was on her phone while I was sitting with my wet hair for a good 2 minutes...I was ready to walk out. Super disappointed after seeing all the positive reviews.

Kate runs some pretty good shops. The cutting could be slightly higher quality, but overall I think I got a pretty decent hair cut. 4 stars for the price though. A men's cut should be $20, taxes in. That way, I can actually tip the barber directly 10-15 bucks. Ain't no one out here tryna tip on top of a 35 dollar hair cut bill! Hire more seasoned barbers, and for the ones who just started, LOWER THE PRICE! thx.

Propably my new Hair Studio in Banff. I came in as a Walk-In: Got a Hair and Beard done right away and had a great conversation. When I was at home, I realized that I forgot to ask them to shave my pairing. So I went back and the girls did it right away without an extra charging. Customer service at it's best. Super happy with the look of my hair and beard.

Having a barber you can trust almost seems like the same things you consider when looking for a medical doctor, or a lawyer. Coming out the Edmonton area a little under a year ago, I knew I needed to do some heavy research, as I was leaving behind in Ontario, a 10+ year barber/client relationship. Finally after about 3 days of reading over 50 reviews or so, I made a decision ..... that I wish I never made. My faith in style, for the province of Alberta was decipating by the second. Then, I met a lovely lady at "Tommy Guns" which I thought was like "First Choice". Lynette, started to restore my faith. She was used to cutting heads like mine and for a while she kept me pretty eliviated. Fast forward to October and here I am in Lake Louise. I have never been so secluded, that my number one shopping link was Petro Canada. A few weeks in and I am starting to look like the wild animals walking around. Finally, with the off chance my vehicle could break down, I call Blakkloud and speak with Charles. Not proud of it, but I start to grill him a bit. Simply because of one bad experience, Charles unfortunately was on the tail end of my anxiety (sorry charles). I asked Charles about his tenure but did specify I wanted someone who had the years under their belt. From the hop, he was more then honest and genuine in his responses and actually called back to recommend another barber. Charles is what you would call a team player and a straight shooter. His only intentions with my concerns were to resolve them with immediate ease and make sure the business in general could provide me the service regardless of his partake. Charles, and too whomever is reading this, I was wrong. Charles is simply a breath of fresh air. If I could recreate the definition of Genuiness in the dictionary it would just say Charles. I walked out of that chair feeling not only like a million bucks, but Elon Musks balance in his savings account. Faith, completely restored. This man, exlemplifies what every business should look for in their employees, not just the barbershop. Charles, really made a massive difference in my perspective, and as someone who has been to the same barber for over ten years, Charles made the first experience feel no different then my last one with Jay (Barber back in Ontario) From the bottom of my heart Charles and Blakkloud, thank you. ps* senior barbers, Charles is coming with that heat definitely coming back, and will reccomend to anymore I know!

I recently visited Banff with my mother and we stayed at the Brewster's Mountain Lodge. This salon is located just off their lobby and we were provided with a 15% discount for being guests of the hotel. My mom had been needing her hair cut and mentioned it would be fun to get it cut during our trip so we popped into Blackkloud. At first my mom was nervous to let someone she wasn't familiar with cut her hair but after chatting with Fred she felt better and decided to go for it! Fred took my mom as a walk-in and she was very sweet and professional. She did a wonderful job on my moms hair and the entire experience was great! My mom was very happy with her hair and we would go back to see Fred if we are even in Banff. Thank you for making my moms day!

I went in for a balayage coloring with Naush and am so so happy I did! If you are looking for blonde in the bow valley this is your girl. So disappointed! I went here yesterday ago to get a trim. Nothing special, even brought pictures of my last haircut as reference. I hate to say this, but I'm not happy at all! Katie, the stylist, was done within 15 minutes (including a quick wash, so really didn't take much time at all), cut way too short and just very unevenly altogether. I don't see any use in asking me how happy I am about the length afterwards, when there's no way to put my hair back on. Of course, I don't know about the other stylists, but from my experience, wouldn't recommend.

Asked for grey-blonde. I was very clear I didn't want any yellow. My hair is the opposite of what I asked for and the hairdresser was extremely rude and yelled at me to leave when I almost cried because of how yellow my hair is. Do not recommend. *Editing because it won't let me reply. The owner was not present, so that is a very inaccurate version of events. The hairdresser failed to explain it would not be possible prior and once she realized she couldn't do what I'd asked for, kept trying to accuse me of having color in my hair, which I knew for a fact, I did not. She did snap and yell at me for being upset with the results. The entire situation was handled extremely poorly. Accusing me of tormenting the staff couldn't be further from the truth, but it's obviously easier to blame me than to speak with your staff to avoid future incidents like this, isn't it?

Earlier today I had the opportunity to stop in @blakkloud and meet Kate for a haircut and shave. Her newly renovated storefront in downtown Banff caught my eye, but her awesome energy and personality made this a real experience and not just a typical walk-in. I should also mention, Kate owns a barber shop in Canmore named "Prohibition" that sounds amazing too (bourbon and a cutt? Need I say more?). The cut and colour were exactly what I wanted. Textured bob and blonde colouring, light on the ends. Kate Walsh did my hair and it looks fantastic! She really did a great job, better than what I was expecting. I am a local of 5 years now and only go to Blackloud and she is my stylist. After moving to Canada i was searching for a new hairdresser and i found Welsh Kate while she was still working in Canmore. I followed her when she returned to work in Banff and haven't looked back. Now that i live in Airdrie i still travel out to Banff to get my hair done by Welsh Kate. Kate is extremely accommodating to my schedule - offering to stay late or come in early. I started of with Kate in the beginning of 2018 with bright red hair, now i have moved on to a brown and who knows what my next appointment will bring.
