Been going to John's for over 16 years and never had a bad cut. They are always friendly and courteous. Can occasionally get busy during weekend mornings, however the wait is never outlandish. Prices are reasonable and I always end up tipping generously for the overall experience. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a place to try out!

For years I've went through dozens and dozens of different barbers and hair dressers trying to find someone that didn't charge my wallet until tears of misery rolled down my cheeks and still did an excellent job. I will not lie, I am VERY picky with haircuts (and I do not trust myself with anything that is sharp, including electric razors even if it is hard to screw up with). I, Mihai, after 14 years of going to different barber shops, have found my messiah. My savior by the name of "Mitch" charges me only 18$ (which I always give him a tip on, which he very humbly accepts) and cuts my hair to perfection. Not once have I ever left his domain disappointed. He's also always up for a nice chat, provides good feedback, has tons of knowledge that he shares willingly and works there 6 days a week. The shop has other barbers too but I believe in loyalty. Mitch has been cutting my hair for the past 4 and a half years and I'm never going back to a service of lesser quality as I have experienced, here, the quintessence of hair cutting. I do not know about the proficiency of the other barbers. I can only vouch for Mitch's but the majority seem quite competent and friendly.

Went in for a beard trim. Old man was very rough with clippers. Very painful pulling my beard. Left half of my neck unclipped. Destroyed my beautiful beard that took years to grow. Never again.

Used to go to this shop for my haircut. After a while of not going to this one, I thought might as well give it a go. just wanted a fade on a side and cut just a tiny bit up top. Don't know why the barber, watered my hair before clipping the sides. Barely cut my side and did not touch my back hair at all. He also cut the massive amount on my top hair. Did not wanted to say anything so I don't cause a commotion, but man this used to be a good barber shop...

I can say that the environment is friendly, and they are nice people. the regular haircut was good. I was looking for a beard trim; however, the barber cut my mustache without asking whether I want them short or not. it made me terrible with a 2mm mustache with a 12 cm-long beard! I was even terrified to look at myself as I looked like the ISIS fighters! when I came home, I had to cut two-third of my beard to make it look better. I had to cancel my visit to Toronto and stay home until my mustache grows again. you can try them for a haircut, but I do not recommend them for a beard trim. Those who have a beard know how long it takes to grow a beard and how painful it is to lose it in a minute. If you watch YouTube videos on how to trim your beard and do it yourself, you will have a better outcome.

Went in for a haircut and sat with the first available barber which was Nathalie. There were other people waiting but they let me go ahead of them. I described what i wanted and we agreed on a cut similar to one of the photos on the wall. After about 10 minutes, thinking shes still working on it, she asks me if its ok and I tell her i wanted it shorter, as it wasnt even close to what we discussed. She became very rude and told me i should have told her before and that now she has to do the equivalent of 2 cuts. I was really surprised and disappointed by her deplorable attitude. The cut turned out just okay in the end but the awkwardness left a bad impression, and being made to feel like I'm wasting someone's time is not why i go to a professional barber. Very unpleasant experience overall. Have been there several times but will not be returning.

I won't return based on cleanliness. The floor was not swept before my hair was cut, scissors and many clippers were covered in hair/not cleaned from past cuts. nope, not for me.

I got a hair cut recently from this establishment, since my regular barber was on vacation. I thought I would give this place a try based on the reviews...I think when providing reviews we should mention who we went with otherwise people can assume the comments are applied to all. Therefore I will not to do the same as it's misleading. I just went with the next person available who happened to be the older gentlemen with the white hair. I just asked for a trim, and he basically left 1/2" on the top of my head, although the back of the head was done nice. I basically can only comb my hair down or to the side now. His hands are very shaky. He seems like he could have been a pro back in the day, when one hair cut fit all.. Good thing is, the hair will grow back. If I do go back, which is unlikely it would be with someone else.

I have had many great experiences at this barber shop, however I did have one very negative experience recently with one of the barbers. It was an elderly man, I’m not sure of what his name is, considering he hardly said a word when cutting my hair. Besides the fact that he didn’t say much, he did not listen at all to what I wanted. I really like the shop, and the other barbers, but the cut was bad enough that I am considering not returning to johns barber shop.

I am apart of the staff at Johns barber shop and to correct Sikandar Singh....there are no men that work at this shop!.. So he obviously hasn't visited our shop and we only charge $14 for a men's hair cut, not expensive at all! And Jo-Ann DeLuca I'm so sorry to hear about your experience at our shop, it was probably just a misunderstanding! We get very busy and need to pay attention to the customers in our chair...also when there's 3 people ahead of you and you waited 20 mins that's not bad considering it takes 20 mins to do a haircut...and we only do walk ins....also I'm pretty sure we were also training a new girl at that time...

Went in to make an appointment. I was totally ignored while standing by the front cash. A guy working in his Adidas sweat pants walked by me twice starring several times and did not acknowledge me. 2 ladies hairstylist also ignored me. I stood there waiting for someone to offer their service. No one, absolutely no one acknowledged me. I finally walked out of the store and left. Went to my car and saw the guy in his sweat pans walking out of the store to go sit on the bench snd get on his phone. What a place!

Pros: Fast, friendly and affordable. I’ve had some great cuts here. Cons: it’s really the luck of the draw, although most of the veteran staff is more than capable some are terrible so it’s advisable to give yourself enough time to wait for who you want. I’ve had 2 nightmare experiences here, once a simple haircut took nearly an hour and the other time I had a bloody line carved into my part by someone who appeared to be half asleep or drunk.

Yes, you may have to wait here. However, there is a good reason for it. They take their time to do a first class job on each customer. Considering that their prices are a bargain, it is not surprising that they have a loyal clientele who keep coming back and sometimes it can be busy. I started out as a stranger a year and a half ago. I was treated well and very pleased with my haircut and now I'm a regular.
