After 11 days of work I had a hard-won day off and decided I needed a little bit of pampering. I had never been to a barbershop before, usually sticking to salons or whatever is on hand.
Initially I was a little disappointed with the décor, I was maybe expecting a little more cigar shop but got an upscale looking but straight forward salon. Still this would remain the biggest weak point of Roosters.
From the moment I sat down in the chair the experience began to turn around. The chair is bigger than most chairs and much more comfortable, it's a chair you could be in for hours. My barber took the few amateur directions I could give and immediately knew what I was looking for. She took her time with the cut and trim, never letting a sense of rush or indecision creep through, she was confident and practiced.
I never thought a haircut could be an experience but between that, my beard trim, and the shampoo and hot-towel treatment I left feeling like a million bucks. Tax and (20%) tip it was my most expensive haircut at $60 but it definitely felt worth it. Shy of a hot stone back massage there wasn't much Roosters could have done to make me more relaxed and confident.
It also proved heart-warming as several father's and their young sons were in for the haircut combo. Roosters is certainly courting this demographic and having that experience with a child is certainly something any current or prospective father would rightfully aspire to.
I'll be back for sure.
