The shop is clean and tidy and has a nice atmosphere. It's almost a 20 minute drive for me but it's definitely worth it knowing I'll get an awesome haircut.

A friend of mine suggest Ray to me here and this man is the most knowledgeable and friendly barber ive ever met. Not only does this man know hair, he knows style. You can go in there and say "make me look good" and you'll walk out with the cleanest freshest cut you've ever gotten. Ray is super friendly and loves his work. Visiting parents from Toronto, I thought it would be just fine getting a hair cut from a business which as 4.8 stars on google. I have never been so wrong in my life. In Toronto, ANY barber knows what a "fade" is what a "comb-over" is. In 15 mins, you are done and look like a million bucks. At Metro, however, my haircut lasted 1.5 hours. No seriously, from 11:30 to 1 pm. The barber, someone they clearly just hired and has no idea what he is doing, took the first 35 mins working on my sides and did a horrendous job (the "fade" was same length straight cut along the side of my hair). I had to explain that I want a comb-over 7 times throughout the 1.5 hours I was there. I left the shop looking like I have a pineapple on my head. Reading some of these 5 star comments, I am not sure if ANY of this shop's customers know what a good haircut looks like. And I don't understand why people rate this business for how "friendly" they are ... it's a barber ... rate their cuts not their attitude. Just look at the comb-over line they did and the "Fade". What a joke.

TLDR: Great people, conversation, cuts/styles, and fair prices. I'll definitely be a returning customer for as long as I live on this side of the city! I recently moved to this side of the city and for multiple reasons I decided it was time for a haircut (after a year and a half or more of growing it out), mainly due to my upcoming job as a Personal Fitness Trainer. As you can see from the pictures I went from one extreme to another. Fadel was the one who took care of me but they're all an awesome bunch of barbers and people in general. I didn't know EXACTLY what I wanted but I had a general idea and I think it turned out really well overall, but we'll make some tweaks here and there until I absolutely love it.

Metro is everything you’d expect from a barber shop: Quality cuts, reasonable prices, friendly and quick service. I ask for Ray every time and have never been disappointed. At the end of the cut, he offers clipper or straight razor to shave the collar and side burns. He also offers to style and add product if I’m not headed home right after. He remembers me by name and we chat about our families. It feels like a small town shop in the big city. I would recommend this place to anyone.

These guys are rated 5 stars for a reason, and it's not for show. Metro Barber shop is the first place I went to when I grew up and stopped going to superclips and the like. The place is reminiscent of a no-frills NYC barber shop, and take my word for it, that's a blessing. No need for the newest styles plastered around the shop, you're treated to classic memorabilia posters from the likes of Muhammid Ali and Dean Martin. It's got the feel of a real man cave, where the decorations don't need to look like a vegas spa, but an honest, relatable owner. That's not to say the place is run down or messy mind you, just that it's simple and no nonesense, the way it ought to be. Of course, what would a humble barbershop be without it's artists? I've been going here and only here for around 5 years I believe, and I've yet to leave un-satisfied. Ray is the master and he's always got what I need, as I sure as heck don't know what looks good on me. Always great for an idle chat or lively discussions, he's got the feeling of a master craftsman, but never above you either. He just speaks confidence but not arrogance. The type of guy every man needs at his barbershop. And of course I gotta mention the pricing. I've never felt jipped here, the prices have always been more than fair. I usually average a bit under $30 for hair and a beard, but that depends on the person of course, as I do have shorter hair. It's for these above reasons that I highly recommend anyone reading this to hold up on their original place and at least give these guys a try. I have no reason to leave and I doubt I ever will. So long as I live here, I don't plan on finding anyone else, indefinitely. 5/5

The younger bald guy should be avoided if you want anything more than a buzz cut. Multiple chances were given as he was learning. It almost like he knows 1 haircut- a buzz cut. Great price. The two hardest things to find when you move - a good mechanic, and a good barber... Metro is a well-run and friendly shop and the wait time was minimal. I got EXACTLY the haircut I asked for (which doesn't always happen). These guys know how to do the clipper and scissors thing properly - they are real barbers instead of "stylists". The fellow who cut my hair (Ray) said he was apprenticing under the owner and has only been there a couple of months; if that is the case, he is a super fast learner, and a great barber! And only 15 bucks to boot. This shop just earned itself a loyal customer.

Don't bother asking for what kind of haircut you like, because in the end your going to get something you never asked for. POOR SERVICE, FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. I was deceived by these high reviews. A younger bald man had cut my hair, i showed him an image of the medium hair length style i would like. He responded "ok" and began to cut. This man gave me a very short haircut and looked absolutely NOTHING like the image I had shown him. I was so frustrated and upset, because I had to PAY for a haircut that does not even closely resemble for what I had asked for. If the barber didn't know how to cut a medium sized hairstyle, he should have admitted it.

This shop is run very professionally. Service is fast and friendly. I had a 12:30 appointment and had to wait to 12:45 but was in no way concerned as I was told why. They take there time and do not rush to make the chair available. On two occasions that I had an obvious trainee an experienced barber came after and did touch ups and made sure the trainee followed along to become a professional barber. I always leave this shop feeling that I have received value for my money.

Been here twice recently and they always close well before the closing time as a customer approaches. Makes zero sense to have a posted closing time of 6pm if you close well before it. Both times as we pulled up an employee went to lock the door and turn off the sign which is frankly just scummy to do but won't be retuning here.

Moved to Edmonton from BC had a hard time finding a barber I liked until I came to this barber shop. Adam and Ray both do a superb job, always listen to your input and work with what you want. Hands down the 2 best barbers in Edmonton, Adam also knows how to line up a beard properly...very hard to find that in the city. Ray and Adam should be everyone's go to barber.

February 13th, 2019, i took my 18 year old son in who was in dire need of a hair cut lol so i thought I would make it better experience by getting him a hot shave as well because he had never had one at a barber shop before. The hair cut and hot shave literally couldnt have been a better experience. Very friendly staff who im fairly certain included the owner that day. We had a BLAST cracking jokes the whole time. They got a good kick out of our hilarious family and they joined right in the laughter and joking around! They did a really great job at the hot shave, im sure it was a very relaxing time for my son. And they did an even more amazing job on my sons VERY long neglected hair. My kid looked great. And we could all tell he felt great and on top of the world when he was done. Thank you for such a great experience. You can see a before and after pic on the google pictures to see the difference because the owner put one up. I also added some pictures of the hot shave! The picture itself doesnt do justice on how great it acctually looked.I now recommend this place to every guy i know! So friendly, inviting, professional, comfortable, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

After going to various salons for years and never knowing of the knowledge or pleasure of going to a barber shop, I hopped into this place on a whim. Always looked like a bit of a hole in the wall from a distance but my god! They get the haircut perfect everytime! Everytime it’s perfect, the staff are excellent and always super friendly!
