Aliya did a fantastic job on my back of the head shave and the design has been complimented numerous times. Of course, I feel amazing with it too! And Jess was a superstar bleach master and so patient with my hair, even bleaching parts of the shaved design, and it looked gorgeous! Any time someone compliments my hair, I just send the gratitude over to Aliya and Jess for their craft! The atmosphere in the shop is so welcoming and warm, will be back ASAP!

I am a long time client of Barber Blonde, started going when my pal started cutting there. I always have a great experience and leave with fantastic haircut. I’ve had my hair cut by everyone there because I’m trash at making appointments and just show up when I’ve got some time. They almost always have someone who can see me right away and, no matter whose chair I’m at, the haircut slaps. It’s a good, well-rounded crew and a comfortable vibe. Super competitive pricing too. I’ve left other shops feeling overcharged for cuts and product but that’s never been my experience here. Very legit.

The staff is super friendly, professional, and their studio is always pristine, doubly so since COVID. They do an awesome job reminding me of appointments and never fail to follow up with cancellations so I can get in sooner (I always need to get in sooner). They are always on top of it! I have been frequenting Dollhouse & Barber Blonde for well over a year now after I had a disappointing experience at another barber in town and I have never looked back. The facilities are very clean, their new location is much more convenient to get to, and I am a fan of their modern/rustic style furnishings with retro art pieces hung throughout. I have been specifically booking with their barber Joshua and have always had exceptional service. His cuts have met all of my expectations, and he's always psyched to have you walk out feeling (and of course looking) better than when you arrived. The rest of the staff are all genuine, and they show it by making the time you spend in their business timely, as well as enjoyable. If you're in the market for somewhere to make you look your best then look no further.

Finally had a chance to experience a real barber shop here in Edmonton. My buddy has been upset with all the other barbers that he went by so far in the past few weeks for his haircuts. Prior to coming in we called a few barber shops around the city and wanted to make sure we would get first class service in terms of what kind of style and haircut we wanted. My friend in particular is very picky since he had one barber for the past 6 years and have never been with another barber since! I got my haircut by Ben and my buddy got his done by Tim the owner, we both were happy with the end result of our cut! Personally the folks over at this Barber shop know what their doing in terms of customer service and making sure the customers get the best out of the haircut experience. The whole store has amazing art work and sceneries that give it that classic and retro barber shop feel. Which is what any barber shop should look and feel like. In conclusion this is the best barber shop I have been to in Edmonton so far and most likely will be going back here in the future for my haircuts.

If one stylist knows that another specializes in a certain skill, they have no problem recommending each other. No client-hogging happening here! I got a beautiful color on my first visit with Sherri, and then went for a full-on makeover on my second visit with Willow. I have really fine hair, and was nervous about going super short. I went for a consultation and I loved that they were honest and genuine about what they could achieve with my hair without damaging it and how many appointments it might take. Thank goddess for Barber Blonde! I entered a nice, pleasant, and peaceful ladies salon — curlers in under heated head lamps and the sounds of blow-driers fill the room .... I’m like “am I in the right place?” The mommy at the front desk assures me that I am, offers me coffee or a beverage, and to wait around the corner on the bench. It’s a totally different world around one seemingly innocent corner. A cool almost tattoo-shop-esque vibe with original art all over the walls. Old industrial style nails to hang ones coat and bag. And the barbers — tattooed NY city style humans (ladies and men) chopping hair and tossing talc powder almost missing the kabuki brushes and landing on the floor. My idea of a barber shop for sure. I wait. I’m always early. It’s my thing. And then my fight or flight kicks in - I get a rush of adrenaline ... I see a wolf and he’s coming to eat me. Panic. My heart beats faster and is stopped at the same time. Or ... nope he’s coming to say hi, smells me, kisses my hand. He walks away and lays down because he is THE SHOP DOG ! A wolf for a shop dog. I’m pretty much like “okay I survived a wolf attack.” I’m called. It’s my turn. The barber says : what do you want to do with your hair? Me : shorter on top maybe a fade on the sides. Him: No, I mean what do you want your hair to look like ? Who do you want to be a year from now ? Me (coming down from the adrenaline of wolf attack): umm. It’s a little early in the day for a life goal conversation. Ummm I don’t know. Ummm maybe. Ummm. Him: let’s talk about this angle. And that texture. This length and what I do with my hair day to day. How it’s should look family history of Gray. Yada yada We figure it out after what feels like a lifetime. He goes to work like an artist and his fresh canvas. Slow and methodical. Precise and efficient. I stare blanc at a Karl L. Miniature statue complete with cat and his signature black suit and an antique bottle of tequila for 30 mins. I awaken to find him saying I’m all done and styling the last little bit of hair. Trying to teach me the products to use. As I leave I realize it’s only been 36 mins since I arrived and I didn’t dream this magical place in my head. It’s real. It has been maybe 3 - 4 months since then. And yesterday I received almost 10 compliments on my hair before 0800. I honestly have never been happier. Everyone is great. Nice. Everyone leaves there looking amazing with great haircuts. My brother has since gone seeing the magic that has unfolded on me and loves it too. In case you’re wondering my hair isn’t easy. It’s half doll hair half old shake and go wig that hasn’t been taken care of for 20 years. All in all I would say That if you aren’t going to barber blonde your hair isn’t nice. You haven’t lived. And your life is full of regret.

Before I made Barber Blonde my go to barber shop, I've been jumping from place to place with getting my haircuts, either a barbershop or even a salon. Each place would usually last a few months before I get unsatisfied with the haircuts I get or just realizing that it wasn't worth the price. It's been almost a year and a half since I decided to go to Barber Blonde with the recommendation of my sister, and I've never thought of going anywhere else. I wish I could give this place a better review. The staff was very friendly and the facilities were clean and funky, plus I didn't get upsold on product. But I can't say much for my haircut. I left feeling just okay with the cut, so I didn't say anything to my hairdresser. She might have fixed it for me. I asked for a pixie cut and brought in a picture of what I wanted. I made sure to book a consultation first so that I could really flesh out what I wanted. What I got was essentially a $65 trim. It was not shaped, shortened, or styled to reflect the picture I showed. She even forgot to shape one of my side burns. It felt like the hairdresser didn't know how much time she had with me and instead rushed through the whole process. Then too, it really bugs me that I get charged expensive "women" prices even though I have fairly short hair.

After it was colored she dried it a bit to make sure, right away she said she felt like it needed a bit more blonde to achieve what we originally discussed. After complimenting a young retailer on her excellent haircut, she told me her stylist was 'Kim at The Dollhouse Salon,' so that's where I went this past May for my Mother's Day cut. And that's also where compliments ended, as far as I'm concerned. Months later, I'm still steamed about this bad, bad cut! I told Kim what I wanted and what I didn't want: my cut needed to be from a side part, not the middle as stylists often insist on, resulting in one side of my hair being much shorter on the heavier side. Kim agreed to this, so I wasn't forced to argue the math with her! I wanted long lengths, I told her, which apparently meant to her that I wanted two quite separate and poorly blended-in lengths. Later, when I put my hair in a pony tail, yes, I had two distinct and separate lengths, a short one as well as a long bunch of hair tied up together, and not one blended-in length of hair. Her expensive cut lasted a total of 38-40 minutes, which broke the record for any cut I've ever had before. In other words, the 55 bucks I paid, tip included, was twice the price I feel I should've paid. When I called back for a re-cut, not from her but from another stylist, Kim insisted I go back to her. I found a way around this issue, because despite her pleasantness, I refused to be re-traumatized by her! Dollhouse manager explained their stylists are paid by commission, so I had to do a creative re-negotiation for Christine to do my re-cut, which was somewhat better. I took Christine's card, but I would never, ever go back there, no matter how cute I found the big dressed-up bunny at the door, or how interesting the decor of the place. I say, consider yourself warned.....

After getting my hair bleached, a big section of my hair got fried completely. So now the back of my hair has a completely different texture from the rest of my hair and chunks of my hair has already fallen off so the length of my hair is uneven as well. I had to buy an oil from them to put in my hair to limit the damage, however, the bottle was faulty so I wanted an exchange. They replaced it instead with a different product which has already been used. I was told "the bottle is pretty much full". I wanted to like this place but my hair has never been so damaged, especially having to pay hundreds of dollars for the hair even with the damage. Also giving me a used bottle as a replacement is unacceptable. Especially when I had to buy a $50+ bottle to repair the damage that they caused.

Joshua took the time to talk with me regarding my hair and I informed him of what I would like for some of my cut and asked that he take the reins for the final style. So after reading some good reviews and some bad reviews I thought I should give this place a try. I walked in and the decor was wonderful to look at. It wasn't all the same. It was a calm , relaxing yet fun and hip place. I had an appointment at 2 and showed up early. They took me in right away offered me tea or water. I sat down in the chair. Lois came and helped me. She was understanding, listened to what I wanted and was very honest. I walked in there with bright pink hair and what I wanted as going to be a process. Lois was very honest and took what I wanted and made it her own. She took her time, had a great personality and calmed me down as I was nervous. The final result was simply stunning and I am now blonde. My hair didn't fall out, nor did it turn green. She explained how to take care of my hair. I will definitely be returning. Lois if you see this your wonderful at your craft. To everyone else at the Dollhouse Hair Boutique you are amazing people and keep up the good work. Thank you so much> I will definitely send people your way.

Got my haircut here after being recommended by a colleague. As well, I thought I could use the referral bonus of $20 and so could he. However, unknowingly the stylist I booked online did not know how to do fades so she referred me to the owner who was available. I wasn't informed by my stylist or the owner that he (owner) would be the price of $44 because he's a senior stylist... for this price, minus $20 still comes out to be $24 with tax, not including tip......... reluctantly. For the price of $44, I could go to any barber shop in Edmonton, who can skin/fade and style my hair for the same product this place uses for $25-30 w/ tip and a hair wash.. I wasn't even washed my hair prior or after. One extra star for finding out this is how they operate, I do not need to come back. Still a poor rating.

I dyed my hair for the first time a few weeks ago with Lois and she walked me through the entire thing and made sure I knew not only what she was doing, but also what the costs would be beforehand! I really appreciated this because as someone who doesn’t know a lot about the hair dyeing process, it’s nice to have someone guide me through it. I went back today to dye it again and had another wonderful experience! From the second you walk in the door, it’s such a friendly environment and the staff are always so nice. Even though Lois does my hair, I find that the other hairdressers will always come and join in on our conversations if they can which I love because it makes me feel very welcome. I’ve had really bad experiences with hairdressers at other salons and was reluctant to try out dollhouse but I’m so glad that I did. I definitely will stick to going here for a long time since not only do they do such a good job, but the staff are always so kind and the salon itself has such a cool aesthetic. There are also two adorable dogs in the salon who are extremely well trained and behaved, you barely notice that they are there but I always look forward to seeing them when I go to Dollhouse! They also use top quality products on your hair and have a lot of newer styling tools in really good condition. They also have a loyalty program where you can earn free products by collecting points and a referral program where if you refer someone, you get $20 off! I honestly love coming here and even though I’ve only been here twice, the way the staff treats me is like I’ve been going there my whole life. I would recommend this salon, especially Lois, to anyone in a heartbeat!

I wish I could of been one of the many who has raved about this place. I was recommended by a friend but my experience lacked the all star rating of others. After being received to my appointment late I was given a full consult and went over my hair issues.. On the brassy side and wanted something grow out naturally and less maintenance I went over colours etc and processed. Seemed like the stylist was a bit under the gun already late and going back and forth between myself and another client.. I booked a haircut as well but was asked if I needed one?? I booked one.. I decided a trim was all that was necessary when blow drying I thought something was off.. But thought perhaps was the lighting.. Finished off and went to drive home and was looking at my hair was blue/grey tint to some parts.. Went back and inside and waited half an hour for the stylist to finish off with the other client and was told because I wanted a cooler tint(and paid for a tone) is to be expected and would hopefully wash out in the next two washing.. What??!!! Never had this before..sad and unfortunate experience as I am looking for a new place to see frequently..

Found Dollhouse Hair and decided to give it a shot. Booked an apt for a cut and style with Alicia. I've been so happy with my cuts and colors. Shes very talented, easy to talk to and I have always left lookin good (well my hair anyway). The salon itself is clean, has a really cool atmosphere, and is conveniently located on Calgary Trail. Love this place and highly recommend to anyone.

Shelli is amazing! I’ve went to a couple hair stylists to dye my hair; but never got the results I wanted. This has been the first time where I had someone that actually spent almost two hours with me figuring out the colour I want. Although we couldn’t complete the colouring during the session, Shelli explained in length the reasons why (hair health and current dyes in my hair). Also making a plan to eventually get to the results I want within a couple sessions. We focused on my haircut which she f$&@*%# slayed. Got all my dead ends out and styled it perfectly to suit me.
