Service at the welland branch, nice and pleasant go out of their way to help. I have never had such bad service from the mail reminders and or letters deeming missed payment or extra charges ever. You call the 1800 number they leave and very poor customer service. The payments that have been discussed to be caught up on within a week previously not resolved or communicated between previous phone call or branch visit! Makes for a very stressfull service and time. Maybe if you offer friendly reminders or missed payments and such through email everyone will be on the same page at the same time! Ashley w Dalton. After a number of calls and a couple of visits, we have been offered a grace month, which is a relief. Still recommend email paperless reminders.

This rating is App related, very poor layout which makes simple actions a long affair. This is all dependant on the site being up, down all the time which is also a very frustrating. This is enough to move mortgage next year, pay tons of interest, should at least have functional App.

So it's a bank, yes a credit union but if you don't have an account with them, suffer from a disability that won't let you walk far, they don't want to deal with you for changing any currency to cdn.

After 5 years into a mortgage, it came to renewal time. I thought that we had a great business relationship but apparently I was wrong. They said that they would match the rate that other banks were offering, strung us along for a couple weeks, and then said that we were getting the rate posted on the website (3.14 vs 3.39). Had 2 months until renewal so I got a mortgage broker on it. He got multiple offers from the banks in a week for 3.09. Then FirstOntario delayed the transfer so that a 2 week process came down to less than 1 week. 6 weeks after our renew and there rates are 3.04.

Really unimpressed with this bank. Goes back on their word after lying and saying the didn’t agree when we had the letter from the st Catherine’s branch., that they sent. Has decided to raise our mortgage from 1900 to 2600 a month. When they sent the letter stating it would stay the same until we resigned and was to go down from 1900 to 1800. With two family members on disability how the hell are we supposed to live. Especially in the current situation around the Provence. Again very unhappy and disappointed with the service. Will be switching banks as soon as possible. I do not ever recommend this credit union bank. This is not the first time they have taken more money from our accounts then they should. Then we had to pay the price of other bills bouncing because of them.

We have our mortgage with First Ontario Credit Union in Woodstock, Ontario and our representative was Christina VanLierop. Completely amazing!! She new exactly what we needed and handles our business quickly . I would recommend anyone to her and to First Ontario as they put there clients first.

customer service is good when you get it they should have a 24/7 customer support line for people who work business hours and cannot make it to the bank

I love FirstOntario. They are small, local and I trust them over any of the big banks. I take part in electing the executive and I will do all of my financial planning, mortgages, rrsp's etc. through them whether they have the best price or not. I'm all about buying local, and FirstOntario is my local choice for banking.

Always a friendly smile and helpful service from the banking staff. I have been with FirstOntario Credit Union Welland for nearly 5 years, and it's a nice touch when the staff know your name and greet you when you enter. The staff are local to the community and are all heavily involved with volunteering at community events. From personal banking to business banking, FirstOntario Credit Union Welland offers you the services you need, affordably, and do so with the small-town feeling that you dont receive when your known as a number with some other large banks. Keep up the good work.

Extremely difficult to get a real person to talk to. It tweaks me. They suggest to go on line but if one has difficulty navigating the website it's very frustrating. My daughter in law experienced the same dilemma ????

They have 4 wickets for tellers to help people. Funny, because every time I go in there's only ever one person available. Today was my breaking point, they go soooo sloooooow at everything they do, and you have to sit and listen to pointless conversation while you wait ALWAYS. How about spend less time talking about yourself and what you did on the weekend, and prioritize helping the 5 other people lined up. Ridiculous. They pay you to help people with banking, not to sit there and chit chat all day. Save it for your break time. This place sucks, go somewhere where they have more than 1 person working, if you could even call it working.

No matter the day or time there is always 1 teller and the lines are ridiculous. You would think Friday being pay day for most along with it happen to fall on a government check day as well there would be more hands on deck!! Guess not..... been banking with this bank since i moved to Ontario. Too bad the next location is not local to me or else I would go there.

Where do I start when it comes to the problems at the Wellend branch. It took 4 months, yes that’s right 4 months to set up a second mortgage after my application was past around the office and forgotten about and passed to 3 separate employees only to start the proses all over again each time... Records of last meeting? No, they couldn’t find them. Had to do all the leg work for them getting paperwork for them each time. Can’t banks talk to each other? We set up a credit card with them and gave them $2500 as security on the limit only to be called one week before Christmas that Firstontario is no longer working with the CC company and was going to be closing the account on Dec 31 and would need to reapply again in 2018. Credit score alert! After not getting anything in the mail saying it was closed and calls to the branch only got me a voice mail saying the last person I dealt with is on vacation. Now today March 6th 2018 found out I missed a payment on a credit card that was closed at the end of December 2017 and my credit score dropped by 50 points!!!! How long is that going to take to come back up because of there incompetents! Terrible people to be tied to!

Switched to here almost two months ago because the (online) bank I dealt with was going through changes. Since I belonged to a credit union in the past, I didn't hestitate to go here because I rather deal in person and go to an actual building, instead of chatting online or over the phone for certain requests.
