Never before have I ever seen a more dis honest or un-ethical company do business in this country. I have been trying clear my name as they mistakenly sent out a credit alert to the credit bureau in my name. They have admitted to me on the phone of this error but refuse to put anything in writing to me or to the credit bureaus. They say we can not "send you anything as it is against policy". They refuse to let me speak to a manager that can make decisions, do not return calls on meeting times they request and stall every time I call, average call in over 90 min, if it is less it is because they hung up on me. In the mean time I have a black mark on my credit rating for something they did wrong and refuse to fix. They have claimed they can not give me a e-mail stating they made an error because it is for "security reasons and confidential information it contains". They claim to mail a letter snail mail but that has not come either. I wish it was a company with integrity but is seems that is not the case. When i make a mistake, I own it and then do my best to fix what i did wrong. These guys just say they cant do anything to fix the mistake they made. From the reviews i have seen here I unfortunately am not the only one they have treated like this. You should be ashamed DUO Bank. UPDATE I am shocked NOT have been contacted by your company today, this is the same service your staff has given and I have spoken to many have offered over the last days. WALMART this is on you as well as it is your name on everything they do. You have lost more than one customer as I am making sure to tell everyone I know about this and maybe not all but I think some will never walk into one of your stores again.

I got a fraud alert Duo Bank opened a credit card in my name!! Do not accept an invitation to sign up for a Walmart Mastercard to get a discount, this is what happens! BEWARE.

This Bank Damaged my credit score when I asked for a Walmart Credit Card more than a year ago (or maybe someone else as I can't recollect if I ever did it myself but I thought doing it for sure at certain point), and I am still trying to recover... Avoid as plague.

I check my credit score fairly often and was surprised to find that a first national duo bank account appeared in my active accounts. I did some research and it was linked to a Walmart credit card. I contacted customer service and no one was able to help me. I saw all these online reviews and was terrified there was fraudulent activity against my name for an account I did not open. I contacted customer service multiple times and there was no success as they could not retrieve an account under my name. I was quite frustrated at the customer personnels I spoke to, it sounded like they were all from overseas. I sent an email to the ombudsman at duo bank and I received a response a couple of days later. Audrey at the Toronto head office was very professional and looked into the situation with transunion. She followed up and informed me it was a transunion mistake and that it’s being corrected. I was very concerned with duo banks ability to resolve my issues based on the scary reviews I read here but after contacting the ombudsman duo bank email address, I had someone look into it immediately and rectified the situation.

Joining the droves of people complaining of some form of fraud. Signed up for a home equity credit card that was backed by Duo Bank. The day of closing my credit card with another bank is used for fraudulant transactions in another country, and I start receiving 10 calls a day from scam phone numbers. New ones each time so blocking doesn't help. Hasn't stopped. It's so bad I'm thinking of changing phone numbers from the one I've had for 15 years. I have a hard time seeing this incident as a coincidence considering all the reviews below.

If I could put anything less than 1 star or something in negative, even that would be less. They crashed my credit score due to "THEIR" mistake and left me hanging. No support whatsoever, their customer service is pathetic and I am still left without any assistance. The phone number they provide is of no use at all. DON'T EVEN THINK of getting their credit card. All they want to give you a card with all fancy words and then provide you with the worst customer support ever. Frustration is a smaller thing while dealing with these people.

The card is great and the rewards program makes collecting and redeeming rewards simple. Other cards and programs make it so complicated to redeem rewards that a lot of the time you don't even bother. When you checkout at the store, it will show you exactly how much you could redeem. Easy Peasy!

I had someone use my card, and then used my name to forge receipts. Walmart sided with them, closed the case, and now I owe the stolen money. They refused to work with me to understand what was going on, told me that the conversation was over and it was closed. I now have to contact the police to get access to the forged files. I loved using their card, but this has been an awful experience.

I can share with the public my experience. They sent me a card, I brought 300 dollar's worth of merchandise, and then they blocked the card saying they needed information they already had multiple time, the call center is not anywhere near Canada, and the English spoken by the CSR's is functional, they have learned to regurgitate the same line over and over. This is beyond security, it's called harassment. The fact that DUO bank acquired predatory consumer lender Fairstone should tell you all you need to know, stay away from Walmart, if you love Canada support Canadian Tire, or Super Store, stay away from Walmart. And calling customer service just puts you on a merry go round, you get no-where, I will only deal with companies that are Canadian from now on, these new foreign companies do not have the spirit of Canada, they see it as a big money pit.

I was approved for a Walmart Mastercard in August, asked to send in ID for review and over a month later I'm still waiting for this review to end so I can activate my card. I haven't heard from anyone and I don't know who's actually reviewing my card. No one can give me an estimated time as to how long this will take yet they've reported the card to Equifax and TransUnion. Why is this billion dollar company asking me to fax in my ID instead of asking me to visit a store or even sending registered mail to a post office where they'd have to validate my ID or something? This is irritating.

A bank tied to Walmart to money from people. The customer care will confirm the address is correct when you report card not arrive. And again try to send the card but will not arrive. There will be always a purchase once you take card from Walmart. Once you ask them for statement then also they will say address is right. But when you call back for non receipt of statement then will say it’s wrong address. They give option to go to Walmart and fax the utility bills which is non existent in Walmart. They also make you pay interest. This is total scam to make money from people in the name of interest without even sending the card. Also when you call customer care they will inform without account number there is no option of payment. I had to call 5 times and got a representative who provided a check option. I don’t even know if that even works such is their responses. Never ever get a card from Walmart from this bank. Please don’t make people pay for your inefficiency. Such a shame !

Disgusting how they withdraw money out of my elderly fathers bank account illegally! Multiple attempts have been made to retrieve the funds over a period of 6 months and they continue to evade us. Mike Timko (manager of client support) refuses to return phone calls and emails. It is absolutely criminal how they have treated and continue to treat my elderly father. We will need to escalate this. How can you steal from a senior on a limited and fixed income?? Now the phone number they gave in their reply is not in service.

My WalMart Master Card was hacked. They reversed the fraudulent charges but then added one back. The $100 charge was by someone from Azerbaijan ! Multiple conversations have not resolved the issue, even after I cancelled my card. They just keep hounding me on the phone and keep showing me as not paying my balance. Have caused my credit rating to crash by more than 100 points so far and the drop is continuing. To resolve the issue I offered to pay the balance to a charity of there choice but they want the money themselves. I refuse to give in to blackmail.

Stole the overpayment made on account to be closed. Hung up because I was recording the conversation. *****Update. Upon investigating it seems the fraudulent activity seems to actually be employees of DuoBank. Seems also to be happening off of our soil. That’s why they don’t care. Why wouldn’t a company want to fix problems? Also because most people will give up as it takes three months before the Ombudsman will step in they feel confident not to do anything. Initiate a complaint with your provincial Ombudsman for Financial and Investment Institutions. Don’t give up. They have put out shiny new applications in their stores so they are going to dupe many more people.

Someone activated a credit card under my name on August 27th. Luckily there was no charge on it since I received the card at home. I closed the account for fraud as soon as I received the card at home and put an alert on both Equifax and TransUnion. At least the Walmart fraud department cancelled the card but it will take several weeks to remove the fraudulent inquiry from my file. So frustrating. They refused to tell me what email address was put on the account. I could have given this information to the police for investigation. But NOOOO they refused to help. They will be victim of more and more fraud if this how they operate.

This bank has near zero fraud prevention. Someone illegally opened multiple cards with phone numbers thousands of kms from me with no relation to my credit file. The bank mailed me 2 cards. I interrupted 2 more after I had reported the previous ones. Their fraud department refused to clean up the mess because I can't validate the fraudulent information they have on file that doesn't match my credit file. I called six times and finally had to involve police to get cooperation. Months later I still don't have the letter they promised to recover from this mess. The refused to fax or email it. They clearly never mailed it. Bank elsewhere at all cost.

Beware of applying for a Walmart Rewards Mastercard, its associated with this institution. They will close it without notice due to inactivity. A call center supervisor informed me that at their discretion they can close out an account as per the agreement if they do not see any activity in 3 months. They deem what is relevant activity (e.g. my small transaction with amazon.ca , even within 3 months was not counted as valid activity). I have had a credit card that is one of my oldest cards closed out like this and it will impact my credit history.

Applied a handful of times for the Walmart MasterCard, and have been declined each time. No indication why it’s been declined, and I never have issues applying elsewhere and receiving pretty high limits. Not sure if they only accept poor credit individuals so they can reep the interest they charge them or what. It doesn’t make any sense otherwise. I won’t be applying again, and this just keeps me further and further from walking into a Walmart store. The worse thing Walmart could have ever done, was sell the credit card to this clown show.

I received a walmart rewards card , used it a few times. Then the card got restricted from use pending verifying my identity , I faxed in NOA from cra, picture I'd, copy of business act info , and also paid my 2nd payment online through my bank , 6 weeks later it's still restricted ...how much more proof do you need ? I'm paying the card off and cancelling it ASAP. I spoke to CSR and was told that the restrictions would be off 5 to 7 business days after they received my fax with verifying documents , but I still can't use it . Not calling anymore, just get lied to

I’m sorry to see that it seems to be a common problem for Walmart/DuoBank to scam seniors. Very similar problem where Walmart refused to help with a fraudulent charge. “It’s not our problem” Walmart said. When the company that placed the charge finally returned the debit Walmart charged $50 in interest reducing the credit by $50. Then Walmart let $120 sit on an unused card for two years, they refused to close the card, and refused to return credit. Then they closed the card sent a fake bill saying they refunded the money, but never sent the money back. Have gone to the Ontario Ombudsman and now approaching a lawyer. I see in here a few people complaining about their parents getting money stolen by this company. Maybe it will be a group endeavour!
